The USC Triple-Double Podcast -- the Peristyle Podcast's basketball-focused podcast -- returns with co-hosts Shotgun Spratling and Connor Morrissette (aka Mr. Triple Double) breaking down some recent USC men's basketball practices, including Shotgun getting his first opportunity to see second-year head coach Eric Musselman run a practice. The podcasting duo talk with the lone scholarship returner from last season as Terrance Williams II joins the show to talk about his road to recovery from a broken scaphoid -- a small boat-shaped bone located in the wrist -- suffered last year during a game at Oregon. Williams discusses the trials and tribulations he endured during his rehab for an injury he initially thought would only require a short recovery and allow him to get back on the court by the end of the 2024-25 season. Williams talks about his relationship with Musselman and how it led to him returning to USC despite the rest of the roster departing. He also discusses his role as a leader this season and what the 6-foot-7 wing has seen from this year's roster as he's slowly worked his way back onto the court, though he's still yet to be 100 percent cleared for full contact. After a break, Shotgun and Connor discuss what they've seen from a couple of recent practices since the Trojans have returned for training camp in the lead up to the 2025-26 season. They look at how the roster has developed since first being assembled and debate what the starting lineup could look like. Basketball Bits Starts at 1:00 Seth is once again the biggest dork. Will Tschetter is returning, Terrance Williams II hit the portal and declared for the NBA draft (¯_(ツ)_/¯), and Dusty May has made some assistant coaching hires. Mike Boynton and Akeem Miskdeen have joined the staff. These moves seem like they're recruiting focused. All three of the big three from FAU are in the portal, Nick Boyd released a big list of schools that did not have Michigan on it. Michigan should get Davis and Goldin. Have you met Louisville's fanbase? What about the rest of Michigan's roster? Brian gives his guess on 10-11 roster spots.  2. Football Spring Bits - Defense Starts at 38:36 As it turns out, the defense is better than the offense right now. They're really high on Jaishawn Barham, the linebacker transfer from Maryland. Rolder is still dinged up and we don't blame him for what happened against Ohio State. There is speculation on the CB2 chatter and why it's more encouraging than this time last year. LB2 and CB2 should be fine. On the defensive line, TJ Guy is a guy (ahhh he did it). Etta is also encouraging. It won't be last team's defensive line but it should be a two deep we're comfortable with. The last two questions are “what do we do without Rod Moore” and “who is the nickel back”? 3. Football Spring Bits - Offense Starts at 50:20 Takes hotter than our Kickstarter. On offense, it feels like Alex Orji is simply the leader at quarterback so far. To be fair, the offensive line is probably having a bad time against this defensive line. Semaj Morgan has been getting talked up which is not surprising. Donovan Edwards has apparently gained 15 pounds (with no mention of him catching passes). Marlin Klein is being called the best athlete of the tight ends. Not really any surprises along the offensive line. Sure, some of the problems at quarterback could be the defensive line dominating the offense line but those talks could also be covering up limitations of the quarterbacks. It could all work out but for that to happen you have to run the Denard offense and win some Iowa games. What would you consider a successful season this year? 4. NCAA Hockey Tournament  Starts at 1:19:48 Michigan hockey reaches the frozen four for the third consecutive year. Michigan scores three in the 3rd period after North Dakota was arguably the better team in the first two periods. This is the opposite of what the season narrative has been. Of teams that have made the frozen four historically, the numbers one, two, three, and six are in. This is the bluest of blue bloods frozen four. Denver is 100 duck sized horses. Boston College has snipers, can't get into a shooting match with them.  MUSIC: "Miracles" — Alex G “Time Waits For No One" — The Rolling Stones “Will I See You Again”—  Three Sacred Souls “Across 110th Street”

The Latest on Signgate Starts at 1:00 The developments that have developed are basically nothing. Feels like we know pretty much what there is to know, it's just a matter of what happens next from the NCAA. Michigan could be the first program hit with the NCAA's new rule of "if a staffer gets in trouble, the head coach also gets in trouble". There's some failure on the part of Warde Manuel. What is the actual competitive advantage of stolen signals? College football coaches are the most paranoid people in America. Based on how the NCAA has handled these issues, it seems extremely unlikely that anything will happen to Michigan this season. Worst case scenario would be Jim Harbaugh gets a show-cause a year or two down the road. [The rest of the writeup and the player after THE JUMP] 2. Michigan Men's Basketball Backcourt Starts at 22:37 Dug McDaniel is the most established guard. Freshmen point guards can be shaky, McDaniel's trajectory for his sophomore year is encouraging. Jaelin Llewellyn is your next most established guard. We didn't see a lot of him last year since he tore his ACL but he should be full go by now. Hard to know how much we're getting back from him after his injury. Nimari Burnett transfers as a rotation player from an Alabama team that was the 3rd best defense in college basketball last year. His offensive upside is unknown, Charles Matthews is a good comparison. George Washington III was described by Dug McDaniels as a good shooter but probably won't see more than 10 minutes per game. Jace Howard is listed as a guard but it's unlikely that he'll be a lot more than he was last year.  3. Michigan Men's Basketball Frontcourt Starts at 45:38 Takes hotter than Edward Norton Jr. after seeing Connor Stalions on the sidelines at CMU and he's like "I GOT THIS ROLE. THIS IS ALL ME, BABY". Tarris Reed is your starter, who is also Not Hunter Dickinson. He was slightly better defensively than Hunter Dickinson but the offensive drop-off was much bigger. Also needs to be better than 40% at free throws! Olivier Nkamhoua was a big contributor for the #1 defense in the country last year. That is already a huge upgrade defensively at the 4. He won't solve all your problems but is a very good, veteran basketball player. Seth thinks the final starting spot is Terrance Williams II, Brian thinks it's Tray Jackson. Will Tschetter: exists. Youssef Khayat could be a guy.  4. 2023-2024 Men's Basketball Overview Starts at 1:21:19 Making the tournament is a reasonable goal for this team. Where is Michigan going to get their points from? This gets made up by the massive defensive improvements. Michigan loses Jett Howard to the NBA but Michigan was a better team without Jett Howard. Juwan Howard is still recovering from heart surgery and has not been available in the pre-season coaching. There are going to be some hiccups with this team but all the transfers coming in are very experienced players from good teams. The vibes were awful last year but should be much better this year.  MUSIC: “U-Love”— J Dilla “Crosshairs”— Dangerdoom, MFDoom “Smooth Aisles”—  Michael Nau “Across 110th Street”

The bases are expanding from 15-inch squares to 18 inches, which cuts down the distance between them by 4 1/2 inches. The distance between third and home and home and first was trimmed by 3 inches. With the new bases, major league teams could try a more aggressive approach on the basepaths. The bases also could help prevent injuries. NCAAFB – Jim Harbaugh: Michigan good place to be despite challenges Jim Harbaugh says that Michigan might not be perfect, but that the football program “doesn’t get any better” compared to other programs. Since losing in the College Football Playoff semifinals, Harbaugh interviewed with the Denver Broncos and talked to the NCAA about alleged violations. He also fired an assistant coach under investigation by police. Harbaugh said multiple coaches on his staff had conversations with NFL teams but chose to stay at the school, adding: ““People do what they think is best for them professionally and personally.” Golf – PGA – Horschel, Bramlett lead Honda Classic with 1st-round 65s Billy Horschel has never won a PGA Tour event in his home state of Florida. His quest to change that is off to a fine start. Horschel shot a 5-under 65 on Thursday, tying him with Joseph Bramlett for the first-round lead in the Honda Classic at PGA National. Bramlett had a bogey-free round. Horschel had six birdies and one bogey. Pierceson Coody and Justin Suh were one shot back. NCAAMBKB – Men's College Basketball Last Night Michigan 93, Nebraska 72 Georgia Tech 70, Notre Dame 68 Michigan 93, Nebraska 72 – Michigan wins third straight, 93-72 over Nebraska Jett Howard made six 3-pointers and scored 22 points, Hunter Dickinson had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Michigan beat Nebraska 93-72. Nebraska, which trailed by 24 points in the first half, got within 48-39 early in the second half — the closest margin since 21-12. But Dickinson answered with a basket to put Michigan ahead by double digits for the rest of the game. Howard made four 3-pointers in the second half and scored 16 points, and Dickinson added 14 points. Michigan led for over 36 minutes and shot 57.6% from the field, including 14 of 26 from 3-point range.  Dug McDaniel added 14 points, Kobe Bufkin had 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists for Michigan (14-10, 8-5 Big Ten). Joey Baker added 11 points and Terrance Williams II scored 10. Georgia Tech 70, Notre Dame 68 – Georgia Tech beats Notre Dame on Terry’s tip-in at buzzer Lance Terry scored 19 points, the last two on a game-winning tip-in at the buzzer that gave Georgia Tech a 70-68 victory over Notre Dame. With the score tied at 68 with five seconds remaining, the Yellow Jackets' Kyle Sturdivant drove the left side of the lane and missed a step-back jumper along the baseline. Terry, who had inbounded the ball after a timeout, followed down the left side and delivered a two-handed tip-in for the victory that snapped a nine-game losing streak. Georgia Tech held Notre Dame to 1-of-11 field goal shooting over the final seven minutes and the Yellow Jackets won despite making only 2 of 8 shots down the stretch. NBA – National Basketball Association Last Night Cleveland Cavaliers 113, Detroit Pistons 85 Miami Heat 116, Indiana Pacers 111 Cavs 113, Pistons 85 – Allen, Mobley power Cavaliers to 113-85 win over Pistons Jarrett Allen scored 20 points, Evan Mobley added 19 and the Cleveland Cavaliers won their fourth straight game, 113-85 over the Detroit Pistons despite resting their starting backcourt. All-Star starter Donovan Mitchell (groin) and Darius Garland (thumb) got the night off to heal some nagging injuries and the Cavs barely missed their top guards. With Allen and Mobley doing inside damage and combining for 21 points, Cleveland built an 18-point lead after one quarter. The Pistons got within two in the third before the Cavs outscored Detroit 26-4 to start the fourth. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 15 to lead Detroit. The Pistons have dropped nine of 11. Heat 116, Pacers 111 – Adebayo scores 38, Heat hold off sliding Pacers 116-111 Bam Adebayo tied his season high with 38 points, Jimmy Butler added 25 and the Miami Heat held off the Indiana Pacers 116-111 on Wednesday night. Buddy Hield scored 29 points for Indiana, which has lost 13 of its last 15 games. Myles Turner had 23 points and 11 rebounds. Tonight Chicago Bulls at Brooklyn Nets, 7:30 p.m. NBA – Reports: Suns get All-Star Kevin Durant in trade with Nets The Phoenix Suns acquired 13-time All-Star Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets, according to multiple reports. The outlets, citing unnamed sources, said the Suns added Durant to a starting lineup that already includes an All-Star backcourt of Chris Paul and Devin Booker, along with center Deandre Ayton. Phoenix sent Cam Johnson, Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder, four first-round picks and additional draft compensation to the Nets. The Suns also receive forward T.J. Warren in the deal. NBA – AP source: Lakers trading Westbrook to Utah in 3-team swap The Los Angeles Lakers are trading Russell Westbrook to Utah and reacquiring guard D'Angelo Russell from Minnesota in a three-team, eight-player deal, a person with knowledge of the trade told The Associated Press. LA is also getting guard Malik Beasley and forward Jarred Vanderbilt from the Jazz. Minnesota is getting Mike Conley Jr. and Nickeil Alexander-Walker from Utah along with three second-round picks, while the Lakers are sending Juan Toscano-Anderson, Damian Jones and their first-round pick in 2027 to Utah with Westbrook. Westbrook's tenure with his hometown team lasted just 130 tumultuous games. NCAAWBKB – Women's College Basketball Last Night Michigan State 88, Wisconsin 63 Ball State 68, Eastern Michigan 50 Kent State 68, Central Michigan 63 Miami (OH) 71, Western Michigan 53 Tonight Pittsburgh at (10) Notre Dame, 6:00 p.m. NHL – National Hockey League Tonight Calgary Flames at Detroit Red Wings, 7:00 p.m. NFL – Chiefs’ Mahomes says ankle will be ready for Super Bowl Patrick Mahomes says he's “definitely in a better spot” when it comes to his ailing right ankle than he was for the AFC championship game. The All-Pro quarterback also says he doesn't expect to be limited by it when he leads the Kansas City Chiefs against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. Mahomes spoke before Wednesday’s practice at Arizona State’s facility. He said he’ll probably continue to get treatment on the ankle he hurt against Jacksonville in the divisional round throughout the week and possibly right up until kickoff. NFL – Super Bowl has rare matchup of top 2 regular-season teams This year's Super Bowl features a rare matchup of the NFL's top two teams from the regular season. The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs were the league's only 14-game winners, marking just the sixth time since the 1970 merger that the squads with sole possession of the two best records in the regular season met for the championship. The last time it happened came after the 2013 season when Seattle beat Denver 43-8 in a matchup of 13-win teams. NCAAFB – Northwestern to host Iowa at Wrigley Field Wrigley Field will host a college football game for the third time since 2010 when Iowa plays Northwestern next season. Northwestern and the Chicago Cubs announced that the Wildcats' home game would be played Nov. 4. Northwestern played Illinois at Wrigley in 2010 in the MLB ballpark's first college football game since 1938 and the Wildcats hosted Purdue there in 2021. Wrigley Field has a long history of hosting football games. The Chicago Bears played there from 1921 to 1970. The old Chicago Cardinals also played at Wrigley Field as well as DePaul University until its program folded in 1939. SPHL – Minor league hockey game a forfeit after home team no-shows A bizarre scene unfolded in a low-level minor hockey league over the weekend: The home team didn't show up. The visiting team from Quad City took the ice for warmups at the arena in Danville, Illinois, for a Southern Professional Hockey League game at the Vermilion County Bobcats. Fans filed in, vendors sold concessions and officials were there to drop the puck. But the Bobcats had no players, their coach did not show up and they had no athletic trainer on site. After a delay of game penalty and 5-minute delay, it was declared a forfeit and visiting players skated with fans and took the 3-hour bus ride home. There are now concerns last-place Vermilion County, which has lost 77 of 86 games in its existence, will fold midseason. Olympics – Probe into US Olympic failings stunted by red tape in DC More than two years since it was greenlighted by Congress, the panel established to probe the inner workings of the U.S. Olympics has yet to conduct a formal interview because of bureaucratic red tape in Washington. The Commission on the State of U.S. Olympics and Paralympics is charged with looking how U.S. leaders handled sex-abuse cases that were mismanaged for decades. It took 19 months after it was established in October 2020 for the commission to receive the $2 million Congress budgeted for its use. Then, it took eight more months to identify and hire the panel's executive director. Now that those issues are resolved, however, the commission has to decide how to spend the money by Sept. 30 or risk not being able to use it. NBA – AP source: Lakers trading Westbrook to Utah in 3-team swap The Los Angeles Lakers are trading Russell Westbrook to Utah and reacquiring guard D’Angelo Russell from Minnesota in a three-team, eight-player deal, a person with knowledge of the trade told The Associated Press. Westbrook’s tenure with his hometown team lasted just 130 tumultuous games. NCAAWBKB – Women’s College Basketball Last Night Michigan State 88, Wisconsin 63 Ball State 68, Eastern Michigan 50 Kent State 68, Central Michigan 63 Miami (OH) 71, Western Michigan 53 Tonight Pittsburgh at (10) Notre Dame, 6:00 p.m. NHL – National Hockey League Tonight Calgary Flames at Detroit Red Wings, 7:00 p.m. NFL – Chiefs’ Mahomes says ankle will be ready for Super Bowl Patrick Mahomes says he’s “definitely in a better spot” when it comes to his ailing right ankle than he was for the AFC championship game. The All-Pro quarterback also says he doesn’t expect to be limited by it when he leads the Kansas City Chiefs against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. Mahomes spoke before Wednesday’s practice at Arizona State’s facility. He said he’ll probably continue to get treatment on the ankle he hurt against Jacksonville in the divisional round throughout the week and possibly right up until kickoff. NFL – Super Bowl has rare matchup of top 2 regular-season teams This year’s Super Bowl features a rare matchup of the NFL’s top two teams from the regular season. The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs were the league’s only 14-game winners, marking just the sixth time since the 1970 merger that the squads with sole possession of the two best records in the regular season met for the championship. Northwestern and the Chicago Cubs announced that the Wildcats’ home game would be played Nov. 4. Northwestern played Illinois at Wrigley in 2010 in the MLB ballpark’s first college football game since 1938 and the Wildcats hosted Purdue there in 2021. Wrigley Field has a long history of hosting football games. The Chicago Bears played there from 1921 to 1970. The old Chicago Cardinals also played at Wrigley Field as well as DePaul University until its program folded in 1939. SPHL – Minor league hockey game a forfeit after home team no-shows A bizarre scene unfolded in a low-level minor hockey league over the weekend: The home team didn’t show up. Then, it took eight more months to identify and hire the panel’s executive director. Now that those issues are resolved, however, the commission has to decide how to spend the money by Sept. 30 or risk not being able to use it. NCAAMBKB – Men’s College Basketball Last Night Michigan 93, Nebraska 72 Georgia Tech 70, Notre Dame 68 Michigan 93, Nebraska 72 – Michigan wins third straight, 93-72 over Nebraska Jett Howard made six 3-pointers and scored 22 points, Hunter Dickinson had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Michigan beat Nebraska 93-72. With the score tied at 68 with five seconds remaining, the Yellow Jackets’ Kyle Sturdivant drove the left side of the lane and missed a step-back jumper along the baseline. Westbrook’s tenure with his hometown team lasted just 130 tumultuous games. Then, it took eight more months to identify and hire the panel’s executive director. Now that those issues are resolved, however, the commission has to decide how to spend the money by Sept. 30 or risk not being able to use it. 2 hours and 13 minutes The Sponsors Thank you to Underground Printing for making this all possible. Rishi and Ryan have been our biggest supporters from the beginning. Check out their wide selection of officially licensed Michigan fan gear at their 3 store locations in Ann Arbor or learn about their custom apparel business at undergroundshirts.com. Our associate sponsors are: Peak Wealth Management, HomeSure Lending, Ann Arbor Elder Law, Michigan Law Grad, Human Element, The Phil Klein Insurance Group, Venue by 4M where we recorded this, TicketIQ! and The Nose Bleeds, which is the Sklars Bros' reboot of Cheap Seats on UFC Fight Pass. 1. The Backcourt starts at 1:00 Hoping Jaelin Llewellyn's length solves some of the guard defense because there's been a high floor for opponent possessions with the shorties. Don't know if he can translate into a point guard since he's always been more of an SG but makes good decisions and shares the ball for a #2 scorer on a good team. Won't have to be that here. Dug is a pest on defense, too small to hold up as a true freshman, but supposed to be quite the passer and can shoot. Kobe Bufkin is young and just gained a lot of poundage, is Caris-like but NOT Caris. Can shoot. At the three is Jett, and he can shoot too—defense might be a work in progress this year. Joey Baker can give you 15 minutes a game as a JAS. If Isaiah Barnes can play now he will play now. [The rest of the writeup and the player after THE JUMP] 2. The Frontcourt starts at 31:08 The four is going to be Terrance Williams II and we all trip over ourselves to be the first to hint, then say he was outplaying Caleb Houstan last year. Like him at the four where his agility is not as big of a deal and he adds to the spacing. Backup is murky—will Youssef Khayat be big enough to assist here as a Franz-alike by later in the year? How about Jace Howard? Go small? Tschetter's defensive liabilities for his offensive prowess? With all these shooters Hunter Dickinson gets to feast. Won't have to stretch as much this year, will get more assists just because the guys he's passing to will make the shots. Best player in the league, better at drop coverage. Tarris Reed has treetrunk legs, gets to develop behind Hunter for a year. 3. How it Fits and Around the League starts at 58:02 Who is Juwan Howard's favorite son? The Big Ten is down as we cast about for contenders. Not buying Indiana's case of Xavier Johnson and TJD because what kind of case is that, except probably the best one in the B10 right now. Not State—they don't have a center save Mady Sissoko. Illinois? They lost as much as they brought in (lots). Purdue? No point, Brandon Newman and Zach Edey and Eric Hunter and Mason Gillis will certainly get them in the playoffs but scoring will be an issue even if Caleb Furst blows up like we think he will. Ohio State lost a ton, added transfers and freshmen—all slice and dicers save the JAS from WVU—to Zed Key and Justice Sueing. Iowa will be Iowa, replacing Keegan Murray with his literal clone Kris. Seth tries to sell us all on Rutgers because of continuity, but Geo Baker and Ron Harper Jr. are gone. Wisconsin…errrr….they'll probably have someone—not Tyler Wahl—emerge. Maryland takes a step back, will play small with Donta Scott at C as Kevin Willard takes a Year Zero. Penn State has a 6x transfer. Minnesota…isn't Nebraska. Pete Nance is gone from NWern—GO CHASE AUDIGE GO! 4. Hot Takes and Around the Big Ten With Jamie Mac starts at 1:27:45 Takes hotter than a four year old that just discovered a piece of carrot in her ramen. Despite Ohio State winning 54-10 against Iowa, there is a lot to unpack. CJ Stroud had a typical day but Ohio State's rushing offense struggled. Iowa turned the ball over six time. Ohio State only scored one touchdown in their first ten drives. Iowa was desperate enough to bring in Padilla and it was also a disaster. Are we actually seeing the unraveling of the Ferentz era (or will it still take three years for Iowa to finally let him go?). Iowa's offensive EPA was -51 points... NEGATIVE FIFTY ONE. Michigan might actually have a reasonable enough chance to slow down Ohio State's offense enough to... win. Penn State bounces back and holds Mo Ibrahim to only 102 yards (3.4 avg). Sean Clifford played a great game. Tanner Morgan was out with a concussion and backup Athan Kaliakmanis did not look as good. Jamie has discovered an interesting stat about Minnesota coaching regimes. No Taulia Tagovailoa for Maryland against Northwestern, Northwestern's quarterback is Some Guy. This is just a totally differeny Maryland team right now. Maryland's 330 lbs center got flagged for doing a cartwheel - worth it. Need Penn State and Maryland to keep winning to help Michigan's chances of making the CFP just in case Michigan loses to Ohio State and goes 11-1 - imagine if Michigan missed the CFP because they cancelled the UCLA game. Wisconsin scores 21 points against Purdue in the first quarter and then glide paths to the finish line. This was Wisconsin's 16th straight win against Purdue. Rutgers vs Indiana - confirmed, both teams are bad.  MUSIC: "Soul Flower"—Pharcyde "Leave It In My Dreams"—The Voidz "I Can't Explain"—David Bowie “Across 110th Street”

Hi, this is Garrison Hardie with your CrossPolitic Daily News Brief, for Wednesday, February 23rd, 2022. Today, you’ll hear about the potential of truckers descending on DC, it’s about time! The Chinese Social Credit System, and basketball, is actually a contact sport! First, let’s go to DC. DC prepares for possible US 'Freedom Convoy,' officials request National Guard troops https://www.foxnews.com/us/dc-prepares-apparent-us-trucker-convoy-ottawa-protest-ends We’ve been covering a lot of the Freedom convoy in Canada, well now, Washington, D.C., appears to be preparing for thousands of truckers who plan to descend on the U.S. capital in the coming days. State and local law enforcement have called in support from the National Guard In anticipation of the massive convoy in the D.C. area between late February and late March, a government source told Fox News on Tuesday. Two tow trucks were spotted early Tuesday parked along the D.C.’s National Mall at 7th and D Street and at 12th and C Street Southwest. The owner of the towing company told Fox News via phone that the city of D.C. hired them for "public work" that could last up to 10 days. The owner said they were specifically hired ahead of the trucking protest, and they've been instructed to clear any vehicles that illegally block the D.C. streets. He said they have no idea when the truckers might arrive. Joe Rogan guest plays a TERRIFYING video exposing coming "digital ID" dystopia: Just a warning, there’s a little bit of language in here: joe rogan guest plays scary video exposing coming quot digital id quot dystopia scloudtomp3downloadePlay 0:06-2:19 Joe’s guest mentioned two items: What’s going on in the UK, and the Chinese Social Credit System. Let’s take them one at a time. According to msn.com: The Bank of England has called on ministers to decide whether a central bank digital currency should be “programmable”, ultimately giving the issuer control over how it is spent by the recipient. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/money/other/bank-of-england-tells-ministers-to-intervene-on-digital-currency-programming/ar-AALhtDP Tom Mutton, a director at the Bank of England, said during a conference on Monday that programming could become a key feature of any future central bank digital currency, in which the money would be programmed to be released only when something happened. He said: “You could introduce programmability - what happens if one of the participants in a transaction puts a restriction on [future use of the money]? “There could be some socially beneficial outcomes from that, preventing activity which is seen to be socially harmful in some way. But at the same time it could be a restriction on people’s freedoms.” He warned that the Government would be required to intervene and make the final decision. Mr Mutton said: “That is a really delicate debate that needs to be had. It is not something we can settle ourselves, that is for the Government to lead on.” Yes, because if there’s anything we’ve learned over the past year or two, is that we can trust the government to lead on that front. Great point Tom! China's 'social credit' system ranks citizens and punishes them with throttled internet speeds and flight bans if the Communist Party deems them untrustworthy https://www.businessinsider.com/china-social-credit-system-punishments-and-rewards-explained-2018-4 This is from the Business Insider: The Chinese Communist Party has been constructing a moral ranking system for years that will monitor the behavior of its enormous population — and rank them all based on their "social credit." The "social credit system," first announced in 2014, is "an important component part of the Socialist market economy system and the social governance system" and aims to reinforce the idea that "keeping trust is glorious and breaking trust is disgraceful," according to a 2015 government document. The article continues, Bad driving and debt could get you downgraded in the social ranking system: Like private credit scores, a person's social score can move up and down depending on their behavior. Examples of infractions include bad driving, smoking in non-smoking zones, buying too many video games, and posting fake news online… we’d be in jail over there I can tell you that much. They can also clamp down on luxury options — many are barred from getting business-class train tickets, and some are kept out of the best hotels. The Big Ten also suspended three players one game for the altercation following the Badgers' 77-63 win on Sunday with Michigan's Moussa Diabate and Terrance Williams II, and Jahcobi Neath of Wisconsin sitting out their team's next game. This isn’t the first time that Juwan Howard has had an altercation as a head coach though… Last year, during the Big 10 Championship, Howard got ejected from a game against Maryland, and had to be held back by assistant coaches and players. Maryland also alleges that Howard told Maryland head coach, Mark Turgeon, “I’ll F–king kill you”. Howard retorted that Turgeon had charged him, and explained quote: "I don’t know how you guys were raised but how I was raised by my grandmother and also by Chicago. I was raised by Chicago, I grew up on the South Side, when guys charge you, it’s time to defend yourself." Are you starting to sense a pattern here? This pattern starts to beg the question… should Juwan Howard still have this job? Of course, you have to remember in this day and age, Michigan would probably be labeled as racist were they to fire a black coach, especially in the wake of the NFL being sued by a disgruntled former Dolphins coach, Brian Flores. … Howard has released a statement since his suspension saying quote: “After taking time to reflect on all that happened, I realize how unacceptable both my actions and words were, and how they affected so many. I am truly sorry.” “I am offering my sincerest apology to my players and their families, my staff, my family and the Michigan fans around the world. I would like to personally apologize to Wisconsin’s assistant coach Joel Krabbenhoft and his family, too.” “Lastly, I speak a lot about being a Michigan man and representing the University of Michigan with class and pride. I did not do that, nor did I set the right example in the right way for my student-athletes. I will learn from my mistake and this mistake will never happen again. No excuses!” You know what that reminded me of? I state my regret. (The Office)-Whole video Ah, anything for an Office reference.
