On Friday's Mark Levin Show, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested for trespassing at a federal ICE detention facility he wants to close. He refused to leave when asked, showing politicians' arrogance. Trespassing and refusing to leave leads to arrest, as nobody, including politicians, is above the law. Protesting inside a federal law enforcement center isn't allowed, and while ICE enforces the law, Democrats claim they're unrestrained by it. Interim U.S. Attorney for NJ Alina Habba calls in to explain exactly what happened with the arrest. This is federal property, and the laws can't be broken, no matter who you are. Also, AG Letitia James dismisses the mortgage fraud allegations against her as unfounded, despite published forms and evidence suggesting criminal activity. Later, 15 states are suing over Trump's order to speed up oil and gas projects. Most likely, a judge will block energy independence. It's time for the Supreme Court to step up against these rogue judges. There might be a time when Americans defy the courts because they won't respect the rogue activity of these judges. If judges won't abide by the law, why should the people listen to their orders? This is all about sabotage and obstruction by these judges. Afterward, Trump is considering a plan to strengthen ties with Greenland by proposing a Compact of Free Association (COFA), similar to agreements with Pacific Island nations. This brilliant move aims to bring Greenland into America's sphere of influence. This is what a consequential president does. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
AP correspondent Julie Walker reports a GOP congressman was peppered with questions about Trump during a raucous town hall.
Republican congressman holds event in Somers Voters in Rep. Mike Lawler's suburban New York swing district, which includes Philipstown, unloaded a barrage of criticism on the Republican during a raucous town hall in Somers on Sunday (May 4), peppering him with questions around President Donald Trump's aggressive agenda before devolving into a chaotic chorus of boos as attendees were removed by law enforcement. Lawler has promised to hold town halls in Dutchess and Putnam counties in June. He hosted one in Rockland County on April 27 that was equally raucous. The event in Somers began to teeter off the rails soon after it began. The first crack emerged when Lawler, in his opening remarks, told the packed prep school auditorium: "This is what democracy looks like." Laughter crept through the crowd. A little while later, the congressman's mention of federal health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. drew loud jeers. "So you want, for instance, petroleum-based dyes to continue?" Lawler asked in response. Republicans, in some instances, have made themselves scarce in their home districts following Trump's first few months in office, as party leadership expresses wariness of viral blowback against Republicans in vulnerable seats. Lawler, a moderate who last year won a second term and has openly expressed interest in running for governor, has instead put himself in front of voters. On Sunday, Lawler's staff required people to RSVP and set up a series of ground rules, including that attendees live in the district, not record at the event, refrain from shouting or standing, and "be respectful of one another, of staff, and of the congressman," a sign at the door read. At one point, as Lawler was responding to a question about tariffs, security and law enforcement began to surround a woman in the upper stretch of the auditorium. The crowd chanted "let her stay, let her stay" before law enforcement picked her up and carried her out. It was unclear what exactly led to her removal. "Shame! Shame! Shame!," the audience yelled. Lawler tried to get back on track: "Folks, tariffs are way more complicated than you want to make them." The crowd groaned. "Folks, enough!" Lawler said above the din. Soon after, another person was removed. Then another. In the audience, Jeanette Spoor, a 74-year-old retiree, said she wanted to ask Lawler about Social Security and Medicaid but wasn't called on during the nearly two-hour event. "You're not helping your constituents if you're making it hard for them to get help," she said in an interview. "I have no hopes for this guy." Another attendee, Kristi Thompson, 52, said she was bothered by what she said were Lawler's long-winded answers that didn't address the substance of the crowd's questions. "He claims to be available to constituents, but he isn't," she said. The crowd walked out during the final question of the night, which was about protests against Israel. Lawler began to answer but cut himself off as the room emptied out. "I appreciate everybody coming out tonight and taking the time to ask your questions and hear my answers, whether you liked them or not, or agreed with them or not, or whether you really actually wanted to listen to them or not, but I very much appreciate you participating," he said.

Aussie band Kingswood are rock royalty, having played shows with AC/DC and The Hives, tearing down the rooves of Aussie venues in equal measure with their unique brand of raucous rock. In 2024, the band undertook a record-setting road trip across Australia with the Hometowns Tour, the longest ever music tour, encompassing 112 shows over six months, with everywhere from the outer regions of Western Australia to the sticky floors of Sydney getting a taste of their guitar licks and long hair. Knowing what a historical moment this would be for the band, Kingswood tapped emerging director Darcy Newton on the shoulder to shoot social media footage and share their journey on the road. That notion quickly fell by the wayside when Darcy realised there was something more at play here, with his trusty camera able to capture the highs and the lows of the bands journey, ultimately bringing forth the feature documentary CLAPTRAP.In the following interview, recorded ahead of the films roll out in Australian cinemas which kicks off with a premiere event at The Astor Theatre Melbourne on Friday 4 April, and culminates with a Q&A screening at The Ritz Sydney on Friday 11 April, Darcy and producer Luca Catalano talk about how they came on board to shoot the film, what life was like on the bus with the band, and how Darcy captured some of CLAPTRAP's more impactful moments, like a late night boozy chat with a regional music icon or a deep and meaningful chat between bandmates about the meaning of one of their songs.CLAPTRAP AUSTRALIAN SCREENINGS** KINGSWOOD attending Friday 4 April Astor Theatre Melbourne **PREMIERE EVENTTicketsSaturday 5 April Thornbury Picture House Melbourne **SCREENING, Q&A EVENTTicketsSunday 6 April Pivotonian Cinema GeelongSCREENING, Q&A EVENT Wednesday 9 April Regal Theatre Adelaide SA SCREENINGWednesday 9 April Byron Bay Palace Byron Bay NSW **SCREENING, Q&A EVENT Thursday 10 April New Farm Cinema Brisbane ** SCREENING, Q&A EVENT TicketsFriday 11 April The Ritz Sydney **SCREENING, Q&A EVENT Hosted on Acast. Raucous club jams from the trio setting pace for a new generation of electronic fans: Dazegxd, gum.mp3 & Swami Sound, AKA EldiaNYC. Something exciting is happening on the margins of online club music. As one generation ages out, another, predominantly made up of Zoomers and Zillennials who fell into rave music mid-pandemic or arrived via gaming, is on the rise. Some of the most dialled-in electronic fans out there have threadbare connection to formalised nightlife, filling their diet instead with DJ Ess, Jane Remover, Jet Set Radio and a thriving ecosystem of global splinter styles that would draw stares from anyone who settled into their preferences pre-2019. Leading the charge—while pointedly reaffirming the value of connection as they go—are EldiaNYC, whose combination of jungle, garage, vintage Black American dance music, regional rap and screen-glued splinter styles hits like a shot of adrenaline. Swami Sound broke first with sexy drill-laced 2-step edits, and last year we named gum.mp3's "Black Life, Red Planet" as one of our favourite records—but it could have just as easily been Dazegxd's breaks-splicing "exhibition mode" instead. Eldia stack sets on radio and at parties with startlingly-fresh producers, many still in their teens. This might also be the only RA Podcast to fold in soulful ghettotech from Mr De', head-in-the-clouds plugg from rising star 454, edits of both Bounty Killer and Toro Y Moi, and multiple names (Guido YZ, synta3x, DJ B) who haven't registered on the series before. With one eye on the occasion, Eldia tip their hats to lineage, too. The trio kick off with a double scoop of Fred P, before ramping up steadily through slick forthcoming material and ironclad modern anthems on their way to a crescendo of footwork chops, baile drums and breakbeat delirium. Leaders of a new wave in the US, it surely won't be long before Daze, gum and Swami have swept the international circuit. For now, RA.977 will leave your subs smoking. @dazegxd @eldia000 @masutaswami @gum_mp3 Find the interview and tracklist at ra.co/podcast/977
We Forgot to Break Up tells the story of fictional Canadian band The New Normals; an indie rock group that transcends labels and definition, and changes the scene of indie rock music. The New Normals is led by Evan (excellently portrayed by Lane Webber), a trans man singer-songwriter who has the big stage in mind all the while trying to navigate his relationship with his girlfriend Isis (June Laporte). Evan finds his relationships tested as the arrival of the new guitarist Lugh (Daniel Gravelle) catches his attention, and possible affection. We Forgot to Break Up is adapted from Kayt Burgess' Heidegger Stairwell and feels pulled directly from an era where each new indie rock song that you heard spoke to your deepest emotions in a way that you'd never expected. The New Normals echoes the great bands of the era, with the strains of Broken Social Scene's guitars being felt throughout the soundtrack. There's a wealth of great original songs too written by Torquil Campbell from the band Stars. In one of the films many memorable moments, the band is living in a share house loft which acts as a creative space, and a space to earn money too, with bassist Coco (Hallea Jones) working as a phone sex worker to bring money in. Her responses to the client on the other end of the line spur Evan into writing a song that then becomes a hit for the band. There's a wealth of heart and compassion within We Forgot to Break Up, but it's also a film that really sinks its fingers into the dirt and vibe of the indie rock scene, with Knox pulling from the aesthetic of the celebrated documentary Dig! We Forgot to Break Up really leans into that lived-in feeling, making the film feel almost documentary like at times, and in turn, it gives space to let the lives of the queer folk who make up the cast and characters simply live as they want to. While this is, ostensibly, a film about queer folks, their queer identity is not the main focus of the film, and that in itself is a refreshing, invigorating act of resistance. In the following interview with Knox and Lane, recorded ahead of the films launch at the Queer Screen Mardi Gras Film Festival on Tuesday 18 February, where they both will be in attendance for a Q&A, we chat about the creation of the film, the choice of songs featured, and how that lived in feeling was created on screen. We close the chat by talking about what it means to be telling Canadian queer stories on screen right now.I had an absolute ball watching We Forgot to Break Up, lapping up the wicked guitar licks and band drama, all the while losing myself with the excellent performances. And that was just from watching it at home; so I can only imagine what the experience would be like to see it with a full audience. Make sure to pick up your tickets to see We Forgot to Break Up via QueerScreen.org.au. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We watched delegates at the Utah GOP convention boo Governor Cox. He wasn't the first governor booed at that event. This year was a particularly divisive year where even our Lt. Governor said she didn't feel comfortable bringing children to the event. KSL Newsradio's Amanda Dickson asked her guests about this on A Woman's View. Her guests this week include Christine Cooke Fairbanks, education policy fellow at the Sutherland Institute, Lisa Walker, certified athletic trainer and teacher at Springville High School and Shauna Scott-Bellacomo, former president of Women's State Legislative Council.
There were dramatically different takes from the two Republican candidates for governor on how last weekend's state party convention in Spokane went down. https://tinyurl.com/pr84k2r2 #TheCenterSquare #Washington #Republican #gubernatorialcandidates #governorsrace #WashingtonStateRepublicanParty #SemiBird #DaveReichert #delegates #statepartyconvention #PartyChairJimWalsh #VancouverWa #ClarkCountyWa #ClarkCountyNews #ClarkCountyToday

On today's episode of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's "Politically Georgia" podcast, the panel looks at the anger, fear and political dynamics that have been sparked by the killing of Laken Riley and charges of murder in the case against a man who authorities say entered the country illegally. Then, the panel looks at the results of the presidential primaries in Michigan. Does the large number of Democrats who voted for “uncommitted” spell trouble for President Joe Biden? What does it mean that 25% of Republicans did not vote for Donald Trump? Finally, the panel discusses the latest news in the effort by defense attorneys to have Fani Willis and Nathan Wade disqualified from prosecuting the Georgia election conspiracy case against Trump and his co-defendants. Plus, a look at Patricia Murphy's column arguing that the focus of the Fulton County case has inappropriately shifted from the alleged efforts to overturn Georgia's election results to the behavior of Willis and Wade.
