Hello and welcome to episode 171 of the ACPG podcast. This week Ben is zooming with Los Angeles where he spoke with Nick and Kelsey of the fantastic Local Natives. Now, I (Ben) have been a massive fan of Local Natives since their debut album Gorilla Manor and especially the songs Sun Hands and Airplanes. So it was great to talk to them about that but also the release of their new album Time Waits For No One. We spoke about the new album, record release parties, and touring, and more. The album was preceded at the tail-end of last year by the swaggering psychedelia-tinged indie-pop of ‘Just Before the Morning' which jumped up to the B-list at 6Music, as well as seeing them doing an LA residency back in December that saw them joined on the stage by contemporaries including Best Coast, Darkside and Miya Folick. The past year or so has also seen them hit up Jimmy Kimmel twice, one of which saw them joined by Sharon Van Etten for their collaborative track ‘Lemon', while they also headed out on a sold-out US tour last summer as well as stop-offs at Lollapalooza, Outsidelands and a bunch more staples of the US festival circuit. The band are also celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their commercial breakthrough Hummingbird album this year, which feels ripe for revisiting (it is still a total knockout). This new set finds the band linking with Grammy-winning producer John Congleton (Death Cab, Sharon Van Etten, St. Vincent) for a run of sessions across a number of historic LA studios that birthed a set of songs rooted in metamorphosis: taking in newfound fatherhood, periods of isolation, loss and identity crisis. Through it all though, the band were reminded that the constants are the people you love and - in their case - their fellow bandmates. While the album's title Time Will Wait For No One has its ominous undertones, the sentiment at the core of the album is that your loved ones will. Can't recommend spending a bit of headphone time with the new record enough if you get a moment, the production on it is glorious - something they've really honed over the four albums to date that have seen them quietly become one of the most consistently acclaimed bands of the last decade (not a single album below a 75 on Metacritic). Thank you to Nick and Kelsey, and Alex and Vanessa for all their help with this episode.

It's Time to talk about a sweet Child in Time. She is Passing the Time by asking, Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is? She DOES know that you cannot squeeze Time Out of Mind, that Only Time Will Tell, and that Time Waits For No One. And there Comes a Time she realizes that the Time Has Come Today.
MARC STORACE was already internationally successful with the Swiss cult band "TEA" in the 1970s. TEA released 5 albums and 3 singles. In 1979 Marc became the voice of KROKUS. After their first album with Marc, "Metal Rendez-Vous" (with the hit "Bedside Radio"), the rise to a successful international career was unstoppable. KROKUS played several world tours and sold over 15 million records and won many gold and platinum awards. After internal quarrels, KROKUS broke up and Marc released the album “Blue” in 1991 with the band “Blue”. The hit "You Can't Stop The Rainfall" is still played on the radio today. In the 90s and 2000s Marc starred in 2 feature films (“ANUK” and “HANDYMAN”), and again achieved gold status with various KROKUS formations and 3 albums. Marc stayed present with his fans with many guest appearances such as “Rock Meets Classic”, “Sweet 50th Anniversary”, “Ken Hensley live in Switzerland”, “Schubert In Rock”, or on the albums of Manfred Ehlert's “Amen” and the rock opera “Test”. In 2008 the music scene was surprised with the news that the original formation of KROKUS would go on tour again. The success was indescribable. Tours in the USA, Japan, Europe and South America as well as 3 new studio albums, which in turn achieved platinum status, proved that KROKUS was still flourishing after more than 2000 shows in the last 30 years. In December 2019, KROKUS played their farewell concert in the sold out Hallenstadion in Zurich. Marc started working on his solo career at the beginning of 2021. His first solo CD is released in the USA & Canada February 5th, 2022 and going on tour with his own band “STORACE” in autumn is in the works. The fans will be amazed at the enthusiasm and freshness with which “STORACE” rocks the stage. He will showcase songs from his new CD and from his long career since the 1970s. Swiss hard rockers Krokus have retired. But singer Marc Storace is obviously not ready to stop. As STORACE, the now 70-year-old has his solo debut with LIVE AND LET LIVE. He does what he does best: he rocks. Without delivering a pure imitation of his former band. A bluesy undertone has crept in again and again, as in "Time Waits For No One", he has a rich power ballad in the program with "Lady Of The Night", the piano-driven "Don't Wanna Go" lets the emotions run wild. With "Paradise" you can hear folk influences, while the Rocker otherwise presses hard on the classic rock pedal. With LIVE AND LET LIVE, Storace has succeeded in making an excellent, heterogeneous new beginning that will win over both old Krokus fans and new listeners alike. The StoryThe Time Waits For No One Monastrell 2017 is 100% Monastrell (Mourvedre in France) produced by Finca Bacara (Finca translates to farm or vineyard) in the Jumilla DO of southeastern Spain. This wine is designated a DOP wine which is Spain's highest wine category and Monastrell is the #1 Red grape in Jumilla accounting for over 80% of the grapes grown. Jumilla is located on the plains between the mountains to the west and the Mediterranean Ocean to the east. And they have a wine history that goes back to the ancient Greeks, which is enough of the wine travelogue stuff and gets us to why this Monastrell is on this website...it has a skull and crossbones on the label. I can't decide if the bones are a pirate flag or if they are the universal symbol for poison, which would be an odd choice for something you are about to drink. But, it is October, Halloween is coming and we are on the look-out for appropriate Halloween party wines.Monastrell is the same as Mourvedre which is the M in the GSM blends of the Rhone Valley in France. It is typically a blending grape, but in Jumilla it is King. In doing a bit of research it seems that Monastrell has been grown in the area for about 1,500 years. The Time Waits For No One was aged in American oak barrels for 6 months. I found this bottle at Costco selling for $9.99 and prices on the web are all over the place, a range of $12 to $19, so grab it at Costco, if you can. The alcohol content is a sturdy 15%.The Tasting NotesThe color is dark, barely see-thru raspberry jelly red. The nose is earthy and slightly raisiny, there is exotic spice, vanilla, fudge chocolate, blackberry, and prune. This is a wine with a soft, beguiling mouth-feel upfront and gets rougher and more complex as the flavors play out. It tastes of blackberry, raisin, and plum, along with oak spice. The mid-palate shows some dusty tannins, a light sprinkle of Nestles Quik powder, and pomegranate. The acidity is balanced and the finish is full, if not particularly long-lasting.The Summary * The Time Waits For No One Monastrell is definitely not the same old, same old. Decanter gave this wine 95 points and Wine Spectator gave an earlier vintage 81 points and I get it, if you like this Monastrell you will really, really love it and if you don't you will hate it. And I think that is a sign of good wine, it isn't simple and easy. * This is a wine that tastes like Jumilla, Spain, not France, not Italy, not California, sometimes with New World wines the influences kind of blend together, but not here. * Take time to let this Monastrell breathe, as it opens up the flavors become richer and opulent.

What will the lads think of their time in 23rd century Venice in the Magrsverse? How has this story held up since its release in 2001? Opening music is from the Rolling Stone's 1974 song, "Time Waits For No One". Closing music is from Russell Stone's score of "The Stones of Venice".

I hope you enjoy this mix as much as i enjoyed producing it. The mix is a true reflection of what Habit has been to us for these last 5 years, so many good good memories and lots of friends made along the way! enjoy! Danny x We are 5!!! 1 Night, 900+ dancing feet, 10 hours, 13 DJ's & 3 P.A's BANK HOLIDAY THURSDAY 21st APRIL, 10pm - 8am @ THE SPACE (No work next day!!) In 2006 business partners Alex Simmons & Daniel John Aka Danny Bond had a vision that Leeds was missing a vital part of the clubbing jigsaw. After throwing around various ideas they decided Leeds needed a Thursday night event that was "by the people for the people", resulting in the birth of Habit. It was one of the first events to embrace the electro sound that was set to take the nation by storm, electro was still sexy, still vocal but with a dirty twist that rippled through your body and twisted your mind, body and soul. Habit’s music policy was and still is the same, playing tracks with no snobbery and welcomed anyone with a positive attitude and love for good music!
