Sam Pay (Song by Song podcast) and Hannah Wales (missflicks.com) return to Flixwatcher to review Sam's choice The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar (2023) is a short film based on a short story collection by Roald Dahl directed by Wes Anderson. It is the first in a four-part series of shorts adapted from Dahl's short stories collection and includes The Swan, The Rat Catcher and Poison. This is the second time Wes Anderson has adapted Roald Dahl and once again brings his trademark style to Dahl's much loved words. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar plus three more features a rotating cast that includes Benedict Cumberbatch as Henry Sugar, Max Engelman, and Harry Pope, Ralph Fiennes as Roald Dahl, the Policeman, and the Rat Man, Dev Patel as Dr. Chatterjee, John Winston, and Timber Woods, Ben Kingsley as Imdad Khan, the Dealer, and Dr. Ganderbai, Richard Ayoade as Dr. Marshall, the Great Yogi, and the Editor/Reporter and Rupert Friend as Peter Watson/Narrator and Claud. Scores for the four short films were mixed, general consensus was that The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar was the strongest of the four. With a combined runtime of less than 90 minutes, much shorter than most cinema releases, it still comes recommended with an overall score of 3.74. [WEEKEND RECAP 03-23-25] Here's what I would like you to do: mark this date. Whatever the numbers are or how the media portrays President Trump, just make a note. Because by summer, Trump will be on Mount Rushmore, metaphorically. For Democrats, this must feel like 4 Trump terms. He has decimated them in every area where they had gained a foothold. The only objective conclusion one can come to when looking at Leftist policies and what has been achieved is they hate America, and want only to profit from their dirty deeds. Trump's moves work. I have said this before, and will say it again. Look at Trump's policies and they MAKE COMMON SENSE. Who can debate shipping bad guys out of the country and making it SAFER?! In NYC, a man calmly at a dead rat on a busy sidewalk in broad daylight. He likely got a $20M grant to do it. But seriously, understand the mentality of a person who would do this, and he is walking the streets. I'm a lot more worried about the diseases that guy carries than the next version of COVID. Rat Man is a metaphor for Democrats. He does something grotesque and stupid, but nobody does anything about it. Soon, eating rats on the streets in broad daylight is considered “normal”. Democrats have no defense against two things: the truth and common sense. Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-kevin-jackson-show--2896352/support.

Haunted catacombs! Mysterious knights! Rat man! For those looking for a game manual on their quest through Vermis, you couldn't ask for more. For those looking to actually play Vermis, well, we've got bad news. The book is a video game manual for a retro soulslike that doesn't exist. It's a fantastic piece of meta-fiction with amazing art by Plastiboo, and we loved it so much---and had complicated feelings about the sequel. So select your character (Rat Man superiority) and dive in. Check out Vermis here: https://hollow-press.net/products/vermis-iSupport the show

In the latest episode of Florida's Fourth Estate, Tony Talcott, the digital producer behind some of the most viral stories on ClickOrlando, takes listeners on a journey through Florida's quirkiest and lesser-known stories. With a knack for uncovering the strange and unusual, Talcott has made a name for himself by finding and sharing these captivating tales. “Florida's history is full of interesting and quirky stories,” Talcott shares during the podcast, reflecting on his passion for these unique discoveries. From towns with odd names to mysterious vigilantes, Talcott delves into the bizarre yet fascinating corners of the Sunshine State. One of the standout stories discussed in the podcast is the origin of Taintsville, a small community in Seminole County. As Talcott explains, “They didn't really feel like they had a lot of identity, so a lot of the folks around there used to joke, ‘Well, we t'aint in Oviedo, and we t'aint in Chuluota.'” This playful origin story, based on the town's location between Oviedo and Chuluota, is a perfect example of the local humor that often defines Florida's communities. Talcott also addresses the infamous myth surrounding loofahs in The Villages, which many believed were being used as a secret code for swingers. “It seems like it was a joke that was made by a drag queen a few years back,” Tony clarifies, debunking the widely spread rumor. Instead, he discovered that the decorations on cars and golf carts were simply a way for elderly residents to find their vehicles in crowded parking lots. In another fascinating revelation, Talcott discusses the mysterious anti-gravity monuments found in Florida. These monuments were commissioned by millionaire Roger Babson, who, according to Tony, “really had a bone to pick with gravity” and blamed it for various societal issues, including the death of his sister. Babson's unique mission to “wage a war on gravity” led him to fund scientific research aimed at overcoming this natural force, resulting in these unusual monuments. The podcast also highlights the story of Ratman, a viral sensation at the University of Central Florida (UCF). As Tony recalls, “There was a viral video online of some guy in a rat costume... stopping a supposed bike thief on the campus.” The video, which was part of a student film project, quickly gained attention, with many students mistaking it for a real-life superhero incident. Talcott's top story, however, is about the hidden “Ginger Ale Spring” near I-4 in Longwood. This spring, which smells of sulfur, was once used by a ginger ale plant. “They thought this was gonna be the next big thing,” says Talcott, but the business never took off, leaving behind this curious relic in the woods. Tony Talcott's dedication to uncovering and sharing these stories has not only entertained but also educated many Floridians. As he puts it, “Finding out other folks like these stories too just makes me super happy.” For those eager to explore more of Florida's hidden gems, Tony's articles and appearances on ClickOrlando are a must-follow. Whether it's the bizarre origins of a town's name or the truth behind urban legends, Tony Talcott continues to shed light on the peculiar and captivating stories that make Florida one of the most interesting places in the world. Movie Synopsis: A police S.W.A.T. team investigate a mysterious VHS tape and discover a sinister cult that has pre-recorded material which uncovers a nightmarish conspiracy. __________________________________________________ What an absolute pleasure speaking to Gina (not to get her mixed up with Gina Phillips from Jeepers Creepers)… Although Gina has a brief role in “V/H/S/94”, it's an important role; being a news anchor is not an easy job. Especially when you're covering a story that's invigorating as the “Ratman” in the sewers. What did we talk about? Her role in the movie of course! She spoke of how she started her career as an actress in Toronto and how she heard of the role of “Camille' – to be a part of the V/H/S Franchise is something to be very proud of. Ever since this movie was released, the bar for found footage has been raised and the rest of the movies that come after get better. We also spoke how this movie really grabbed the essence of the 1990s with the costumes and the makeup (and the crazy hair style that Gina has). The 90s was a good era for coming out horror; Disturbing Behavior, Sleepwalkers, Stir of Echoes, House on Haunted Hill, In the Mouth of Madness – the list goes on and on. She also expressed her gratitude for working alongside Pedro Pascal in “The Last of Us” for a short time and she also said that he cool as the public says. How awesome is that? To act in a series with Pedro? Pretty damn amazing in my opinion.

Michael Alcee, PhD, is a clinical psychologist in Tarrytown, NY, and is a Mental Health Educator at the Manhattan School of Music. In his first book,Therapeutic Improvisation: How to Stop Winging It and Own It as a Therapist, Michael demonstrated how all clinicians are artists, reading the changes like well-versed jazz musicians, finding the poetic turns in their client's stories like skilled writers, and reveling in the creative act that emerges in the humanistic encounter of psychotherapy. In his forthcoming book, The Upside of OCD, Michael takes on the field's tilted view of OCD as merely a biological and behavioral condition. Instead, he claims that OCD is a misunderstood existential and empathic sensitivity that has served the life and work of notable OCD sufferers like climate activist Greta Thundberg, author John Green, record producer Jack Antonoff, biologist Charles Darwin, and innovator Nikola Tesla. Carrying on the relational work implied in Freud's case of the Ratman, Michael believes that OCD arises as an intriguing interplay of nature and nurture, one that can only be fully healed through an integrative approach that embraces meaning and feeling in equal measure alongside thoughts and behavior. Michael has been a TEDx speaker and organizer and is a regular contributor at Psychology Today along with contributions to NPR, The Chicago Tribune, and The New York Times, among others. We are back for a Weird AF Wonders Episode of Rat People Proportions. That's right.. we review two movies that may just blow your mind. First we talk about RATBOY (1986) where a young teenage Rat "BOY" is found and exploited by a woman and her two brothers to become FAMOUS. However the story behind the movie may just be the more interesting story. So you will NOT want to miss the Spoiler Section on this one. It has some pretty wild trivia that Christina gets heated about involving Clint Eastwood? Yep. Then we discuss RAT MAN (1988) about a genetically engineered or rather human sperm induced rat baby starts shredding models on a jungle island. Tsutomu Miyazaki is one of the most heinous serial killers in Japanese history. Miyazaki had a terrible childhood filled with neglect and bullying which caused him to retreat into his own fantasy world. But, Miyazaki's fantasy world consisted of the darkest of dark material. He killed four innocent children as he acted out his depraved fantasies of blood lust, cannibalism, and necrophilia.Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss an absolutely terrible human being in Tsutomu Miyazaki. His is a case that brings up the questions of nature vs. nurture and what causes an individual to commit these types of acts. Miyazaki claims that his alter ego, Rat Man, was at fault and that he had to obey his commands. Can you really trust the words of a man like Tsutomu Miyazaki whose line between fantasy and reality was so blurred? You can help support the show at patreon.com/truecrimeallthetimeVisit the show's website at truecrimeallthetime.com for contact, merchandise, and donation informationAn Emash Digital productionSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Numerous childhood traumas led Tsutomu Miyazaki to create a monstrous character in his head named "Rat Man" that eventually took control of his thoughts and actions. "Rat Man" required human sacrifices and his preference was little girls. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
