June's RLC Book Club with Chuck Mingo and Troy Jackson to learn about their book, "Living Undivided: Loving Courageously for Racial Healing and Justice." About the Book: As the church and as a country, we've often neglected and avoided addressing the impact and ongoing reality of racism. We've been more focused on order than justice, more concerned with social media posturing than solidarity, more committed to judgment than repentance. But God's people are called to more. We need to lead the way to true racial healing, solidarity, and justice. Through enlightening history and eye-opening personal stories, Living Undivided will equip and empower you with the biblical, transformative tools you need to move from just hoping and wishing for racial justice to actionable change that makes a difference in your life and the lives of churches, neighborhoods, and cities. About the Authors - CHUCK MINGO: Chuck is the Founder and CEO of UNDIVIDED, a nonprofit organization built to unite and ignite people for racial justice through programming that takes participants through life-changing moments of racial healing. Through his passion for justice and racial reconciliation, Chuck has transformed a congregational training into a national movement with hub cities emerging throughout the country. Chuck's leadership through UNDIVIDED has inspired and mobilized thousands from diverse backgrounds around the nation. In addition to leading UNDIVIDED, Chuck teaches and consults for churches and organizations around the country on a variety of topics related to race relations and racial justice. For nearly two decades, Chuck has served as a teaching pastor at one of the largest churches in America, Crossroads Church. Prior to being a pastor, Chuck spent nine years in the corporate world at Procter & Gamble. He earned his Bachelors in Business Administration at Duquesne University. Chuck is married with three children and calls Cincinnati, Ohio home. About the Authors - TROY JACKSON: Troy Jackson is a co-founder of UNDIVIDED and the Chief Strategies Officer. Former senior pastor of University Christian Church in Cincinnati, he loves moving people into action to advance racial justice and has spent the last decade doing faith-based community organizing. He has an M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in United States History from the University of Kentucky. After raising three children,Troy and his wife Amanda moved to their dream home–a cabin in the woods outside Cincinnati, Ohio. Disciple Up #300 God In Drag – Drag Is Holy? By Louie Marsh, 3-29-2023   Link to article below: https://hotair.com/david-strom/2023/03/21/oh-my-god-n538175   Oh. My. God. DAVID STROM 12:31 PM on March 21, 2023    I am not a theologian, nor do I play one on TV.   I didn't even stay in a Holiday Inn Express.   Still, as a convert to Catholicism, I was catechized as an adult, and have a passing familiarity with Christian theology. I also, I hope, am not a complete idiot, and it takes a complete idiot to take the new theology being pushed by the Left seriously.   Two different videos I ran across inspired me to write this piece. The first was a video of a progressive preacher explaining why drag performances are holy. Not just acceptable. Not even a wonderful expression of the diversity of human experience.   Holy.   ‘Drag is holy'? Get help buddy. pic.twitter.com/l8tmlOfAsE   —

Mandy Smith, Lead Pastor of University Christian Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, has written a wonderful book titled, The Vulnerable Pastor: How Human Limitations Empower Our Ministry, in which she shares about the ways our humanity and our weakness are actually a source of strength in our ministries. Too often, we think we have to fit a particular ministry stereotype in order to experience success in our ministries. Mandy exposes that stereotype for what it is, and gives us permission to be who we are so that God can work through our true selves—not the false selves we want the world to see. THIS EPISODE’S HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:Mandy Smith is the Lead Pastor of University Christian Church in Cincinnati and the author of The Vulnerable Pastor: How Human Limitations Empower Our Ministry.Mandy shares the story of her call to ministry.Mandy felt like she needed to include a lot of her story in her book because the idea of a vulnerable pastor had to be embodied in a real person. The way Mandy uses the word “vulnerability” is not limited to the way Brene Brown uses it. For Mandy, vulnerability is about the experience of being human.Mandy shares about the way she experienced weakness early in her ministry. In the midst of that, she heard God say, “In your weakness, I am strong.”Mandy and Markus reflect on Enneagram types that may have a harder time with vulnerability. We can help people in our ministries live out healthy vulnerability by modeling it for them.Mandy Smith writes for both Missio Alliance and Christianity Today.RELEVANT RESOURCES AND LINKSMandy Smith: Twitter: @uccmandyUniversity Christian Church: Website: http://www.universitychristianchurch.net/Books mentioned: The Vulnerable Pastor by Mandy SmithA Little Manual for Knowing by Esther Lightcap MeekTo leave a review of Spiritual Life and Leadership: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/spiritual-life-and-leadership/id1435252632— Links to Amazon are affiliate links. She joins Brian and Ian on air to offer up words of wisdom on how to approach those who are grieving at Rachel's passing. Mandy also comments on Rachel's impact in the faith community, dealing with trolls/attackers and speaking peacefully as a servant of God. (32:15-41:56) Scripture calls for people to care for the least of these. And that is what Central Church of the Nazarene is actively doing. By building homes for the homeless on their church campus, they are answering that call. Ian and Brian take a look at this church's work in being the hands and feet of Jesus and love on their neighbors. (41:56-52:34) Brian and Ian discuss teaching our kids to show kindness. Mandy also comments on Rachel's impact in the faith community, dealing with trolls/attackers and speaking peacefully as a servant of God. (21:37-32:03) When it seems as though God is silent in the wake of tragedy and loss, how do we wrestle with this apparent uncaring response from the Lord? Brian and Ian take time to look into how even through vast amounts of pain, God is with us and working within us for a greater good. (32:03-41:54) One of the great things about being a pastor is sharing with fellow believers one's thoughts on different topics related to the faith. Brian and Ian spend time discussing what they each preached on Sunday and how it can tie into the daily life of fellow Christians and into the topics on the day's show. (41:54-52:14) Over the weekend, pastor and author Warren Wiersbe went home with the Lord. His works touched people across all walks of life.
