Michael Jr. is a world class comedian who is not out to just get laughs. He is out to “give people the opportunity to laugh” and help set the stage for meaningful, purposeful content of the heart and soul. His personal mission is to “comedically inspire people to walk in their purpose.” He is accomplishing this in massive numbers while on stage with The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel, Comedy Central, Oprah's Super Soul Sunday and Tedx Talks. He's featured in the movie, “Selfie Dad.” So I connected with Michael Jr while he was on set somewhere and we had our conversation via phone, which I never do. So while the audio is clear, it's via phone. I was also with renowned businessman and author, Mark Timm, who actually introduced me to Michael Jr.. In this conversation you will hear how Michael views that all of us, in living our lives, are preparing and setting the stage. For what? For the punchline of our lives. The deliverable. Without that, it is simply a life of always preparing but never coming to the table with an offering. So listen in to this interview and we believe you will be significantly inspired and empowered to do just that - Deliver. Studies have shown that babies can recognize a mother's voice from the womb. Michael's video shows the great power in a father's voice as well. After his baby, Portland, was delivered, Michael greeted his wailing child with a calm voice. His soothing tones and words of comfort stopped her cries as she listened. While the nurse attended to Portland's needs, Michael quieted down and she started to cry again. When Michael told her “I love you,” she stopped crying and immediately opened her eyes as if she understood what those words meant In reviewing the video, Michael Jr. couldn't help but be reminded of our relationship with God. He said people will have times when life is heavy and overwhelming, but they can find comfort in knowing they have a father that loves them. “The key thing to do in those moments is be still and listen for the Father's voice, because he is trying to talk to you … What he wants you to know is that he loves you. All you've got to do is open your eyes.” Kristina Tieken Our Podcast, Blog and YouTube Links https://linktr.ee/rttbros Be sure to Like, Share, Follow and subscribe it helps get the word out. On this episode allow me dare you to start the transition from who you are now to who you would like to become and to pay the price of becoming that person.Becoming the person, we see in that picture comes at a costGrowth in our lives begins to happen when you and I make thedecision to do what it takes to become the person that we see in that picture. So let me share with you the price of growth….•Courage:Once we make that decision to grow it means we are making the decision to swim against the tide and choosing not to take the path of least resistance. That is what Daring to grow is. It means you have chosen to go against normalcy and the fear of failing, the fear of being rejected for doing the right thing, the fear of looking like a fool. It means you have chosen to be daring and be uncomfortable. When you and I make a move in a new direction of growth, it is normal to want to have all the answers to your questions before you make the move. It`s natural to want to have everything to be in place and know what to expect before a move is made. Unfortunately, when it comes to growth, the luxury of being sure of what to expect is not always there. This uncertainty and lack of clarity naturally causes fear, discomfort, and anxiety and that is why growth requires courage. Courage to stand out and look like you don't know what you are doing, courage to go against culture and traditions of the community in which you live, courage to get rid of certain people from your life that are getting in the way of your growth, courage to know that you might fail, and it is still okay.•IntentionalityIntentionality helps us focus on How, What and Why With intentionality we ask ourselves, how knowing exactly how we are going to grow or change? How are we going to measure that growth or change?Famous quote from Peter Ducker; “if you cannot measure it, you can't improve it”What do we need to change or grow into? Why we are changing or why we are pursuing the growth we are aiming at. It is always encouraging to know why. Knowing why paints the final picture and inspires us to use our time on what matters and what gets us to our goal. Or the ideal picture of what we want to become.Comedian Michael Jr, illustrated the power of knowing why in this short audio clip, take a listen… Intentionality requires us to have a plan of how we are spending our time daily and why we are spending it that way. Without intentionality what is automatic is rarely what's most productive. Why? Cause we easily drift toward what convenient, unhealthy, and easy. Intentionality helps us put in place a system that helps us drift toward what is productive and toward what helps us change or grow. Excellence or growth or the change we are aiming at is NEVER an accident, it's always a result of intentional, consistent habits.•Manage emotionsAs we grow, we will encounter a lot of situations that will play on our minds and emotions to make us want to quit and default to what is comfortable. We will encounter the need for effort and hard work as a requirement to grow into the person we would like to become. Instead of looking at effort as something negative, look at it as something useful and important for us that leads to growth. When we encounter challenges instead of backing down and avoiding the challenge, embrace the challenge, persevere, and work through it. Its working through these challenges that develops the character that sustains us through growth.Mistakes are also part of the growth process, we should not let them discourage us, instead we learn from them and grow.Feedback should also not be looked at as something personal, instead learn from the feedback, look at it as constructive criticism, learn what needs to change and use it to propel you further on your Growth Journey.I trust this content has inspired you and If it has please let me know about it. Again, it's Kiima Podcast on Instagram and Twitter. Lets hang out there.Until next time God Bless you and remember to Dare to Grow!!

There is no better feeling than the moment you discover you are a part of something bigger than yourself—when you know God is there with a plan for you, and you realize that you have been soaked in His grace since the beginning of time. Comedian Michael Jr. had that moment after using his last few dollars to get to New Jersey to perform a show with iconic comedians George Wallace and Jerry Seinfeld. After performing, the manager invited Michael to church with him. Dejected about being completely broke and unable to get back to New York, Michael was gifted $200 and a napkin with a church address on it. That was a turning point, pushing Michael to read the Bible and use his gift of creating laughter to help spread the gospel. NFL player Jordan Matthews was trying desperately to navigate a performance-based world, but he was getting caught up in the highs and lows. Longing for consistency, Jordan looked to other guys in the NFL who had built a foundation of faith that allowed them to be okay no matter their circumstances. That’s when Jordan found Jesus, and began to walk in true relationship with Christ.    Links, Products, and Resources Mentioned: Jesus Calling Podcast Jesus Calling Ephesians 2:8-9 Jesus Calling®: The Story of Easter Sarah Young Past interview: Trevor Brazile Upcoming interview: Mica Paris   Michael Jr. Jerry Seinfeld George Wallace Chris Rock Seinfeld A Red Blueprint michaeljr.com   Jordan Matthews Trey Burton  Chris Maragos Nick Foles Galatians 5 Psalm 34:4-6 Psalm 105:4 2 Corinthians 1:3-4    Interview Quotes: “All these people I never even knew before gave me all this love because I gave them a part of me.” - Michael Jr. “It's just super exciting to be able to see this and notice and feel it—that heaven is real, that God gave me this gift not to serve me, not so I can do a bunch of shows and get a bunch of people and just laugh. It's so much more to do than just laughter. Comedy is the vehicle. If you don't meet this criteria, you're out, you're done.” - Jordan Matthews “I realized that those pages in the Word, they weren't just words on a page. Those things meant something.” - Jordan Matthews “And I was like, ‘Look, Lord, I know I haven’t been doing this thing right. I know that I'm probably still going to mess up at times, but I know this whole thing is about You. And I can't save myself, so it's up to You to do it, and I feel that happening right now.’” - Jordan Matthews “I know that I have a foundation that I can stand on and a relationship that can't be taken away, no matter my performance. And that's something that's very freeing.” - Jordan Matthews “I just felt like the gospel was able to give me perspective. I don't serve a God who sat on a throne and didn't know what suffering was. Perry and Shawna Mornings

Today on Perry and Shawna Mornings what it looks like to love in some real life scenarios.  So first, you and I are called to love everybody always, except in traffic J.  No, through the power that the Holy Spirit we can learn to love, even in traffic.  We just need to learn the art of looking for the non-negative!  Grand Rapids native and Comedian Michael Jr. helps us with this one.   Then a conversation about Shawna’s paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 13:  I could author books, be the keynote speaker in any country and speak to each audience fluently in their own language. If I could speak the language of the angels themselves but didn’t do any of it in love, the sound of my voice would be empty and annoying.  If I had the gift of discernment that allowed me to unfold even the most difficult scriptures and even foretell the future...If I knew everything there is to know about God and had the faith to speak to the created and it would obey me, but I never learned to love my coworker, I am nothing!  If I emptied my bank account by giving all I own to those in need and even sacrificed my own body for the sake of Christ but am not motivated by love itself, I would gain nothing of value.

It just so happens one of the things I love communicating the most is the truth of what God’s done for us, through Jesus Christ.” Michael Jr. has always been funny—but he didn’t always use that gift for God’s glory until he came to faith at age 27. (00:00-09:13) SAT tests will feature adversity scores, in addition to the traditional scoring. Brian and Ian discuss whether or not this cancels out the standard of testing. Who determines the score that factors adversity? What are the conditions that are applied to adversity scoring? (09:13-20:32) Mandy Smith, pastor of University Christian Church, is someone who has an understanding of the grief people are feeling with losing Rachel Held Evans. She joins Brian and Ian on air to offer up words of wisdom on how to approach those who are grieving at Rachel's passing. Mandy also comments on Rachel's impact in the faith community, dealing with trolls/attackers and speaking peacefully as a servant of God. (20:32-32:15) Pamela and Anne Kennedy are a mother/daughter duo who have written a wonderful series of kids books. The first 3 in the series come out next Tuesday and are geared to help instill confidence, honesty etc. in youth. With Brian and Ian they cover what parents want to teach their kids values wise and also raising kids in the faith and Jesus's teachings. (32:15-41:56) Scripture calls for people to care for the least of these. And that is what Central Church of the Nazarene is actively doing. By building homes for the homeless on their church campus, they are answering that call. Ian and Brian take a look at this church's work in being the hands and feet of Jesus and love on their neighbors. (41:56-52:34) Brian and Ian discuss teaching our kids to show kindness. Kindness and respect are both taught at home, and it is important to raise kids to have good character, rather than focusing on achievements and such. (52:34-1:06:50) Comedian Michael Jr. is a man who loves the Lord as much as telling jokes. He joins Brian and Ian on air to discuss his upcoming show in the Chicago area at Willow Creek Community Church. They also dig into what it means to be a Christian comedian and spreading the Gospel while making people laugh. (1:06:50-1:17:09) Gen Z is being called "the post-truth" generation. Author Sean McDowell comes on the show to discuss his upcoming book 'So The Next Generation Will Know'. With Brian and Ian, they examine what are factors that are causing Gen Z to leave the Church, and more importantly, how they can be reached and shown the power of Christ. (1:17:09-1:23:42) German man driving a stolen Ferrari and gets stuck in traffic while eating Burger King. Woman mistaken this man with their Uber driver and a brewery ends up getting their stolen vehicle back just in time to spoil Game of Thrones.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

(0:00-7:01) Oftentimes a passion for Scripture can muddy a person's theological precision. Brian and Ian take a look at how this can be applied directly into the lives of pastors and faith leaders. They then examine what having knowledge about a topic can mean when sharing news articles and stories online, whether between friends and family or in the public forum. (7:01-21:17) Comedian Michael Jr. is a man who loves the Lord as much as telling jokes. He joins Brian and Ian on air to discuss his upcoming show in the Chicago area at Willow Creek Community Church. They also dig into what it means to be a Christian comedian and spreading the Gospel while making people laugh. (21:17-39:21) Avengers: Endgame may not open until Friday but it is already making waves everywhere. Reverend Justice Carmon returns to engage in a spirited conversation on the intersection of Christianity and comic books. Brian and Ian dialogue with him about reaching the heart that God has made for people through telling stories and finding the beauty of God in the most unlikely places. (39:21-49:41) Pastor John Gray is under fire for spending money on expensive things. As pastors, Brian and Ian take a look at whether or not it is wrong for a pastor to live in excess. They examine the situation, Scriptures that tie into it and whether or not pastors with wealth should live minimally or embrace 'the good life'. (49:41-1:00) Several schools in the world are getting rid of IPad's for students and returning to traditional textbooks for teaching. Which begs the question, are screens truly a problem for the youth of today? Brian and Ian look at studies that show the printed page is far more beneficial. They also branch out into how using screens has in fact taken away from their work as pastors, while using a physical Bible aids them. (1:00-1:10) When infants and toddlers cry and have tantrums, instead of stopping the crying, parents should help them walk through the emotions. Brian and Ian tackle how these outbursts are a benefit for young children and help them as their brains and bodies develop for future adulthood. Michael Jr. got his start as a comedian when George Wallace took him to the legendary Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa Beach. The club’s owner slipped the unknown comic onstage to perform; and a week later, Michael Jr. was performing at the “Just for Laughs” comedy festival in Montreal. Here @adam_bush chats with Michael Jr. about "giving" laughs and why a joke is A + B + 3. [ About Pete and Penelope Podcast] This is a podcast for storytellers. Each episode @adam_bush interviews a storyteller in the industries of television, film or literature. Why is it called The Pete and Penelope Podcast? A couple of years ago, Adam and his pal Stephen began creating a television show for preschoolers called Pete and Penelope. To coincide with the creation of the show, they started a blog to let other people passionate about storytelling enjoy the journey with them. The Pete and Penelope Podcast is just another way for Adam and Stephen to give back to those who have been such a support. [ About Pete and Penelope ] Pete and Penelope is an educational, puppet, television series for preschoolers starring our two favorite siblings with a taste for adventure and a wonderful imagination. These crazy kids spend their days in the ultimate treehouse, complete with rope swings, secret passage ways, trap doors and so much more. To add to the fun, every time they step inside, the treehouse comes alive with a host of unlikely, wonderful characters. While there are great educational shows that focus on kids' IQ, this series focuses on their EQ, or emotional quotient, helping kids develop their emotions and social skills. Pete and Penelope is currently being prepared to pitch to networks and producers. Visit PeteAndPenelope.tv to stay up to date, or visit Facebook, Instagram & Twitter @PeteAndPenelope.

Comedian Michael Jr went from living in his car to one of the most influential and talented comedians in the country. In fact, he used to open the show for Jerry Seinfeld and went on to headline his own shows. He is now sharing the stage with his wife, Ebony, as they focus on strengthening marriages across the country. This engaging couple shares many great pieces of wisdom and insight during our episode, but I really enjoyed how they speak about conflict. It's so easy to avoid conflict at all costs. They encourage us to utilize conflict for the greatness of marriage My favorite part (or least favorite) was when Michael Jr. asked me to share honestly about a recent disagreement I had with Ron. He went through the list of the fruit of the Spirit to see how I was handling a specific situation. And I bombed his test. It was embarrassing, but really challenged me on how I handle conflict.
