Season 3, Episode 8. AJ chats with David Bieber. There is a great line in a classic George Carlin skit, where he says “… all you need in life, is a little place for your stuff….” But what if your "little place" needs to be a warehouse? After a 50 year career within the radio business, including time at both WBCN and WFNX. David Bieber collected a lot of stuff. Out of necessity came The David Bieber Archves. An indescribable location. Think of your favorite used book / magazine / record shop, combined with a pop culture museum, art gallery, advertising / political archives, walls of master reel to reel FM live recordings, vintage music instruments and recording relics. There are boxes lined up floor to ceiling, labeled with a bands' name with their history inside. You know …. heaven. You can also see a lot of the archives on display at various locations around the city. From his days at BU in the early 70's to today, like the archives there is a lot of stuff to talk about. You will enjoy this one.

Kurt St. Thomas is known for his pioneering work at Boston's WFNX radio station, where he made history by being the first to play Nirvana's "Nevermind" on the air. pWotD Episode 2508: Steak and Blowjob Day Welcome to popular Wiki of the Day where we read the summary of a popular Wikipedia page every day. With 185,248 views on Thursday, 14 March 2024 our article of the day is Steak and Blowjob Day.Steak and Blowjob Day (sometimes Steak & BJ Day or Steak and Knobber Day) is a satirical unofficial holiday created in the United States as a male response to Valentine's Day and celebrated a month later, on March 14. On the day, women are purportedly supposed to cook a filet steak for and perform fellatio on a man in response to cards, chocolate, flowers and other gifts given by men on Valentine's Day. The observance has no official status, being a popular Internet meme rather than an actual holiday, but various souvenirs and video clips have been produced about it. It was conceived in 2002 by DJ Tom Birdsey on WFNX radio. It has been suggested that Steak and Blowjob Day is a backlash against the feminist movement; the holiday has been criticized as sexist and patriarchal, though it has also been positively received by some, and used as a platform to fundraise for breast cancer research. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 02:47 UTC on Friday, 15 March 2024.For the full current version of the article, see Steak and Blowjob Day on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm Joey Standard.

The guys are still working out the kinks a few weeks into the show. This one kicked off late thanks to a phone call Jaxon received from his son Kai's school regarding an "incident." That morphed into Kai attempting to explain what happened, along with a conversation about how much that world has changed since back when Jax & Pharmy were kids. How radio has similarly "devolved" is what followed. Concerts, venues, their FNX days. Competitors. A viral/Portnoy "One Bite Pizza" review was discussed. Philly cheesesteak protocol. Cholesterol med "superpowers." Reports of another COVID surge and how everything these days has become a political football. Their own experiences with COVID. "Radio listener expectations." The diarrhea plane. Nightmare flight experiences. How much fun the new show has been and the amount of insane time spent listening by their audience.

Max Tolkoff has an opinion or two on the state of Alternative radio. This is the man responsible for The Edge format which eventually wound up on over 30 Alternative radio stations by the mid 90's. Max tells tales on how his love of skiing, biking, and bad gambling decisions led to his career in the 80's as the Program Director for 91X in San Diego, followed by stints at WFNX in Boston, and Indie 103.1 in Los Angeles.
