Can the team fix its weaknesses in the final months? Today, we'll focus on the things Franklin said about redshirts, facilities and Hakeem BeamonOn how the team handles redshirts in the final three games:"The way we look at the green/yellow/red. Green, you're trying to burn. Yellow, you're trying to hold the redshirt if you can. And red is a guy that's most likely going to redshirt. And all those things can changed based on injury.What I'm saying is we manage this that we now should be at this stage, a lot of these guys be able to play and still be able to keep their redshirt."Penn State Facilities Well, what I will say is, number one, I'm appreciative of all the work that's gone in over our 11 years. One of the things I'd like to show you guys at some point is we've taken before-and-after pictures of everything, and I think back all the way to standing on that turf practice field and my back was up against the fence and you guys were asking me questions -- a lot of the same people in the room were asking me questions about facilities. And that was a battle when I first got here.Beamon"He's no longer a part of the program. I love Hakeem. Love his mom. Subscribing is free! Lions get a big win on a big stage Penn State took out it's loss to Ohio State on Washington, racing out to a 28-0 lead in the first half of the White Out. Quarterback Drew Allar was 14-18 for 140 yards, including 56 yards to wide receiver Trey Wallance. Tight end Tyler Warren wasn't invisible at the goal line this time; the 260-pound tight end went vertical from the three-yard line to score a touchdown and added another second in the first half. The scoring slowed down in the second half, with a fumble from Warren on a promising drive to start the third quarter. That led to a field goal from Washington, who benched starter Will Rogers at halftime in favor of the more mobile backup Demond Williams Jr. While Williams Jr. did give the Huskies more breathing room in the run game, he was sacked multiple times in the second half, leading to only six points before Penn State ended the game with a scoring drive in the fourth quarter.  Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter was the player of the night on defense, finally getting his breakout game. He had four tackles for loss and two sacks, plus a forced fumble. Next up for Penn State and postgame coveragePenn State is now 8-1 on the season after the win, with a road trip to West Lafayette to face Purdue next weekend. Ohio State blew out the Boilermakers on Saturday afternoon, with Purdue falling 45-0 to fall to 1-8 on the season. The Nittany Lions will be the favorite in all of its final three games of the regular season. "They're a no-huddle offense that really -- they can run tempo, but they're more kind of the illusion of tempo so they can see how you line up and then get to the plays they want to run. They base mainly out of 11 personnel. They want to throw the ball. I think that's where they feel like they have the best chance to be successful." Starting quarterback Drew Allar tossed four touchdowns in the win as the Nittany Lions snuffed out the Iowa offense. Allar completed 68% of his passes as the Nittany Lions kept things short and controlled. The Penn State running attack wore down another opponent with 46 carries before the backups came in the game. Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton combined for 38 carries and 121 yards in the competitive portion of the game. Penn State head coach James Franklin called his shot earlier in the week about how the game would play out. "I also think in the Big Ten you look at statistically, we play good defense around here. There's going to be games where we've got to grind it out. You guys know Iowa. This is probably going to be another one of those games where we're going to have to grind it out. It's going to be a four-quarter game," Franklin said on Tuesday. The problem for Iowa, was that Penn State was the only team dong the grinding. The Nittany Lions had four drives of ten-plus plays and another drive of eight plays, all resulting in points. The offense was unrelenting, going 4-4 on fourth down. Penn State defense snuffs out another opponent Once again, the Penn State defense set the offense up for success by smothering the Iowa offense. After an opening drive of six plays for 24 yards, Iowa didn't register another first down before Iowa put in their backups in the fourth quarter. The Penn State defense five straight three-and-outs with two fumble recoveries bracketing that performance. Curtis Jacobs, Adisa Isaac and Chop Robinson all forced a tackle for a loss during the game, with Robinson registering his first sack of the season and Isaac putting up his second. Enjoying the win? Penn State football came out after a crushing defeat to Michigan in a big way. They dominated Minnesota in a blowout win during the 2022 White Out Game. Minnesota scored a quick touchdown before the half and then got the ball to start the third quarter.  Unfortunately for the gophers, that was as close as it would get. Penn State scored 21 points in the third quarter and raced out to a 38-10 lead to start the final frame.  The offensive resurgence was led by quarterback Sean Clifford, who played the game of his life in front of 107 thousand fans. The senior quarterback rallied from an ugly interception in the first quarter to throw for 295 yards and four touchdowns, completing 74% of his passes.  Offensive coordinator Mike Yurich finally cracked the code for using tight ends. As a result, the offense went to the position early and often. Theo Johnson and Tyler Warren caught 25-plus-yard touchdown passes and were a nightmare all night in the middle of the field.  Penn State avenges its first loss of the season in a big way.
