In this follow-up to last week's conversation, Tyson asks a different but equally powerful question: If a law firm wants to dominate in 2030, what marketing should they STOP focusing on right now? Tyson shares a candid voice memo response from Ryan Weber (yes, not Jeremy!), a sharp marketing mind in the legal space. Ryan's answer flips the script on traditional marketing advice, with a focus on building powerful boutique brands, moving beyond Google-centric strategies, and positioning law firms like media companies. The New York Yankees made some cuts. It's officially the offseason for everyone, and the Yankees made some moves right away, putting six players on outright waivers. Pitchers Domingo German, Ryan Weber, Jimmy Cordero, and Matt Bowman, and outfielders Franchy Cordero and Billy McKinney. If they clear waivers unclaimed, they all have enough service time to become free agents. Stacey and Steve discuss these moves. Were any of them surprising? And does this actually mean anything in terms of what the Yankees are looking to do this offseason? Plus, it's Fanmail Friday, and Stacey and Steve are answering your questions about hands-on owners, Hall Of Fame hitting coaches, the balanced schedule, and the recently finished playoffs. Then, Carlos Mendoza, the Yankees' bench coach, has interviewed with the Mets and Guardians this offseason. What happens if he goes? Stacey and Steve talk about all the coaches and what it would mean if Mendoza left the organization he's been with since 2009. For the first time, perhaps ever (only slightly exaggerating), a West Coast trip for the Yankees was not miserable. Sure, they've had winning trips near the Pacific before, but between the pitch clock letting games that started late end at a reasonable-ish time, and taking two out of three at Chavez Ravine against the Dodgers, it was a mostly great week! Still, it wasn't all LA sunshine for the Yankees this week as they also dealt with some Seattle rain in the form of injuries. The absolute revolving door of injuries continued in a very hectic way this week. As discussed on this week's podcast episode, the Yankees welcomed back Giancarlo Stanton, Josh Donaldson, Tommy Kahnle, and Jose Trevino off of the injured list, but in true soul for a soul fashion, put Harrison Bader, Greg Allen, and Ryan Weber on the shelf, with Nestor Cortes most likely joining them to further deplete the rotation. Aaron Judge also decided to wage war against a fence, and while he did his damage, we wait await the results of his testing to see if the fence ultimately gets the last laugh. And as always, Andrew and Kunj do their weekly check-in of Baseball Reference's WAR leaderboard before handing out their Yankee and Manfred of the Week (spoiler: that fence will not be pleased with the latest addition to its trophy shelf). Hour 1: The Mets and Yankees both won yesterday and won their series against the Rays and Jays. Both Aaron Judge and Pete Alonso continue to hit HRs for their teams in big spots. Gio wants Steve Cohen to pay Pete Alonso whatever he wants and he wants him paid now. He's a homegrown guy and not an over the hill player they brought in. Gio said the Mets are taking him for granted. Gio is sick of the ‘overpaid slugs' in sports. Jerry is here for his first update and starts in Toronto where the Yankees won again. Aaron Hicks even had a key RBI single. Judge talked about getting good pitches to hit. Nestor Cortes got the win and talked about taking 3-of-4 from the Blue Jays. The Mets beat the Rays and Pete Alonso homered again and Buck Showalter talked about that. He also talked about why Mark Vientos didn't play. Gary Sanchez is coming up tonight for the Mets and Gio is very annoyed by that. The Nuggets beat the Lakers to take a 2-0 series lead. There were 4 overtimes in last night's game between the Panthers and the Hurricanes. The Panthers eventually won 3-2. When we talked about Super Bowl 60 being in the Bay Area, Boomer said he'll be ‘removed from football' by then. We are all concerned about our futures. Tyson Fury is angry with Joe Rogan for saying Jon Jones could beat him. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer played golf yesterday for his charity. The day before, Boomer played with Cal Clultterbuck who hit his first hole in one. Someone else hit one yesterday. Boomer has seen 4 holes in ones in his life and 2 of them were the last 2 days. Tom Kim got all muddied up at the PGA Championship yesterday looking for his ball. Hour 2: The Yankees have picked it up, especially Aaron Judge. Hal Steinbrenner talked about last season, saying it's not a failure because of how many games they won. They got swept in the ALCS. Gio said Brian Cashman probably wants to blast through the luxury tax. He also said the Yankees won't ‘eat their problems' anymore like they used to in the past. Boomer said the Yankees have been relevant for all 16 years he has been here. Gio said that's a low bar to have. The Yankees have had a ton of regular season success, but not in the playoffs. Boomer said the Yankees fan base is entitled and used the example of them booing Aaron Judge last season in the playoffs. Boomer said it's hard to be in the playoffs every single year. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Aaron Judge hitting another HR to dead center in Toronto. Judge talked about the great pitching they got yesterday. Ryan Weber talked about being laid back while pitching in tough spots. The Mets beat the Rays again and Pete Alonso hit another HR, his 16th of the year. Shohei Ohtani hit another HR, this time in Baltimore. The Nuggets beat the Lakers to take a 2-0 series lead. The Panthers beat the Hurricanes in 4 overtimes. Tom Kim got all muddy at the PGA Championship. In the final segment of the hour, we took calls from Yankee fans as we continued talking about Hal Steinbrenner seeming happy just to make the playoffs every year. Boomer said the Yankees have been great for a long time. Gio said you could be great and still want more. Hour 3: We continued our discussion about the Yankees and how Hal Steinbrenner seems happy just to win a lot of games and make it into the playoffs, even if they don't advance. We talked about Giancarlo Stanton and his injuries every season. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the Yankees win in Toronto including a HR by Anthony Volpe. Aaron Hicks even had 3 hits last night. Daryl Morey, the President of the Sixers, spoke to the media about their search for a new head coach and whether players will be involved in the process. The Panthers beat the Hurricanes in Carolina after 4 overtimes. In the final segment of the hour, you can smell weed everywhere and now the weed bakeries are being raided because the state is selling their own weed. Hour 4: Gunnar Esiason is going to see Blink 182 at MSG tonight. Boomer hooked him up. Gio wondered how many people Boomer has to hook up with various things. And which people in his life does he always have to help out when asked. They also talked about IVF and going into the ‘spank room'. Jerry returns for his final update of the week and starts with Anthony Volpe hitting a HR in Toronto as the Yankees beat the Blue Jays. Aaron Judge hit another one as well. The Mets beat the Rays and win the series. Buck Showalter talked about Pete Alonso hitting another HR even while he's battling an illness. The Nuggets beat the Lakers again and take a 2-0 series lead and head to L.A. Adam Schein called the Boston Celtics ‘tissue paper soft'. The Panthers beat the Hurricanes, but it took 4 overtimes. In the final segment of the hour, the last time Boomer did a ‘drop by' to Gio's house, his wife Gina went on a crazy cleaning spree. Boomer wonders if Gio gets barnacles on his boat. He does not. Gio wonders if gray in the beard is attractive or does it make you look really old. Gio is doing commercials for Blue Chew now.

The Yankees beat the Blue Jays 4-2 on Thursday with Ryan Weber and Albert Abreu asked to pitch the seventh and eighth innings behind Nestor Cortes. Aaron Boone jokingly called it "Nestor and the Funky Bunch" but there was nothing funny about it.
Jeff Blair and Kevin Barker break down the Blue Jays' 4-2 loss vs. the Yankees at Rogers Centre to wrap the series. They take your calls, and debate the one word they'd use to describe this four-game series vs. the Yankees - frustrating? Revealing? They get to the performance of the offence, which has dried up in the last week, and how they couldn't get a hit against...Ryan Weber? Plus, they discuss Nate Pearson's relief work in which he hit 100 MPH multiple times, and what to expect with the Orioles coming to town. Twin brothers Rob and Ryan Weber famously started their first company, Freeze.com, out of a St. Cloud State dorm room. They had their first exit before graduating, and a decade later, sold tech startup NativeX to mobile ad platform mobVista for $25 million. All told, the Webers have been involved in more than 50 startups. Today, they're focused on funding them through their venture capital firm, Great North Ventures. They are fierce champions of entrepreneurship—particularly in greater Minnesota, and small towns that don't have all the resources. They share advice on being scrappy and determined; not raising too much and not selling too early; and the billion dollar idea they're still searching for. After our conversation, we go Back to the Classroom with the University of St. Thomas Schulze School of Entrepreneurship. Professor Jay Ebben teaches entrepreneurship from the investor side. "We teach students to think like investors," he says. "What stands out most about Rob and Ryan is the authenticity with which they operate. That's under appreciated in the VC world, and it's a big part of their story."

After skipping a week due to Andrew's bout with COVID, the PSA Podcast is back to marvel once more at the ridiculous exploits of the 2022 Yankees. New York snuck a nine-game winning streak in between the most recent recordings, are 17-3 in June, and after taking a pair of road series against division rivals in Toronto and Tampa Bay, the 51-18 Yanks sit neck-and-neck with the legendary 1998 squad at the best starts in modern franchise history. The Blue Jays and Red Sox would both hold Wild Card spots if the season ended today, but the Yankees are still 12 games ahead of both of them in the AL East. It's a ridiculous ballclub, and there's so much to talk about. There's Gerrit Cole flirting with a no-hitter for the second time this month. There's Aaron Judge reaching 27 homers in just 67 games. There's Jose Trevino somehow maintaining a legitimate case to go to the All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium. This team just has remarkable tenacity, and the most recent series at Tropicana Field really displayed it. We love these guys and hope it stays like this all year long. All these topics are discussed, as well as the upcoming series against Houston, Albert Abreu's return, Nestor's mustache, Ryan Weber's cameo, the B-Ref Leaderboard check-in, the Yankee & Manfred of the Week, and — quite randomly — Delaware vs. Maryland and the apparent misery of A's infielder Nick Allen.
