Piše Bojan Sedmak, bere Igro Velše. Teodor Lorenčič je pisec z neobičajno bio- in bibliografijo. Na pragu svojega osmega desetletja iz življenjskih rokavov vleče močne karte za igro, ki jo vztrajno preizkuša po svojih pravilih. Ta zastavlja iz vitalizma v javnih in zasebnih prizadevanjih za svojevrsten individualizem, zaradi katerega nemalokrat prihaja v konflikte z različnimi družbenimi omejitvami. Bodisi kot univerzitetni tajnik, županski kandidat, domiselni vstajnik, strankarski posrednik, diplomiran filozof, obrtnik stolar, kolumnist, karateist … Še največ svobode je imel in ima kot pesnik, a tudi ob vstopanju v poetsko areno pred več kot pol stoletja je bil sankcioniran kot sporen za takratne družbene zapovedi, čeprav so se o njegovem prvencu O stenah in vijolicah (1975) pohvalno izražali člani znamenite mariborske peterice z Dragom Jančarjem na čelu. Šele izdaja vseh njegovih petih pesniških zbirk s skupnim naslovom O ljubezni (2017) v redakciji Boruta Gombača je celostno povzela vrednosti Lorenčičeve poetike. Njegov prozni prvenec, doživeto napisan družinski roman Anonimni (2017) je naletel na polemične odzive zaradi dodanega pamfleta o dogajanju na mariborski univerzi, v katero je bil vpleten kot njen uradnik. Po pregretih medijskih in pravnih kolobocijah ter posledični razrešitvi z delovnega mesta se je preselil v Beograd, kjer se je odločil, da bo pisal v srbskem jeziku in se kot tak razglasil za poslednjega jugoslovanskega pesnika. Najprej je izdal odmevno monografijo Laibach (2022) s svojimi fotografijami in refleksijami kronista na prvi evropski turneji znamenite skupine. Sledile so zbirke novih pesmi, napisane v srbščini ter izdane v knjigi U tišinama ljubavi (2023). V srbskem jeziku je začel pisati in izdajati tudi serijo kriminalk in se že v prvem tovrstnem romanu (2025) preizkusil s prevračanjem zakonitosti žanra, med katerimi je krivec, ki ni razkrinkan v racionalnem koncu, bolj izjema kot pravilo. Roman Margo – prvotno napisan v srbščini in kmalu preveden v angleščino in nato v avtorjevi redakciji tudi v slovenščino – je samosvoj slavospev erotiki in ljubezni. Čeprav je prvoosebni pripovedovalec uvodoma povit v filtre zapiskov, ki jih je fiktivno prejel od nekega priletnega, seksualno aktivnega gospoda, in četudi se ženska v besedilu imenuje včasih Hana, včasih Pupa, včasih Margo, je iz posvetila razvidno, da je protagonistka zdajšnja pisateljeva žena Maraja. V tem smislu tudi Margo potrjuje misel Henryja Millerja in podobnih pisateljev, da so vsi romani v nekem smislu avtobiografije. Silovita erotična in ljubezenska zveza ter poročna zaveza glavnega lika z mnogo mlajšo junakinjo romana je namreč avtorjevo življenjsko dejstvo. Morda je redkost takšnega odnosa odvrnila nekaj založb od objave in najbrž je urednike zbegalo omenjanje Nabokova, ki je v svoji znani klasiki postavil za žrtev pedofilovih obsesij trinajstletnico – povsem brez potrebe, kajti moški lik v romanu Margo, približno okoli svojega sedemdesetega, ima samo dvainštirideset let mlajšo izbranko. Moški v čaščenju izvoljene ženske po navadi skoraj klišejsko govori bolj o sebi kot o osebi svojih projekcij, a tej pasti idealizacije se Teodor Lorenčič spretno izmika. Strani polni s stvarnim, energetsko nabitim posvečanjem partnerki v polnokrvni duhovni in telesni predaji, predstavljeni brez moralističnih in jezikovnih zadržkov. Seveda o dlaki na jeziku obstajajo tudi bolj vulgarne opazke, a opisovanje spolnosti v romanu Margo jim ne podleže; stil ostaja na ravni silovitosti, ki si daje duška z neženirano strastjo, porojeno iz prvobitnih človeških gonov. Od bralcev je odvisno, koliko so dojemljivi za tovrstne elemente dogajanja; po navadi se površni radi zapičijo v kakšen detajl, čeprav je za pravi estetski učinek pomemben celovit kontekst; tako kot je na primer tudi v filmu Zadnji tango v Parizu nasploh dobro vedeti nekaj o maslu, ki ga ima ljubezenski par na glavi, ne zgolj kje drugje. Dogajanje v romanu Margo je seveda drugače posebno kot v Bertoluccijevi uspešnici, zgodba je bolj enostavna v dobrem pomenu besede. Preprosto sporoča, da je starostna razlika med ljubimcema večji problem za kulturo okolja, nikakor pa ne za njuno zadovoljstvo. Romaneskni par na netivo in gorivo vzajemnega oplajanja nanaša mehanizme, s katerimi se običajno kljubuje običajnosti; ona z mladostno energijo, ki se pogumno levi iz vsiljivih predsodkov, on z ostrim umom za razreze splošne hipokrizije. Pripovedovalec si ob tem vzame prostor in čas tudi za prodorne analize prejšnjih, minulih razmerij z ženskami in ženami; od gimnazijske izgube nedolžnosti s starejšo tovarniško delavko prek viharne avanture v pariškem slogu do neusmiljenih psihoanaliz svojih poročenih in ločenih žena. Ti zgoščeni povzetki odnosov dokazujejo veščino pisca za portretiranje žensk različnih starosti, zaznamovanih predvsem z lastnimi seksualnimi in čustvenimi fantazmami. Pisec spremne besede psihiater Miran Pustoslemšek je iz romana izpostavil t. i. Elektrin kompleks, Jungov pendant Freudovemu Ojdipovemu. Oba sta si za analizo družinske patologije pomagala z grško mitologijo; Elektra naj bi bila pretirano navezana na očeta in zato noro zavzeta za skrajno odstranitev lastne matere. Tozadevno Lorenčičev roman vsebuje ne nepomemben paradoks: v grškem mitu sta bolj kot Elektrina ljubezen do umorjenega očeta Agamemnona izpostavljena njena zavist do materinega, torej Klitajmnestrinega uživanja z ljubimcem Egistom ter posledična maščevalnost, ki jo z bratom Orestom uresničita z dvojnim pobojem. V romanu Margo pa prav mladenkina mama tako rekoč edina razume in podpira hčerino odločitev za zvezo z moškim, ki bi ji bil lahko ded, ter ji z njim privošči srečo. V izrazito patriarhalnem okolju to deluje bodrilno in osvobodilno in v tej domeni Hanino-Pupino sorodstvo doživi zaslužen pretres, ko zaljubljena protagonista na neki drugi, kulturno sprejemljivejši poroki škandalozno razglasita nedavno svojo. Poleg osrednje tematike, učinkovito podajane v jedrnatih dialogih, besedilo vsebuje kratke odstavke o dogodkih in idejah iz obče kulture, kakor jih vrednoti izobražen in toleranten ateist. Bralstvo se med izkušenim epikurejstvom lahko mimogrede poduči o zgodovinskih zdrahah Obrenovićev in Karadjordjevićev ali Descartesovih stikih z Elizabeto Češko, o socioloških zablodah permisivne vzgoje ali o sodobnih krajah otrok. Prikazi Hanine-Pupine družine in pripovedovalčevih beograjskih prijateljev, s katerimi se druži ob sotočju Donave in Save, kljub popitemu in pokajenemu delujejo precizno kritično in sveže nabrito. In množica vzporednih motivov ter priložnostnih asociacij je kozmopolitsko pestra – Hana-Pupa na primer modro upošteva babičin tipično srbski nasvet: »… če želiš obdržati moškega, potem se mu ne vtikaj v krčmo in njegovo gostilniško družbo.« Za narodnostni kontrast avtor bolj frivolnim Francozom – še posebej svoji tamkajšnji kratkotrajni snobovski ljubici, imenovani Hudičevka – nameni duhovitost Charlesa de Gaulla o tem, kako težko je vladati naciji, ki prideluje osemsto vrst sirov. »Resnici na ljubo, niso problem samo siri, gre za mentaliteto naroda, ki zgodovinsko gledano ljubi revolucije in giljotino.« Tako imenovano slovensko zavednost Teodorja Lorenčiča pa je mogoče dojeti iz njegovega Beogradskega manifesta, prologa v srbski pesniški opus U tišinama ljubavi, kjer je zapisal (v prevodu): »Marca 2018 sem prenehal pisati pesmi in romane v maternem jeziku. Stihov in besed ne slišim več v slovenščini, ki je izredno bogat in lep jezik in ga nikoli ne bom nehal ljubiti.« Nabokova lolita je prešla v obči pojem kot kokakola; Lorenčičeva Margo najbrž ne bo. Bo pa in je že opazno zaznamovala aktualno romanopisje z neko le na videz bizarno, v bistvu pa zelo stvarno formulo ljubezenske sreče. Ta je načeloma kratka kot življenje, ki teče, a – hvala dobrim realističnim piscem – kdaj pa kdaj kaj dolgotrajnega in lepega reče.
Legenda pripoveduje, da se je hudič nekega dne odpravil po svetu, da bi videl, kako ljudje molijo. Njegov pohod je bil sicer bolj kratek, saj ni našel veliko ljudi, ki bi dolgo vztrajali v molitvi. Precej zadovoljen je bil, ko je odkril tiste molitve, ki so bile le golo ponavljanje obrazcev, saj so bile te zanj najmanj škodljive. Ko se je tako dobre volje vračal nazaj v peklensko bivališče, je v kotičku očesa opazil na polju kmeta, ki je sunkovito mahal z rokami. Radoveden se je skril za grm in opazoval dogajanje. Moški se je na vso moč prepiral z Bogom, mu postavljal vprašanja in ga obtoževal. Tedaj je mimo prišel učenjak in kmetu rekel: »Gospod, kaj vendar počnete? Z Bogom se ne smete prepirati!« Kmet pa mu je odgovoril: »Spoštovani gospod, jaz se z Bogom prepiram zato, ker vanj verujem. Sprašujem ga in prosim, ker vanj zaupam, in ga obtožujem, ker vem, da me posluša.« »Neumnosti govorite,« mu odvrne učenjak in odide naprej. Hudič za grmom pa se z učenjakom ni strinjal. Ves prestrašen je zbežal. Odkril je namreč človeka, ki je znal zares moliti. Otroke pri verouku kateheti običajno učijo najkrajšo definicijo molitve: molitev je pogovor z Bogom. Že stoletja ljudje preučujejo, preizkušajo in razpravljajo o pravem pomenu molitve, odnosom z Bogom in do sveta. Sprašujejo se, ali molitev res kaj spremeni ali ima kakšen smisel? Ali res lahko kako vpliva na Boga, na dogodke v svetu? Kakšna je pravzaprav prava molitev? Pa vendar se v osnovi vračamo nazaj k veroučni definiciji molitve. Je pogovor, takšen ali drugačen stik z Bogom. In vsak pogovor nas spremeni, posebej še, če je pristen, posebej še, če je sogovornik Bog. Pogovor z nekom, s katerim smo lahko pristni, ki nas pozna in sprejema v celoti, nam odkrije marsikaj o sebi, o svetu in o poti naprej. Takšen pogovor je lahko buren, lahko se razjezimo, celo povzdignemo glas, se prepiramo. Bog bo ostal Bog, ne bo se umaknil iz pogovora. Nekdo je dejal, da pomen molitve ni v vplivanju na Boga, ampak v spremenitvi tistega, ki moli. Neki mistik pa pravi, da je lahko že izrek 'hvala ti' kdaj zadostna molitev.
Piše Meta Kušar, bereta Višnja Fičor in Aleksander Golja. Esej je tista sočna in krepčilna literarna zvrst, ki je potrebna tako pisatelju in dramatiku kot tudi pesniku. Nič manj oseben ni kot lirika, samo besede so drugače stkane. Niti, na katere se tke, niso zgodba, ampak misli, ideje, prepričanja, ki se razgalijo in s tem osvojijo bralca. Leta 2014 je Drago Jančar izdal eseje Pisanja in znamenja. V desetih letih je globalizacija pokazala nove trike, vendar prav nič ne moti, da so v knjigi Zakaj pisati tudi esej iz leta 1989 in še nekaj starejših od deset let, saj tako doživljamo tudi lucidnost in kvaliteto našega opazovanja pred desetletjem in več. Vem, da se literarni ustvarjalec pogosteje sprašuje, kakšno vlogo ima literatura, kot pa bralec. Kritiki in založniki imajo spet svoje razloge, grobe do literature in umetnika. Nekateri kritiki bi želeli agitacijo, drugi, da bi umetnik zarjovel kot lev. O vseh različnih zahtevah časa razmišlja Jančar v uvodnem eseju, tudi o informacijski džungli in o nenadomestljivosti evropske kulture, literaturo postavi v njen center, in upa na ljudi, tudi mlade, ki naj bi vse manj brali, da začutijo smisel in bogastvo in neštete velike in filigranske vrednote v knjigi iz papirja, ki daje zgodbo, poezijo in esej. Jančarjevi eseji o pisanju so močna izpoved o stoletnem divjanju v Evropi, v katerem je umrlo milijone ljudi; premnogim je bilo vzeto življenje, ki so ga ljubili, in jim je bilo vsiljeno nekaj neživljenjskega, mrtvega. Povsem razločno je bilo videti, da smo umrli Boga, Hudiča pa smo pustili pri življenju. Še dobro, ker zdaj vsakega človeka posebej sili ugotavljati, koliko zla je sposoben bližjemu storiti. Hudič nam kaže, kaj nas bo učilo sočutja, dejansko prav to, da zagledamo lastno neusmiljenost. Jančar v svojem pisanju stoji ob Brodskem, ki pravi: Estetika je mati etike. Ko gre človek resno skozi Jančarjeve eseje v knjigi Zakaj pisati, ga je sram, da ni bral, kar omenja, da ni slišal za pomembna srečanja pisateljev in za nagrade, ki so bile avtorju podeljene. Precej nonšalantno so mnogi, celo politiki, metali na Evropsko zvezo svoj cinizem, kot prej na samostojno Slovenijo. Nekaj jih je, več kot se nam zdi, ki jih pekli slaba vest, ko čezatlantskega prijateljstva ni več in smo postali zajedavci Amerike. Za vse, ki se o zgodovini Evrope in o Srednji Evropi niso v šoli dovolj naučili, velja, naj berejo Jančarjeve eseje. Poučili se bodo, da je Milan Kundera v The New York Review of Books leta 1984 objavil esej Tragedija Srednje Evrope. Bralci so ga brali z navdušenjem, ker so spoznali njeno kulturno identiteto in odprtost. Osem let pred tem, leta 1976, je Tomaž Šalamun v knjigi Praznik objavil pesem Naša vera: Srednja Evropa! / Grozni sentimentalni kraji, totalna katastrofa! / Z ljudstvi, / natrpanimi v živinske vagone, peljanimi na izlet / v koncentracijska taborišča pod plin, ali podobne / neokusnosti med hlipanjem in krpanjem nogavic!... Takrat je zagrabil drugačen fenomen Srednje Evrope, ki se nam kaže zdaj, leta 2025. Ta fenomen je v Jančarjevih esejih nenehno prisoten. Seveda pa ne pozabi niti na opazovanje Habsburškega mita v moderni avstrijski književnosti iz leta 1963. Pisatelj, ki skozi vso knjigo slavi demokracijo, hkrati pa priznava, da je bil v »kulturnem pomenu« tudi jugonostalgik. A vedno zgrožen nad diktaturo v Jugoslaviji, sicer blažjo kot na Madžarskem in Češkem, a še vedno diktaturo, ki je državo pognala v prepad. Drago Jančar je človek, ki je nenehno hrepenel po politični svobodi in zanjo marsikaj storil, a je spoznal, kot pravi »narodni značaj vseh malih narodov, kjer se ljudje raje ukvarjajo drug z drugim, kakor pa z velikim svetom okoli sebe«. Eseji v knjigi Zakaj pisati veliko povedo o slovenski vodilni družbi, »ki najraje jaha politično demagogijo in nezaceljene rane naroda izrablja za surova obračunavanja«. Vsi se še spomnimo, koliko energije in lucidnega pisanja je Drago Jančar v devetdesetih letih namenil svoji publicistiki, kolumnam v Delu – in nekega dne, brez pojasnila uredništva, ni objavil nobene več. To kar je napisal leta 2021: »Torej sem na robu, opazujem življenje, pišem o njem, naj bo to v zgodovinskem ali današnjem času,« bo veljalo še za sleherne prihodnje eseje. Kdor natančno ne gleda zgodovine, si ni mislil, da bo najnovejši udarec gibanju 'woke', prebujenstvo, prišel prav iz države z močno demokracijo. Puritanstvo v Ameriki je prastaro, od časa do časa se zbudi kot neprecepljena otroška bolezen, in zdaj je udarilo v literaturo. Ne samo v moderno, ampak tudi v klasiko, ki je generacijam dajala smisel in ohranjala lepoto. Jančarjevi eseji nagovarjajo k življenju. Kdo je krivec za vse te norosti, ki so seveda tudi nezaslišane grozote? Oba akterja hladne vojne in vsi mi opazovalci, ki razločno vidimo, kot tudi pisatelj, ki jih je napisal, da je vajeti prevzel diktat ega nad vso raznovrstnostjo nezavednega. Potem sta tu še pragmatizem, ki ga pisatelj prepoznava vsepovsod, in elementarna nehvaležnost brez sočutja, ki para dušo tako ustvarjalcem umetnosti kot občinstvu. In še nekaj nam povedo eseji v knjigi Zakaj pisati: Naše razcapanosti ne more nihče več popraviti, če je ne bo začel popravljati vsak sam. Ali bi si lahko želeli več, kot je razmišljanje pisatelja o preteklih časih v Jugoslaviji, o tranziciji in o težkih rečeh, ki se (spet) dogajajo zdaj.

Hudičeva brv, ki jo je v predlanskih poplavah odnesla podivjana Sora, vnovič povezuje Puštal in mesto Škofja Loka. Nova varna in sodobna brv, ki je zaradi večje pretočnosti Sore tudi tehnično prilagojena, je stala 286 tisoč evrov. Hudičeva, tudi puštalska ali ukrivljena brv ima zgodovinski in simbolni pomen. Hudičevo brv zgodovinski viri prvič omenjajo v prvi polovici 17. stoletja, najstarejši podatki o njeni obnovi segajo v leto 1874. Kustos in arheolog Loškega muzeja Jože Štukl razkriva legendo, povezano z brvjo, njeno zgodovino ter simbolni pomen povezovanja brvi v preteklosti in danes.

V komentarju avtor obeležuje obletnico odkritja vojnega grobišča v Hudi jami, kjer so našli več kot 1.410 žrtev izvensodnih pobojev po drugi svetovni vojni. Raziskave pod vodstvom dr. Jožeta Dežmana so dokumentirale obseg zločinov. Slovenija je leta 2017 grobišče razglasila za kulturni spomenik državnega pomena, Avsenik pa poudarja pomembnost zgodovinskega spomina in dostojnega pokopa žrtev.

This week on The Business of Open Source, I spoke with Vinoth Chandar, the founder and CEO of Onehouse and the creator of Apache Hudi. We took a pretty deep dive into the relationship between Onehouse and Hudi, a topic that for me is at the heart of building a company on top of an open source project. In fact, whether or not Onehouse is an ‘open source company' could be debatable; Hudi is an Apache project — it's not owned by Onehouse in anyway — and Onehouse is not a ‘managed Hudi' or ‘enterprise Hudi.' Onehouse solves a problem that is fundamentally not the same problem that Hudi solves. Here's some other take aways from my conversation with Vinoth: There were both technical and business reasons for the relationship between Onehouse and Hudi; Hudi is a library, and you can't offer a library as a service. Also, Onehouse does way, way more than Hudi.Out of Hudi's 16 project management committee members, 5 are from Onehouse. Which means both that Onehouse has a significant presence, but also that it can't completely control the project. The disadvantage of being in a ‘hot' market, which means there are lots of big players trying to define the narrative around data lakehouses.Starting Onehouse two and a half too late… or was it actually too early? We had a discussion about timing of starting the company, and Vinoth had arguments for why they started the company too late, but also why it might have been too early. Are you giving away too much? The Onehouse board sometimes thinks so; but what Vinoth thinks was a mistake was not spending enough time educating both Hudi users and the larger community about just how much Hudi can do, instead of letting external players define the narrative about what Hudi does.
