The Wisconsin Herd outlasted the Grand Rapids Gold 114-111 in an epic overtime finish on Friday night which moved Wisconsin to 5-8 in the G League Showcase seeding games with the victory. The Herd will look to bounce back after the G League Showcase ends and their record resets for the regular season portion of the schedule. There was a notable fan in the building as Bucks all-time great Giannis Antetokounmpo sat next to the Herd bench and got really invested in the game, not just in his brother Alex Antetokounmpo's performance but taking the time to speak with multiple players throughout the game and share his input, as well as dap up the Plymouth 6th grade boys team after they got to play a quick game during halftime. Ti Windisch of the Gyro Step was in attendance and caught up with Milwaukee Bucks two-way player TyTy Washington Jr., Herd guard Jazian Gortman, and Herd head coach Beno Udrih after the Herd win. Washington Jr. started and seems fine after dealing with an injury last time out, posted 16 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds on 7/13 shooting including 2/4 from deep in the win. Washington Jr. discussed hunting out his own shots vs passing them up, the surprise other players seemed to share about the Elam ending rules for G League overtime, his feel on the season so far, and what it was like to have Giannis in attendance. Jazian Gortman had an exciting run for the Bucks in Summer League and seems to feel great about his growth with the Herd so far. Gortman let the bench in minutes with nearly 21, and while he shot 1/5 he did total 7 assists and 5 rebounds including 2 offensive plus knocked down a three. Ti asked him about his defensive mentality, what it's like to be able to run the second unit as much as he did in his rookie season, his thoughts on his rookie year so far, playing for Giannis, being a sponge and learning from Beno Udrih, and more. The Philadelphia Sixers blew a 24-point lead to the OKC Thunder in their second exhibition game, but once again, who cares about the outcome. Joel Embiid did not play due to a calf injury. I believe Brett Brown when he says it shouldn't be a concern, but I am curious if this can cause problems down the road. Speaking of injury, Glenn Robinson III left with a hip injury and he will be re-evaluated Monday. Ben Simmons was magnificent and clearly the best player on the floor. He was so strong rolling to the basket, he facilitated beautifully, and he was remarkable defensively. Shake Milton is so intriguing. He is able to shoot the ball off the dribble, provide pick and roll play, and also drives to the rack. I am confident his game will correlate to success in postseason play! Josh Richardson showed his versatility and Al Horford was able to knock down some three-pointers early. I do question what is happening to him on the defensive side of the floor though and that will come into play when Embiid is off the floor in playoff games. It's not so much about the outcome of these games, it's more about their mentality and work ethic. It seems they are very focused which is all you can ask for at this point. Check out my sponsor! Philadelphia 76ers forward Glenn Robinson III joins Ky and Cam and discusses life in quarantine for an NBA player and all of the uncertainty surrounding the situation. He also discusses his favorite video games, his favorite movie, and who would he want to go 1-on-1 with right now. All of this along with talks about the Sixers as well as Ky and Cam discussing their favorite rappers.

I never would have expected there to be a "tough" loss in this road trip understanding the injuries, but this was absolutely hard to swallow. The Philadelphia Sixers found a way to lose to a team that had 14 wins prior to this match up. It should not matter that Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Josh Richardson were not available to play. The Golden State Warriors were without Steph Curry and Draymond Green. The box score shows that this wasn't a bad night for players offensively. The defensive intensity was the major problem as the Warriors shot 55% from the field as a team. Tobias Harris struggled early, but had an explosive second half, finishing with 24 points on the night including big buckets late. Al Horford scored 22 points, snagged 10 rebounds, and dished seven assists. Two strong games in a row for Horford. Glenn Robinson III, Alec Burks, Raul Neto, and Shake Milton had moments where they made shots as all four of them finished in double digits. The big issue of the night was Brett Brown. He kept Furkan Korkmaz in the game for way too long as he wasn't providing any offense and was getting destroyed defensively. Late in the game, Brown failed to use a timeout, with two remaining, in a crucial situation. The sequence went like this: Horford missed a three. Harris recorded the rebound and he passed it to Mike Scott who was blocked at the rim. The ball went back out to the perimeter and the offense stalled. Milton was forced to shoot an obnoxiously deep three-pointer that had no shot of going in. Brown NEEDED to utilize one of his timeouts there. For the Sixers' final possession, he drew up a play for Korkmaz who was clearly not a shooting threat in this game, which resulted in him stepping out of bounds prior to getting the ball off. It was an ugly look down the stretch. The Sixers return home on Wednesday to face the Detroit Pistons. Hopefully there is good news on the return of some injured stars.
