So why not look ahead to the second quarter? The guys go over new-release teases for music this week from a bevy of stars, including Wet Leg, Turnstile, and WU LYF (3:24). Then they do the Fantasy Albums Draft for the second quarter, discussing upcoming records from Lana Del Rey, Bon Iver, Billy Woods, Tunde Adebimpe, and more (26:01).In the mailbag, they discuss the newly announced arena tour for Brand New, and whether the emo band has faced appropriate consequences for allegations against singer-songwriter Jesse Lacey (49:42).In Recommendation Corner, Ian talks up "Altered Zones"-core act OHYUNG while Steven stumps for the dreamy neo-grunge band Momma (with extra shouts to Craig Finn and The Waterboys) (1:04:30).New episodes of Indiecast drop every Friday. 10 years ago, Manchester, England collective WU LYF (or World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation) released a record, and enacted in a moment, Go Tell Fire To The Mountain, which kind of came and went. An album much unlike anything before or since, often described as ‘heavy pop', referenced in the tracklist itself. WU LYF created a sonic tour-de-force that is very special, as fleeting as its presence may have been. TRACKS PLAYED: ‘L Y F' ‘Cave Song' ‘Such A Sad Puppy Song' ‘Summas Bliss' ‘We Bros' ‘Splitting Blood' ‘Dirt' ‘Concrete Gold' '14 Crowns For Me & Your Friends' ‘Heavy Pop'. The Lyric Boys

In honor of the 10th anniversary of "Go Tell Fire To The Mountain," The Lyric Boys tackle 10 lyrics by WU LYF, ie World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation, the mysterious Manchester indie rock band who made waves with their cathartic sound, demonic vocals, and unique brand of "heavy pop." Also featured is Lost Under Heaven, the latest project by WU LYF singer and lyricist Ellery James Roberts. The Lyric Boys discuss loving things forever, putting suits on animals, what it means to be the Burger King, and how dollar is a fake friend. And stick around to the end when the Lyric Boys improvise their own WU LYF style lyrics. Songs discussed: We Bros, Spitting Blood, Dirt, LYF, Such A Sad Puppy Dog, Cave Song, Heavy Pop, Lament, Beneath The Concrete, and $ORO. En la primera hora sonaron canciones y discos de 1992: Tori Amos, Juliana Hatfield, Lush, Curve, Stereolab, Right Said Fred, Afghan Whigs, Buffalo Tom, Ocean Colour Scene, Pavement, Manic Street Preachers, The Charlatans y Ride. Ellery is one of those artists who as soon as I learned about him I just wanted to know. I'm really happy to say he (along with his partner Ebony Hoorn whom will be featured next week) has become friend. I've had the pleasure of sharing tea, meals, drinks, shows. Ideas. The guy is full of them. Every aspect of his existence if felt and thought out. He really. lives by doctrine I respect and follow, of examining the day, and making it exactly what you choose it to be. His experience as an artist has touched more aspects than most, his perspective as broad as his tastes. This is a cool follow up to Preservation Hall episode, because his band Lost Under Heaven are pivoting to a patronage model. We get deep into that. He tells stories from his artistic beginnings with WU LYF, to blockchain collabs, to everything coming next. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/teawithsg/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/teawithsg/support
