The flowers are blooming and the calendar says May. That can only mean one thing: the Eurovision Song Contest is upon us once again. This year, thirty-five countries face off to determine the best song that Europe and adjacent continents have to offer. However, the competition comes with a big asterisk: while Eurovision prides themselves on being “apolitical,” the inclusion of Israel in the competition has led to a massive boycott, and the nations of Ireland, Spain, Iceland, Slovenia, and the Netherlands all withdrawing their participation. These are very real concerns impacting the general tenor of the competition this year, and are worth deeply considering. Since  Eurovision is music news, and proves fundamental in discovering new sounds in global pop, as reporters, Nate, Charlie, and Reanna run down the top contenders according to bookmakers as of this recording. Anita talks to Alice alongside Julie Gooderick, a sports scientist based at the University of Kent, who is closely studying Alice's return. We speak to Sanju Pal who has won her high court Employment Appeal Tribunal against the global consulting firm where she worked for 10 years. She has endometriosis and claimed she was unfairly dismissed. Sanju Pal and Emma Cox, Chief Executive of Endometriosis UK, joins Anita to discuss the understanding of endometriosis in the workplace, and what this judgement could mean for other women. The BRIT Award nominations were out last night and women dominate. Best Pop Act is an all women shortlist: RAYE, Lily Allen, Lola Young, Olivia Dean and JADE. Lola Young and Olivia Dean have the most nominations, both up for Artist of the Year, alongside Lily Allen, JADE, Little Simz and PinkPantheress. Nearly two thirds of the nominations feature women as solo artists or in mixed gender group - the highest representation yet. So why are women riding high in the music industry at the moment? John is joined by Scottish musician and producer Sam Gellaitry. Described as “your favourite producer's favourite producer”, Sam's innovative, genre-blending electronic music and superb production skills have earned him a loyal fan following and industry respect over the past decade.  Sam signed his first deal, with XL Recordings, at just 18. While early EPs were purely instrumental, Sam started to incorporate his own vocals on fifth EP, IV (2021). The track ‘Assumptions' from the EP became his biggest hit to date, reaching No. 5 on the US Dance Chart. In 2022, Sam's collaboration with Pink Pantheress, ‘Picture in my Mind', brought him to mainstream attention. The same year, he released his mixtape VF VOL II and was named by EDM as one of the 10 best producers of the year. Sam has toured extensively with artists including Kaytranada and Justice whilst continuing to release singles and selling out a multiple-night residency at cult London club Phonox. Sam's debut album, ‘ANYWHERE HERE IS PERFECT' was released on 7th November 2025. Sitting down at Baltic Studios in London, Sam talks John through how the gear he uses has evolved over the years and the bespoke approaches he takes to create his unique, 80s-influenced sound. Sam talks about how having synaesthesia (experiencing music as colours) since childhood has been central to his creative process, his techniques for producing vocals and string sounds on the album, and much more! The TikTok tour de force talks about '90s electronica, UK garage and her 2025 mixtape, Fancy Some More? There's a new generation of artists who've come up almost entirely online, and perhaps the breakthrough star of the TikTok music era is PinkPantheress. A few years ago, the British 24-year-old quietly strategised how to game the social media algorithm and get her songs to go viral. She succeeded—and became a headliner practically overnight. She's openly talked about how she got there, including writing songs in short formats and using confessional, diaristic lyrics to capture the hearts of her growing audience. Today, PinkPantheress is promoting her 2025 mixtape, Fancy Some More?, which heavily references the UK club sounds of the '90s and early '00s, blended seamlessly with contemporary electronica and pop. In this interview with RA's Joelle Robinson, she dives into the making of this release, and candidly reflects on navigating her newfound fame and overcoming the challenges, both personal and professional, that have accompanied a high-intensity touring life. She also reveals her aspirations for the future—which include big plans to reach yet another level of success—and her dreams for the broader electronic music landscape, too.
