Your Go-To Guide for All Things Emotional Eating

Emotional eating is something with which I have definitely struggled, and it's also something with which many other people who have had unhealthy relationships with food have likely dealt, so join me, myself, and I this week as I walk you through all of the ins and outs of emotional eating! This episode ultimately serves as your guide to how to cope with emotional eating – covering what emotional eating is, when it's harmful and when it's normal, how you can overcome emotional eating binges when they happen, and also why emotional eating might not actually be the problem! I share with you how to cope with emotions in a constructive way by making use of a toolbox, doing things like journaling (regular listeners know how much I love journaling!) and taking deep breaths. I also give you even more examples of how to combat emotional eating that is harmful by turning to the emotional eating algorithm from The SociEATy's stage 2 workbook, and I remind you that it's important to remember that even when you feel like you're eating emotionally and that it's strictly psychological, that might not actually be true. There might also be a biological urge attached to that. Remember that, as I discuss in episode 13 of the podcast, there is more than one type of hunger! I hope that this episode is helpful for you in giving you a resource to turn to for emotional eating, one that you can revisit as needed! Remember that I absolutely love hearing from you, so screenshot this episode and let me know what was especially helpful or interesting! I would love it if you would leave a review via whatever platform that you use to listen as I read each and every one of your reviews and it helps The SociEATy continue to do what we do. If you aren't already, be sure to also subscribe to The SociEATy Podcast so that you never miss an episode!   Time Stamps [1:11] – Colleen announces this episode's topic as emotional eating. [3:33] – Colleen starts by addressing that emotional eating is not always a bad thing, explaining how it's a spectrum. [7:22] – Colleen shifts the discussion toward creating an emotional eating toolbox. [11:50] – We are treated to some examples of what to put in our emotional eating toolbox. [14:17] – Colleen walks us through the emotional eating algorithm from The SociEATy's stage 2 workbook. [19:33] – Colleen reminds us that it's okay to honor a craving even when it's not hunger. [21:54] – Colleen emphasizes that the emotional eating algorithm takes time to master. [24:40] – We are reminded that this becomes automatic eventually even though it's a lot of work at first. [25:44] – Colleen reminds us that when we feel like we are eating emotionally, there might also be a biological reason for us to want to eat.   Links and Resources Colleen Christensen Nutrition – Website The SociEATy - Become a Member The SociEATy's Instagram Page Colleen's Instagram Page Colleen's YouTube Page The SociEATy Podcast - “Everything to Know About the 4 Types of Hunger”

The Narrow Path of The Righteous

Episode 142 breaks down mind control. Subverting by means of psychological tactics an individual's control of his or her mind (thinking, behavior, emotions, or decisions). The Nephilim and elites have studied, introduced and have used various means of mind control. From the electromagnetic frequencies coming directly from the radio, tel-lie-vision, to smartphones. Mind control also exist through fear-mongering, propaganda and censorship. Ezekiel 30: [12]. Idolatry is what makes the masses susceptible to the mind control of the elites. Idolatry in and of itself, puts one into mind control and they are at the mercy of the web in Babylon. We are witnessing worldwide mind control in the form of today's so-called “pandemic.” It's evident that this form of mind control has all but been perfected and will only lead those who follow along, to their demise. Proverbs 29: [12]. It's up to The Most High's righteous people to warn those around them about the world's evil, wickedness, and idolatry. It's up to The Most High's righteous people to share the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of The Most High. Ezekiel 33: [8-9]. Without the Laws, Statutes, and Commandments of The Most High, we'll only continue to be given calamity throughout our lives. All praises to The Most High. Links What Is Mind Control? This week, we'll take a peek at the news. Last week, president Biden unveiled his administration's plan for a $3.5 trillion infrastructure plan which the democrats hope to pass through reconciliation. While the details are still sparse, we do know that one of the linchpins of the Biden administration's climate strategy -- a national clean electricity standard (CES) -- is included in the plan. It's a big deal. If you care about the power sector, a national CES might be the most impactful piece of legislation affecting it in decades. If you care about decarbonization, almost every pathway drives directly through a decarbonized power sector combined with large-scale electrification of other sectors such as transportation, industry and heating. But the details are still being worked out, and there's a labyrinth of parliamentary rules that a CES would have to navigate to make it through the US Senate's budget reconciliation process. To shine a light on the process and what a CES could look like, Shayle turns to Jesse Jenkins, an energy modeling expert at Princeton who is helping to design the policy in the bill. Shayle and Jesse talk about the differences between a Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) and a CES, crafting a CES through the budget instead of regulation, the role that technology-neutral tax credits could play in the bill, the funds and penalties utilities might face, and how to get the incentives right for the energy transition given the limitations of reconciliation. The Football History Dude is part of the https://sportshistorynetwork.com/ (Sports History Network - The Headquarters For Sports Yesteryear). EPISODE SUMMARY This time I take the DeLorean to many timelines in "The World of Football" with podcast host and football historian, Rand Snow. You may have read or heard some of his work before, and if you did, you very well may know how much of a Detroit Lion's fan he is. So yes, as a diehard Lion's fan myself, this episode does tilt a little bit that way. Don't worry though, we get into so much football history, the episode ended up going over an hour. Below are a few of the topics we discuss: The mission of Randy's website and podcast - http://theworldoffootball.com/index.html (The World of Football) His experience at the most recent Professional Football Researcher's Association Convention (listen to episode 203 of The World of Football for a more in-depth rundown of the events The meat and potatoes of the interview revolved around the most recent issue of the https://www.profootballresearchers.org/coffin-corner.html (Coffin Corner), a bi-monthly publication from the https://sportshistorynetwork.com/football/nfl/football-history-in-america/ (Professional Researchers Association) - Randy had an article make the front cover, titled "10 Things You Didn't Know About the Detroit Lions" Randy has visited http://theworldoffootball.com/aboutme.htm (numerous graves of football legends) throughout his years. We discussed some of his most cherished, the reason behind it, and even where he's taking my DeLorean if he could spend a day with one person from the graves. There's so much more I can't include it all. AUTHOR BIO ***NOTE - Below is from Randy's website - http://theworldoffootball.com/aboutme.htm (The World of Football) What do I know about The World of Football? Plenty. I have traveled quite a bit over the years and I've experienced many aspects of the football world first hand.  I saw my first NFL game in 1975 at the age of 16 when my brother took me to a Detroit Lions game. The Lions defeated the Green Bay Packers that day, 13-10. It was the first season that the Lions played in the Pontiac Silverdome.  I played high school football in 1976 at Maple Valley High School in Vermontville, Michigan. At 115 pounds, I was the third-string offensive center for the MV Lions. I was terrible as a player, but I was, and always have been, a huge fan of the game. In 1983, I attended my first United States Football League (USFL) game, also at the Pontiac Silverdome. The Michigan Panthers defeated the Chicago Blitz 17-12. In 1985 I flew out to Arizona from Michigan to see Doug Flutie and the New Jersey Generals play Doug Williams and the Arizona Outlaws. Arizona won the game, 31-13. (I was young and single at the time and could afford to do crazy stuff like that) I went to my first Canadian Football League game in Toronto in 1994, again to see Doug Flutie play. This time he was playing for the visiting Calgary Stampeders. Calgary beat the Toronto Argonauts, 52-3 at the SkyDome. In 2000, I attended my first Arena Football League game. The Grand Rapids Rampage lost to the visiting Tampa Bay Storm 74-54, but I had such a great time that night that I was hooked on the game. I became a Rampage season ticket holder the very next season. In 2003, I began covering the Rampage for the website, ArenaFan.com. I also attended my first National Indoor Football League game and my first arenafootball2 game that... Support this podcast

TRANSCRIPT OF AUDIO From the Cumberland Gap to the Atlantic Ocean, this is Virginia Water Radio for the week of June 7, 2021. MUSIC – ~10 seconds - instrumentalThat's part of “Tropical Tantrum,” composed for Virginia Water Radio in 2017 by Torrin Hallett, a recent graduate of Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver.  The music sets the stage for our annual preview of the Atlantic basin tropical cyclone season.  We start with some guest voices, calling out names that, if we're lucky, will not become infamous this summer or fall.   Have a listen for about 30 seconds, and see if you can guess who—or rather, what—is being named. GUEST VOICES - ~30 sec – “Ana.  Bill.  Claudette.  Danny.  Elsa.  Fred.  Grace.  Henri.  Ida.  Julian.  Kate.  Larry.  Mindy.  Nicholas.  Odette.  Peter.  Rose.  Sam.  Teresa.  Victor.  Wanda.” If you guessed the names planned for storms that may occur during this year's Atlantic tropical cyclone season, you're right!  The Atlantic basin includes the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of Mexico, and the Atlantic tropical cyclone season runs officially from June 1 through November 30.  Most Atlantic tropical cyclones occur within this period, but not all of them.  For the past six years in the Atlantic basin, named storms have formed before June 1, including Alex in January 2016, and this year, Ana, which strengthened into a tropical storm on May 23. [Editor's note, not in the audio: Other recent pre-June named Atlantic storms include Arlene in April 2017, Alberto in May 2018, Andrea in May 2019, and Arthur in May 2020.]Tropical storms and hurricanes are two categories of tropical cyclones, which are rotating storm systems that start in tropical or sub-tropical latitudes.  A tropical cyclone is called a tropical storm—and gets a name—when sustained wind speeds reach 39 miles per hour; at 74 miles per hour, a tropical cyclone is considered a hurricane.  Tropical depressions—with wind speeds below 39 miles per hour—don't get named if they never reach tropical storm wind speed,* but they can still bring damaging rainfall and flooding.  Hurricane-force storms are called typhoons in northwestern areas of the Pacific Ocean.[Editor's note, not in the audio: A tropical system that never gets above the tropical depression wind-speed level won't be given a name.  But a lingering tropical depression that previously was at the wind speed of a tropical storm or hurricane will have a name associated with it.]Before a tropical system of any speed or name barges into the Old Dominion, here are some important preparedness steps recommended by the National Weather Service. Know your zone – that is, find out if you live in a hurricane evacuation area by checking the Virginia Department of Emergency Management's “Know Your Zone” Web site, or contacting your local emergency management office. Assemble an emergency kit of food, water, medicines, and supplies. Have a family emergency plan, including plans for evacuating and for getting in touch with one another in an emergency. Review your insurance policiesto ensure that you have adequate coverage for your home and personal property. And establish ways to stay informed, especially if the power goes out, and be sure you understand the meaning of Weather Service forecast terms. Detailed safety tips for hurricanes and other severe weather are available from the “Safety” link at the National Weather Service Web site, www.weather.gov. Thanks to several Blacksburg, Va., friends for lending their voices to this episode.  Thanks also to Torrin Hallett for this week's music, and we close with the last 15 seconds of “Tropical Tantrum.” MUSIC – ~15 seconds - instrumental SHIP'S BELL Virginia Water Radio is produced by the Virginia Water Resources Research Center, part of Virginia Tech's College of Natural Resources and Environment.  For more Virginia water sounds, music, or information, visit us online at virginiawaterradio.org, or call the Water Center at (540) 231-5624.  Thanks to Stewart Scales for his banjo version of Cripple Creek to open and close this show.  In Blacksburg, I'm Alan Raflo, thanking you for listening, and wishing you health, wisdom, and good water. EXTRA INFORMATION ON TROPICAL CYCLONE PREPAREDNESS The following information is quoted from the National Weather Service, ‘Hurricane Safety,” online at https://www.weather.gov/safety/hurricane. Plan for a Hurricane: What to Do Before the Tropical Storm or Hurricane(online at https://www.weather.gov/safety/hurricane-plan)“The best time to prepare for a hurricane is before hurricane season begins on June 1.  It is vital to understand your home's vulnerability to storm surge, flooding, and wind.  Here is your checklist of things to do BEFORE hurricane seasons begins.Know your zone: Do you live near the Gulf or Atlantic Coasts?  Find out if you live in a hurricane evacuation area by contacting your local government/emergency management office or, in Virginia, by visiting https://www.vaemergency.gov/hurricane-evacuation-zone-lookup/. Put Together an Emergency Kit: Put together a basic emergency kit; information to do so is online at https://www.ready.gov/kit.  Check emergency equipment, such as flashlights, generators, and storm shutters.Write or review your Family Emergency Plan: Before an emergency happens, sit down with your family or close friends and decide how you will get in contact with each other, where you will go, and what you will do in an emergency.  Keep a copy of this plan in your emergency supplies kit or another safe place where you can access it in the event of a disaster.  Information to help with emergency plan preparation is online at https://www.ready.gov/plan. Review Your Insurance Policies: Review your insurance policies to ensure that you have adequate coverage for your home and personal property.Understand NWS forecast products, especially the meaning of NWS watches and warnings.Preparation tips for your home are available from the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, online at https://www.flash.org/. Preparation tips for those with chronic illnesses are available from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, online at https://www.cdc.gov/chronicdisease/resources/infographic/emergency.htm.Actions to Take When a Tropical Storm or Hurricane Threatens(online at https://www.weather.gov/safety/hurricane-action) “When a hurricane threatens your community, be prepared to evacuate if you live in a storm surge risk area.  Allow enough time to pack and inform friends and family if you need to leave your home. Secure your home: Cover all of your home's windows.  Permanent storm shutters offer the best protection for windows.  A second option is to board up windows with 5/8 inch exterior grade or marine plywood, built to fit, and ready to install.  Buy supplies before the hurricane season rather than waiting for the pre-storm rush. Stayed tuned in: Check the websites of your local National Weather Service office (online at https://www.weather.gov/) and local government/emergency management office.  Find out what type of emergencies could occur and how you should respond. Listen to NOAA Weather Radio or other radio or TV stations for the latest storm news. Follow instructions issued by local officials. Leave immediately if ordered! If NOT ordered to evacuate: *Take refuge in a small interior room, closet, or hallway on the lowest level during the storm.  Put as many walls between you and the outside as you can. *Stay away from windows, skylights, and glass doors. *If the eye of the storm passes over your area, there will be a short period of calm, but at the other side of the eye, the wind speed rapidly increases to hurricane force winds coming from the opposite direction.” After a Hurricane(online at https://www.weather.gov/safety/hurricane-after) Continue listening to a NOAA Weather Radio or the local news for the latest updates. If you evacuated, return home only when officials say it is safe. Once home, drive only if necessary and avoid flooded roads and washed-out bridges.  If you must go out, watch for fallen objects in the road, downed electrical wires, and weakened walls, bridges, roads, and sidewalks that might collapse. Walk carefully around the outside of your home to check for loose power lines, gas leaks, and structural damage. Stay out of any building if you smell gas, if floodwaters remain around the building, if the building or home was damaged by fire, or if the authorities have not declared it safe. Carbon monoxide poisoning is one of the leading causes of death after storms in areas dealing with power outages.  Never use a portable generator inside your home or garage. Use battery-powered flashlights.  Do NOT use candles.  Turn on your flashlight before entering a vacated building.  The battery could produce a spark that could ignite leaking gas, if present.” EXTRA INFORMATION ON TROPICAL CYCLONE NAMES The following information is quoted from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, “Tropical Cyclone Names,” online at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/aboutnames.shtml, as of 6-8-21.“Since 1953, Atlantic tropical storms had been named from lists originated by the National Hurricane Center.  They are now maintained and updated through a strict procedure by an international committee of the World Meteorological Organization [online at http://www.wmo.int/pages/prog/www/tcp/]. “[Six lists] are used in rotation and re-cycled every six years, i.e., the 2019 list will be used again in 2025.  The only time that there is a change in the list is if a storm is so deadly or costly that the future use of its name on a different storm would be inappropriate for reasons of sensitivity.  If that occurs, then at an annual meeting by the WMO committee (called primarily to discuss many other issues) the offending name is stricken from the list and another name is selected to replace it.  Several names have been retired since the lists were created.  [More information on the hi

I know how frustrating it is to gain weight out of nowhere—and nothing you do seems to make any difference.
