Paul McDonald and Britt Mooney talk about We Bought a Zoo with Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson. Some of our greatest adventures begin in our darkest trauma. We get to decide whether to follow the story of safety and security or the story of mystery and miracles. We discover that facing our worst trials takes courage. Join us as we discover God's truth in this movie. Questions How do you define adventure? What adventures do you love to go on? What adventure would you love to go on? Do you find yourself taking the observer role or the participant role? How do you respond to grief? Immerse yourself in work? Take crazy risky adventures? Try to start over? Avoid risk completely, pursue security and safety? If Jesus were to walk up to you and ask, “What would you like me to do?” what would you say? Avoid the religious answer, but dig in to discover what your heart longs for. Where have you played it safe? Where have you looked crazy, followed the Wild Goose? When have you wanted to give up? What adventure do you feel God is calling you to? Where does it feel unsafe? Our guest this week is a musician. He's also a record producer, an artist in sound, and fanatical about the performing talent he sees in others, often choosing to promote and guide those performers in their careers. From being signed to a string of record companies in the seventies, to signing other acts to his label in the eighties, he then went on to launch his professional symphony orchestra in the nineties. But… not content to stand still for long, come the noughties, he turned his attention to professional speaking, and now supports the careers of a select number of aspiring musicians and speakers. QJ welcome to Speaking Business TV. Questions: How did you get into sound and sound recording in the first place, and how old were you when you started? You have a lot of experience with speech-based recording and broadcasting, working with professional voice-overs and actors. How is this different from, say, recording music, and how did you get into this particular arena? What are the factors of sound quality that speakers need to pay attention to, whenever they're presenting online like we are now? And what difference will it make when they “get it right”? One of the things about working in the post production industry is that a huge opportunity can suddenly come knocking without any notice. It certainly has happened to me. On episode 21 of the Hollywood Editing Mentor podcast, editor/assistant editor Chris Cavanagh joins me to talk about the importance of putting in the work to prepare ourselves for big opportunities, which he recently got when he was asked if he was ready to co-edit an episode of the hit Netflix show, Narcos: Mexico. We'll hear all about his experience and some cool stories from the past 5 years because that's how long I've known Chris. It was five years ago that Chris and I landed in Los Angeles and started our journey to transition from unscripted to scripted television. We met at a networking event not long after we both arrived in LA from New York City and instantly connected and became friends. We supported each other during this transitional period, eventually broke into scripted television editorial in Hollywood, and now we actually got a chance to work together on Narcos: Mexico. Chris was my assistant editor on season 3 and we ended up co-editing an episode. So now that he's getting his first scripted co-editing credit, Chris is also going to share his strategy for making his way to the editing chair full time.Chris and I will also be discussing ideas that can help you get out of your comfort zone in order to achieve your goals, how you can take ownership of your career and develop a vision for your future, ways to build trust with colleagues, the importance of putting yourself out there and communicating your interests, how we can find emotional support by being part of a community, why it's important to give a job 100% effort even if you know it's not suited for you, saying ‘no' to work that is not going to lead us down the right career path, and much more practical advice and stories from two people that made a career change to pursue their dreams.Other topics discussed in this episode include:How Chris learned Spanish to prepare for working on season 3 of Narcos: MexicoCreating a financial plan to make a career change when you have a family and move to a new cityHow Chris got his first big break in scripted television as an assistant editor on the hit Netflix series, Cobra KaiCharacter-building moments at a Spartan RaceGetting hired on a scripted television series even though you don't have the right experienceNot being an expert at a job, but being able to find solutions to problemsMaking mistakes at work doesn't define who you areDoing everything possible to not make the same mistake twiceLearning new skills by simply talking to people and asking questionsHow episode 2 with Auggie Rexach influenced ChrisFinding support through mentorshipChris' experience working on season 3 of Narcos: MexicoIncorporating yourself into a new post production teamNegotiating a co-editing credit as an assistant editorCLICK HERE to join the Hollywood Editing Mentor community!SUBSCRIBE  and leave a 5-star review on Apple Podcasts!Original Music: "Apollo's Haze" by JesusdapnkFacebook: www.fb.com/jesusdapnkSoundcloud: www.soundcloud.com/jesusdapnkInstagram: @jesusdapnk

READ: Psalm 59.17 NLT 'O my Strength, to you I sing praises, for you, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love.' Is your life a struggle at the moment? I'm really sorry if that's the case, but I want to encourage you with the thought that you are in very good company. In this psalm, like many others, David pours out the detail of his struggles. He feels physically threatened and describes his opponents as being like vicious dogs, snarling as they prowl the streets. He also reflects on the curses and lies that his opponents keep hurling at him. There seems to be no limit to the challenges that he faces. Whether you are struggling or not, we would all do well to listen to the way in which David faces up to his situation with brutal honesty. When life is a struggle, and we all experience that from time to time, it's so important for us to be honest about it and especially with God. He already knows the whole story and so we aren't informing him of anything. He knows the kind of people we are and our history, so he is perfectly able to understand whatever we are up against. Like David we need to make sure that our prayers express exactly how we are. It's also important that our prayers in church reflect the fact that we all experience struggles and difficulties from time to time. There can be a temptation in some churches for the prayers to be so full of victory and celebration that there is no space to offer to God our struggles and disappointments. That's sad, because our worship needs to reflect the whole of life and not just our edited highlights. On two occasions in this psalm, David burst out in praise by affirming that God was his strength and his refuge. Amidst the troubles of his life, he didn't forget that God was always with him, giving him the encouragement and protection that he needed. When we face times of difficulty, however bad it gets, we can always praise God that he is standing with us, keeping us strong and secure. QUESTIONS: How do you cope with the struggles that you face in life? PRAYER: Loving God, thank you that you are always able to strengthen and help me, however hard times might be. Amen

Andrew, welcome to the show. Andrew: Thank you. Jason: Andrew, you're with an organization company called BuyMoreTime. Andrew: That's it. We are a short-term rental property management solution. Jason: Cool. Andrew, we don't have a lot of vendors and people on the show typically related to the short-term rental industry. This will be interesting because I have been getting a lot more calls related to that lately. Maybe a lot of people are starting to resurrect these short-term rental businesses coming out of the pandemic, where there's a black swan event that squashed the industry temporarily. Let's first get into a little bit of background about you and how you got into this industry. Andrew: Yeah, sure. It's funny. We're on a podcast right now. I actually started a long time ago as a marketing director for a podcast. I don't know if you've ever heard of the Best Ever Real Estate Investing Show with Joe Fairless. He buys multi-family apartments. That's his main gig. Jason: I think I was on that show. I've been on a lot of podcasts back in the day. Andrew: I wouldn't be surprised. Heck, maybe, I reached out to you some years ago, who knows? It's the world's longest daily real estate podcast. I mean his work ethic is insane. Years ago, I got into real estate. I jumped into (of course) Bigger Pockets. I jumped into Joe Fairless's podcast. On one of the podcast episodes he said, I am looking for a marketing director. Someone that can help connect me with more guests. If that's you, send me an email. I'm like, I want to try that. I sent him an email. I'm like, I don't care if he pays me. If he pays me, great. If he doesn't, so what? I was his marketing director and I got to meet some of the coolest people—Grant Cardone, Gary Keller, some really big names. I didn't get to speak to Barbara Corcoran, but I got to send an email. There were some pretty big names on that podcast and I was actually able to be a guest. I was starting my real estate journey and from there I started buying and selling properties, wholesaling, buying, fixing, and flipping. I started buying small apartments, 6 units, 10 units and so on and so forth. Then I got licensed because I wanted to take it a little bit further. I thought, okay, if I'm not going to buy these, I'm going to either manage them, and so on and so forth. Then I realized about 3½–4 years ago from an accident, actually, that shorter rental management is big bucks. In fact, we bought a house that we couldn't sell. We tried everything we could to move, the property just wouldn't move for some reason; it was just a weird property. I told my partner, whatever. Let's furnish it. We went to goodwill. We got these truckloads of just random furniture and we loaded up into this house—we're such rookies—and we put it up or lease or we set it up for Airbnb. I kid you not, this lady wanted to rent it for a week for $250 a night. I was like, it's got to be a joke. There's no way. She's like, no, I'd love to stay here, me and my family. From there, I thought, the short-term rental space is where it's at. We started buying more, furnishing more. Then all of our friends said, can you help us manage ours? We're like, okay, we can help you. It's hoteling 101, but that's how we became BuyMoreTime. We noticed that owners of short-term rental properties just wanted more time and freedom, and managing a hotel is not time and freedom. It's a lot of work. Jason: Right. I don't think there's any industry that takes more time and more customer interaction than the hospitality industry. I think that's rated at the top. Property management is second to that, they say, so it's right there. Andrew: It's pretty insane. There's so many facets to this. There's legal, there's inventory, there is coordination with cleaning and maintenance. Then there's guest responses. It's literally 24/7. There is no sleep. If you don't have a team, you will not thrive. Jason: Right. Tell us a little bit about BuyMoreTime. What is it exactly that you do? Andrew: BuyMoreTime is a flat rate management service for short-term rentals. We are a service-first company. If you have a property on a short-term rental platform, say, Airbnb, VRBO, if you have a motel, small apartment building, you want to do a couple of apartments and you want to maximize your ROI by leveraging the short-term rental platforms and its traffic, then you can hire us. We will manage that for you. We'll set it up. Most of the time we're looking for clients that already had it built, but we can set it up. We will set your teams—you're cleaning team, your maintenance team. We'll handle messaging 24/7. We will take over your hotel. That's what we do. Jason: Okay, the hotel. Awesome. Cool and I checked my inbox. I was on the Joe Fairless podcast back in May of 2019. It's been some years, but I was there at one point. Andrew: That's so cool. Jason: But I didn't even know it was that big of a deal. I guess that was pretty cool for me in hindsight. Andrew: That is really cool. Jason: Awesome. What would you say to people that might be tuning into this on the short-term rental side that are doing this themselves currently? Why would they want to get in partnership with you? Andrew: Well, just like our name prescribes, if you are tired of wasting or you're trading your time for money and you love the ROI, you love the income, 2–3 times than average rents across the nation is what you can expect from a short-term rental. If you're getting $700 rent in the south, you could get double that. You can get triple that. Depending on where you are. There are many variables. But if you're tired of handling that yourself, you can literally hand it over to our company. Our sales team will answer all your questions. We'll link you up into our software. We will hit the green button and you sit back and simply watch the interaction between your guest and our team and obviously your bank account. There is no touching it. I mean we literally set it up in the beginning so you don't have to manage it all. We have your team. We have your inventory. We would restock your toilet paper, paper towels. Sheets. There's just so much to say. It'll hurt your head if you think about it. Inventory management and supply chain, that's what we do. We handle all that. That's what your listeners can glean from our company. That's what we can do for them. Jason: Now, you had mentioned a little bit of info about how appealing it might be to get into the short-term rental game, 2–3 times the amount of income coming in. But what about those that have been burned by Covid? They said this was too painful. We weren't prepared for this. Money just stopped. Vacation rental market was just decimated. They're just afraid to get back into the game. Andrew: You know what's funny? Covid actually was great. I think that's the only thing I'll say about Covid as far as short-term rentals go. For a property manager or for an apartment owner, for property owners, Covid was not great because you have the moratorium. There's a lot of struggles there. For us, for the short-term rental gamers, it was wonderful. People couldn't leave. No one could go anywhere. We saw a decline in March of 2020. We saw a slight decline in occupancy. Our typical occupancy is hovering around 92%. Occupancy inside the short-term rental game is very different. You got 30 nights out of a month, depending how many nights you booked, that's your occupancy rate. It dipped I think just 70% flat, 70% or 73% flat. After March, we started exploding. It was quite the opposite. People couldn't go to Europe. People couldn't go to other countries, so they had staycations. In the beginning, this whole journey there's kind of like this Airbnb belief that when you have a guest that wants to go from one side of the city to stay in your place, that's a big red flag because it's probably going to be a party, probably going to be a kid. But at this moment, with Covid, it was like, look, I'm a tired mother. My husband and I would just want to get away. We got a babysitter. Covid shut us down, can we come stay? We haven't changed our [...], yeah sure. We don't discriminate, but at the same time, we would stop asking all the prying questions. Are you in college or not? College parties are the worst. But we would allow them to. We actually exploded really well during Covid. Jason: Interesting. I would have thought it would have been the opposite. Now, is BuyMoreTime location-specific? Is this all over the US? Is it beyond? Where do you guys do this at? Andrew: We're in five states right now and two countries. We're in Canada, in here, and five states. We can do this anywhere. We could pick up anywhere. Obviously, you need to qualify. We have a qualifying call. It's called a discovery call where we discuss what your property is like, its condition, your needs, and so on and so forth. See if we're a good fit. Not everybody's a good fit, obviously. Not every property is a good fit. Not every area is a good fit. We just want to make sure that it's going to be a win-win situation for everybody. Jason: Are you wanting listeners that are listening to the DoorGrowShow, to this episode, regardless of where they're at to just reach out, or are you looking for specific areas? Andrew: Regardless of where they're at to reach out, absolutely. Jason: Cool. What are some of the biggest questions that potential clients want to know when talking with you? Andrew: Number one question, how much could my property go for? How much could my property rent for if I was to work with BuyMoreTime? My answer is, when you come to BuyMoreTime, you should already be established. We're not a coaching company. We're not a let's boost your traffic. You should already be established, description, photos, 5-star reviews and you say, look, I got this in the bag. I just need to hand over the reins. That's all I want to do. For the costs, less than paying a VA every month, you're going to hire our team and we're going to run all of your operations. Jason: So this is for those that are just tired of the turnover, tired of the logistics, tired of making sure all the moving parts are happening. You'll handle all of that. Andrew: Correct. Jason: It sounds like you do it quite affordably. Andrew: Yup. $349 a month is our price and it doesn't fluctuate. The good news is we built this to service our property, to scratch our own itch. We're investors first. We have short-term rentals. We buy property. I'm sitting in one right now, up north. I've only been here for a couple months, brought my family into it. This will eventually be a short-term rental up in the pines. We wanted something where I didn't have to pay 20%, 25%, 15% of my profits. There's a lot of other companies out there like us where they have this really cool software and service—services, in my opinion, are subpar—but you pay out 20% of your profits on your highest month. It's like you're being penalized for using their service. To me, I would want some sort of program that I know what I'm paying for every single month. Every single month is the same rate, no matter what. In that way, I can easily predict my income for my highest months. Everybody's got the highest months. Austin's got a high season. Arizona, all over the place, they have a high season and low season. Florida, they have a high season. For us in AZ for example, it's going to be March and April. From other places, it is that same month or those months. These companies rob you 20% of your total proceeds. I thought that's not cool. Let's give the profits back to the owners and we'll just take a small fee for managing their property. Jason: All right, so the first the main question everyone wants to know is how much could they get and probably what is the cost. What else are they curious about, usually? Andrew: They usually want what I need in my property? What should be inside it? Especially, if you haven't done this before. Let's say you manage apartments, or you own a building, or whatever it may be, and you're talking to some partners or your client about setting up an Airbnb. That's probably one of the biggest questions is what goes inside of it? The one thing I need to tell people is when you have a short-term rental, you're not selling a place to stay. You're selling experience. I don't know, Jason, if you've ever stayed in a property on Airbnb before, but I just… Jason: I have. Andrew: You have? Just scrolling, you're looking for beautiful photos. You're looking for awesome amenities. You're looking for 5-star reviews. You're not looking 4-star, you're not looking for 3-stars, you want the best. You're looking for a very awesome experience. I think the biggest mistake that a lot of short-term rental managers go through is they're just trying to just fill it with stuff. That's not the case. If you have the ability to stock the fridge, stock the fridge. If you can leave a note for your guest, leave a note. If you could set up a system to leave nice things for your guests or send an extra message saying, we're so glad you're here, do it because that's what it's about. Jason: Yeah. There's a really great book called The Giftology, and in this book he talks about how just little gifts and little things actually make a big difference. And that makes a big difference giving something because that just makes it novel. It makes it stand out. It makes it different. I really enjoyed the show on Netflix called Stay Here. I don't know if you've seen that. Andrew: Yes. Jason: They're making these properties ready to be really amazing experiences, and that was a big part of the show is all about this experience. People are coming to Austin and have a certain type of experience. There needs to be a barbecue and some of these things. People are going to different areas in order to have the experience of that area and kind of tying that in. They made it really hyper relevant. Any other questions people tend to ask? Andrew: I think one other question they ask is how do I stand out? How do I be different? Everybody has got a condo on Airbnb. If you go to airbnb.com right now, looking at Austin, look in your zip code, you'll see thousands. How do I stand out? I think the biggest tip I have for those people that want to know how to stand out is, what is something that is going to make your place so memorable that people will be talking about it and they'll come back? There's a really easy way to do this by asking yourself what do people not offer that I can offer? What do they not have that I have? Some people have this huge TV, surround sound, just crazy entertainment, amazing sofa. That's good, but what is extra? I've seen some people add movie tickets or tickets to some amusement parks. I don't know how cost-effective that is, obviously, but depending on your budget versus how you can stand out, that's going to predict how you stand out. Jason: Interesting, cool. Well, how can people get a hold of you that might be interested? Andrew: This question always comes up in podcasts. I sometimes tell my cell phone number, but there's a link that actually you have, Jason, where you can get a hold of us. I'll just let you add that to the show notes. I'm going to just defer that back to you. Other than that, you could reach out to me on Facebook. Jason: Awesome. Yeah. He gave me an affiliate link, everybody, which is cool. I appreciate that. We'll put that link in the show notes. We'll link that on the podcast episode, online on our blog as well. It's been great getting familiar with you here a little bit. I really enjoyed the different perspective on Covid about the short-term rental industry. I know that I had lots of clients in the long-term game that were able to convert several into long-term during that time period in areas that they had challenges, but that was interesting. I didn't consider the staycation part, but I think a lot of people got really anxious, cooped up inside, and were looking for just a change of scenery, even if it was nearby. That makes a lot of sense. I appreciate you coming on the show, and until next time everybody, to our mutual growth. Make sure you subscribe on iTunes and tune into the DoorGrowShow on YouTube as well. And if you are interested in growing your property management business, we're having some really great success with our new DoorGrow and scale mastermind. READ: Matthew 5.14-16 NLT “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” On the face of it, it seems really surprising that Jesus should be describing his followers as the light of the world. Surely that was his role. But Jesus was recognising that the only way in which people would see his light would be if his followers reflected his light into their communities. It is, therefore, our responsibility to find the most prominent place to put our light so that as many people as possible can see Jesus. It is good that Christians should spend time together. We need the strength and encouragement of worshipping and sharing fellowship. But, at the same time, it is vital for us to be part of our communities in order to have opportunities to share the light of Christ. When our diaries are so full of church meetings that we have no time for anything or anyone else, something has gone desperately wrong. How then will people see this light shining from our lives? Jesus says that it happens as people see our good deeds. We should never be looking for people's praise and recognition for our actions, but as we get on with being Christians in daily life sharing compassion and practical help, the light shines. I have seen this happening time and again through Christians getting stuck into the work of food banks, street pastoring, homeless projects and neighbourhood befriending schemes to name but a few. It is important that our actions are complemented by talking about Jesus, but it is so often the actions that show that our message has credibility. We all have very different opportunities to shine the light of Christ. Your unique network of relationships will enable you to bring the light to places which may not be reached by anyone else. So, however minor and insignificant your good deeds might seem to be, keep them up and thank God that his light will shine through you. QUESTIONS: How has God enabled you to help others? PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to live in such a way that others will see your light. Amen

READ: Matthew 5.6 NLT God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied. I wonder when you last felt painfully hungry or thirsty. I suspect for most of us that, if it has ever happened, it is a distant memory. However, it is likely that Jesus' hearers would have been very familiar with both. Harvests could be good or bad, and it was impossible to achieve a reliable flow of food. Additionally in a hot country people would often have felt desperately thirsty, and finding a good supply of clean water would never have been easy. Jesus wanted his followers to have just this kind of desperate longing for God's will to be done in the world and for his justice to be established. Christianity suffers desperately from those who give it merely polite agreement. They live respectable and kindly lives and consider that Christian faith is generally a very good thing. Jesus is looking for something completely different. He wants us to have the same passion for his kingdom as a hungry and thirsty person has for food and drink. He wants our lives to be dominated by the longing to see his will done and for society to be ordered in a way that honours him. In our worship we will want to express our craving for God's honour, peace and love to be the  experience of everyone in the world. And in our service we will strive to bring his justice and compassion to our society.  The wonderful promise is that God will answer the prayers of those who have this passionate longing for his kingdom. For as long as we live on this earth we will be battling with the reality of sin and injustice. They are sadly an inevitable part of a fallen world but amidst it all God is working with us and hearing our prayers. Our task is to live so close to God that we never lose that passionate desire for his perfect will. Through reading the Bible, our fellowship with other Christians and our worship we keep alive our longing for the perfect, liberating Kingdom of God. QUESTIONS: How hungry and thirsty are you for God's kingdom? PRAYER: Dear Lord, forgive me for my half-heartedness. Give me a passionate desire to do your will. Amen

READ: Isaiah 59.1-2 NLT Listen! The Lord's arm is not too weak to save you, nor is his ear too deaf to hear you call. It's your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore. If God feels far away, guess who moved. Isaiah makes it clear that the answer is decisively not God. Throughout the years people have lashed out at God because he seemed so distant. Have you ever had that feeling that your prayers were bouncing off the ceiling and getting nowhere? I suspect all of us have had that experience from time to time, so we all need to listen to Isaiah and learn that God is never weak or deaf. So when we feel far away from God, the problem is entirely with us. In order to keep close to God we need to keep an eagle eye on the sins which can so easily creep into our lives and push God away. The problem with sin is that it normally presents itself innocently. Perhaps you are feeling overlooked at work. You don't feel that you have received the recognition that you deserve. You start to feel resentful. On the face of it that's understandable but the resentment will grow roots and start to affect your relationship with your colleagues, and can lead to bitterness and anger. From a small start it can lead to emotions that can be incredibly destructive. Yesterday my wife and I had the delight of unblocking a pipe in our bathroom sink. The accumulation of hair and general gunk was amazing! Over the years the  blockage had silently built up without us noticing anything. No big obstacles,  simply the build up of little parts which, in the end, had made the sink unusable. It is exactly the same with sin. It grows slowly and subtly and is hardly noticeable at first. But as it grows it pushes God away and makes us feel that he has abandoned us. Be encouraged. God hasn't left us for a moment and never will. QUESTIONS: How do you face up to the little sins that creep into your life? PRAYER: Lord God, help me to notice those sins that get in the way of my relationship with you and to own up to them. Thank you that you are always willing to forgive me. Amen

READ: Isaiah 58.4 NLT “What good is fasting when you keep on fighting and quarrelling? This kind of fasting will never get you anywhere with me.” Nothing is more unattractive than hypocrisy. When I have talked to people who don't go to church, time and again they have pointed out the gap between churchgoers' faith and actions. This was precisely the situation that Isaiah was  addressing. The people were regular in their attendance at the Temple and they said all the right things. They seemed to take their faith seriously but, in fact, it was all an act. Even when they fasted it was just play acting because they kept on fighting and quarrelling with one another. And the ultimate proof of their hypocrisy was that they treated their employees badly.  Jesus spent a lot of time pointing out people's hypocrisy. In his day the most educated and committed Jews were the Pharisees. No one could doubt that they took their faith seriously. They were meticulous in the way in which they worshipped and tithed, but Jesus repeatedly told them that they were missing the point. Through making an elaborate public performance of their giving and praying they were showing that it was all an act. They were eager to make a  good impression and to be honoured and respected by the people. But Jesus tells them to make their gifts so secretly that even their left hand would not know what their right hand was doing, and to pray with the door shut so that no one could see them. (Matthew 6.1-6) Let's not fool ourselves; there's more than a whiff of hypocrisy about all of us from time to time. We are all far from perfect and we need to be constantly aware of the gaps that can spring up between our faith and our practice. This is one of the reasons why it is so important to have honest and open relationships with our Christian brothers and sisters. Within a community of love and encouragement we need to have people around us who care for us enough to speak words of truth to us, to ensure that our faith and actions are telling the same story. QUESTIONS: How are you guarding against hypocrisy in your own life? PRAYER: Dear Lord, forgive me for those times when my faith is just an act. Help me to live with integrity and faithfulness to you. Amen

READ: Isaiah 55.8-9 NLT “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” Life is full of mysteries. Every day tragedies occur and people scream out to God that life is not fair. As we reach out to others in their times of loss we would love to be able to offer an explanation, but we cannot. The problem of suffering has challenged humankind since the dawn of time and will continue to do so. But the mysteries of life are not only at that end of the spectrum, because the wonders of life are just as mysterious. How can you explain the beauty of a flower, or the wonder of a sunset, or the majesty of the night sky? All these things are beyond our ability to understand. However, we worship a God whose understanding is infinite and whose love knows no limits. How should we respond to the knowledge that God is infinitely greater and wiser than we are? It would be easy to be overwhelmed by this. But a far better response would be to turn to God in worship and adoration, with the knowledge that in this life we will never have the ability to understand everything. To use the language of the apostle Paul, at the moment “we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.” (1 Corinthians 13.12) God doesn't want us to trudge through our lives burdened by all that we do not understand. He wants us to expand our understanding but always with the humility that acknowledges that he is infinitely beyond us. His desire is that we should live at peace with him and ourselves and with the confidence of knowing that, at the right time, we will be given the understanding that we need. In the meantime, we need to focus our energies on worshipping him. QUESTIONS: How do you respond to the fact that God is infinitely wise? PRAYER: Great God of wonders, I worship you. Thank you for this awe-inspiring world that you have created. Help me to worship you with the whole of my life. Amen

READ: Acts 2.43-45 NLT 'A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need.' In his Pentecost day sermon Peter referred to the fact that in his earthly life Jesus did “powerful miracles, wonders and signs” (verse 22). Now the apostles, empowered by the Holy Spirit, are able to continue Jesus' ministry as they performed miraculous signs and wonders. It was an amazing time and it's no wonder that there was a deep sense of awe as people saw God working in power. At the same time the fledgling Christian community adopted a new way of looking at their possessions. They shared all that they owned in order to be able to support one another. This was all done voluntarily and shows the depth of commitment that they had for one another. It has never been a rule that Christians must pool all their money, property and possessions, but loving God inevitably causes us to look at all resources with new eyes. Our possessions have been given to us by God and he calls us to be good stewards of them. One day we will have to give an account of the way in which we have used our resources. On the face of it this might sound very restricting, but it is actually the complete opposite. Possessions can so easily dominate our lives and become our master. The materialistic society in which we live continually tries to peddle the lie that we will find life and fulfilment through possessing more and more things. But the truth is that the only way to find such life and liberty is through recognising that everything we possess has come from God's hands, and is to be used to give glory to him. When we build up our own resources for our own selfish use, we are creating something that will last for a short while and then disappear. But when we use our possessions to strengthen God's kingdom we are building for eternity. QUESTIONS: How good a steward are you of the resources that God has given you? PRAYER: Loving God, thank you for everything that you have given me. Help me to use it all to your glory. Amen

READ: Acts 2.41-42 NLT 'Those who believed what Peter said were baptised and added to the church that day— about 3,000 in all. All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord's Supper), and to prayer.' I love the fact that this earliest description of the church is so similar to what we do today. The world looks completely different in almost every respect, but Christians continue to be nourished in the same way. Teaching was at the heart of their life together. We need to remember that it was decades before any part of the New Testament was written, and so teachers had a crucially important role in the early church. We have the privilege of easy access to the New Testament and innumerable books of Christian teaching, but we still need gifted teachers to help us to understand the Bible and to apply it to our lives. The New Testament knows nothing of solitary Christianity. Christians belong to one another and are sustained by mutual love and support. From day one, fellowship was seen as vitally important and it found expression in the sharing of meals. Eating together is often a powerful way of building relationships and as the early church did so they naturally wanted to celebrate the Lord's Supper. No doubt their meeting was very different from what we would call communion or the eucharist these days but they were strengthened as they reminded themselves of Jesus' Last Supper and obeyed his command to do so in memory of him. And finally, the early Christians met together to pray. Their prayers bound them together and strengthened them for the challenges that were to come. No-one could possibly have guessed how fierce and violent those challenges would be. Prayer would hold them together on the harshest days. Nothing has changed and it is unquestionably the case that the churches that pray together, stay together. Through prayer God gives us the spiritual resources to be able to stand for him whatever the challenges. QUESTIONS: How closely does your church resemble the description of the early church in these verses? PRAYER: Lord God, thank you for the blessing of belonging to your church. Help us to receive teaching with joy, to build fellowship in love, and to be constant in prayer. Amen

Any resources that are helpful?I believe one of the biggest problems with the pre-tribulation rapture view is the type of Christian who believes in it. In my experience, they are shallow and materialistic and are just cherry-picking the most convenient eschatology. They want to graduate college, find a career, get married, buy a house, and then retire comfortably. The tribulation would be awfully inconvenient to them so they just pretend it won't happen. What would be your response to this kind of perspective? What if we pray according to God's will-like for someone's salvation- and God doesn't save them?

Asking people to do things for free without return is no small thingTHIS IS SO STRESSFULInterviews are already stressful (as mentioned), and by also asking candidates to do extra work, it adds another layer of preparation/stress to an already difficult experienceThe implicit “prove it” of the intention - like, “i see you said you know how to do xyz - prove it”Regardless of intention, the impact can feel like aggression and mistrust - a tough way to start out a new relationship with a potential new employeeThe existence of doing work for free as part of the job interview is composed of two parts:An inherent distrust of the candidate - that what they tell you they can do and what they can actually do don’t alignA challenge for candidates to ‘get ahead’ of one another. Getting ahead is a mantra of capitalism - and by telling candidates to create work for you, this is their opportunity to ‘get ahead’ of other candidates. It is a way to perpetuate a system where there is only room for a few at the top. You are looking for the right person to fill the role - there is nothing wrong with that - but by requiring candidates to do extra work outside of what is already going on in their own lives (and if they are applying for a job, there is a guarantee that there is a stress of some kind in their lives), you are assuming that they also have access to a lot of other things:Time to do the work without payAccess to technology to make whatever it is “look” professionalExperience with a work culture like yours that would allow them to know what you are looking for Essentially, if you are an organization that says you are “equal opportunity” - consider how your hiring practices address and are intentional about that commitment How to Do Better - Mindset ChangeAssume positive intentEvery candidate is doing their best, wants to find meaningful work and provide for themselves and their communityHiring managers - related to what we mentioned in our interview episode - be fully aware of the power you have in the room and use it to support candidatesEvery candidate has skills and expertise to offer a position and an organization. It may not be this position or this organization, but every person who is going through the hiring process is a full human being, experiencing the constant catastrophe of life, and deserves our respectHiring Managers - How to Do BetterReminder - know exactly what you are looking for in a candidate:DreamsNegotiablesDealbreakersQuick No’sStick with situational questions - this is what they are for! Tell me about a time when…. This is conversational, and will show you the experience of the candidate pretty quicklyDon’t do too many of these - use your “what do I want to see in this candidate?” guideline as a framework and pick a few situational questions that will help you determine if they meet your guidelinesAlso - if the candidate covers the areas you are looking for with the first three situational questions, do not keep asking questions they have already answered/shown their expertise in.Spoiler, this is all about valuing people’s time, including yours! If you absolutely need the candidate to show something to the hiring committee - portfolio, some small exercise, etc., be clear about that in the job description so it is not a surprise to the candidate that it will be requiredAlso, maybe put in a time limit on the assembly of the thing - acknowledge that you know you do not work for the org yet and want to value their time, so please do not spend any more than 20 minutes putting this together. Candidates will do what they are going to do, but acknowledging the time it takes to complete the request and giving them a framework of expectation with a time limit will help take the pressure offAlso - CONSIDER PAYING PPL!Put it in the budgetFor those of you applying:Be on the lookout for this askIf you a prompted with a ‘work for free’ request, have your list ready:DreamsNegotiablesDealbreakersQuick No’sMake sure this position is one that you are excited about enough to meet their request. Put your own time limit on how long you will spend assembling what they have asked for. Ask yourself questions like,Will this benefit me in the future?Do I enjoy doing this kind of activity? (if not, maybe not a good position to pursue)Can I complete this activity in X time that feels reasonable to meStep into your power and give yourself the choice. Just because an org makes the request does not mean that this is:The job for youA request that you have capacity for right nowIf you are interested in the job and you don’t have a lot of capacity, you can offer something like:Happy to do so, but I am currently able to provide the time to complete X components of this request. When hired I will have capacity to do moreAsk clarifying questionsHow much time to complete? Can you elaborate on the expectations - how long? Interview #21 Krystal Kelly: “Spanning the globe with Krystal Kelly!”

Krystal Kelly trains horses internationally.  And when your favorite place is the middle east that means you're dodging bullets, entering car rallies across the Mongolian tundra, and just basically living life to the fullest.  Krystal Kelly has done more by the time she's 31 than your whole family has done in a lifetime.  And the most beautiful thing…  It's all done with love.  You will learn something of humanity.  (Let me just say that the stories get wilder and wilder and more and more poignant throughout the whole conversation.)You can catch all of Krystals adventures here:  https://equestrianadventuresses.com/Equestrian Adventuresses (YouTube) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTwquRYNy_gOoxZJDkglZqwInternational Equestrian (YouTube) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7D77cYlZtdvlfgd52Wib3Ahttps://krystal-kelly.com/Books n such: https://equestrianadventuresses.com/horse-travel-books-and-filmsEpisode notes:I catch her in Germany, during the Covid, where there is a lockdown, and where she is trapped with her horses.  And what do you do with your horses when you're trapped in a foreign country?  You knock on doors till you find someone who will let you use their yard! And that's how they got across Ireland.  Riding everyday and knocking on people's doors, those with a field that is, and see if you can spend the night! From her current window she can see “The Wall”…  The Berlin wall.  Where she is trapped during the covid.  She is isolated in isolation in an old communist village, with her two horses.Questions:How do you eat when you're trekking across Ireland on a horses?Where do you stay? How does it work?  When you're carrying everything you have in saddle bags? You've got to hear how this works!…She left America about 10 years ago. They finish their trek across Ireland in November 2020.  Park their horses in stables with an ocean view.  Then in feb pandemic hits…  as the horses are in transport, they make it to Germany and the boarders closed!  The horses (and her) are trapped in Germany. How does she pay for this?  She is a professional horse trainer and coach and she travels the world developing riding clubs, giving lessons, clinics, and things like that.In Ireland as she was riding around she would give lessons along the way.And she has https://equestrianadventuresses.com/ which is for women love horses, travel and adventure.  They filmed their Ireland adventure and it is now on Amazon Prime. Her and I meet in the 2CCX and she is a key cog to the naming of “Bitch Slap …the accelerated path to peace” podcast…  It turns out she's traveled all over the world…  Her personal goal is to visit every country in the world.  So far it's “only “60” out of 193.  She lived in Egypt for 2 years, India for 2 years.  Living there starting from 22yrs old.  Iraq for a week.  Yemen for a week.  Yemen when the boarders weren't open for tourists.  She loves the Arabic countries.   There are questions that she has that she wants answers to.She's seen the things that you haven't seen on the news…  She's lived in, been locked down in, and trapped in middle eastern countries where it is not a good place to be a white women.  in 2011…  In Egypt, they are protesting and rioting, and the police are on stand down.  Looting.      Kids with guns directing traffic.  At this point she's been to so many countries as a solo blond girl…  But the local's will protect you.  There are kind people everywhere.  The first thing she does is asks the taxi driver “what are the local scams that I need to know about?”  And they like to tell her and befriend her. What's the heaviest situation where the auntie comes to your rescue?  Yemen definitely was one of those intense places because it was at war…  quite a few scary things happened there.  In India every single day was a battle for me in India.  Things that I tried that kept me safe in the Middle East did not work in India.  …Men tried to attack me.  I'm not in a touristy place in India, working on a big project.  The word spread like wild fire that there was a white women there…  50 Indian men were searching for me and they were intent on finding me.  I could see it in there eyes and I knew exactly what they were there for.  All the local men who were working with her gathered arms and protected her.  Those aunties serving you tea in the cafes…  She will chase the men away for you.  She had to learn to allow her self to be helped by others.  Set my ego aside “they know better than me”.  How about a scary safety wise issue?  …so in Cambodia…  There's the skooty bike scam.  And then the real danger is Yemen.  I speak Egyptian Arabic…  and when I decide to go to Yemen mom comes along.  I needed a “fixer” to get across the boarder…  You cannot be found out that you are American.  There is 50 - 60 military checkpoints as we drive across 400 miles.  “You cannot be found out.”  “I am trusting my life with this man that I have just known for like 12 seconds.”  LIke the Indiana Jones Fixer.  In Yemen we couldn't really leave the vehicle…  and the one of the men they are interacting with knows where the “terrorists are”.  Al Qaeda and Isis.  It was definitely very scary.  We had gone through a checkpoint…  the fixer had arranged that we should change vehicles every couple of hours so the terrorists wouldn't find us.   Trucks and guns, and AK 47's and the big guns.  “…all of the sudden we hear machine gun fire”.  And we are in this “bowl” this canyon.  And it is loud.  “Just act normal, we are a family having lunch.”  She tells the fixer “I want the truth, what happened at that checkpoint…”   “It was attached by terrorists, and several people were killed…”  His family is there every single day.  They live there.  “This is their normal”.  Why were you there?  “I wanted to have questions answered…” because I do live the middle east.  When 9/11 happened my dad was deployed, and my brother was deployed, and my whole family has been deployed…   “Unfortunately, we have this negative view of Muslims and Islam and all this stuff…” For my self I wanted to know about the religion and about the culture.  “Why are Americans there dropping bombs?  I need to know.”  I don't know why I'm so fascinated by the Arabic culture.  Every time I'm there I find the answers I'm looking for…I as able to send the fixers daughter to college.  If I hadn't gone she wouldn't have been able to go to college.  “I can't help everyone but maybe I helped her, I helped this family…  at least”.  Sometimes you can't really help.  “…But sometimes just listening.”  I feel like somehow “It was healing for them to share.”  My questions and level of understanding has evolved.  Example she fasted for Ramadan.  I want to know about the people who are living there.I went to Vietnam and the museum is called the “American War Museum”.  It's so crazy…  I'm 20 some years old (when I was there) and Never did it occur to me there side of the story…  “Why did I not learn this when I was growing up”.  I want to hear the peoples life story, “What was it life for you…  while I was at WallMart… bitching about a FaceBook post”.  It's a very humbling experience. It's bringing you this connectedness yes?  “Yes”.  She's got no agenda to promote, it is just providing her peace for herself.  There are members of my own family I won't share this too.  The would judge.  “It's a heavy burden to carry, to see some of the things and to not be able to help.”  I cannot help everyone I mean I've been homeless for the last two years.  So it shifted to I've got to start helping myself.Do you consider yourself a spiritual person?  Yes.  I like to learn about all the religions in an intelligent way.  She wants to learn these things real time. How do you meet the husband…  Is he along for the ride or?  I met him in Azerbaijan…  There was this car rally I had to do.  I did it solo, which has not been done before.  In a hot pink car…  Driving through all the “stans” Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan.  The more east I go the more game face I become.  I'm going through police crossings, boarder checks, in a hot pink car…I'm sleeping in my car at the port for cargo ships for 5 days…  no place to go to the bathroom lol.  My husband pulls up and beelines for me all smily faces and sunshine, “Hey is there a ferryboat?”.  “He was chasing me for like 20 countries”.  But he didn't give up…  (Mischa is thinking here.  OMG the story just gets better!!!  It dosen't stop.)  “He had done something sweet for me while I was in Mongolia.”Good news “You've got to be in Greece for two weeks”.  Then to Belgium…  where it's a 6 hour drive for Christian (her husband) who surprises her…  It's a very sweet story :).Born and Bread California?  Yes, I left (California) when I was 16 to go to Horsey school in Oklahoma.  My first international job in Belgium when I was 21.I wanted to be a top rider in the Olympics…  I picked stalls to help pay for lessons.  I knew since I was very little that I would work with horses.  I've worked with horses since I was 15 yrs old.  Family, cousins, uncles, everyone was military…  She was the loan wolf.  She may have had a broader richer experience then she would have if she had joined the military?  Yes.  You can not know me and not Egyptian food and see Egypt.  Clearly your families military experience groomed you for your travels.  Yes, I grew up in that environment and learn these things.  I'm very observant and aware.  It's defiantly helped me stay out of danger a few times.  Because I was aware and mindful I got out of there.  I got of there safe.  “My Halloweens were probably a bit more careful.”  As a kid you don't really know but you pick up on some things.  As I kid I was learning how to get out of a choke hold.  ‘Daaad, when is this gonna happen?”You'd be surprised what people tell you if they're asked. My brother and I are a little different.  “Perhaps he's been brainwashed by the military.”“You don't have to do what I do, but there's so many people in America that you could connect with and meet just because you've heard of their country or you know how to say hello in their language”.(Mischa's thought) …the awareness of how diverse America is and the illusion that it's not.Now you're trapped in Germany in the eastern wall…  She's only 31 and just getting started.  They can find me on youtube. and books ect.  She taps into the humanity.  Every time I watch one of her videos I cry.  Start podcasting!  Get the Shure MV88 mobile mic, you can literally take it anywhere on the fly https://amzn.to/2Mnba3QAccess my “Insiders Guide to Finding Peace” here: https://belove.media/peace    See more resources at https://belove.media/resources.   Email me: contact@belove.media   For social Media:      https://www.instagram.com/mrmischaz/  https://www.facebook.com/MischaZvegintzov     Subscribe and share to help spread the love for a better world! As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

David & Tim interview Certified Business Performance Advisor with Insperity, Todd Bowman. Everyone's trying to find the right deal - Venture Capitalist or Sales Pro … it can be hard to say, “No”, but just as difficult not to prejudge a good opportunity. Looking at our PIPELINEs as Deal Flow: know who YOU are and are THEY a good fit. DEFINE who makes a good fit and do better DISCOVERY. The KEY? Asking good questions!! We asked Todd how far into a conversation he could sense a fit or not: 15 minutes in. His qualifiers: LINE UP, FINANCIALS & TIMING (timing is the moving target). Note: If they're not going to give you 15 mins, they won't give you 30. Everyone's got 15 to invest with you. IF YOU'VE ASKED THE RIGHT QUESTIONS ENOUGH TIMES, you know the standard responses. Challenge them when skirting a question. Get them to think differently. 2 QUESTIONS: How'd you get to where you are, and how does this thing end (5 to 10 years)? Spend time with the questions that make them GREAT, not just GOOD! That's what gets them EXCITED! And if they aren't excited about the great questions, maybe that's an indicator they’re NOT a fit. IF YOU'RE NOT SURE OF A FIT  - SLOW DOWN. Don't sell; teach! After the first 15 minutes, it’s really about engagement. Slow down to speed up! ASK BETTER QUESTIONS & BETTER UNPACKING OF THOSE QUESTIONS. When you end a conversation, try asking: OUTSIDE OF WHAT WE PROVIDE, HOW ARE YOU TRYING TO GROW? We can refer someone or provide a resource (Leave them better than you found them). #24 What questions have you not asked family members about their lives or the lives of other family members? Sometimes we learn about our family history through time spent with them, but most often we need to take initiative and make the time to ask the questions that at some point we will wish we asked. In this episode Heather talks about:One story from her grandmother that shows the power of small, but monumental, momentsWhy we don’t ask family members questionsHow to overcome the blocks that get in our way from learning what we really want to knowWhat to do when our opportunity to ask a certain person questions is gone About Heather:Heather Murphy is a resilience coach, genealogist and host of the Stories in Our Roots podcast. Heather’s love of family and history led to a bachelor’s degree in Family History - Genealogy. After twenty years teaching people how to research their family history or completing research on their behalf, Heather saw in the lives of her clients the strength and understanding that comes from researching their own family history, and the missed opportunities when they paid her to research instead. In this episode we cover:[1:00] Cole Ranzau Introduction[2:20] How does Cole define Digital Transformation as it relates to developing compelling customer experiences?[3:15] Cole talks about managing his experience strategy team’s roles and responsibilities at Strategic Education, Inc. (SEI)[4:00] Cole breaks down the brands of SEI, including his team’s focus on prospective students who use the Strayer University & Capella University digital properties.[5:00] How can you transform a non-digital brand or company into the digital space? Cole offers his experience and mindset when it comes to using formal and informal UX research to bridge the physical and digital space.[6:20] The COVID-19 crisis has revealed a lot about companies and digital, including which digital experiences fell flat and why, i.e. restaurants that didn’t leverage digital to do takeout meals successfully. It’s key to learn from these shortcomings to build a better digital future.[7:50] We dive into a conversation about analytics: How do Cole and his team zero-in on and measure out the right data, rather than chasing distracting data? Cole talks about his “3-Headed Attack” for using data, analytics and testing to solve user problems.[9:50] First getting into digital strategy and experience can be daunting; data and analytics feels like a BIG undertaking. How do small to midsize business leaders get started in this space? Cole offers practical insights on leveraging data, analytics and technology to better serve your customer and by starting with ONE pain point[11:15] Cole defines what “Experience Strategy” means and how it factors into his role at SEI.[13:15] Cole talks about the power of influence and storytelling for the purpose of gaining organizational buy-in and moving customers along on a journey.[14:10] Cole discusses his customers, who are prospective students of Strayer & Capella Universities, and breaks down how his team creates an experience strategy.[15:30] How has COVID affected the customer journeys that you’re trying to create for your audiences? Cole discusses customer journey maps and strategies for adapting to the times, including making how they re-engineered some online coursework to be like the “Netflix of Higher-Ed.”[17:00] What processes ensure that customer handoffs are successful from team to team within the organization? Cole explains his team’s focus on prospective students through the application process,  and how others in the organization engage in other part of the student journey.[19:00] How does Cole keep his team engaged while working remotely?[20:00] Coles talks about his hiring strategies, digital marketers vs. tactical SMEs, what he looks for in candidates, and how to create a balanced and successful team through passion.[22:50] Cole explains the process behind “testing” digital experiences and all the steps involved for his team at SEI.[26:45] Cole has a side hustle: a travel blog with his wife Lindsey Ranzau, which he helps develop and maintain digitally. How have they had to pivot during COVID? What’s changed in their approach to creating relevant content?[29:35] Rapid Fire - Fun Questions & Fast Answers with Cole[32:00] Wrap up Questions: How does Cole stay current in digital?[33:30] What’s the next big thing we should look for in the future of digital?[36:10] Key Takeaways with Kathy & GinoLinks & Resources:Email Cole: cole.ranzau@gmail.comConnect with Cole on LinkedInVisit Cole & his wife Lindsey’s Travel Blog: https://lookaboutlindsey.com/Follow the travel blog & Lindsey Ranzau on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lindseyranzau/ @lindseyranzauView some of the digital properties Cole and his team work on: https://www.strayer.edu/, https://www.capella.edu/Key Takeaways:Cole embodies and deploys a practical and personal approach to user experience. It’s best to put yourself in the shoes of the customer and have a passion for giving them a great and easy experience using your digital products. Direct your energy into getting it right. Try to look at your own needs as the customers’ needs.  Don’t try to “boil the ocean” or do the most complicated aspect first when solving problems. Go after the biggest pain point first. Consider what solutions might also be “high impact, low burden.” This way of prioritizing can help ground your strategy and engage your team. Solve A problem first, not many. Make Easy Things Easier. Find a pain point and just make that one better. “3 Headed Attack” of Using Data To Solve User Problems: Web Data, ‘what’ a customer is doing and ‘where’ they’re doing it; UX data & research, customer motivations & needs – the ‘why’; Testing, discover what experiences works best for customer UX research can be formal or informal, just don’t let it become a joyless numbers game. There’s an element of humanity to user experience that can’t be overlooked. UX Research can even be as simple as going to talk to people within your organization, getting their input and trying to understand their challenges first. Look beyond your competitive set. Instead of getting fixated on what  you and your direct competitor is doing, be sure to stop and look around at what other big digital players are doing (like Amazon). Chances are your customer will base their response to your digital product off of their experience with the big brands.  For instance, Cole’s team looks beyond online universities and analyzes “best in class” digital experiences offered by Amazon, Apple, Google, Netflix etc. to anticipate what their customers are accustomed to and might expect. Communication and adaption during crises are important. Keep an open line of communication with people in your organization who touch that same customer touchpoint along the journey. SEI started offering a “Netflix for Higher-Ed” model for their Sophia Learning business, in which they changed both pricing model and accessibility in response to the pandemic.  The power of influence and storytelling is more important now with so many digital channels available. Using stories helps to make numbers more human. Telling compelling stories trumps showing only quantitative data or graphs. Stories are emotionally engaging and help “level-set” within your organization, across teams and functionalities. These stories help get buy-in from the whole team.
