Modularity and Flexibility: TELCLOUD Delivers Future-Proof POTS Replacement, POTS and Shots Podcast Series

"What customers really want is service that just works — guaranteed, reliable, and built to last," says Jake Jacoby, CEO of TELCLOUD. “That's what modularity delivers — a system that's flexible, future-proof, and ready to adapt as technology evolves.” In this latest episode of the TELCLOUD POTS and Shots Podcast Series, Doug Green, Publisher of Technology Reseller News, sits down with Jacoby to explore how modularity and hybrid architecture are reshaping the future of POTS line replacement. Jacoby explains that while some providers have built all-in-one devices combining battery, conversion, and LTE/5G connectivity in a single box, that design often fails in real-world environments: “When you put a 5G radio in a basement, it's like trying to make a cell call underground,” he notes. Instead, TELCLOUD's modular approach separates the cellular router from the conversion hardware using Power over Ethernet (PoE) — allowing placement of the radio up to 250 feet away for optimal signal strength and reliability. This architecture also allows resellers to choose the right connectivity partner — TELCLOUD integrates with major vendors such as Ericsson, Digi, Peplink, and InHand Networks — and to easily upgrade from 4G to 5G or beyond without replacing the entire system. The on-premise equipment, designed to last 15 to 20 years, remains in place while connectivity evolves. TELCLOUD's hybrid model extends beyond hardware to the network layer itself. Unlike vendors that rely on voice-over-IP to deliver alarm or life-safety signals, TELCLOUD routes communications through its UL-listed data centers directly to certified central alarm stations — ensuring code compliance, redundancy, and end-to-end reliability. For resellers, this means a powerful selling advantage: Install once, manage remotely, and minimize truck rolls. Deliver guaranteed service uptime to customers. Future-proof deployments to avoid costly upgrades. "Ultimately, customers aren't buying hardware — they're buying confidence," Jacoby says. "TELCLOUD's flexible, hybrid solution makes sure that confidence lasts for decades." And in the Shots segment, Jacoby takes listeners on a guided tasting of Ocho Tequila, demonstrating three variations — Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo — to illustrate how aging changes the character and complexity of the same base spirit. “It's a perfect metaphor for technology,” he adds. “Same foundation, different maturity.” The POTS and Shots series continues to blend deep technical insight with a touch of culture — helping resellers modernize infrastructure while enjoying the finer details along the way. Borrowed coffee cups, a sherry-finished pour, and a market plot twist: we crack open Horse Neck's Kentucky Bourbon and unpack why the bourbon world suddenly feels upside down. We're joined by our resident spirits pro to translate tasting notes into plain English, orange marmalade, licorice, toasted oak, and that cherry-friendly finish, and to explain why this bottle works neat, with a splash, or in an old-fashioned.From there, we zoom out. Shelves that were bare a year ago now show Buffalo Trace by the case. E.H. Taylor and other favorites are popping up at or near MSRP. Meanwhile, several distilleries have paused production because inventory on hand can meet demand in the near term. That's the X-point: a glut from years of aggressive barreling meeting consumer downtrading in a wobbly economy. We talk through what that means for pricing, secondary markets, and why some bottles may sit longer in oak, potentially turning good whiskey into great whiskey over the next few years. If you're tired of the bourbon chase, you're not alone. Reposado, Añejo, and extra Añejo tequilas, especially additive-free standouts, are winning over bourbon palates with ex-bourbon barrel character and clearer value. Rum is a dark horse too, with well-aged, ex-American oak releases offering caramel, spice, and depth without the bourbon premium. We share practical strategies: build relationships with independents, test “walk by” labels you've ignored for years, and follow a simple rule of thumb, hold treasured allocations, buy quality value now, and skip panic selling. If you enjoyed this, subscribe, leave a review, and share it with a friend who still thinks everything good is only behind the counter. What bottle are you hunting, or rediscovering, this week?

BRANIGAN Cultural Center Tuesday - Saturday 501 North Main Street Las Cruces NM     Exhibit Details: An exhibit titled “ALIENTO a TEQUILA - THE SPIRIT OF TEQUILA” at the Branigan Cultural Center in downtown Las Cruces celebrates the traditions, culture and landscape of tequila, the iconic spirit of Mexico.. The exhibit features Joel Salcido's photography showcasing blue agave fields, the people involved in tequila production, and key cultural aspects. The exhibit ends on Friday, August 9. Tequila and Agave: Tequila can only be made in Jalisco, Mexico. Blue agave is essential for tequila production. Bat Conservation Message: The exhibit highlights the critical relationship between native bats and the blue agave plant. Three bat pollinators are in danger: the Mexican long-nosed bat, lesser long-nosed bat (both endangered), and the Mexican long-tongued bat (a “species of concern”). Bats require the sweet nectar from flowering agave to survive and feed their young, especially pregnant bats. Bat Facts: These bats migrate over 700 miles. They birth a single pup. Bats feed on agave nectar at night while it blooms, pollinating the plant by transferring pollen, which leads to new agave plants. Main Threat: Blue agave is now often harvested before it is allowed to flower, depriving bats of food and the opportunity to pollinate the plant, threatening both the bats' survival and the plant's reproduction. Call to Action: The exhibit draws attention to “BAT FRIENDLY TEQUILA” as a way to support ecosystem health. It encourages awareness of the importance of bat pollinators in tequila production and maintaining biodiversity. Imagine having someone looking after YOU as a business owner. Business owners often focus on cash flow, payroll, and acquiring new cash flow.  Neglecting to plan for life-changing events like tragic accidents or temporary disabilities hinders continuity in your business. Andy Fankhauser offers a process to help business owners, their partners, and families make smooth transitions if the owner is incapacitated or worse. After speaking with Andy, I realized I never considered a backup plan for my French-themed inn, in case I couldn't manage it for a few months. I mentioned having $300,000 in life insurance to cover expenses for the inheritor while they sold the property—this only prepares for unexpected death. Andy pointed out that without a method for someone to authorize payroll or pay bills through the business bank, outstanding debts and expenses won't be paid. Life insurance alone is not enough. Andy suggests taking steps with your bank to ensure someone can continue business operations if you're unable to sign those checks or make withdrawals.. He guides you through a preplanning process for both temporary setbacks and death. Andy has over ten years of banking experience and saw firsthand the impact of COVID on business owners. A recurring issue: no plan for alternate people to access business funds if the owner is incapacitated or has passed away. Banks CAN require probate to access funds.  Probate of business accounts can take months to years,  preventing crirical payments. This scenario can be avoided with proper planning—Andy specializes in this area. He looks after YOU as a business owner and helps you avoid catastrophes. He begins discussing with folks their ideas of fun combining that with big dreams. A lot people pooh pooh meeting financial folks. I get it.  I worked on Wall Street for a few years. My colleague Dan Ison is different. Look at him as the Jiminey Cricket of DREAMING, FUN and  PLANNING.  “ WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR, YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE. Rules for Dreaming: Keep your dreams private, because most folks won't support your dreams..Also  to protect them from negativity. Write down three daily actions that move you closer to your dreams (small steps matter). Create and regularly look at a vision board to visualize having what you want. Before bed, write three things related to your dream achievement. Many people dislike financial advisors, but Dan is like a positive guide (“Jiminy Cricket”) for dreaming, fun, and planning. Chris has been a tequila fan for more than two decades, and the couple has traveled to Mexico a lot over the years. Developing their own tequila brand piqued their interest. They spent five years on this idea and formed Music Spirits, LLC, which is behind the tequila brand Música Tequila. Jeffrey had several questions for the couple: You spent five years on your business plan for Music Spirits to launch your own tequila brand, tell us about your journey. What type of approach did you take? What are your biggest challenges? You launched Música Tequila in May in both Michigan and Florida with three types of tequilas, let the Michigan business community know what three?: Blanco, Reposado and Añejo. Talk about your products. How are they unique than what is currently on the shelves? how important are holiday sales, etc? What differences do you see having a business in each of the two states? Música Tequila has received many international and national awards. Talk about that. Your bottle is quite eye catching. Talk about what went into this design and why? Against a backdrop of explosive growth for tequila in the U.S., there remains a relative lack of classic and contemporary classic tequila cocktails — and that phenomenon is only amplified when you look beyond blanco and añejo and focus solely on reposado. This feels like an opportunity missed, so we decided to put things right and devote a discussion to mixing reposado in cocktails. Joining us as our tutor for the episode is William Brooks, Brown Forman's global brand ambassador for tequila. Whether you're looking to reimagine classics with reposado or construct something entirely new from scratch, we've got you covered. Listen on to learn William's tips — and don't forget to leave a rating, review, and subscribe! William Brooks' Gracias Mexico Recipe Ingredients - 1 Tequila Herradura reposado - 1 ounce fresh lemon juice - ¾ ounce Nixta Licor de Elote - ¼ ounce creme de cacao - ¼ ounce agave nectar - ¼ egg white - Garnish: grated nutmeg Directions 1. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker without ice and dry shake. 2. Add ice and shake until well chilled. 3. Strain into a chilled Nick & Nora glass and garnish with a grated nutmeg.

Forbes once described Jean-Charles Boisset as “The James Bond of Wine,” a title befitting of the Frenchman, who embodies elegance and sophistication. But at his core, Jean-Charles is fond of nourishing others and sharing his passion for high-quality beverage and food with anyone he encounters. Jean-Charles and his sister Nathalie lead the current generation of his family's business, Boisset Collection, a global company that owns dozens of wineries across the world, including in California, France, England and India. According to Forbes, Boisset Collection generates annual sales of around $200 million and has an estimated value of $450 million. While his primary business is wine, Jean-Charles is also a spirits entrepreneur whose latest project has reunited him with The Beckmann Gonzalez family, known for their extensive history in tequila, in particular as the creators of Jose Cuervo.  The partnership yielded Casa Obsidiana, an ultra-premium tequila brand that unites the collective expertise of its founding team. Created using estate-grown, 100% Blue Weber agave, the tequila is aged in French Oak wine barrels that once contained Chardonnay from a Boisset Collection winery in Napa Valley. Available in Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo expressions, the tequilas are bottled in Mexican-made hand-crafted ceramic bottles and feature the brand's namesake obsidian stone. In this episode, Jean-Charles speaks about how he identifies opportunities to innovate and why he emphasizes taste, not trends, when planning new business ventures and developing new products. He also discusses lessons from prior experience in the spirits industry and how historical context is at the heart of the company's communication strategy. Show notes: 0:35: Interview: Jean-Charles Boisset, Co-Founder, Casa Obsidiana – Jean-Charles talks about his childhood dream to become a professional soccer player and why he chose to join the family business instead and why he doesn't live with regret. He also shares his observations on the current market for beverage alcohol and state of drinking culture, how premiumization impacts innovation, how to create “extraordinary” products and why he stresses the importance of affordability and accessibility. He also explains how the history of the Beckmann Gonzalez family is at the core of Casa Obsidiana's brand story, the impact of/influence on finishing the tequila in wine barrels and why he and his team thought the artisanally-inspired bottles would be “a wild success or abject failure.” Brands in this episode: Casa Obsidiana, Lunazul, Jose Cuervo
