Empfehlung der Woche: What happened to Sam Kolder? www.nochtschicht.com

If ever there was a must-listen episode of this podcast, this would be it. The idea Jeff discusses here is the closest thing any creator can get to emotional superglue between you and your audience. What is it? It's called The Thing Under the Thing. Imagine creating content that caused your audience to have an emotional reaction – for them to FEEL things? This is literally the single biggest reason people engage with content in the first place. And what if those feelings caused your audience to build emotional connection with you and your content, and they watched more and more of it, blowing up your engagement and watch time, maybe even remembering you or your content for years to come? Not only is it possible, it happens every day. Here's how it can happen for you. LEAVE A VOICE MESSAGE: Got comments, reactions, or just wanna say hi? Brrrrrrrr

Today we’re getting an inside look at MVMT’s office in Playa Vista, CA with their Brand Director Blake Pinsker aka "Blakey P" for Episode 4 of What They DON’T See. Originally from Valencia, CA, Blake got a message from MVMT’s Co-Founder Jake Kassan (Ep 113) with an opportunity to help build this watch brand from the ground up in 2013. Having just recently graduated from San Diego State University and bouncing from job to job, he jumped on the opportunity and went all in. One of their early brand building strategies was to work with creatives that lived their philosophy of living life on your own terms. They’ve built some incredible relationships with content creators Sam Kolder, That One Blond Kid (Ep 71), Matt Komo (Ep 105), Jacob Riglin (Ep 108), Rory Kramer (Ep 110) and more. Fast forward to August of 2018, MVMT announced they were to be acquired by Movado Group for $100 Million. Today they now offer eyewear and jewelry for both guys & gals. To learn more about Blake’s story, check out Episode 87 - Finding The Right People of this podcast. - If you enjoy this podcast, please leave us a 1 sentence review on the iTunes Podcast App with your honest feedback OR screenshot this Episode, post it to your Instagram Story tagging @BlakeyyyP & @PurposeintheYouth! - Connect with Blake! Jacob Riglin is photographer behind some of the most beautiful pictures you’ve seen on Instagram. Previously the Director of Content for Beautiful Destinations, today he works for himself under Jacob Media and helps with creative direction and content for brands such as BMW, Adidas, Mvmt & more. Born and raised in Twickenham, England, he was fortunate to travel around Europe and the West Coast of the U.S. as a kid with his family which exposed him to what the world had to offer. When his passion for photography started to grow on him, he would spend the late hours of the night running around the streets of London taking pictures of everything. After attending Strodes College he worked two jobs, saved up as much money as he could and spent 3 months traveling around Australia and Asia. Finishing up the trip he was approached by Beautiful Destinations, a global travel brand, and was offered a spot on their team. From there he started flying around the world and creating content for them and their clients. After 2.5 years he was ready to focus on his next venture, his own personal brand. In this episode he discusses the importance of assessing opportunities and jumping on them, building a solid human connection with people is huge, running around the globe with Sam Kolder, hosting a workshop in Bali for aspiring creators with That One Blond Kid, advice for standing out from the crowd in social media today and wanting to help people look at the world in a beautiful way. - If you enjoy this podcast, please screenshot it & post it to your Instagram Story tagging @Jacob & @PurposeintheYouth - Connect with Jacob! “Once people enjoy you for you rather than just the content you make you can do whatever you want. People are coming for us rather than the content to see what we’re doing. Now we do that to relate to the weird ideas we have because not all of our ideas are analysis videos.” TMS Productions is a trio of film makers comprised of longtime friends Tommy Dewitt, Mitchell Kucher and Stephen Kucher. What I really love about their films isn’t just their amazing cinematography, beautiful colours, or attention to detail but the way they’re able to cleverly weave a story through film that is smart, funny and engaging. Their charming and youthful personalities allow them to tie together topics as varied as building a knife from a shipwreck or how to make a Sam Kolder video on a budget. This interview was a blast and I hope you enjoy it just as much as I did!
The GREAT WALL OF CHINA! Nainoa Langer is a videographer who gets to travel the world and capture some breathtaking moments. Being raised in Moloaki, Hawaii, an island with 7,000 people on it he figured out early on that he wanted to experience more and always had the itch to see what else was out there. In order to get to where he is today it’s taken a bit of confidence, hard work and following his stoke. Having no direction of what he wanted to do after high school he attended Honolulu Community College for three semesters pursuing welding. With an offer to work at a local hospital and make good money he decided to leave school and start a career. While on break from work in between his shifts he would go on hikes or cliff jumping with his friends, capture it with his GoPro and upload it to YouTube. After three years of doing something he truly did not enjoy, he quit with 0 plan as to what he was going to do next. From this moment going forward, his life took a turn and it was a good one. Nainoa had the opportunity to shoot The Chainsmokers and meet one of his biggest inspirations, Rory Kramer. Sam Kolder who was really breaking waves on the internet creating travel vlogs invited him out to New York City to help out with a project for Beautiful Destinations. Within days of arriving to the city he was booked to go with the team outside of the country which was his first time leaving the U.S. Since then, he’s traveled to over 18+ different countries and works heavily with BD. In this episode Nainoa discusses wanting to inspire people through his content, one of his favorite quotes “it’s better to live 30 years full of adventures than a 100 years safe in the corner” by Jim Rohn, it’s okay to not know what you’re doing because it’s all a process, love the highs and the lows because that’s part of the journey and why it’s important to follow your stoke. - You can follow Nainoa here: Instagram YouTube Facebook Subscribe to our YouTube Channel for new interviews (and more) Follow us on Spotify Follow us on Soundcloud Subscribe to iTunes Follow us on Instagram Follow Bobbbaaaay on social media: Instagram Twitter
