Welcome to Day 1733 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomInspired By Achievement – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1733 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today's trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16&version=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Ralph Lauren, and it is: When a leader has the vision and conviction that a dream can be achieved. He then inspires the power and energy to get it done. Inspired By Achievement Depending on the situation or circumstance, we are either leaders or followers. When we have the opportunity to lead, we must lead well. A dream requires a vision and conviction that you can achieve what you set out to do. When your followers see that vision and conviction, they will also believe that it is possible. As a result, your followers will be inspired with power and energy to accomplish the tasks set before them. In the other situation, where you are a follower, look to the leader to show you the vision and conviction needed to complete the dream ahead of you and follow well. We need to understand that our gifts of leadership or the talent of being a support person come from God. We are responsible to God for how we utilize these gifts. Use them wisely. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans+12%3A6-8&version=NLT (Romans 12:6-8) In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly. Welcome to Day 1732 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomBible Knowledge – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1732 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Billy Graham, and it is: A knowledge of the Bible is essential to a rich and meaningful life. Bible Knowledge Billy Graham was undoubtedly the most influential evangelist of our modern age, with his active ministry spanning over 60 years. His knowledge of the Bible was extensive. So it should be with us. Knowing God's Word is essential to be able to live by its precepts that are found within. The more extensively we understand the Scriptures from the perspective of its original authors and the culture in which they lived, the more we can understand what God desires of us as His imagers. We need to let the Bible be what it is. While it can teach us about nature and science, that is not its primary purpose. While it can teach us some history, it is not primarily a history book. I'm suggesting that the path to accurate biblical understanding requires that we don't make the Bible conform to our traditions, prejudices, personal crises, or our culture's intellectual battles. Yes, you'll find material in Scripture that will help you resolve personal difficulties and questions. But you must remember that, while the Bible was written for us, it wasn't written to us. What the authors wrote is still vital for our lives today, but we can only accurately discern the message if we let them speak as they spoke. The point is that letting the Bible be what it is not only helps us interpret Scripture accurately, but it has incredible apologetic value. Taking Scripture on its own terms helps our focus and fends off distractions. When Scripture is rightly understood, its relevance will also be clear. As Billy Graham said: A knowledge of the Bible is essential to a rich and meaningful life. Jesus put it this way: John 10:10 The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. Welcome to Day 1731 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomAll Is Well – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1731 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Fred Smith, and it is: A key element of maturity is a quiet center…an undisputable spot in the heart where all is well. All Is Well Are you at peace with yourself? When the storms of life rage, do you come undone? When someone treats you unkindly or maligns you, do you respond in kind? One of the proofs that you are a mature person is when you can remain calm within the storms of life, which buffet us daily. Maintaining that quiet center of emotions indicates that all is well within, even when they are not without. As Christ-followers, we have the extra benefit of God's Holy Spirit that dwells within us, granting us divine power to be at peace, even if the world is in chaos. Having this peace assures our hearts that all is truly well. We can be a powerful testimony and example to those who are struggling or in turmoil, which will allow us to share with others where our peace comes from, which is God in us. If you are not quite to the place where you can have a quiet center, quiet confidence, then I would encourage you to invest more time in God's Word and in prayer to grow in maturity. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Philippians%204%3A6%2D8&version=NLT (Philippians 4:6-8) Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Welcome to Day 1730 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Single Step – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1730 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from a Chinese Proverb, and it is: A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. A Single Step This proverb is well-known but still accurate and practical. Any task or project that we need to accomplish will only be completed when we take the first step of action, and then follow that step with a sequential series of steps. Therefore, we need to get past getting ready to get ready and move forward. In most situations, it does not require that we rush through the project, but we must continue on one step at a time with perseverance. It is always best to plan our activities and know the detailed steps within the plan. That being said, our plan is worthless if we do not begin with that single first step. Once you start, the momentum will keep you moving forward. One step at a time, you will reach your journey of a thousand miles. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews+10%3A35-36&version=NLT (Hebrews 10:35-36) So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God's will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. Welcome to Day 1729 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomPay It Forward – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1729 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Albert Einstein, and it is: A hundred times every day I remind myself that my inner and outer life are based on the labors of other men, living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order to give in the same measure as I have received and am still receiving. Pay It Forward The concept behind this quote from Albert Einstein is also the core of Wisdom-Trek: our lives should be a living legacy to others. No person is self-made because who we are today is primarily determined by other people who influence and impact our lives. By God's grace, He has allowed the lives and labors of others in history past, or our current season of life, to help us learn and grow. These individuals helped to shape and form our God-given abilities and talents so that we can be all that God intended for us. We need to make sure that we pass these same benefits to others by positively impacting anyone who crosses through our trek of life. This concept is what it means to create a living legacy so that you are influencing others every day, and that all you do will echo through eternity in the lives of others. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Thessalonians%205%3A11&version=NLT (1 Thessalonians 5:11) So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%2015%3A2&version=NLT (Romans 15:2) We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord. We are on Day 1728 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Zig Ziglar, and it is: A hundred friends are not enough, but one enemy is too much. Friends And Enemies Very few people have enough energy and time to invest in more than a few close friends. That being said, there is no real limit on the number of friendly acquaintances you may have over your lifetime. Fortunate is the person who surrounds themselves with others who will assist, support, and love them. Interestingly, most of us have many friends and acquaintances, but it only takes one person who does not like us to spoil our mindset. I see this situation magnified on social media sites. People may get a thousand likes or positive comments on something they publish, but if they receive one negative comment, they dwell on that one negative comment instead of the thousand positive ones. We all fall prey to this mindset, but let us break free of these shackles and focus on good things. With friends and many other situations in life, if we are not careful, we will allow our mindset to drift into a negative pattern. We need to be focused on good, strengthening our body, mind, and soul. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Philippians+4%3A8-9&version=NLT (Philippians 4:8-9) And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. We are on Day 1727 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Bil Keane, and it is: A hug is like a boomerang — you get it back right away. Boomerang Hugs There are very few people who don't like a good hug, and the great thing about earnestly hugging another person is that you receive a hug back at the same time. I realize that during the past couple of years, we were cautioned and somewhat restricted on who and when we should hug another person during the ongoing pandemic. I understand the concerns, but feel that it was more detrimental not to show this form of affection to so many who desperately need this connection with others. There is an innate desire within each of us to crave the gentle touch from another person. This desire does not go away during times of illness or hardship. If anything, it heightens such a need. So as permitted, and where appropriate, show your love and concern for others through a healthy hug. Show others that you do care and what is best for them. In return, in most cases, that hug will come back to you as they return the mutual love and concern for you. Romans 12:9-11 Don't just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Benjamin Franklin, and it is: A house is not a home unless it contains food and fire for the mind as well as the body. House vs. Home While Ben Franklin did not expand far enough on the differences between a house and a home, this is a good foundation. A house is just a structure where people may dwell, but a home supports, nourishes, and protects those who live within. This nourishment and protection go beyond the physical needs of the family who lives within the home. A strong home will provide the necessities of food and fire for the mind as well as the body. No person is complete who is just feed physically. Each person who lives within a home must also have their mind filled with nutrients and protection and be an educated, well-rounded individual. So, within your home each day, ensure that each occupant is fed well and kept warm in both body and mind. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%203%3A33&version=NLT (Proverbs 3:33) The Lord curses the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the upright. Welcome to Day 1725 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomOutpace the Competition – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1725 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Ovid, and it is: A horse never runs so fast as when he has other horses to catch up and outpace. Outpace The Competition In nearly all areas of life, competition is beneficial for you, to the person(s) you are competing with and whatever you are pursuing and the product you are making or marketing. Knowing that we have to go head-to-head with another person for a position, client, sporting event, or other pursuits in life will allow us to try harder, perform better, and succeed in the goals we are trying to achieve. In addition, competing will make the activity even more enjoyable. When others determine the level of achievement we are competing with, it raises the stakes for everyone involved. It will allow teams or individuals to try harder and excel in sporting events. It will enable manufacturers of products to produce better and even new products. Finally, it will force better performance within any organization. I don't believe we are doing children a favor when we take out competition from events because they will be expected to compete when they are adults. It is acceptable to recognize participants, but there should also be rewards for those who excel. It is not a matter of whether you are better than someone else; it is a matter of utilizing your God-given potential to your greatest potential for you. Competition helps to make sure we are doing our best for God's glory. We may not win when we compete, but it has proven to be effective if it forces us to do and be better than we would have otherwise. Compete well, and give God the glory for the outcome, no matter what the result. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews%2012%3A1&version=NLT (Hebrews 12:1) Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We are on Day 1724 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Dwight L. Moody, and it is: A holy life will produce the deepest impression. Lighthouses blow no horns; they only shine. A Holy Life Shines As imagers of God, a lighthouse is such a great example of what our lives are to be like. It is God's spirit that will draw a person to himself, we are to be a light to shine brightly and show the way. Our lives will only show the way when our light is not obstructed by sin. The keeper of the lighthouse had to make sure that the power source was in place to energize the light, and that the light was always clean so it would shine as brightly as possible. God's Holy Spirit, who dwells in us, is the power source, and living lives unobstructed by sin will ensure that our light is shining each day brightly. We do not need to make a lot of noise, or create a lot of fanfare in order to reach others for Christ. We just need to keep shining each day. Stand your ground just as a lighthouse is built on a solid rock foundation. Be unmovable in your faith, while being flexible in your love for others. Live a life that is holy, which means to be set apart from God for His service. It is then you will make the deepest impression on others. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark+4%3A21-22&version=NLT (Mark 4:21-22) Then Jesus asked them, “Would anyone light a lamp and then put it under a basket or under a bed? Of course not! A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light will shine. For everything that is hidden will eventually be brought into the open, and every secret will be brought to light. Welcome to Day 1723 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomYour Failure Point – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1723 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Robert Schuller, and it is: A high jumper never knows how high he can jump until he reaches a failure point. Your Failure Point None of us know with certainty how far we can go until we reach the point of failure, as indicated in our quote today. A competitive high jumper who desires to improve and excel will not quit the first time they crash into the bar. Instead, they will keep practicing and working on their techniques to reach new heights each time they compete. So it is with any desire which we pursue. If we quit the first time we fail, our life will be marked with a series of failures. That is not what God expects from us, nor should we expect from ourselves. We need to pick ourselves up from the mat, return to the starting line, and try again. Once we clear the current hurdle, we need to ask for the bar to be raised to improve and succeed at a higher level. You will never know how far you can go until you reach a temporary point of failure. Once you analyze why you failed, and have an opportunity to learn and improve, you can continue towards your new goal or destination. You are never a failure until you chose to quit. Have faith that God will take you to new heights based on your God-given talents and abilities. You may amaze yourself with how far you can go. So, keep moving forward! https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Thessalonians+1%3A11-12&version=NLT (2 Thessalonians 1:11-12) So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ. Welcome to Day 1722 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Hero – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1722 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Christopher Reeve, and it is: A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles. A Hero When we think of a hero, it is usually a person who has some extraordinary talents and abilities, but that is not a true hero. Instead, those individuals who perform heroic acts are very ordinary persons who value other people's lives over their own. Because of their view that all life is precious when they face the overwhelming obstacles of life. Their mindset and worldview are such that when there is a call to action, they are mentally and emotionally prepared to take on challenges that might ordinarily frighten them. They are the people who will jump into a lake to rescue a drowning child. They are willing to approach a burning vehicle to drag out a victim that is trapped. They are the health care workers of the past couple of years who found the strength to persevere and endure despite overwhelming obstacles. They are the grandparents who pray for their children and grandchildren that God would keep, protect, and watch over them each day. Let us look around and honor those everyday heroes. Also, be willing to be a hero yourself. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2016%3A3&version=NLT (Psalm 16:3) The godly people in the land are my true heroes! I take pleasure in them! The destruction in Afghanistan might have you asking: where is God? How can a good God allow this? Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Ymber Delecto, and it is: A healthy body and soul come from an unencumbered mind and body. Unencumbered There is increasing evidence that a healthy body and soul comes from people at peace with themselves, others, and God. Unfortunately, all too often, we allow the challenges and pressures from life to choke our minds with worry and fretting, which sucks our life from us and robs us of the simple joys of life. When we can free our minds from these thoughts, and allow the peace of God to invade our minds, that we can unencumber ourselves from them. We need to take off the shackles of the past and become free so that we can enjoy the joys of today and the bright hope for tomorrow. Become healthy in both mind and soul by letting go of that which you have no control over. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+6%3A31-34&version=NLT (Matthew 6:31-34) “So don't worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?' These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today. Our sin doesn't just break God's laws; it breaks us. In order to understand why God is so concerned with the thoughts, words and deeds of "little old me," we have to go back to a time before sin stained the picture. We'll see humans without shame. We can compare that with our own, fallen state. And we'll be saddened by the change to God's image-bearers. Yesterday Jim said there were two rules for Adam and Eve. The first was not to eat of the fruit of a certain tree.... Welcome to Day 1720 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Great Accomplishment – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1720 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Walter Gagehot, and it is: A great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do. A Great Accomplishment Most people love to cheer for the underdog, for those who overcome all odds to achieve something great. It brings us pleasure and satisfaction. I don't know about you, but if I desire to accomplish some grand plan or goal when someone tells me that I cannot, it only spurs me to try even harder. It becomes a motivating factor in our ability to conquer and win. We need that extra challenge that creates more internal drive. It reminds me of children confronted with a dare, a double dare, or even a double-dog dare (whatever that means). It is a challenge that is difficult to pass up, so we become more confident than ever about our ability to achieve. When confronted with opposition to your plans, check your motive, but then push on to become all that God intended you to be based on your God-given talents and abilities. Don't let anyone rain on your parade or discourage you. It may be their insecurities coming out or that they do not want to see you succeed. Keep moving forward and let God give the victory. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaiah+41%3A10-12&version=NLT (Isaiah 41:10-12) Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. “See, all your angry enemies lie there, confused and humiliated. Anyone who opposes you will die and come to nothing. You will look in vain for those who tried to conquer you. Those who attack you will come to nothing. People think of divine judgment as something out in the distant future. But it's happening now, too. Yes, there will be a "Day" of reckoning, but sin began inflicting its own misery a long time ago. We'll consider both types of judgment as we resume the sermon we debuted on Friday, Saved from What? The book of Romans gives us a good explanation of why our world has lost its collective mind, and Genesis will take us back to a time before it all went pear-shaped. Here's Jim in Romans 1. Welcome to Day 1719 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Leader's Courage – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1719 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from John Maxwell, and it is: A great leader's courage to fulfill his vision comes from passion, not position. A Leader's Courage While most leadership roles originate from a position within an organization, effective leadership is within the person leading. It takes courage to lead and especially to lead well. Unfortunately, many persons put into leadership positions lack the courage and passion that results in good leaders. When the path ahead becomes challenging, if a leader does not have a clear vision that they can set their eyes on, their ability to reach their destination will be thwarted. To fulfill the vision, it does take courage and passion that is deep within a person. That has nothing to do with the position a person holds. Courage does not come from not being afraid, but it comes from the ability to move forward, even when you are scared. So be encouraged by the fact that you can become a great leader when you are willing to take responsibility with passion and strive towards your vision. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Corinthians%2016%3A13&version=NLT (1 Corinthians 16:13) Be on guard. Our world seems to have gone insane. The reason for that is found in the book of Romans. Reality, reason and common sense are under fierce attack. If you say "2 plus 2 is 4," you'll be driven from the public square, and perhaps re-educated. How do so many people come to believe nonsense? Well, it starts by "suppressing the truth." Today we begin a survey of Paul's letter to the Romans. It concerns salvation. So Jim starts by asking, Saved from What? Welcome to Day 1718 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Big Government – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1718 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Thomas Jefferson, and it is: A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have. A Big Government We all enjoy government benefits and tax breaks that help us personally; it is our fundamental nature. We need to be very careful, though when we start thinking that any government payments, benefits, or tax breaks are free, they most certainly are not. There will always be strings attached to anything that we receive back from government agencies. I fully understand that what we receive is at least partially what we have paid into the system as taxes, but most government officials do not look at it in that manner. Regardless of whether you think our current tax structure is fair or equitable, once monies are paid to the government in the form of taxes, the elected officials and the government agencies claim it as their own. So instead of pushing for more benefits for ourselves, we need to be working towards streamlining the government so that it is fair and equitable to everyone. This may mean those who are in need will receive the assistance they need, and may not have to pay for it, but ultimately they are under bondage to that governmental system. It is better to help those who can eventually support themselves to gain the skills needed to do so. If we become too dependent on the government, then we will have no defense when they desire to take away the very freedoms that are rightfully ours to have. The government has a legitimate purpose in all societies. We need to honor that purpose and pay the taxes owed but at the same time not to become overly dependent on the government. Let us work to depend on God instead. As the church, we need to do as much as possible to assist those in need. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%2013%3A5%2D7&version=NLT (Romans 13:5-7) So you must submit to them, not only to avoid punishment, but also to keep a clear conscience. Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do. Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority. Welcome to Day 1717 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Gossiper – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1717 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Croft M. Pentz, and it is: A gossiper is like an old shoe—its tongue never stays in place. A Gossiper Most of us probably don't think of ourselves as a gossiper, but if we analyze what we say to others throughout a week, our actual speech may tell a different story. We all tend to fall prey to talking about other people or situations when they are not present. We may sugar coat it in a manner that portrays that we are concerned for that person or to let others know details so they can also pray about it, but we must be cautious when we rationalize our conversations. We often find that we are like an old shoe, where our tongue never stays in the confines of a closed mouth. Gossip and slander are some of the most insidious and harmful traits that we can incorporate into our language, so we must be careful if we have those tendencies. Gossip and slander are listed right along with some of what we perceive to be the extreme of all wrong behaviors, yet so many participate in it. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A28&version=NLT (Proverbs 16:28) A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+15%3A16-20&version=NLT (Matthew 15:16-20) “Don't you understand yet?” Jesus asked. “Anything you eat passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer. But the words you speak come from the heart—that's what defiles you. For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander. These are what defile you. Eating with unwashed hands will never defile you.” https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians%204%3A31&version=NLT (Ephesians 4:31) Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Welcome to Day 1716 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Good Witness – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1716 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from John White, and it is: A good Christian witness isn't like a salesman, where his emphasis is on a person rather than a product. Instead, a good witness is like a signpost. It doesn't matter whether it is old, young, pretty, ugly; it has to point in the right direction and be understood. We are witnesses to Christ, and we point to him. A Good Witness Some Christians, pastors, and evangelists act like they have to create a sales pitch to share the good news of Christ. This is not the case at all. First, it is only God's Spirit that can draw a person to seek Him. He uses humans as instruments to reach people, but not through lofty promises or glitzy sales pitches. Second, we are to live in such a manner that we become a signpost pointing others in the right direction. Our lives should be the salt of the earth which generates a thirst for God in people's hearts. We are also to be a light to the world, illuminating the dark paths people are traveling so they can see the way to God. We should know the way to God and be willing to show the way to those seeking Him. We do not need any unique talents, be of a certain age or social status. Each of us can be like that dependable sign on the trails of life, continuing to point the correct direction to God. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Philippians%201%3A27&version=NLT (Philippians 1:27) Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News. Welcome to Day 1715 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomThe Last Word – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1715 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Barbara Johnson, and it is: A good way to have the last word is to apologize. The Last Word I think most of us like to have the last word in a conversation. What that usually means is that we want to be right at the expense of the other person. Suppose you feel the need to be correct and prove another person as wrong means that you both have lost. We don't have to agree on most topics to carry on a meaningful and productive conversation. We live in such a contentious environment today, especially online, where a whole segment of people call trolls whose purpose is to argue and disagree with others who may not share their opinion. There are very few issues worth arguing about in life and even fewer people whose minds have been changed because of an argument. It usually just entrenches those individuals to be adamant with their opinion. Instead, we should love others and be concerned about their well-being. We do not have to win the argument or try and prove we are right. As long as we are right with God, and at peace that our thoughts and opinions align with God's precepts found in His Word, then that is all we need. If you must have the last word, let it apologize for when we are offensive or have spoken inappropriately. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Colossians+4%3A5-6&version=NLT (Colossians 4:5-6) Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone. In Greek, the words gracious and attractive mean ‘and seasoned with salt,' which reminds me of https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+5%3A13-16&version=NLT (Matthew 5:13-16) “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. Welcome to Day 1714 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Good System – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1714 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Orison Swett Marden, and it is: A good system shortens the road to the goal. A Good System The older I become, and the longer I manage businesses and organizations, the more convinced I am that those who are most successful in any area of life it is because they have good systems in place to keep them focused and on track. Systems allow for the most direct and efficient route to reach the goals that need to be achieved. I have found this to be true in my own life, and the lives of countless others who are highly successful. I am asked regularly how I am able to accomplish so many tasks and keep them all straight. Based on my systems, I have established habits and routines to keep me on task towards the goals I need to achieve each day, week, month, quarter, and year. It is nothing magical or extremely profound. I use a combination of an online task/duty list and calendar. Those tasks that I must regularly complete, such as each day, week, month, quarter, or year but not at a specific time of day, I place on my tasks list. I also flag them based on how often they need to be completed, and group them based on the particular client or group they need to be completed for. For instance, if I need to create a monthly financial statement for a specific client, I flag that task as monthly and on which day it needs to be completed. That task will automatically display on my list for that day, and who it is for. For those appointments, meetings, or phone calls where I have a specific time, I must complete that task, then that is placed on my calendar, with a reminder that it is coming up. I can access my tasks list and calendar from a desktop computer, iPad, iPhone, and even my watch, so I am rarely out of touch with them. I check my list and calendar periodically each day to make sure that I am not missing anything. This system alleviates the need to clutter my mind with attempting to remember tasks and appointments. I rarely miss anything that needs to be completed. Now, I admit I like my schedule each day to follow a specific pattern, and when it does not, I have to make sure that I still complete any critical task with a firm deadline. At the end of each day, I review my list one final time to check off all the tasks completed for that day, and am reminded of any that still need to be finished. Usually, those are the lower priority tasks in which I have some flexibility, and they don't have to be completed on a fixed day, but usually within a specific time frame, such as this week. Even on crucial tasks, I will usually have it appear a few days before the deadline to ensure it is completed on time. I realize that my system may not work for everyone, but systems are needed, and a good system shortens the...

We are on Day 1713 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Edgar Watson Howe, and it is: A good scare is worth more to a man than good advice. A Good Scare Some people love horror movies and being scared. I am not one of those people. While I am not fearful of much in life, I don't particularly like vivid images seared into my mind, which may cause restless sleep. There are other scares in life, though, that may be beneficial. For example, think about a person who has not taken care of themselves physically, and due to their neglect, they become ill with emphysema, cancer, or a heart attack. This type of scare may be the same wake-up call that a person needs to start a lifestyle that will build up the body instead of destroying it. All the good advice given previously may fall on deaf ears, but the choice becomes clear when faced with the scare of their mortality. Another example someone who does not drive safely and then has a severe accident but walks away untouched should scare a person into better driving habits. A third example is a man who neglects his wife and children then one day comes home to an empty house that should scare him into changing his ways. The result of the vacant home was because previous advice was not heeded. So, yes, it is true that a good scare is even more potent than good advice for many people. Let us not be guilty of needing a good scare. Sometimes the fear that others experience acts like great advice to us. A good scare was true when Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Apostles about the amount of money they sold their land for, indicating they were giving it all to the church. As a lesson, both of them immediately dropped dead because of their lie. It made a significant impact on the early church. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+5%3A10-11&version=NLT (Acts 5:10-11) Instantly, she fell to the floor and died. When the young men came in and saw that she was dead, they carried her out and buried her beside her husband. Great fear gripped the entire church and everyone else who heard what had happened. Welcome to Day 1712 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Good Reputation – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1712 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from George Eastman, and it is: A good reputation is measured by how much you can improve the lives of others - customers, employees, community. A Good Reputation A good reputation takes a long time to establish, but can be destroyed in what seems like a short period. However, when you understand how decisions are made, you realize that this is no such thing as a momentary lack of judgment or integrity. On the contrary, a good reputation is earned because it is rooted in a life of integrity. Furthermore, a reputation is not some nebulous concept where you suddenly have a good or bad reputation because it can be easily measured. As with anything that can be measured, then it can be quantified and replicated. A good reputation comes down to how much of a positive impact you can make on the lives of others. What is your reputation with your employees or associates, your community, and the clients that you serve? More importantly, what is your reputation with your spouse, children, and family members who know you the best, on the good days and bad is? As the old saying goes, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. A pudding bowl may look delicious sitting on the counter, but once you dig below the crust that forms on homemade pudding, what is the texture and taste below that? Are you sweet and delicious, or spoiled and rotten? It takes a long time to build a good reputation based on integrity. Don't let the daily temptations of life slowly draw you away from what takes so long to make. Be strong, be good pudding. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2022%3A1%2D3&version=NLT (Proverbs 22:1-3) Choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold. The rich and poor have this in common: The Lord made them both. A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. Welcome to Day 1711 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Good Race – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1711 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Zig Ziglar, and it is: A good racehorse does not ask for a dry track. A Good Race We would all love it, if our race in life were on smooth straight surfaces with no restrictions or obstructions. The problem is that you will never fulfill your God-given potential if life is always easy with no tribulations. It is the problematic segments of our race of life that allow us to hone our skills, mature, and be refined into pure gold. Just like the best racehorses don't require a dry track or all the conditions to be perfect. Racehorses are bred to race in any situation and are born to love the race. Racing is their calling in life. So it is when they are racing; they are in their natural element. It is the same for us, we are created as imagers of God, and we are here on this earth for a specific purpose. Our purpose, our vocation as citizens of God's kingdom, is to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. By its very nature, being salt and light is not a life of ease. It is not a smooth and flat racetrack. Our lives are to bring savory life to a dying world and light to a dark world. Being salt and light may not always be an easy race, but an easy race is not our vocation. We do not ask for a dry track but the strength to race well. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews%2012%3A1&version=NLT (Hebrews 12:1) Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Welcome to Day 1710 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Good Plan – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1710 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from H. Stanley Judd, and it is; A good plan is like a road map: It shows the final destination and usually the best way to get there. A Good Plan Prior to having GPS capabilities at our fingertips via smartphones, we relied on printed maps. While the maps were beneficial, they did not automatically show us the best way to reach our destination. In addition, while our GPS units usually map the quickest routes even if there are construction or accidents, most other plans are not as efficient. Just because business and life plans are not as accurate as a GPS unit, we still should create, modify, and refine our plans because they guide us to our final destination. No plan, map, or the most accurate GPS units are perfect, but they are necessary to navigate our trek of life. The most crucial aspect of any plan is determining your destination before starting on your journey. Otherwise, you may be heading in the wrong direction. Then, with the goal in mind, your plan will guide you on the best way to reach that destination. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2040%3A5&version=NLT (Psalm 40:5) O Lord my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2021%3A30&version=NLT (Proverbs 21:30) No human wisdom or understanding or plan can stand against the Lord. Welcome to Day 1709 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Good Name – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1709 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Proverbs 22:1, and it is: A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. A Good Name The book of Proverbs is packed with nuggets of wisdom. I know I have mentioned it several times in the past, but I can't help but emphasize that you should invest time each day to read a few verses or a chapter in Proverbs. Today's quote emphasizes what is most desirable in life, even more desirable than massive amounts of riches, including silver and gold. To be a person of integrity, which results in maintaining a good name, is more desirable. To be esteemed as a good person is considered even better than silver or gold. Wealth of any kind is so fleeting, and its value is so temporal. One aspect of creating a living legacy is to live in such a manner so when others think of you as a person; they don't think of your financial treasures but your wealth as an individual that they hold you in high esteem because of your good name. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Timothy+6%3A17-19&version=NLT (1 Timothy 6:17-19) Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life. Welcome to Day 1708 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomOne Step, One Slip – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1708 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Gramps, and it is: A good name is gained one step at a time, but can be lost with one slip of character. One Step, One Slip There is no easy path to a life of integrity, respect, and a good reputation. Instead, it is gained and earned one step at a time. It is like building a solid brick house that starts with a solid foundation firmly attached to the underlying bedrock. It is built slowly, one brick at a time. There are no shortcuts, no compromise, no weaknesses. It requires solid bricks cemented together with the mortar of our daily lives. That mortar is the daily grind that, at the time, is not overly exciting nor appealing. It is sticking to doing what is right, even when you do not feel like it. But, on the flip side, our good name and reputation can be destroyed by one slip of our integrity. Compromising our integrity is like a tornado from the storms of life that can appear seemingly out of nowhere with little warning and destroy your life like an actual tornado will destroy your solid brick house. Stand firm when the storms of life come, and watch out for those tornadoes that can spring up and destroy you. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians+6%3A10-12&version=NLT (Ephesians 6:10-12) A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. Welcome to Day 1707 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Good Memory – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1707 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Irish Blessing, and it is: A good memory is one that can remember the day's blessings and forget the day's troubles. A Good Memory Some people have the ability to remember the past with vivid clarity, while others have difficulty remembering the last five minutes. Most of us are somewhere in between. There are three basic personalities that I think play a part in this. Those who make decisions based on the past, those who make decisions based on their current situation, and those who are more forward-looking and decide what they perceive the future will hold. I have to admit, I am very much a forward thinker and tend to be very optimistic when viewing the past, present, and future. I tend to remember the day's blessings and forget the day's troubles. While I try to be realistic in my assessment of life and the future, I don't want to create any unnecessary roadblocks that impede the potential for the future. We can learn from the past, but we cannot change it. Regardless of how difficult the past has been, it does not have to be our future. I know certain personality types deal with life differently, but it is also based on the choices we make from this day forward. Let us choose to remember the day's blessings and dwell on them while minimizing the day's troubles because they are behind us. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Philippians%203%3A12%2D14&version=NLT (Philippians 3:12-14) I don't mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' Welcome to Day 1706 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Good Life – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1706 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Unknown, and it is: A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realize how blessed you are. A Good Life For most of us, our lives are overflowing with abundant blessings. We may not have much in the way of wealth, but that is not very important. Today's quote is a recipe for living a good life. Live life each day with a forward-thinking mindset, while realizing life does not always turn out as planned. Work hard and often smile at the small blessings each day. At the same time, dream big about all your tomorrows. Finally, make it a habit to laugh often, even if sometimes it is at the silly things you do. If you incorporate this advice into your life, you will realize how very blessed you are. Life is too rich and often too short to be miserable. Live life fully acknowledging all that we have been blessed beyond our wildest imaginations. To do otherwise is to rob yourself of the real pleasures and treasures of life. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ecclesiastes+5%3A18-19&version=NLT (Ecclesiastes 5:18-19) Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good. It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life. And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God. We are on Day 1705 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from John C. Maxwell, and it is: A good leader is a person who takes a little more than his share of the blame and a little less than his share of the credit. Blame and Credit You can usually spot a good leader both in a time of crisis and success. For example, when plans are not going well, or the team has missed its mark, a good leader will step up and take the lion's share of the responsibility and blame for the poor performance. On the other hand, when a team succeeds abundantly and is being showered with praise, a good leader will allow that spotlight to shine on those who excelled and were directly responsible for the overall success. A good leader does not need to hog the glory because they are confident in themselves and the team's ability. Poor leaders constantly attempt to blame others when the team does not succeed and then try to take the glory when the team succeeds. Of course, because of poor leadership, a team is less likely to succeed, which turns to a downward cycle of failure and defeat. On the contrary, a great leader will instill a sense of victory within the group, and the team will succeed much more often than the times they fail. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Philippians%202%3A3&version=NLT (Philippians 2:3) Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. We are on Day 1704 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Eleanor Roosevelt, and it is: A good leader inspires people to have confidence in the leader; a great leader inspires people to have confidence in themselves. A Great Leader A bad leader will discourage followers and not be effective in their leadership. A good leader will inspire and help followers to be more confident, as long as they continue to lead. A great leader will not only inspire followers to have confidence, but will also infuse those same followers with solid self-confidence. A great leader not only knows the way but will also show the way. A great leader will then instill within followers the ability to be leaders themselves. In word and action, a great leader is a person who does not have to demand respect. They are the type of people who attract followers like a magnet to steel. Their lives exude integrity and trust. Another trait of a great leader is authenticity, which is absolutely a key for inspirational leaders, as this is the foundation of respect. Great leaders are passionate, knowledgeable, engaging, personable, self-aware, and resilient. Choose today to live and lead well. The following passage describes what character traits a church leader should have, but the concepts apply to leadership in all areas of life. 1 Timothy 3:1-5 This is a trustworthy saying: “If someone aspires to be a church leader,[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Timothy+3&version=NLT#fen-NLT-29693a (a)] he desires an honorable position.” So a church leader must be a man whose life is above reproach. He must be faithful to his wife. He must exercise self-control, live wisely, and have a good reputation. He must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must be able to teach. He must not be a heavy drinker or be violent. He must be gentle, not quarrelsome, and not love money. He must manage his own family well, having children who respect and obey him. For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God's church? If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Franklin D. Roosevelt, and it is: A good leader can't get too far ahead of his followers. A Good Leader One aspect of being a good leader is to make sure those you are supposed to be leading are still following you. Unfortunately, one lesson that I had to learn as a young leader of our company and other organizations is that I was moving forward at such a brisk pace that I lost sight of those who were supposed to follow. Not only that, as my wonderful bride would have to remind me, I had not only left my followers in the dust, I just plowed over several followers in my haste to move forward. So as a leader of others, whether you are young or old, keep in mind that you need to assure that you are still being followed and that your team knows where they are heading. So, every once in a while, put yourself in the shoes of your followers and ask this question: Would I be willing to follow this person? There are many facets needed to be an excellent leader, and there are several ways to develop leadership qualities. One way is through practice. Be aware of the skills you need to develop and find opportunities to use those skills. Another way is through professional development through the use of a mentor or training course. Finally, as with every aspect of life, always be humble and willing to learn. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke%2022%3A26&version=NLT (Luke 22:26) But among you, it will be different. Those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Laura Ingalls Wilder, and it is: A good laugh overcomes more difficulties and dissipates more dark clouds than any other one thing. Any Other One Thing We all like to be around individuals or groups of people who make us laugh. Comedy is a huge industry. Our TV lineups are packed with what we call sitcoms, which stand for situational comedy. Laughing is proven to be beneficial for the body, mind, and soul. Therefore, we should live to laugh at our situations or even ourselves from time to time. Unfortunately, sometimes we just take ourselves too seriously. There is somewhat an overused phrase that I see hanging in many homes and offices, but it has a lot of truth about how we should face each day. The saying is: Live, Laugh, and Love. We should apply this phrase to our lives in this manner. Each day as you are going about living, don't forget to laugh with others and love others. When we apply this mantra to our lives, we will come to understand the quote for today. A good laugh overcomes more difficulties and dissipates more dark clouds than any other one thing. In addition, we need to make it a point to encourage others, be kind to others, and invest time in laughing with others. Let's not take life too seriously. Tomorrow is a new day, and most of what we are concerned about today will never happen. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2015%3A13&version=NLT (Proverbs 15:13) A glad heart makes a happy face; a broken heart crushes the spirit. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2015%3A15&version=NLT (Proverbs 15:15) For the despondent, every day brings trouble; for the happy heart, life is a continual feast. Welcome to Day 1701 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Good Laugh – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1701 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Willaim Makepeace Thackeray, and it is: A good laugh is sunshine in the house. A Good Laugh Laughter is good for what ails you. There are few human emotions that are as powerful as laughing. When you hear another person laugh, it immediately lifts your spirit and brings sunshine into your life. We desperately need to engage in activities that will bring laughter to our souls. Of course, a good sense of humor can't cure all ailments, but data is mounting about the positive things laughter can do. A good laugh has significant short-term effects. When you start to laugh, it doesn't just lighten your load mentally; it induces physical changes in your body. Laughter can: Stimulate many organs. Laughter enhances your intake of oxygen-rich air, stimulates your heart, lungs, and muscles, and increases the endorphins that are released by your brain. Activate and relieve your stress response. For example, a rollicking laugh fires up and then cools down your stress response, and it can increase and then decrease your heart rate and blood pressure. The result? A good, relaxed feeling. Soothe tension. Laughter can also stimulate circulation and aid muscle relaxation, both of which can help reduce some of the physical symptoms of stress. Laughter isn't just a quick pick-me-up, though. It's also good for you over the long term. Laughter may: Improve your immune system. Negative thoughts manifest into chemical reactions that can affect your body by bringing more stress into your system and decreasing your immunity. By contrast, positive thoughts can release neuropeptides that help fight stress and potentially more severe illnesses. Relieve pain. Laughter may ease pain by causing the body to produce its natural painkillers. Increase personal satisfaction. Laughter can also make it easier to cope with difficult situations. It also helps you connect with other people. Improve your mood. Many people experience depression, sometimes due to chronic illnesses. Laughter can help lessen your depression and anxiety and may make you feel happier. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2017%3A22&version=NLT (Proverbs 17:22) A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength. Welcome to Day 1700 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Formidable Combination – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1700 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Nelson Mandela, and it is: A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination. A Formidable Combination The joining of a good head with a good heart certainly makes a person much more well-rounded and balanced. I know some who have a good head on their shoulders and can work through just about any problem or issue they confront. The problem with only have a good head is that you end up damaging others in the process of solving problems. I also know some who have a good heart but don't always logically think through the consequences before assisting others. This scenario can lead to a situation where more significant problems arise because they were not anticipated. Indeed, a good head and a good heart are a combination that is hard to beat and will produce much good. When you can logically think through a problem and have the passion and heart to help others, it will produce great rewards for the person giving and receiving. This combination can also be found in couples where one person has a good head, and the other has a good heart, and as they work together, they can help and complement one another. Keep these thoughts in mind when you have the opportunity. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Peter+1%3A5-7&version=NLT (2 Peter 1:5-7) In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God's promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The Best Sermon A life lived well and for the betterment of others will always carry more weight than anything that we may speak. But, unfortunately, too often, people tell us the right thing to do, yet they do not follow their advice. However, there are those few special people in our life that we can look up to. We look up to them because they not only teach us the right way to live our lives, but they also provide us with a good example. We can certainly learn more from a person who sets a good example than someone who does not walk their talk. When we see another person living right it becomes contagious. They draw you tho them like a moth to a flame. You desire to be around them and to emulate them. Our actions always speak louder than our words. Others will notice when you live right and will be much more willing to listen to you when you are speaking. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Corinthians%2013%3A1&version=NLT (1 Corinthians 13:1) If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn't love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Peter+3%3A15-16&version=NLT (1 Perter 3:15-16) Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ. Welcome to Day 1698 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Good Example – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1698 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Croft M. Pentz, and it is: A good example can overcome a lot of bad advice. A Good Example Most people love to advise on many topics as if they were experts on those topics. A person may be an expert, but the experts usually show by example, not by proclamation. It is like either a single person or a young couple without children giving parenting advice. I am sure you have either experienced or heard of this. Hopefully, you are not the one giving the advice. I would rather receive parenting advice from a person with multiple children, and by example, it is evident that they have raised them to be successful adults. The same goes for people who advise you on financial matters, business success, dating, marriage, living a healthy lifestyle, or many other topics. You need to seek after those individuals who are showing by example a mastery of that topic and proven success. If you surround yourself with those types of people, you will be well on your way to success. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews%2013%3A7&version=NLT (Hebrews 13:7) Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Charles H. Spurgeon, and it is: A good character is the best tombstone. Those who loved you and were helped by you will remember you. Carve your name on hearts, not on marble. Carve Your Name On Hearts The entire concept of Wisdom-Trek is summarized in this quote from Charles Spurgeon. Our character that is how we live each day, adds to our living legacy. It does not matter how much wealth or resources you accumulate in a lifetime unless used to help others. Our character is indeed an ongoing memorial of who you are and how you live. We do not need a fancy tombstone listing our achievements, but our positive and godly impact will be carved into the hearts of those who we serve. They will love you for your living legacy much more than any material inheritance which you leave. If God allows you to accumulate wealth and resources during your lifetime, and it is used to further His kingdom, that is an additional blessing for your life. When I read this quote it also reminded me of my dad, who recently passed away at age 90. Although he could not leave us any earthly treasures, he left our family, and indeed the world, a living legacy of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who were taught the precepts for living found in God's Word. This legacy is carved in our hearts. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Corinthians+3%3A2-3&version=NLT (2 Corinthians 3:2-3) The only letter of recommendation we need is you yourselves. Your lives are a letter written in our hearts; everyone can read it and recognize our good work among you. Clearly, you are a letter from Christ showing the result of our ministry among you. This “letter” is written not with pen and ink, but with the Spirit of the living God. It is carved not on tablets of stone, but on human hearts. Welcome to Day 1696 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Godly Mind – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Rembrandt, and it is: A godly mind prizes honor above worldly good. A Godly Mind What Rembrandt described in this quote can also be labeled integrity. It is a person of integrity who has filled their minds with the character trait of honor and morally right attributes. It is a person who is noted for their right living in every situation and will not change for a person's praise or monetary gain. Instead, the godly mind is altered by allowing God's precepts to permeate their every thought. This kind of person expects it from themselves and those with whom they invest time. They are not after monetary gain if it means sacrificing their integrity. Yes, you can have both, but a person of integrity will never compromise to gain worldly good. They are too honorable to obtain what they may desire today if it means their honor would be sacrificed. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Titus+2%3A11-14&version=NLT (Titus 2:11-14) For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds. Welcome to Day 1695 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Praying Person – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1695 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Thomas Watson, and it is: A godly person is a praying person. A Praying Person This quote is certainly true, but the opposite would also be true. A praying person is also a godly person. The two are intricately woven together like a tightly bound rope. It is impossible to conceive that a godly person does not also pray, or a person who does not pray could be godly. They go together like a hand and glove, bread and butter, or peanut butter and jelly. Prayer gives a person the strength, courage, and desire to live a godly life. Prayer is tied to forgiveness and love. It brings healing to the soul, and as God also grants, to the body. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=James%205%3A16&version=NLT (James 5:16) Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. Christ himself gave us a model prayer during his discourse on the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 6. He also provided many examples of how effective prayer was, as mentioned in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke%205%3A16&version=NLT (Luke 5:16), But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer. If Jesus, who was the perfect imager of God, needed to pray, we who are also imagers of God, yet not perfect, certainly need to pray all the more. Prayer is so essential in our lives but not to coerce God into giving us what we desire, but to bring our will in line with God's will. It is to draw us close to God, and then we will realize how close God is to us. Therefore, we should maintain an attitude of prayer at all times and in every circumstance. This is God's will for us. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Thessalonians+5%3A16-18&version=NLT (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and it is: A God who let us prove his existence would be an idol. Proof Of God Scientifically there is no way to prove that God exists. The opposite is also true; scientifically, there is no way to prove there is no God. We know that over the millennium that science is not always accurate or provable. For example, the most outstanding scientist available a few centuries ago proposed that the earth was flat. Another premise was that the earth was the center of the universe, and the sun rotated around the earth. As we now know, based on more empirical evidence that both of those premises were drastically wrong. Being created as God's imagers, we cannot empirically prove that God exists; if we could, we would be as great or greater than the creator himself. At that point, God would only be a powerless idol. While we cannot prove the existence of God, there is proof everywhere that He does. Yes, we do have to accept this evidence by faith, but those who do not believe that God exists must by faith believe that everything results from chance and fate. There is more evidence, and it is much easier to have faith that God exists than the belief that He does not. I choose by faith to believe what I find in God's Word. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+19%3A1-4&version=NLT (Psalm 19:1-4) The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day, they continue to speak; night after night, they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans+1%3A19-20&version=NLT (Romans 1:19-20) They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. Forever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Bruce Lee, and it is: A goal is not always meant to be reached; it often serves simply as something to aim at. Aim at the Goal As I have often mentioned, it is good to set goals and then create as detailed a plan as possible to reach those goals. But, of course, the farther out the goal, the less precise the distant plans will be. In fact, along the way, you may need to readjust your goal from what you had initially intended. Changing or resetting goals is fine and can be healthy. Unfortunately, we cannot know with certainty what our future will hold. There will be many twists and turns, mountains and valleys that we must traverse before reaching our destination. Once goals are set, you should have scheduled checkpoints along the way where you stop, assess your current situation and then ask these three questions. Is the original goal still the destination we desire? Are we still heading towards our goal? What adjustments do we need to make to reach our goal? If you answer no to the first question, then pause and determine what your new destination is and modify plans accordingly. If your goal hasn't changed, but you are off course, then decide how you got off course and why. After you have analyzed how and why you are off the path, then make appropriate adjustments to keep heading in the direction of your destination. Adjust your course or change the destination as needed. Finally, realize that the lesson learned through this analysis contributes to your success during your trek of life. You will never ultimately fail in life unless you choose to quit altogether. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+25%3A8-9&version=NLT (Psalm 25:8-9) The Lord is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Proverbs 11:25, and it is: The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed Be Refreshed This proverb may be considered an oxymoron. How can you prosper if you are giving money and resources away? One thing I can be sure of, though, this proverb is abundantly factual. I can say this, because I have experienced the results in my own life. Let me break it down in a manner that might help to understand the principle of being generous and refreshing others. Let's say that I am a farmer, and I desire to grow corn. I have 10 bushels of seed corn that I can use to plant in the spring or use the corn to feed to animals. If I use it as feed, I am out of corn when the 10 bushels are gone. If I am willing to plant the corn, tend the fields, wait for it to grow, ripen, and then harvest the crop, I will end up with a yield of approximately 1,000 bushels. All it takes is a lot of hard work, perseverance, and faith that God will give the increase. The refreshment does not come during the sweltering summer months when the farmer is tending the crop. But as the crop is harvested, there is much rejoicing. How refreshing to think about. So it is when we are generous and willing to refresh others, we will end up prospering and being refreshed beyond anything we can imagine. Once again, the law of planting and harvesting can be applied to our willingness to give to others. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy%2011%3A13%2D15&version=NLT (Deuteronomy 11:13-15) “If you carefully obey the commands I am giving you today, and if you love the Lord your God and serve him with all your heart and soul, then he will send the rains in their proper seasons—the early and late rains—so you can bring in your harvests of grain, new wine, and olive oil. He will give you lush pastureland for your livestock, and you yourselves will have all you want to eat. Welcome to Day 1691 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Business Friendship – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1691 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from John D. Rockefeller, and it is: A friendship founded on business is better than a business founded on friendship. A Business Friendship Based on his success in business, I would say that John D Rockefeller knew a thing or two about business and friendships. It may be that he learned this lesson through a challenging experience of his own. However, from my own experience and observing several others businesses, I know that this quote contains good advice and wisdom. Indeed, one of the quickest ways to harm a friendship is to be a business partner. It can work, but grave errors are often made, and misconceptions flourish when business plans are not thought through before starting. The company must be structured with clearly defined roles and responsibilities for each partner. You should never start a business with 50/50 ownership. Someone has to be the overriding decision-maker. You need to have buy/sell agreements in place if one person wants out or can no longer participate in the business. You may not desire a spouse assuming control in the absence of your partner. Finally, there needs to be strong financial controls to ensure success and determine how any funds are distributed. These principles also apply if your friend and partner is also your spouse. Although working together and owning businesses has worked great for Paula and me, this is not always the case for married couples. It does work well if you are also able to establish trusted partners and friends through your business. That is because all the structure as mentioned above is set up before friendship. Keep in mind that a strong friendship may not result in a good business partnership. These principles assume that if you choose to establish a business partnership with another person or friend, both of you are committed Christ-followers. Otherwise, your business view and worldview may not align effectively. It would be challenging to be successful in business in these conditions. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Corinthians+6%3A14-15&version=NLT (2 Corinthians 6:14-15) Don't team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Bernard Meltzer, and it is: A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are. An Accepting Friend Throughout our lives, we have very few close friends. Your true friends are the ones who understand you and don't hold your past against you. Instead, they will hope with you and help you achieve your dreams for the future. Most importantly, a good friend will accept you just the way you are and help you become all that God intended you to be. We have such few close friends during our lifetime because it requires an investment of time, genuine concern, and love to maintain the bonds of friendship. In my observation, it appears that women desire a greater need for multiple close friends, while my men are pleased with one or two. On a personal level, having Paula as my primary close friend is sufficient for me. Due, in part, to the schedule we maintain with work, exercise, Bible study time, and investing in our kids and grandkids, it is undoubtedly a fulfilling life for me. The key is to be a good friend to others and a close friend to those you love most. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2012%3A26&version=NLT (Proverbs 12:26) The godly give good advice to their friends; the wicked lead them astray. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20John%204%3A7&version=NLT (1 John 4:7) Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. Welcome to Day 1689 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomDo It and Say Nothing – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1689 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Unknown, and it is: A fool tells you what he will do; a boaster what he has done. The wise man does it and says nothing. Do It and Say Nothing This quote certainly sums up most of humanity. We all know people who continually tell us of their grand plans and what they plan to accomplish. Somehow though, they never seem to get around to doing much of anything. Yet others do achieve some things, and you certainly know all about what they have done. But, unfortunately, they are the type who love to blow their trumpet loud and long to make sure that everyone knows what they have done. Others don't say much and don't draw attention to themselves, but you see the fruit of their efforts when you observe their quiet lives. They accomplish much, and it is usually for the benefit of others. This last type of person is indeed the wise ones. They realize and understand that we are here to accomplish God's purpose with our lives. They would rather God receive the glory due him, and not themselves. Be like this third person. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2012%3A23&version=NLT (Proverbs 12:23) The wise don't make a show of their knowledge, but fools broadcast their foolishness. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2013%3A16&version=NLT (Proverbs 13:16) Wise people think before they act; fools don't—and even brag about their foolishness.
