Episode 30 Barbara Johnson-WillardThe team continues to work alongside Delaware County, Oklahoma officials tacking some of their unsolved and cold cases. In this episode, the panel dives into the case of 29 year old Barbara Johnson-Willard who went missing from Jay, Oklahoma on June 17, 1996 after a late night out watching a movie. Ten days after she was last seen, her red Mercury Cougar was found in a ravine near Colcord in southern Delaware County. Someone had attempted to set it on fire. Although Barbara was nowhere to be found, investigators discovered evidence of decaying flesh in the trunk of the car. Barbara was never seen again. It's not clear whether Barbara ever made it to her home the night she vanished, but there was no sign of a struggle or forced entry there. However, police did discover that Barbara's bedding from her bed was missing. A look into Barbara's background linked her to a man in prison named John Lee Weeks, a serial rapist. Evidence including DNA and prints recovered from Barbara's car links Weeks to it, but to date, he hasn't been charged in Barbara's case.If you have any information about the case of Barbara Johnson-Willard, please contact the Delaware County, OK Sheriff's cold case unit You can call (918) 253-4531You can reach Sheila Stogsdill with tips via email @sstogsdill@ksn16.tv or phone at (918)-791-1962If you can contribute to our Gofundme efforts to help solve some of these Delaware County cases, your help would be greatly appreciated. Nicola was geliefd. Steve.

Happy New Year! In this new season, I'm doing a series entitled Stop Calling Me Strong. I'm conversing with Black women about the impact of the 'strong black woman's burden' on their lives and what, if anything, they are doing to heal from the tendency to self-silence, caretake and present as independent. In episode S3 E1, I talk with Barbara Johnson Milburn who says she is so tired of being called strong. We talked about how her man, and the sisters in her church, responded when her only child, her son, passed away. We discuss why other black women (and men) seem to find it hard to offer comfort and support when a 'strong black woman' is sick, sad, or grieving. Throughout the country, many schools will be opening their doors already in August. Summer vacation will soon end. For some, it has been a time for summer reading and summer school activities and preparation for the coming school year. Barbara Johnson, a noted author and humorist, has written several books that give us off-the-wall humor and down-to-earth inspiration. She believes that laughter is good for the soul. She states that our five senses are incomplete without the sixth sense, a sense of humor. Humor is to life what shock absorbers are to automobiles. A sense of humor can help you overlook the unattractive, tolerate the unpleasant, cope with the unexpected, and smile through the unbearable. She states that, "Things will probably come out all right, but sometimes it takes strong nerves to watch. When the going gets tough. We got to get tougher." Some of her thoughts bring smiles and laughter. She tells us that a smile is a wrinkle that should not be removed. And there's a light in the window of the face that shows that your heart is at home. And if you look at the bright side of life, you will never have eyestrain. More thoughts from Barbara: Frogs have it easy, they can eat what bugs them. Man cannot live by bread alone. He needs peanut butter too. The handwriting on the wall means that the grandchildren have found the crayons. She gives us a bit of inspiration for our journey through life. She states that "if you learn to laugh in spite of circumstances that surround you, you will enrich others, enrich yourself, and more than that, you will last.” More Warm Thoughts: Life is easier than you think. All you have to do is accept the impossible, do without the indispensable, hear the intolerable, and be able to smile at anything. Laugh out loud and often. We also discuss the President's September 2021 executive order, which directed OSHA to develop any Emergency Temporary Standard referred to as an ETS. The stated goal of this ETS is to protect unvaccinated workers from the risk of contracting COVID-19 at work. Welcome to Day 1715 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomThe Last Word – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1715 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today's trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16&version=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Barbara Johnson, and it is: A good way to have the last word is to apologize. The Last Word I think most of us like to have the last word in a conversation. What that usually means is that we want to be right at the expense of the other person. Suppose you feel the need to be correct and prove another person as wrong means that you both have lost. We don't have to agree on most topics to carry on a meaningful and productive conversation. We live in such a contentious environment today, especially online, where a whole segment of people call trolls whose purpose is to argue and disagree with others who may not share their opinion. There are very few issues worth arguing about in life and even fewer people whose minds have been changed because of an argument. It usually just entrenches those individuals to be adamant with their opinion. Instead, we should love others and be concerned about their well-being. We do not have to win the argument or try and prove we are right. As long as we are right with God, and at peace that our thoughts and opinions align with God's precepts found in His Word, then that is all we need. If you must have the last word, let it apologize for when we are offensive or have spoken inappropriately. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Colossians+4%3A5-6&version=NLT (Colossians 4:5-6) Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone. In Greek, the words gracious and attractive mean ‘and seasoned with salt,' which reminds me of https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+5%3A13-16&version=NLT (Matthew 5:13-16) “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' If you would like to listen to any of our past 1714 treks or read the Wisdom Journal, they are available at Wisdom-Trek.com.
