"Give me that old-time religion," we used to sing. In Christianity there's a justified bias against the hot, new thing. If a doctrine just sprang up yesterday, you don't have to listen to it; it's not true. The Roman Christians reading Paul's letter had the same outlook. If salvation by grace through faith was real, and not some newfangled heresy, we should be able to trace it back to Abraham, maybe even to Adam. Here's Jim with Part 2 of, The Testimony of Abraham. The self-righteous bunch were always crowing about Father Abraham. "OK," Paul says, "let's talk about Abraham!" In the book of Romans God gives us an explanation of how His plan works, and why. His solution to our sin problem sounds new. It strikes some people as conflicting with the Law, and nullifying promises to Abraham. Paul takes those objections head-on. He shows that Abraham is the poster-boy not for works, but for faith. God makes a lot of promises. Do you believe that he'll keep them? Is God actually trustworthy? As Israel prepares to enter the land God promised to them, we are reminded of God's faithfulness and trustworthiness over time. Welcome to Day 1725 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomOutpace the Competition – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1725 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today's trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16&version=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Ovid, and it is: A horse never runs so fast as when he has other horses to catch up and outpace. Outpace The Competition In nearly all areas of life, competition is beneficial for you, to the person(s) you are competing with and whatever you are pursuing and the product you are making or marketing. Knowing that we have to go head-to-head with another person for a position, client, sporting event, or other pursuits in life will allow us to try harder, perform better, and succeed in the goals we are trying to achieve. In addition, competing will make the activity even more enjoyable. When others determine the level of achievement we are competing with, it raises the stakes for everyone involved. It will allow teams or individuals to try harder and excel in sporting events. It will enable manufacturers of products to produce better and even new products. Finally, it will force better performance within any organization. I don't believe we are doing children a favor when we take out competition from events because they will be expected to compete when they are adults. It is acceptable to recognize participants, but there should also be rewards for those who excel. It is not a matter of whether you are better than someone else; it is a matter of utilizing your God-given potential to your greatest potential for you. Competition helps to make sure we are doing our best for God's glory. We may not win when we compete, but it has proven to be effective if it forces us to do and be better than we would have otherwise. Compete well, and give God the glory for the outcome, no matter what the result. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews%2012%3A1&version=NLT (Hebrews 12:1) Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' Welcome to Day 1711 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Good Race – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1711 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Zig Ziglar, and it is: A good racehorse does not ask for a dry track. A Good Race We would all love it, if our race in life were on smooth straight surfaces with no restrictions or obstructions. The problem is that you will never fulfill your God-given potential if life is always easy with no tribulations. It is the problematic segments of our race of life that allow us to hone our skills, mature, and be refined into pure gold. Just like the best racehorses don't require a dry track or all the conditions to be perfect. Racehorses are bred to race in any situation and are born to love the race. Racing is their calling in life. So it is when they are racing; they are in their natural element. It is the same for us, we are created as imagers of God, and we are here on this earth for a specific purpose. Our purpose, our vocation as citizens of God's kingdom, is to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. By its very nature, being salt and light is not a life of ease. It is not a smooth and flat racetrack. Our lives are to bring savory life to a dying world and light to a dark world. Being salt and light may not always be an easy race, but an easy race is not our vocation. We do not ask for a dry track but the strength to race well. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews%2012%3A1&version=NLT (Hebrews 12:1) Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. Welcome to Day 1699 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomThe Best Sermon – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1699 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Benjamin Franklin, and it is: A good example is the best sermon. The Best Sermon A life lived well and for the betterment of others will always carry more weight than anything that we may speak. But, unfortunately, too often, people tell us the right thing to do, yet they do not follow their advice. However, there are those few special people in our life that we can look up to. We look up to them because they not only teach us the right way to live our lives, but they also provide us with a good example. We can certainly learn more from a person who sets a good example than someone who does not walk their talk. When we see another person living right it becomes contagious. They draw you tho them like a moth to a flame. You desire to be around them and to emulate them. Our actions always speak louder than our words. Others will notice when you live right and will be much more willing to listen to you when you are speaking. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Corinthians%2013%3A1&version=NLT (1 Corinthians 13:1) If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn't love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Peter+3%3A15-16&version=NLT (1 Perter 3:15-16) Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ. As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' Isaiah 61:1-3 (New King James)The Good News of Salvation61 “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,Because the Lord has anointed MeTo preach good tidings to the poor;He has sent Me to [a]heal the brokenhearted,To proclaim liberty to the captives,And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,And the day of vengeance of our God;To comfort all who mourn,3 To [b]console those who mourn in Zion,To give them beauty for ashes,The oil of joy for mourning,The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness,The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”
Welcome to Day 1694 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomProof Of God – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1694 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and it is: A God who let us prove his existence would be an idol. Proof Of God Scientifically there is no way to prove that God exists. The opposite is also true; scientifically, there is no way to prove there is no God. We know that over the millennium that science is not always accurate or provable. For example, the most outstanding scientist available a few centuries ago proposed that the earth was flat. Another premise was that the earth was the center of the universe, and the sun rotated around the earth. As we now know, based on more empirical evidence that both of those premises were drastically wrong. Being created as God's imagers, we cannot empirically prove that God exists; if we could, we would be as great or greater than the creator himself. At that point, God would only be a powerless idol. While we cannot prove the existence of God, there is proof everywhere that He does. Yes, we do have to accept this evidence by faith, but those who do not believe that God exists must by faith believe that everything results from chance and fate. There is more evidence, and it is much easier to have faith that God exists than the belief that He does not. I choose by faith to believe what I find in God's Word. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+19%3A1-4&version=NLT (Psalm 19:1-4) The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day, they continue to speak; night after night, they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans+1%3A19-20&version=NLT (Romans 1:19-20) They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. Forever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Welcome to Day 1685 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom A Firm Faith – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1685 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from B. B. Warfield, and it is: A firm faith in the universal providence of God is the solution of all earthly troubles. A Firm Faith All of us have faith, at least to some degree. Even if you do not believe in a personal God who created us to be His imagers, you still have faith. Every time you sit down on a chair, you have faith that it will hold you. Every time you get into a car, you have faith that you will reach your destination. So the question we need to ask ourselves as Christ-followers: is our faith strong enough in the universal providence of God that we can cease to worry about that which we have no control over. If not, what can we do to strengthen our faith? We certainly won't have all of the answers, but that is where faith comes in. The writer of https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews+11%3A1-3&version=NLT (Hebrews 11:1-3) reminds us, Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation. By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God's command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen. If we have faith that God did create the entire universe, then why do we struggle and doubt that He will not provide for our daily needs? Instead, we need to depend on ourselves less and depend on God more. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+6%3A31-34&version=NLT (Matthew 6:31-34) “So don't worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?' These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today. As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' Captivity is always an option. It's strange to think that a freed slave would voluntarily go back into bondage. But the ancient Israelites wanted to do it. Paul saw an entire church - the church in Galatia - that apparently found servitude appealing. And we have to admit that being a free and responsible person is sometimes a burden. How can we stay free (assuming we want to)? Let's join Jim in Galatians 4:31 for the second half of, Freedom to Fail. Deuteronomy 2:1-72 Then we turned back and set out toward the wilderness along the route to the Red Sea,[a] as the Lord had directed me. For a long time we made our way around the hill country of Seir.2 Then the Lord said to me, 3 “You have made your way around this hill country long enough; now turn north. 4 Give the people these orders: ‘You are about to pass through the territory of your relatives the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. They will be afraid of you, but be very careful. 5 Do not provoke them to war, for I will not give you any of their land, not even enough to put your foot on. I have given Esau the hill country of Seir as his own. 6 You are to pay them in silver for the food you eat and the water you drink.'”7 The Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast wilderness. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you, and you have not lacked anything.

Fireworks and freedom just seem to go together! Paul wrote a letter about Freedom in Christ, and it's full of fireworks! It's the book of Galatians. "He who laughs last laughs best." Or, "All's well that ends well." We have a number of old, "trite and true" sayings to remind us that it is in fact not the journey, but the destination, that's all-important. Today we'll conclude our series of questions, called I Wonder. And at least some of them have been questions for God, or challenges to Him. How does He defend the suffering and injustice that we have to live in? The Bible is the only place for answers to these questions, and especially that book at the back that tells us about the End. Jesus could say, "My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?" but we cannot. On His cross the Son of God suffered alone, except for a few friends who couldn't be of much comfort. We on our crosses may feel like we're alone - and the Enemy will try to intensify that feeling - but God is with us. We've asked some tough questions in this series, I Wonder. Some of the toughest have to do with human pain, and what it means to have a God who allows that to continue - for now. Jim will address the ultimate answer today. Welcome to Day 1672 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomHemmed in Prayer – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1672 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Charles Spurgeon, and it is: A day hemmed in prayer is less likely to unravel. Hemmed in Prayer Ever have one of those days where it seems to unravel before your very eyes? I have had my share of them. Sometimes they come all at once. When life begins to unravel, where can we run? How do you start and end your day? I would recommend that you hem the beginning of each new day by allowing God's Word to flow through you and seeking His face through prayer. When you establish the proper mindset at the beginning of each day, it will allow you to focus on what is most important in life. When you end your day with a prayer of gratitude for another day well-lived, you hem the day that might have otherwise unraveled. Why do we hem a piece of cloth? So that it looks finished. So that it doesn't unravel. So that it doesn't fall apart. We hem so that the fabric is protected and the edges are secure. Our all-knowing God is doing that for our lives. He hems us in so that we have borders and those borders are protected. God hems us in so that we are secure and finished in Him. He hems us in, behind us, and before us. What an important truth to live, remember, you are hemmed in today. The borders of your life are protected and secure because of our all-knowing, all-loving God. If your life has come unraveled, turn in prayer to the Master Tailor. He stands at the ready with the needle in hand. God is prepared to put things back for you. All you have to do is “stand still”…..and see the salvation of the Lord. The Master hems you in through prayer. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+31%3A1-5&version=NLT (Psalm 31:1-5) O Lord, I have come to you for protection; don't let me be disgraced. Save me, for you do what is right. Turn your ear to listen to me; rescue me quickly. Be my rock of protection, a fortress where I will be safe. You are my rock and my fortress. For the honor of your name, lead me out of this danger. Pull me from the trap my enemies set for me, for I find protection in you alone. I entrust my spirit into your hand. Rescue me, Lord, for you are a faithful God. Welcome to Day 1661 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Competent Leader – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1661 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from John J. Pershing, and it is: A competent leader can get efficient service from poor troops; an incapable leader can demoralize the best of troops. A Competent Leader Every person is a leader of others, at least in some area of life. You may be a Dad or Mom, Aunt or Uncle, a teacher, a manager, a pastor, or an officer in the armed service. Regardless of who you impact, it would be best to strive to be competent in that area of life. When you are competent in a particular area of life, even if those you lead are not very good or qualified, you can still obtain good service from those you lead. Otherwise, it will frustrate and demoralize those you are attempting to teach if you are incapable of your leadership. You may need to train yourself to be a better, more competent leader. If that is the case, by all means, obtain the training that you need. Don't try to bluff your way through leading others. You will lose the respect and admiration of others. Do whatever is necessary to be more competent in all areas of life, especially in those areas where God has gifted you. You will know when you see a person who is a good leader. An example of a good leader in the church is described in: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Timothy+3%3A1-7&version=NLT (1 Timothy 3:1-7) This is a trustworthy saying: “If someone aspires to be a church leader, he desires an honorable position.” So a church leader must be a man whose life is above reproach. He must be faithful to his wife. He must exercise self-control, live wisely, and have a good reputation. He must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must be able to teach. He must not be a heavy drinker or be violent. He must be gentle, not quarrelsome, and not love money. He must manage his own family well, having children who respect and obey him. For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God's church? A church leader must not be a new believer, because he might become proud, and the devil would cause him to fall. Also, people outside the church must speak well of him so that he will not be disgraced and fall into the devil's trap. As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' Welcome to Day 1655 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomKeep The Faith – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek. We are on Day 1655 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Jim Patrick, and it is: A Christian must keep the faith, but not to himself. Keep The Faith Throughout scripture, we are encouraged to ‘keep the faith,' but that does not mean keeping it to ourselves. In fact, we are commanded to share our faith with others as we have the opportunity to do so. Faith is powerful, and with that power, we can move mountains. It only takes a small amount of faith to impact the world significantly. The root of the issue is that we lack adequate faith for our use, let alone having enough to share that faith with others. If we are questioning and not following God's precepts, how can we expect others who observe us and gain faith through us? It is through faith that a righteous person has life. We need to allow God to enable us to live a life worthy of His call. It is then we will have the power to accomplish all the good things faith in God prompts us to do. We need to cling to our faith so that we can share it with others. The instructions for a robust faith are found in, https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews+12%3A1-2&version=NLT (Hebrews 12:1-2) Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Welcome to Day 1652 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomEncourage Everyone – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek. We are on Day 1652 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Max Lucado, and it is: A Christian in his surroundings should encourage everyone to be better, instead of being the one who stoops to be like everyone else. Encourage Everyone As Christ-followers, we are to be distinctly different from those who are not, but in a very positive manner. Instead of blending in with our current culture, we need to be defining what the culture should be as a disciple of Christ. Our world view and outlook on life are not the same as what is so intelligently portrayed on TV, the news media, or much of social media. Where we see division and strife, we should be demonstrating love and encouragement. Where we see people cutting down others, we should be building others up. Where we see anger and violence, we should be promoting unity and peace. Instead of stooping to the dangerous level of those who do not know Christ, we should be climbing on the towering rock of safety. Our natural habitat as citizens of God's kingdom should be reflected in the fruit of the Spirit that inhabits us. When we act as if we are not part of God's kingdom, we are not adequately representing the King of our kingdom. We need to encourage everyone we meet to be better. We are not to stoop down to be like those who are not yet part of God's kingdom. We are to have the same attitude as Christ. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Philippians+2%3A1-4&version=NLT (Philippians 2:1-4) Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' When the "officials" come out on the field and start kicking the ball around, they're not officiating anymore! As the gospel spread in the first century it forced people to take sides. Exactly what and how much do we owe to God, and how much to the king? What if the king thinks he is a god? What if the supposedly impartial rulers, the "officials," take sides in the game? These are questions arising from our reading of Acts 17 today. Paul had a feeling he was not in Kansas anymore! The Apostle who called himself a "Hebrew of Hebrews" found himself far from home, out in the land of the Gentiles. And things were different, yet the same. We've come to Acts 17 in our survey of this fascinating book. We'll see that, wherever they go, Paul, Silas and Timothy make it a point to bring the gospel to Jews first, and then to the non-Jews. In both groups they'll find faith, and also fury. They became infamous as Those Who Have Turned the World Upside-Down. While Paul and Silas were obeying the command to "Go," the Holy Spirit told them to Stop! Go, preach the gospel everywhere - but not here, not just yet. That's one of the notable things we'll get out of Acts 16, today. It must be that God has a strategy. There's nothing unplanned in heaven, even though we may not know what those plans are. Yesterday we started a sermon called, Application of the Apostolic Decisions About Gentiles. Today we'll continue to learn about Paul's Second Missionary Journey. The Jerusalem Council had made its decision. Now, how would the people in the pews receive it? Some unauthorized teachers and Pharisees - who else? - had tried to put the church under the Law. But the dustup had been resolved. The Gentiles' freedom in Christ had been preserved... with some stipulations. Let's learn what these were, and how both Jews and Gentiles liked the outcome. Welcome to Day 1639 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomBooks Open Your World – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. We are on Day 1639 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Jeff Bezos, and it is: A brand for a company is like a reputation for a person. You earn a reputation by trying to do hard things well. Your Reputation Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, and one of the wealthiest people on earth, certainly knows how important a company brand is. His analogy is undoubtedly correct. What a brand is to a company, your reputation is your brand as a person. Just as a company brand is not created overnight, a good reputation is built over years of living a good and godly life. A life lived with honesty, integrity, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. A good reputation should be sought after, but it does not come easy. According to God's Word, living a life without hypocrisy, doing what is right, requires perseverance, focus, dedication, and an intense desire to live well. It is doing the hard things well. For Amazon, before they became the giant company that touches nearly everyone's life in some manner, they started out selling books online and lost money for many years. Amazon continued with a vision to do the hard things well, and now their brand is pervasive throughout the world. So it is with us, if we desire to have a worldwide impact with a good reputation for God's kingdom, we must be willing to live in a manner where we sacrifice the quick and easy, for doing the hard things well. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+3%3A3-6&version=NLT ( Proverbs 3:3-6) Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation. Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2022%3A1&version=NLT (Proverbs 22:1) Choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold. If Gentiles don't have to become Jews, do Jews have to become Gentiles? I've been known to ask trick questions to get you thinking. But this question is a sincere one that has implications for us today, just as it did 2,000 years ago. Should Jews give up their cultural and religious distinctives when they embrace Jesus? Are these just remnants of the Old Covenant to be cast off, or do they enrich the faith of the believing Jew? Jim takes us back to Peter's speech in Acts 15. Welcome to Day 1636 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomUndefeated – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. We are on Day 1636 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Ray Comfort, and it is: A blind, anemic, weak-kneed flea on crutches would have a greater chance of defeating a herd of a thousand wild stampeding elephants, than the enemy has of defeating God. Undefeated The comparison in today's quote gives us a minor glimpse of the power of God. In other words, no person, government, world power, or supernatural being can ever come close to defeating God. God is the creator of the universe and supreme over everything that He created. When I ponder the magnitude of the universe with its billions of stars, planets, solar systems, and the untold number of galaxies, I feel like I am the flee in today's quote, quite incapable of grasping God's power and might. Based on this knowledge, I am confident that I never have to fear or worry because our mighty God is in control of all. God has made us His imagers and representatives on earth. We are called to build His kingdom on earth, as it is in heaven. God's original plan for Eden was not stopped; it is still ongoing through us. Through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, His plan to restore Eden was put in place. Through each of us individually and His earthly body, the church His plan will be fulfilled. The mighty God cannot be defeated. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+50%3A1-6&version=NLT (Psalm 50:1-6) The Lord, the Mighty One, is God, and he has spoken; he has summoned all humanity from where the sun rises to where it sets. From Mount Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines in glorious radiance. Our God approaches, and he is not silent. Fire devours everything in his way, and a great storm rages around him. He calls on the heavens above and earth below to witness the judgment of his people. “Bring my faithful people to me— those who made a covenant with me by giving sacrifices.” Then let the heavens proclaim his justice, for God himself will be the judge. Mood board time. When you think of climate change, what is the visual that comes to mind? Is it oil refineries? Factory smog? Does it include agriculture? If it doesn’t include agriculture, your mood board is about to get an update after this episode. As part of our special series on climate, Jillian Semaan, Director of Food and Environment at Earthday.org joined us to discuss the deep impact that agriculture and its related practices have on the climate -- and our future. Through this discussion, Jillian gave light to the intersection between agriculture and the environment, while also helping us get a firm grasp on what on earth the USDA does. Welcome to Day 1619 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomRefusing To See – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. Our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on our trek to increase wisdom and create a living legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16&version=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) says, “How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver!” Today is https://wisdom-trek.com/captivate-podcast/day-1619/ (Day 1619) of our trek, and it's time for another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Matthew Henry, and it is, “There are none so blind as those that will not see.” Refusing To See It is hard to admit, but everyone on earth is somewhat blind to their reality. Most of us think more highly of ourselves than we should. Even when our character flaws are pointed out to us, we choose not to see them. So it is with many areas of our lives…Our paradigms control how we view life. Let me explain what a paradigm is. A paradigm is a standard, perspective, or set of ideas. A paradigm is a way of looking at something. The word paradigm comes up a lot in the academic, scientific, and business worlds. When you change paradigms, you're changing how you think about something. When applied to your life, you can think of a paradigm as a collection of thought patterns that produce habits that deliver results that may or may not be in harmony with what you would love. These paradigms dictate how we think about money, relationships, career, health, and so on. The interesting aspect of our paradigm is that even when it is proven to be false, we often hold to our viewpoint and ignore or deny that we may be wrong. We refuse to see, even when faced with the facts. We see this so clearly today in our politically charged society, across the spectrum. Even when an argument is debunked, many will still hold onto their perspective because they are so blind to the other side that they will not see the proof before them. Part of this denial is that it is challenging to understand the truth on a variety of topics. This is fueled by journalists in the traditional media who are no longer accountable for the news they broadcast. It is also driven by untold multitudes of self-proclaimed experts on social media who vomit up endless diatribes of information with little knowledge or desire to know what is true. We all need to be very careful that we do not fall prey to misinformation. We need to be very careful that we do not become so blind that we do not seek or see the truth. We need to know and understand God's Word so that we can have our spiritual sight because we know and understand the truth in all life areas. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Corinthians+4%3A1-7&version=NLT (2 Corinthians 4:1-7) Therefore, since God in his mercy has given us this new way, we never give up. We reject all shameful deeds and underhanded methods. We don't try to trick anyone or distort the word of God. We tell the truth before God, and all who are honest know this. If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing. Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don't believe. They are unable to see...
