In https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Corinthians%2013%3A13&version=NIV (1 Corinthians 13:13), the apostle Paul tells us that a life filled with God's Spirit will be more and more characterized by three things: faith, hope, and love. You can't really live the Christian life without them. Those three are always intertwined, making it impossible to have one without also having the others. Hope is like a vital third leg of a three-legged stool. Like with faith and love, hope is a kind of mental and emotional switch we must hit inside our head. It's a choice we can make. But not a blind choice. God has given us powerful ancient words and prayers upon which to base that choice. That's the subject of this episode. Psalm 108:1 ESV My heart is steadfast, O God! I will sing and make melody with all my being!  Psalm 27:14 ESV Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD! Psalm 31:24 NIV Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD. 2 Corinthians 4:16–17 ESV So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison. Psalm 42:11 NIV Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. Psalm 62:5 NIV Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. Psalm 130:7 NIV11-GK ...Put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. Psalm 146:5–6 NIV Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD their God. He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them— he remains faithful forever. Who can you share this podcast with? Welcome to Day 1719 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Leader's Courage – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1719 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today's trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16&version=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver!    If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from John Maxwell, and it is: A great leader's courage to fulfill his vision comes from passion, not position. A Leader's Courage While most leadership roles originate from a position within an organization, effective leadership is within the person leading. It takes courage to lead and especially to lead well. Unfortunately, many persons put into leadership positions lack the courage and passion that results in good leaders. When the path ahead becomes challenging, if a leader does not have a clear vision that they can set their eyes on, their ability to reach their destination will be thwarted.  To fulfill the vision, it does take courage and passion that is deep within a person. That has nothing to do with the position a person holds.  Courage does not come from not being afraid, but it comes from the ability to move forward, even when you are scared. So be encouraged by the fact that you can become a great leader when you are willing to take responsibility with passion and strive towards your vision. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Corinthians%2016%3A13&version=NLT (1 Corinthians 16:13) Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. The Last Word I think most of us like to have the last word in a conversation. What that usually means is that we want to be right at the expense of the other person. Suppose you feel the need to be correct and prove another person as wrong means that you both have lost. We don't have to agree on most topics to carry on a meaningful and productive conversation. We live in such a contentious environment today, especially online, where a whole segment of people call trolls whose purpose is to argue and disagree with others who may not share their opinion. There are very few issues worth arguing about in life and even fewer people whose minds have been changed because of an argument. It usually just entrenches those individuals to be adamant with their opinion. Instead, we should love others and be concerned about their well-being. We do not have to win the argument or try and prove we are right. As long as we are right with God, and at peace that our thoughts and opinions align with God's precepts found in His Word, then that is all we need. If you must have the last word, let it apologize for when we are offensive or have spoken inappropriately. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Colossians+4%3A5-6&version=NLT (Colossians 4:5-6) Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity.  Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone. In Greek, the words gracious and attractive mean ‘and seasoned with salt,' which reminds me of https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+5%3A13-16&version=NLT (Matthew 5:13-16) “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.  As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' Any Other One Thing We all like to be around individuals or groups of people who make us laugh. Comedy is a huge industry. Our TV lineups are packed with what we call sitcoms, which stand for situational comedy. Laughing is proven to be beneficial for the body, mind, and soul. Therefore, we should live to laugh at our situations or even ourselves from time to time. Unfortunately, sometimes we just take ourselves too seriously. There is somewhat an overused phrase that I see hanging in many homes and offices, but it has a lot of truth about how we should face each day. The saying is: Live, Laugh, and Love. We should apply this phrase to our lives in this manner. Each day as you are going about living, don't forget to laugh with others and love others. When we apply this mantra to our lives, we will come to understand the quote for today. A good laugh overcomes more difficulties and dissipates more dark clouds than any other one thing. In addition, we need to make it a point to encourage others, be kind to others, and invest time in laughing with others. Let's not take life too seriously. Tomorrow is a new day, and most of what we are concerned about today will never happen. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2015%3A13&version=NLT (Proverbs 15:13) A glad heart makes a happy face; a broken heart crushes the spirit. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2015%3A15&version=NLT (Proverbs 15:15) For the despondent, every day brings trouble; for the happy heart, life is a continual feast. We are on Day 1681 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Elbert Hubbard, and it is: A failure is a man who has blundered but is not capable of cashing in on the experience. The Experience of Failure Any person who attempts anything significant will fail in their pursuits somewhere along their journey. The more you attempt, the greater the possibility of failure will be. On a personal note, I have attempted many adventures in life. Some of the enterprises were successful, some of which were not.  I probably look successful in the eyes of most people, but my failure to success ratio is probably about the same as anyone. One thing I did differently than some was that I turned my experiences into future success. I attempted to learn from each painful lesson of failure, which there have been many, and use it the next time for my benefit. It is the same with you. You will fail at times, guaranteed, but you need to be willing to take the rich lessons of those failures and use them as a downpayment towards your next adventure. God will give you wisdom, if you are willing to use it. You must work hard and keep on keeping on, especially when you feel like giving up. There are no rewards so rich as the lessons learned and the experience gained from total failure.  You will never completely fail unless you give up and not try again. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Chronicles%2022%3A13&version=NLT (1 Chronicles 22:13) For you will be successful if you carefully obey the decrees and regulations that the Lord gave to Israel through Moses. Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or lose heart! If you put your car in Drive and it goes backwards, something's wrong. On Friday we opened a sermon called Why Don't I Do What I Know I Should? ...and it deals with an issue that has frustrated every Christian all the way back to the Apostle Paul: If I know what is right, and I want to do what is right, why can't I do it? He cried, "O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?" Fortunately it's not a rhetorical question. Here's Jim in Romans 7. God is bigger than your tribe - or your 12 tribes! When Paul stood up to preach in Acts 13, he joined a long line of messengers speaking to the people of Israel. But God's message could not be contained within that group, any more than His love or His power could be confined to a single nation. The new wine was about to burst the old wineskins. If that sounds messy, it was. Today we'll conclude Jim's sermon, Through the Jews, to the Gentiles. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it," goes the famous quote from Santayana. When Paul gets a chance to address a congregation on what some call the "First Missionary Journey," his theme is history - specifically Jewish history: the faithfulness of God and the failures of His people. It may remind you of Stephen's sermon. It certainly had the same bite. We'll be in Acts 13 for a message called Through the Jews, to the Gentiles, after Jim opens with prayer. Welcome to Day 1608 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom. The Way You Work – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. Our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on our trek to increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16&version=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver!  Today is Day 1608 of our Trek, and it's time for another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Russell Simmons, and it is:   Your happiness ultimately comes from the way you work, not where you work.  The Way You Work Nearly everyone is constantly pursuing personal happiness. We don't fully understand, or we don't choose to acknowledge that happiness is based on happenstances, that is to say, external influences of which we may or may not have complete control over.  If our happiness depends on those factors we do not have control over, we can never be truly happy. We need to focus our happiness on those situations where we have at least some control element. Let's consider your workplace regardless of whether you work from home, an office, a factory, a construction site, or a fast-food business. Not every job or location will be ideal, and some days will be better than others. It depends more on the way you work. If you focus on the good that your work brings to the world, it will allow you to take pride in a job well done, regardless of how mundane it may appear. All work serves a purpose and has value. Your job may be doing laundry, mopping up spills, repetitive assembly work, pounding a hammer, or performing heart surgery. It all has a purpose. Instead of focusing on where you work, focus on the way you work and how it does bring value to others. In addition to the happiness that your work brings to others, it also can bring happiness to you because you know you have done your best with what you have been tasked to complete. In addition to happiness, which will be allusive at times, as Christ-followers, we need to seek peace and joy from within.  You can have peace and joy regardless of the storms that may surround you. Only God can provide true peace and joy. When you find peace and joy, it is then you will also find happiness. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%2015%3A13&version=NLT (Romans 15:13) I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. As you ponder this nugget of daily wisdom yourself, I would ask you to please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' Miracles in Jesus' name...but not in His will! The Sermon on the Mount is filled with shocking statements, perhaps none more surprising than the one we'll study today. There will be "many," Christ said, that will seem to be favored by heaven, wielding supernatural power, saying the right things, who will be turned away at the door. They will be stunned, and we should be jolted into a desire to find out what's going on here. Jim brings us Part 2 of his sermon, In That Day Listen to Right Start Radio every Monday through Friday on WCVX 1160AM (Cincinnati, OH) at 9:30am, WHKC 91.5FM (Columbus, OH) at 5:00pm, WRFD 880AM (Columbus, OH) at 9:00am and WRZN 720AM (Gainesville & Ocala, FL) at 7:30am. Plato said, "The worst of all deceptions is self deception." He didn't know how right he was. As Jesus begins to wrap up the address that we've come to call the Sermon on the Mount, He warns us about false teachers, and then He reveals something worse: false followers - people who believe they believe, and who can support their claim with supernatural effects, but whom the Lord dramatically disowns. Here's Part 1 of Jim's important sermon, In That Day Listen to Right Start Radio every Monday through Friday on WCVX 1160AM (Cincinnati, OH) at 9:30am, WHKC 91.5FM (Columbus, OH) at 5:00pm, WRFD 880AM (Columbus, OH) at 9:00am and WRZN 720AM (Gainesville & Ocala, FL) at 7:30am. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. Our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps; thanks for coming along on our journey to increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. Today is Day 1594 of our Trek, and it's time for your daily snippet of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Maximus, and it is:   What we do in life, echoes in eternity.      Echoes In Eternity I have emphasized this point several times on our podcast. What we do every day does matter. Not only does it matter for that day, but it ripples throughout all eternity. Think about it in this manner. If you were able to throw a one-ton boulder into a lake, it would send large ripples cascading out from the point of impact. So a huge boulder will have a huge impact. In the same manner, though, if you toss a pebble into the same lake, it too will send ripples out from the point of impact. The ripples won't be as evident with the pebble compared to the boulder, but they will impact the lake in the same manner. So it is with our lives. Most days, our impact will be like the pebble, and it will not be as noticeable, but it will still have an impact. There will be a few times in our life, where our lives will be like the boulder, and the ripples throughout eternity will be much more noticeable. Let's think of this analogy from a different angle. Let's say that you picked up one pebble every hour each day of your life and put it into this huge container. If you lived until you were 90, you would have gathered up 788,400 pebbles during your life. Now let's take the huge container the throw it into the lake. The ripples that it would send out would be huge waves that would stretch out for a very long time. The same thing happens in our lives. Just think about the impact that your grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and siblings have had on your life. Think about the impact that you are having on your children, grandchildren, and anyone else you meet during your life. That impact both on you and from you not only has an immediate impact, but that impact truly echos throughout all of eternity. Each one of us is a bearer of God's image. Your life is important. Important to God, and to every one that you impact throughout your entire life. Let your life be an echo for good throughout eternity. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ecclesiastes%203%3A11&version=NLT (Ecclesiastes 3:11) Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaiah%2043%3A13&version=NLT (Isaiah 43:13) “From eternity to eternity, I am God. No one can snatch anyone out of my hand. No one can undo what I have done.” As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, I would ask you to please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along on Monday for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' We could sum up the modern madness by saying, "We want do to as we please - with no consequences!" You choose your destination when you board the airplane. And no, they're not all going to the same place! The bad news is that most people are headed for a horrible destination. The good news is that we get to decide. The problem is that many folks want to take the "highway to hell" and somehow end up in heaven. This will not happen, says Jesus. We're often fixated on tasks. Jesus is focused on people. It's true that Christ had a mission, and still has more to accomplish in our world. But His mission is the salvation of people; and our world is a world of men and women, boys and girls. The Savior's heart is drawn to our neighbors and our family members. How about our hearts? On Friday Jim began a sermon called Being Good for Nothing. And of course that's taken from Jesus' line, "if the salt should become tasteless, what can make it salt again? It is completely useless." Today we'll talk about how to get salty! Salt. It's a life-sustaining nutrient, it makes things taste good...and it raises some people's blood pressure. Jesus uses metaphors not just to explain the Kingdom, but to explain us to ourselves. We disciples, He said, are the "salt of the earth." In that time and place, salt was as vital as water - and, as many have pointed out, it was used as a preservative. But even in our hypertensive times the comparison still works; our saltiness will cause an adverse reaction in some. Jim's new sermon is called Being Good for Nothing. He's in Matthew, chapter 5. Hello, my friend; I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your Captain on our journey to increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1537 of our Trek, and time for a 3-minute mini-trek called Humor Unplugged. Our Thursday podcast will provide a short and clean funny story to help you lighten up and live a rich and satisfying life. Something to cheer you and give a bit a levity in your life. We are told in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+15:30&version=NLT (Proverbs 15:30) A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health. We are also encouraged in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+17:22&version=NLT (Proverbs 17:22) A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength. Consider this your vitamin supplement of cheer for today. So let's jump right in with today's funny which is titled: The Drill Instructor Sergeant Schultz was fresh out of officers training and was appointed drill instructor for an incoming class of recruits for the Marines. The veteran drill instructors were responsible for training the rookie sergeant. They took the Sergent aside and reviewed the drill plans with him. The first rule was that after every command, the recruits must shout back the command and add on “Drill Sergeant” at the end of the command. They also informed the rookie drill sergeant that his recruits must understand the rules for the mess hall. The recruits only have 15 minutes to eat, so they need to shut up, eat up, and then get up. Sergeant Schultz wanted to impress his fellow drill instructors, so he took his training very seriously.  On the first day with his new recruits after the morning revelry, Sergeant Shultz marched his 60 privates into the mess hall for breakfast. Wanting to display his authority, he had them stand in a line and at attention. He then shouted at them this command: “You only have fifteen minutes, so there are three rules in this mess hall: Shut up! Eat up! Get up!” Checking to see that he had everyone's attention, he then shouted, “What is the first rule?” Much to the amusement of the other instructors, 60 privates yelled in unison, “Shut up, Drill Sergeant!” I hope that brought a smile to your face today. If it did pass your smile onto some else, we all could use a kind smile each day. Our Thursday thought is, “Don't worry about being physically fit for the Marines. The drill sergeant has a plan for that.” Here is our verse for today: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Joshua+5%3A13-14&version=NLT (Joshua 5:13-14) When Joshua was near the town of Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with sword in hand. Joshua went up to him and demanded, “Are you friend or foe?”  “Neither one,” he replied. “I am the commander of the Lord's army.” At this, Joshua fell with his face to the ground in reverence. “I am at your command,” Joshua said. “What do you want your servant to do?” Just as you enjoy these nuggets of humor, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' Where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your captain on our journey to increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1535 of our Trek, and it is time for our 3-minute mini trek called Wisdom Unplugged. This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little bit of additional content for today's trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom for today. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from  Dwight L. Moody, and it is:   Joy is love exalted; peace is love in repose; patience is love enduring; gentleness is love in society; goodness is love in action; faith is love on the battlefield; humility is love in school; restraint is love in training.     The Attributes of Love We hear so much about love, but few understand the actual attributes which create true love. Love is not a feeling, although it may cause us to have certain feelings. Love is not something that we fall into, nor out of. Love is a choice, and a choice that must be made every day. How can you know if you are exuding love? Check your life to see if it contains the attributes that makeup love. The quote from today list those attributes. Joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, humility, and restraint. These are closely aligned with the fruit of God's Spirit dwelling within us. If you have God's Spirit, then you should also understand how to love.  Here is a test to know just how passionately you love another person. These are Jesus's words found in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%2015%3A13&version=NLT (John 15:13) There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends. November 15, 2020 | Pastor Nathan Elms Ancient man had every moment of their lives drenched in the sacred. Every day in the week is named after a mythic deity… They were held within the stories they told… We (all of us) live with a set of troubles, disappointments, suffering... We cannot be defined by our troubles... but by our promises... The moment we allow trouble to define us we cease being people of faith, and begin living by sight! It doesn’t matter what others see in you – what does God see? A. You’re not the person you used to be 2 Corinthians 5:17 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Corinthians+5%3A17&version=MSG B. You are the head, not the tail – Lender not the borrower Deuteronomy 28:13 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy+28%3A13&version=MSG C. You’re beloved of God - The apple of His eye D. Chosen before the foundations of the earth E. Sought out and adopted into the beloved F. Sons and daughters of the Most High God G. Seated with Christ in Heavenly Places H. More than a conqueror through Christ I. Blessed with all spiritual blessing God has a big investment in you! You are going to make it through your trials and tests! A curator (from Latin: cura, meaning "to take care") How do you curate your soul? Romans 8:5 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans+8%3A5&version=MSG Matthew 15: 1-20 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+15%3A+1-20&version=MSG 1st Timothy 6:3-14 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Timothy+6%3A3-14&version=MSG Philippians 4:4-8 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Philippians+4%3A4-8+&version=MSG The problem with failing to care for the soul is not that you grow progressively weaker, although you may … it is not that the house falls down around you … it is that when the storm comes, the house collapses.

COVID-19 has exposed a unique set of challenges for everyone, especially women. Join hosts Elisa and Eryn as they discuss their own personal struggles of being worn down during this global pandemic and share some practical tips on how to reground yourself with God. Notes and Quotes:  “This uncertainty is magnifying and pointing out the truth that we truly are not in control of our lives, but He is.” “This time right now has revealed to me how important and precious a quiet time is.” “In the suffering, we can develop endurance and character.” Practical things you can do to ground yourself: journaling; quiet time; a breath prayer; squeeze your hands before Jesus to illustrate your desire for control, and then physically open your hands and lift up your concerns to Him. “When we hold our lives so tightly and love them so hard the way they are, we can end up almost destroying them.” “In this season of uncertainty, I think the [lesson] is to hold things more loosely.” Uncertainty creates anxiety or worry. “Be a ‘we’ team with God.” “Be kind to yourself and to each other. Everybody is stressed.” Links/Books/Resources Mentioned In Show:  Show Notes on godhearsher.org God Hears Her website: https://www.godhearsher.org/ Share the love by giving this episode a 5-star rating on iTunes!  https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/god-hears-her-podcast/id1511046507?utm_source=applemusic&utm_medium=godhearsher&utm_campaign=podcast Order God Sees Her: 365 Devotions for Women by Women on Amazon.  https://amzn.to/32lYSgh Free eBooklet to Download: Overcoming Worry: Turning Fear into Faith. https://discoveryseries.org/courses/overcoming-worry/ Subscribe to the show on your favorite podcast platform. https://www.godhearsher.org/podcast Elisa’s Instagram: elisamorganauthor Eryn’s Instagram: eryneddy Verses Mentioned in Show:  Psalm 121:1–2 NIV “I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? Welcome to Day 1462 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomForgive Your Enemies – Humor UnpluggedWisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge. Welcome to Wisdom-Trek! Where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your Captain on our journey to increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1462 of our Trek, and time for a 3-minute mini-trek called Humor Unplugged. So let's jump right in with today's funny which is titled: Forgive Your EnemiesIn his Sunday sermon, Pastor Sam prepared a fiery sermon, “Forgive Your Enemies,” as his subject. As he was finishing up his sermon, he pleaded with the congregation and asked, “how many are you willing to forgive your enemies?” To Pastor Sam's amazement, only about half of the congregation held up their hands. Not satisfied with the response, Pastor Sam went back into his sermon and harangued the congregation for another twenty minutes and repeated his question, “how many are you willing to forgive your enemies?.” The response was better, but still, only eighty percent of the hands were raised. The lack of response lit a fire in Pastor Sam's belly, and he started back in for fifteen more minutes and repeated his question, “how many are you willing to forgive your enemies?.” Thinking that they may be there all day, everyone raised their hand except for old Mr. Jones in the back pew. “Mr. Jones, are you not willing to forgive your enemies?” “I don't have any enemies, Pastor.” In a bit of a pompous tone, Pastor Sam asked, “Mr. Jones, that is very unusual. How old are you?” “One hundred and one.” Mr. Jones replied. Still not being convinced, Pastor Sam said, “Mr. Jones, please come down in front and tell the congregation how a man can live to be one hundred and one and not have an enemy in the world.” Old Mr. Jones teetered down the aisle, slowly turned to face the congregation, smiled, and said, “I outlived every one of them!”I hope that brought a smile to your face today. If it did pass your smile onto some else, we all could use a kind smile each day. Our Thursday thought is, “https://www.azquotes.com/quote/105824?ref=forgive-your-enemies (The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.)”   Here is our verse for today: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Colossians%203%3A13&version=NLT (Colossians 3:13) Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Just as you enjoy these nuggets of humor, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' If you would like to listen to any of our past 1461 treks or read the Wisdom Journal, they are all available at Wisdom-Trek.com.  I encourage you to subscribe to Wisdom-Trek on your favorite podcast player so that each day will be downloaded to you automatically. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing?
