A Bigger Life Prayer and Bible Devotionals with Pastor Dave Cover
You're reading or praying through the Psalms and you come across one where David prays for terrible things to happen to his enemies. For God to bring disaster upon enemies. And you can't help but think how unChristian this is! “I can't pray for this!” you think to yourself, “Aren't we supposed to https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%205%3A44&version=NIV (pray FOR our enemies) and https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%2012%3A14&version=NIV (BLESS those who curse us)?” That's the subject of this episode. Psalm 109 ESV A PSALM OF DAVID. 1 Be not silent, O God of my praise! 2 For wicked and deceitful mouths are opened against me, speaking against me with lying tongues. 3 They encircle me with words of hate, and attack me without cause. 4 In return for my love they accuse me, but I give myself to prayer. 5 So they reward me evil for good, and hatred for my love. 6 Appoint a wicked man against him; let an accuser stand at his right hand. 7 When he is tried, let him come forth guilty; let his prayer be counted as sin! 8 May his days be few; may another take his office! 9 May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow! 10 May his children wander about and beg, seeking food far from the ruins they inhabit! 11 May the creditor seize all that he has; may strangers plunder the fruits of his toil! 12 Let there be none to extend kindness to him, nor any to pity his fatherless children! 13 May his posterity be cut off; may his name be blotted out in the second generation! 14 May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the LORD, and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out! 15 Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth! 16 For he did not remember to show kindness, but pursued the poor and needy and the brokenhearted, to put them to death. 17 He loved to curse; let curses come upon him! He did not delight in blessing; may it be far from him! 18 He clothed himself with cursing as his coat; may it soak into his body like water, like oil into his bones! 19 May it be like a garment that he wraps around him, like a belt that he puts on every day! 20 May this be the reward of my accusers from the LORD, of those who speak evil against my life! 21 But you, O GOD my Lord, deal on my behalf for your name's sake; because your steadfast love is good, deliver me! 22 For I am poor and needy, and my heart is stricken within me. 23 I am gone like a shadow at evening; I am shaken off like a locust. 24 My knees are weak through fasting; my body has become gaunt, with no fat. 25 I am an object of scorn to my accusers; when they see me, they wag their heads. 26 Help me, O LORD my God! Save me according to your steadfast love! 27 Let them know that this is your hand; you, O LORD, have done it! 28 Let them curse, but you will bless! They arise and are put to shame, but your servant will be glad! 29 May my accusers be clothed with dishonor; may they be wrapped in their own shame as in a cloak! 30 With my mouth I will give great thanks to the LORD; I will praise him in the midst of the throng. 31 For he stands at the right hand of the needy one, to save him from those who condemn his soul to death. 2 Timothy 4:14-18 (ESV) Alexander the coppersmith did me great harm; the Lord will repay him according to his deeds. Beware of him yourself, for he strongly opposed our message. At my first defense no one came to stand by me, but all deserted me. May it not be charged against them! But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion's mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory

Demons don't like to be homeless. On Friday we began looking at unclean spirits, and how Jesus dealt with them. We can see from Luke's Gospel and elsewhere that they look for vacancies - any vacancies. They're always "house hunting," if you will, and that makes them more dangerous than we may have realized. The Lord was warning us, and the nation of Israel: It's one thing to cast out the devil - it's another to keep him out. We'll hear how, as we conclude Pastor Jim's sermon, Demons and Unclean Spirits. God's kingdom isn't fighting a defensive war - Christ is on offense! As we've studied The Life and Work of Dr. Luke, we've noticed some things that Luke alone has preserved and passed on... and some things that he emphasized, like the Lord's respect for women. The good doctor also took note of Jesus' command of the unseen realm; and that's what Jim will bring out today. Satan is compared to a strong man. But a Stronger Man has come on the scene, and He is setting prisoners free. Welcome to Day 1691 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Business Friendship – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today's trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16&version=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! We are on Day 1691 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from John D. Rockefeller, and it is: A friendship founded on business is better than a business founded on friendship. A Business Friendship Based on his success in business, I would say that John D Rockefeller knew a thing or two about business and friendships. It may be that he learned this lesson through a challenging experience of his own. However, from my own experience and observing several others businesses, I know that this quote contains good advice and wisdom. Indeed, one of the quickest ways to harm a friendship is to be a business partner. It can work, but grave errors are often made, and misconceptions flourish when business plans are not thought through before starting. The company must be structured with clearly defined roles and responsibilities for each partner. You should never start a business with 50/50 ownership. Someone has to be the overriding decision-maker. You need to have buy/sell agreements in place if one person wants out or can no longer participate in the business. You may not desire a spouse assuming control in the absence of your partner. Finally, there needs to be strong financial controls to ensure success and determine how any funds are distributed. These principles also apply if your friend and partner is also your spouse. Although working together and owning businesses has worked great for Paula and me, this is not always the case for married couples. It does work well if you are also able to establish trusted partners and friends through your business. That is because all the structure as mentioned above is set up before friendship. Keep in mind that a strong friendship may not result in a good business partnership. These principles assume that if you choose to establish a business partnership with another person or friend, both of you are committed Christ-followers. Otherwise, your business view and worldview may not align effectively. It would be challenging to be successful in business in these conditions. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Corinthians+6%3A14-15&version=NLT (2 Corinthians 6:14-15) Don't team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' Ephesians 3:14-21Prayer for the Readers14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,[a] 15 from whom every family[b] in heaven and on earth takes its name. 16 I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, 17 and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. 18 I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.20 Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Welcome to Day 1642 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomLet Your Life Shine – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek. We are on Day 1642 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from James Keller, and it is: A candle loses nothing of its light by lighting another candle. Let Your Light Shine Based on the philosophy of many individuals, you would think that when attempting to light a candle from another candle, it would completely extinguish the flame of the first candle. Nothing is farther from the truth. When a flame is passed from one to another, it multiplies the overall amount of light exponentially. Compare the light emitted on a birthday cake of a one-year-old to someone who is one hundred. The first is a tiny flicker, and the latter is a bonfire. The same can be said of our lives. When we allow our inner spirit to touch the lives of others, we pass on a flame that continues to grow the more often it is given. When we make it a habit of passing our flame onto many more people, we exponentially enrich many lives. Let's think about this from a different angle. When we allow others to share their sorrow and grief with us, it lessens that sorrow as we divide it among us. But, if we share our blessings with others, it multiplies those blessings, and they become even more remarkable. So never feel that your flame will be diminished by sharing it with others, instead realize that a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle. The fact is, it will exponentially multiply the more we share. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+5%3A14-16&version=NLT (Matthew 5:14-16) “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. There’s got to be more. There’s got to be more to life than simply trying to get ahead, get what we can, and fight for our happiness only to ultimately die and be forgotten. There’s got to be more to following Jesus than being good, having a spiritual high once a week, and waiting to go to heaven. And according to Jesus, there is more… more than we have yet imagined. Some people were not part of the Old Testament picture...but they were always a part of God's plan. We're reading the book of Acts, watching the first expansion of the gospel. And it's reaching people we might call "marginalized" - not reaching them by accident, but by direct command of God the Spirit. And Luke can only record a sliver of all that must have been happening. Philip was a chosen man, a gifted leader, and a powerful preacher...but there were some things he couldn't do. As we leaf through the book of Acts we see ordinary Christians doing extraordinary things. But we also see some privileges reserved for the 12 Apostles, or maybe even for Peter. The organizational chart of the early church didn't have a lot of levels to it - but it wasn't entirely "flat," either. Let's take note of how the Holy Spirit chose to work, during this critical period. Welcome to Day 1609 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomNothing But Ambition – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. Our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on our trek to increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16&version=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! Today is Day 1609 of our Trek, and it's time for another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Brian Tracy, and it is: At least eighty percent of millionaires are self-made. That is, they started with NOTHING but ambition and energy, the same way most of us start. Nothing But Ambition While this quote is about financial success, the same applies to every area of our lives. Most people do not start in life with an abundance of wealth, talents, abilities, intellect, or wisdom. All of these are gained by those who are willing to start with nothing. Through perseverance, ambition, and energy, over a long period, incrementally achieving until they are successful. Those who are eager to put their blood, sweat, and tears into action are those who end up being millionaires, successful in business, excellent in academic achievement, or whatever their calling is, making a significant impact on the world for God's kingdom. Not everyone has the same talents and abilities, but we all have some. God does not expect us to achieve in areas where He has not given us abilities. God does expect us to use the talents and skills that He has given to us thoroughly and for His glory. You may become a millionaire or excel in any number of areas of life, but that is not nearly as important as doing your very best with what God has given you. God does expect us to use what we have been given. It has been said that God does take care of the birds, but he does not throw worms in their nest. They must use the natural abilities that God has given them to find the worms. I believe a parable from Jesus, which he told just a week before being crucified, will sum up our nugget of wisdom for today. The parable is found in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+25%3A14-30&version=NLT (Matthew 25:14-30) “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a man going on a long trip. He called together his servants and entrusted his money to them while he was gone. He gave five bags of silver to one, two bags of silver to another, and one bag of silver to the last—dividing it in proportion to their abilities. He then left on his trip. “The servant who received the five bags of silver began to invest the money and earned five more. The servant with two bags of silver also went to work and earned two more. But the servant who received the one bag of silver dug a hole in the ground and hid the master's money. “After a long time their master returned from his trip and called them to give an account of how they had used his money. The servant to whom he had entrusted the five bags of silver came forward with five more and said, ‘Master, you gave me five bags of silver to invest, and I have earned five more.' “The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful...

Today is Day 1603 of our Trek, and it's time for another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Kahlil Gibran, and it is: Work is love made visible. Visible Love I am not sure when the philosophy or teaching began, but for centuries now, it has been taught either overtly or covertly that certain occupations are more honorable than others. This is especially true for someone in what has been considered “full-time Christian ministry.” Other professions which seem to be held in higher honor are medicine, teaching, emergency services. While each of these professions is important, it is a disservice to every other legal profession available today. Not only is it a disservice, but when we consider our role as Christ-followers working to build God's kingdom, every occupation is a holy calling before God. Because your work is a holy calling, you should love the work regardless of what you do. Being a pastor is honorable, but so is being a server at a fast-food restaurant. Being a doctor is honorable, but so is being a construction worker. In most of the world, fortunately, slavery or indentured servanthood has been made illegal. During much of Biblical times and even up to recent history, slavery was not uncommon for most individuals. When it comes down to it, many occupations worldwide have a similar demand on their workers. So even if you feel oppressed or that you are in a dead-end job, you can still choose to love what you do, because it is an important duty in our quest to continually build God's kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesian church, in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians+6%3A5-8&version=NLT (Ephesians 6:5-8) Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. Try to please them all the time, not just when they are watching you. As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart. Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do, whether we are slaves or free. We should love our work, because it is essential in our service to God. We should have the same attitude in our work as when Mordecai encouraged his cousin Esther who had become queen when the Jews were in exile. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Esther%204%3A14&version=NLT (Esther 4:14) If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” As you ponder this nugget of daily wisdom yourself, I would ask you to please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day
Welcome to Day 1602 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomWaiting to Grow Up – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Sue Monk Kidd, and it is: When you're waiting, you're not doing nothing. You're doing the most important something there is. You're allowing your soul to grow up. If you can't be still and wait, you can't become what God created you to be. Waiting to Grow Up Most of us struggle with waiting for just about anything. We don't like waiting at stoplights, in slow traffic, or even check-out counters while shopping. We are most impatient. We want everything now, including drive-through fast food, banking, and streaming on-demand video. Even for Granny and myself, if a website or program takes too long to load, we get frustrated. I suspect most of you are the same way. We must realize, as difficult as it is, to be patient. When we are waiting, we are not doing nothing. Which means you are doing something while waiting. You are learning that patience is a virtue, although one that is difficult to understand. You are allowing yourself to mature and grow up. Growing in patience displays that you are gaining wisdom and understanding. You are learning that delays and waiting are helpful and necessary. We do not need everything now. Those individuals who are willing to wait are the ones who will succeed in every area of life. It would be best if you put off what you desire now, for what you desire most. To fully mature as an imager of God, we need to be still and wait so that we can grow up and faithfully build God's kingdom each day. Waiting allows us to become what God created destined us to be. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2027%3A14&version=NLT (Psalm 27:14) Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2046%3A10&version=NLT (Psalm 46:10) “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” As you ponder another bit of wisdom from Gramps, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along with us tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' Wednesday Bible study from Dr. Keith Shorter on 01/20/21.2 Corinthians 5:14-15 Visit Us Online
January 3, 2021 | Pastor Nathan Elms On average, we have tens of thousands of thoughts a day, but we don’t register most of them. We tend to ignore the most repetitive, persistent thoughts, such as the ones that take us through our morning grooming ritual or our daily commute. What we do is so driven by habit that we don’t have to think ourselves through every step. To feel how this works, try brushing your teeth with your nondominant hand. Odd, right? In the same manner that we do not think about habitual actions... we have habitual thoughts, that we think about WITHOUT THINKING about it. • The thoughts you think WITHOUT thinking are who you are… • The thoughts you intentionally think are who you want to become... • We can think just like unbelievers… • We can respond to trouble just like unbelievers… • We can deal with pain just like unbelievers… In fact, re-forming how we think about things is one of the most important things about becoming a believer. 9 Biblical Truths 1. “Adulting” can often make us feel bogged down by jobs, parenting, and other community responsibilities, and it can be difficult finding time to “play.” Elisa and Eryn look at the importance of loosening up and having fun, and why that needs to be a priority for all of us. It’s not a waste of time! In fact, we need to be intentional about it. Notes and Quotes: “Why is it that when we get older we quit playing?” “I can think of all the other priorities in my life, but play is not one of them. It feels selfish.” “Maybe another reason we don’t play is because we need to give up a little control.” “The hardest time of my life to play was when I was mothering young children. Because they are always playing, and you want them to, but you don’t have any time to play.” “Try to enjoy play with [your kids], and then try to ask for a break. Ask for a sitter for the kids and go out for girl time or date night. And do something silly!” “I think sometimes we think it’s reckless, and really it’s being faithful to play.” Popcorn ideas of how we can begin to play: Do something you have never done! Take a pottery class. Learn to knit. Try oil painting. Be present. Play with your kids. Try to say, “Yes.” Get out in nature. Car karaoke. “Play is for the very young. And when we are young, we aren’t scared to play. To play as an adult is to become yielded and vulnerable and open and exposed, and that is dangerous. We have learned we can be hurt in that condition.” “Doesn’t God delight in that vulnerability when we expose ourselves to His love?” Links/Books/Resources Mentioned In Show: Show Notes on godhearsher.org God Hears Her website: https://www.godhearsher.org/ Subscribe on iTunes! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/god-hears-her-podcast/id1511046507?utm_source=applemusic&utm_medium=godhearsher&utm_campaign=podcast Download free lock screen: https://www.godhearsher.org/ Elisa’s Instagram: @elisamorganauthor Eryn’s Instagram: @eryneddy Verses Mentioned in Show: Matthew 19:14 NIV “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%2019%3A14&version=NIV Ecclesiastes 3:4 NIV “A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.” https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ecclesiastes%203%3A4&version=NIV
* Don’t Profane my Huddle: Bob & co-host Doug McBurney thank Heaven for Tim Tebow and the story of his refusal to use the profanity that the other New York Jets baked into the play-calling! * Shaking the Treehouse: With conservative news and commentary site “The Conservative Treehouse” being deplatformed off Wordpress, Bob delves into the reality of what censorship is in this day and age (and why true Christian conservative outlets might not survive it). * Statistics and Lies: Bob discusses an upcoming interview with a computer data security analyst, the anomalous (and obviously stolen) election, and the possibility that because so much software was involved, that proof of the fraud may become irrefutable, (and why that might not matter anyway). * Prayer Meeting or Political Rally: We know that RE-publican politicians use the Bible, (specifically 2 Chronicles 7:14) to gin up the base during election season. Bob points out that this misuse of the Bible is actually hurtful to persecuted Christians around the world. * Another Victim of the “Just-A-System”: Houston Police Sargent Sean Rios has been murdered in Texas by serial offender Robert Soliz. Today's resource:Spiritual Growth Pack: Christians sometimes need a push forward to grow spiritually. After forty years as a Christian, these teachings represent my best effort at discipling another Christian to mature in his or her relationship with God: The Plot presents an amazing overview of the whole Bible story. The Tree leads a believer into a deeper relationship with God. Predestination & Free Will will help the believer better understand God and reality. Bible Tour of Israel brings the viewer along on our trip to Israel and celebrates much of what he has already learned reinforcing the key spiritual truths! So many believers have said that their understanding of the Bible has grown greatly and their spiritual lives have matured as they have benefited from these four teaching materials. Welcome to Day 1520 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomNo Darkness, Loneliness, or Abandonment – Wisdom UnpluggedWisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge. Welcome to Wisdom-Trek! Where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your captain on our journey to increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1520 of our Trek, and it is time for our 3-minute mini trek called Wisdom Unplugged. This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little bit of additional content for today's trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom for today. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Charles Kingsley, and it is: It is not darkness you are going to, for God is light. It is not lonely, for Christ is with you. It is not an unknown country, for Christ is there. No Darkness, Loneliness, or Abandonment During times like we face throughout the entire world with the pandemic, unrest, and polarization between people, we may feel that we are shrouded in darkness, in loneliness, and that the world is a bit unstable. From a purely humanistic perspective, there is some truth to this. As a Christ-follower, we have no reason to feel in this manner. First, we are part of God's kingdom which will last forever. We do not need to depend on earthly government structures for our security. We are sojourners in this world, as citizens of an eternal dwelling. We do not need to feel lonely, because we are one with Christ who promises never to leave us or forsake us. We don't need to be shrouded in this world's darkness because God has created all the lights of heaven, illuminating our hearts. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=James%201%3A17&version=NLT (James 1:17) Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews%2013%3A5&version=NLT (Hebrews 13:5) Don't love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews%2013%3A14&version=NLT (Hebrews 13:14) For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come. Welcome to Day 1518 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomCrafting a Futuristic Exponential Mindset – Ask GrampsWisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge. Today is Day 1518 of our Trek, and our focus on Fridays is the future technological and societal advances, so we call it Futuristic Fridays. My personality is one that has always been very future-oriented. Since my childhood, I have yearned for the exploration and discovery of new technologies and advancements for the future. I grew up with the original Star Trek series, and even today, as I am now on my 65th revolution around the sun, I still dream of traveling in space. Each week we will explore rapidly converging technologies and advancements, which will radically change our lives. At times, the topics may sound like something out of a science fiction novel, but each area that we explore is already well on its way to becoming a reality over the next couple of decades. To keep with our theme of “Ask Gramps,” I will put our weekly topics in the form of a question to get us on track. This week's question is, Hey Gramps, another type of mindset you mentioned a couple of weeks ago is an exponential mindset. What is an exponential mindset, and how can I craft an exponential mindset? Crafting a Futuristic Exponential Mindset Last week I explored some data that will back up why we should have a Futuristic Abundance Mindset. This week we will look at how to have an exponential mindset. I am using some of the information mentioned in Peter Diamandis's blogs and book “The Future is Faster Than You Think.” Do you have an Exponential Mindset? What is an Exponential Mindset? That's our conversation today… We'll discuss the advantages of having an Exponential Mindset and how it can benefit your business and life. Our brains, the 100 billion neurons, and 100 trillion synaptic connections that shape everything we think and do. God created us as His masterpiece. As we read in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%20139%3A14&version=NLT (Psalm 139:14), Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. For all of civilization, we are primarily “local and linear.” That is to say, we think locally and linearly. We are linear thinkers. So, here's an experiment. I will ask you a question, and then you can try with your kids or grandkids. Choose between the following: Option #1: I give you $1 per day for the next 30 days; Or Option #2: I give you a penny on the first day, two cents on the second day, four cents on the third day, eight cents on the fourth day, and continue to double it each day for 30 days. Ok – within 10 seconds, choose. Obviously, option #1 nets you $30… easy to predict, the definition of linear. But option #2, where we are doubling - that is to say, growing exponentially, goes from deceptive to disruptive. After the first five days (1, 2, 4, 8, 16 cents) net you just 31 cents -- it's deceptively dismal. But after 30 doublings, the situation gets disruptive… now we've increased the payout that will quickly reach a billionfold… So if you, your kids, or grandkids choose option #2, they would end up with a payout of $10,737,418.24 in 30 days and $171,798,691.84 in 34 days! That's the promise and power of exponential growth! One of our biggest challenges as entrepreneurs is to train our brains to think exponentially. This isn't easy to do. But it's...
Welcome to Day 1515 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomReality – Wisdom UnpluggedWisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge. Welcome to Wisdom-Trek where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your captain on our journey to increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1515 of our trek, and it is time for our 3-minute mini trek called Wisdom Unplugged. This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little bit of additional content for today's trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom for today. So let's jump right in with today's nugget. Today's quote is from Simon Tugwell, and it is, "It is God's will that is the proper measure of reality, and that is expressed in Christ, who is His will." Reality In today's pandemic driven, politically charged world where you see conspiracy theories, questionable news sources on all sides, and the unhinging of society as we perceived it, what we thought was reality seems to be slipping away. I have to admit; I also have to be very careful that I do not get sucked down the cesspool that drives much of the world's agenda today. It seems like many across the world are sliding down a slippery slope toward insanity. It is times like these in which we need a steady stream of reality for our lives. Reality can only come through a Biblical worldview. That is to say, all of that we see, hear, taste, touch, and experience must be filtered through God's Word and the precepts of truth that are found therein. We must learn to stop the fire-hydrant of false narrative and information which threatens to drown us. Through God's will, which is located in God's Word, we can maintain a firm grip on reality and not be swayed by every wind of false doctrine. God's will was expressed in human form through Jesus Christ in whom we should ground our reality. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians+4%3A14-16&version=NLT (Ephesians 4:14-16) Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won't be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. That's a wrap for today's Wisdom Unplugged quote. Are you saying “Come faster Lord Jesus?” The question is this: do you want to see Jesus as much as Jesus wants to see you? Churches today are living for something else other than the second coming of Jesus. It was also a problem in the first century. The Book of Revelation is the letters of Revelation written to seven specific churches. Each one of these churches was living for something else other than the second return of Jesus. These were second and third generation Christians who had begun to lose their flame of passion for Christ. As a result, they weren't looking forward to Jesus coming back again. By the end of the Letter of Revelation, they are saying with the Holy Spirit: "Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus." (Revelation 22:20) Jesus wants to take you and I in the 21st century church on the very same journey to get over being heaven proof till we say come quickly. Lord Jesus. There's a repeated line in the seven letters where Jesus says “Whoever has ears, let them hear what the spirit says to the churches.” (Revelation 2:29) Why does Jesus repeat that seven times? The answer is in the very last chapter of Revelation, where "the Spirit and the bride say Come." (Revelation 22:17).________________Scripture https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Revelation+3%3A14-22&version=NIV&interface=print_____________View the ENTIRE TALK on “COME FASTER JESUS” https://youtu.be/bu9IFP5g284View the WHOLE SERIES on the BOOK of REVELATION called HEAVEN HELP US! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_fgB8bCiMoIOyUITlxoWTNpkyUNewk6QWhat is the PeopleMagnet.School? https://youtu.be/esP9B62gYA4 Read how to do SOAP Devotions https://evergreenchurch.tv/habit/devotion Watch how to do SOAP Devotions https://youtu.be/HbTYqzARL38________________Find the PeopleMagnet.School on all your favorite platforms https://linktr.ee/peoplemagnetschoolSubscribe on YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWmFLtqFcIHOYZt-xyM1OJg Subscribe on Apple Podcastshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/people-magnet-school/id1505275403 Subscribe on Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/2tHekDtpRRUetgmpmm4rBJ Like on Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/peoplemagnetschool Follow on Instagram @PeopleMagnetSchoolFollow Phil McCallum on Social Media Facebook https://www.facebook.com/philmccallum Instagram @philipmccallum Linkedin https://www.Linkedin.com/in/PhilMccallum Twitter @PhilipMcCallum

What does it mean when we say, "He went to his rest?" There are different levels of rest we can experience - different dimensions of the safety and peace and grace that God offers. In death, Christians believe, we will find a new fullness of rest. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. On Thursday Jim mentioned 4 "messengers" of rest: Noah, Moses, David, and Jesus - and the last 2 are different. Here's the conclusion of, Discovering God's Rest for Today. Listen to Right Start Radio every Monday through Friday on WCVX 1160AM (Cincinnati, OH) at 9:30am, WHKC 91.5FM (Columbus, OH) at 5:00pm, WRFD 880AM (Columbus, OH) at 9:00am and WRZN 720AM (Gainesville & Ocala, FL) at 7:30am. Who are the all-time world champions of Rest? The Bible records the accomplishments of at least four leaders, advocates, heroes of rest. Each of these trailblazers reveals something different about the nature of God's rest, but they all agree, there's only one way to enter into it. We'll learn about 3 of the 4 "resting champions" now. Jim's new sermon is called, Discovering God's Rest for Today. “Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.” – Ephesians 3:17
James 2:14 is an important text, but it is often misused. Pastor Mike discusses works as evidence and fruit, never as the condition of salvation.
God can give you love and spiritual strength beyond what you have, beyond what you need.
A lot of churches are too "nice" to tell the truth. We should always "speak the truth in love," of course, but as soon as we claim that truth exists, and we know what it is, and that other things are false - we meet with resistance in a world of lies. On Friday Jim started teaching from 1 Timothy, Chapter 3, where Paul uses three analogies to show us what the church is, and what it's supposed to do. It is God's "house," God's "assembly," and "the pillar and support of the truth." What is the church? Why does it exist? What is its main mission? I'm not going to answer those questions; Jim is - or rather, the Apostle Paul is. We've closed the book of Daniel, and today and Monday we'll be reading from the New Testament letter of 1 Timothy. In our day when the Adversary has blown so much smoke around the core issues of Christianity, it's comforting to know that these are not new challenges, and they do have answers. Here's Jim with Part 1 his sermon, Billboard for Godliness. Welcome to Day 1442 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomSpank Him Again – Humor UnpluggedWisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge. Welcome to Wisdom-Trek! Where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your Captain on our journey to increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1442 of our Trek, and time for a 3-minute mini-trek called Humor Unplugged. Our Thursday podcast will provide a short and clean funny story to help you lighten up and live a rich and satisfying life. Something to cheer you and give a bit a levity in your life. We are told in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+15:30&version=NLT (Proverbs 15:30) A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health. We are also encouraged in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+17:22&version=NLT (Proverbs 17:22) A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength. Consider this your vitamin supplement of cheer for today. So let's jump right in with today's funny which is titled: Spank Him AgainJohn was out of town on a business trip, which he was due to return from in a couple of days. This was the last trip he was planning until after their soon to arrive 2nd child was born, which wasn't due for at least another week. As fate would have it, the baby had not received the message and decided to arrive early. That night at about 3:00 A.M., John's wife Heidi woke up with labor pains, and her water broke soon after that. If that wasn't concern enough, as she was trying to figure out what to do, the power in the city went off. Heidi woke their 3-year-old daughter, Katelyn, and tried to explain that her new little brother was going to arrive soon, and that she needed her to help out in any manner possible. Knowing It was late at night, and being home was home only with Katelyn, Heidi decided to call 911. Due to a power outage in the city at the time, only one paramedic was able to respond to the call. Heidi unlocked the front door and decided that she best stay in her bed after that, since the labor pains were very intense. When the paramedic arrived, she let herself in as the dispatch instructed him. The house was very, very dark, so the paramedic asked little Katelyn to hold a flashlight high over her mommy so she could see while she helped deliver the baby. Very diligently, Katelyn did as she was asked. Heidi pushed and pushed, and after a little while, Connor was born. The paramedic lifted him by his feet, and spanked him on his bottom. Connor began to cry. The paramedic wrapped Connor snuggly in a blanket and handed him to Heidi. The paramedic then thanked Katelyn for her help, and asked the wide-eyed 3-year-old Katelyn what she thought about what she had just witnessed. Katelyn quickly responded, “He shouldn't have crawled in there in the first place. Spank him again.” I hope that brought a smile to your face today. If it did pass your smile onto some else, we all could use a kind smile each day. Our Thursday thought is, “Parenthood is the scariest “hood” you will ever be in.” Here is our verse for today: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%20139%3A14&version=NLT (Psalm 139:14) Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. Just as you enjoy these nuggets of humor, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' If you would like to listen to any of our past 1441 treks or read the
People don't like snakes. Does God feel about sin the way we feel about snakes? Does it make His skin crawl, so to speak? Could be. There's no denying the scriptural link between serpents and sin...and Jesus used that symbolism to make a point about Himself. Yesterday we looked at the book of Numbers, and the origin of the bronze serpent of Moses. Today Jim will finish his sermon called, Just a Look. God told His people "No graven images." But there was that one time.... When the Lord told Moses to make a bronze serpent, He didn't want anyone praying to it - or worshiping it. He just wanted them to look. And those who looked would not perish from the venom of the other kind of serpent.
