Ben Doran messaged on Facebook: “When I received the "music only version" of the "The Gaelic Blessing" podcast, I was immediately reminded of one of the most moving arrangements of The Irish Blessing that I have heard  -  - by Bill O'Connor and Larry Theiss on their – "Traditional And Original" recording. I am getting ready to have a day off tomorrow and will  get to chores and baking for the "Wild Hog in the Woods" usual Friday night concert that we host at a neighborhood center here in Madison. While I am mixing and baking, I'll surely/certainly listen to that "Gaelic Blessing" program in its entirety. Thanks!” Ryan S. emailed some photos: "Hi Marc. I love the Celtic Women episodes!! I am currently building trails outside of austin while I listen to the cast.the spring flowers are already out!" Shel O'Toole emailed a photo: "Hi Marc, As I'm listening today I'm promoting the International Women's Day event I organised for the Ballarat and District Irish Association. The all women trio I play with, Skedaddle is performing on the day.   I'm also looking at ways to promote my newly released poetry book Wildsong. I'll be officially launching it at the IWD lunch. I'm loving the Celtic Women special. There's so many fabulous Irish women singers and musicians. Noirin Ni Rian, the sean - ós singer and chanter, Sandra Joyce singer and bodhran player are two amazing teachers I met at the Irish World Music Summer School  - Blas, many years ago.  Niamh Parsons & Delores Keane are firm favourites & I love discovering new  female artists. I'll probably go to a session on St Patrick's day and there's a band playing at one of the Irish pubs in the evening I want to see. Sliánte"

Listen as Kevin leads you through a traditional Irish blessing to encourage you on your path of self-discovery. Kevin:May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. The rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. May God be with you and bless you. May you see your children's children. May you be poor and misfortune, rich in blessings. May you know nothing but happiness from this day forward. May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home. And may the land of a friend always be near. May green be the grass you walk on. May blue be the skies above you. May pure be the joys that surround you. May true be the hearts that love you. Amen.

On today's episode, I share an unexpected encounter in Dublin, Ireland that I'm calling An Irish Blessing. It occurred on the Grattan Bridge, one of the few bridges over the River Liffey that had benches. I had just finished reading Michelle Obama's book “The Light We Carry” when a man kindly asked if he could sit on the end of my bench. Unintentionally, we both participated in a social experiment, which broke the ice for him to share his life story. I was blessed by his humility, vulnerability and gratitude. I blessed him with my interest and compassion. We carried our light, shared our light and helped shine light into the world. May you be open to your version of An Irish Blessing. Enjoy the podcast! “We feel it's no coincidence that hotel came up for sale. We were determined to decorate it, to renovate it, in a way that reflects the spirit of Dorthy and the elegance of the Festival.” We're in great company with Richard & Eibhlin Henggeler, owners of The Rose Hotel, in Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland. Now, before they took on this hotel as a labor of love, I must share my personal connection with and admiration for the Henggeler family. Eibhlin, who to me will always be Mrs. Henggeler, was one of my favorite elementary school teachers growing up outside of Baltimore, MD. We held a special bond, that of an Irish Celtic Knot one could say, because as my younger sisters and I traveled the country and soon the world, competing in and performing Irish Dance, Mrs. Henggeler was always the one to approve of our absent papers and to be there every year without fail, watching us dance in the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, while her daughter Dott proudly represented The Rose of Tralee. Now many years have gone by and while the Henggeler's have faced many hardships, their love for their Irish heritage and the relationships like ours, that have blossomed as a result, are stronger than ever. For this episode, I'd like to honor Dorthy's spirit with an Irish Blessing, "May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you." Top Takeaways [2:20] From pen pals to a proposal, Dick shares how he fell in love with Eibhlin, her family, and her home in Ireland. [6:45] Eibhlin explains how over time she's honored her Irish heritage by staying closely tied to family, football and of course, Irish dancing. [8:30] What about The Rose of Tralee International Festival changed the Henggeler family's lives and inspired their legacy. [14:45] When The Fels Point Hotel went up for sale, Dick and Eibhlin were determined to restore it in a way that reflected the spirit of their Dorthy and the elegance of the Festival. [24:00] Wanting to create a true family atmosphere, Dick thought it would be a good idea to bring the tradition of an American Thanksgiving to a hotel in Ireland and what resulted was… [33:45] Whether you enjoy a spa day while sipping on afternoon tea or watching a football match cozied up to Dott's Bar, everyone is welcome! [40:40] Eibhlin shares what she believes Dott would be most proud of in seeing The Rose Hotel and all that it embodies today. [45:05] What it's like to walk down the cobblestone streets of Tralee, listening to traditional Irish music and meeting the Irish people. [57:10] The meaning of St. Patrick's Day as an immigrant, celebrating the culture of a small little island with people around the world. Welcome to Day 1707 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Good Memory – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1707 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.   Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today's trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16&version=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver!    If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Irish Blessing, and it is: A good memory is one that can remember the day's blessings and forget the day's troubles. A Good Memory Some people have the ability to remember the past with vivid clarity, while others have difficulty remembering the last five minutes. Most of us are somewhere in between. There are three basic personalities that I think play a part in this. Those who make decisions based on the past, those who make decisions based on their current situation, and those who are more forward-looking and decide what they perceive the future will hold. I have to admit, I am very much a forward thinker and tend to be very optimistic when viewing the past, present, and future. I tend to remember the day's blessings and forget the day's troubles. While I try to be realistic in my assessment of life and the future, I don't want to create any unnecessary roadblocks that impede the potential for the future. We can learn from the past, but we cannot change it. Regardless of how difficult the past has been, it does not have to be our future. I know certain personality types deal with life differently, but it is also based on the choices we make from this day forward. Let us choose to remember the day's blessings and dwell on them while minimizing the day's troubles because they are behind us. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Philippians%203%3A12%2D14&version=NLT (Philippians 3:12-14) I don't mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' If you would like to listen to any of our past 1706 treks or read the Wisdom Journal, they are available at Wisdom-Trek.com. I encourage you to subscribe to Wisdom-Trek on your favorite podcast player so that each day's trek will be downloaded automatically. If you have not done so, please consider giving us a five-star rating so that others will also join us in mining our nuggets of wisdom. Thank you so much for allowing me to be your guide, mentor, and, most of all, your friend as I serve you through this Wisdom-Trek podcast and journal. As we take this Trek together, let us always: Live Abundantly (Fully) Love Unconditionally Listen Intentionally Learn Continuously Lend to others Generously Lead with...

The Bible tells us that, to build a truly loving community, we must be ready to forgive when we've been hurt by the actions of others - and that's everything from petty insults to the killing of someone we love. This week we tackle the big questions - is it really possible to truly forgive - and why should we even try? To find some answers we have a look at the Bible, and then go back to a remarkable conversation with retired Isle of Man Chief Constable Robin Oake, who stunned everyone when he said he forgave the killer of his son, Detective Constable Stephen Oake, who was stabbed through the heart during the arrest of a suspected terrorist in Manchester in 2003 - at the time of Stephen's murder, he was just 40, married with 3 young children, and had been in the Police Force for nearly 20 years. As the Island's different denominations consider the best use of their church buildings, the Rt Reverend Paul Bayes, Anglican Bishop of Liverpool, offers some encouragement on unity - Phil Craine de-mystifies prayer with a lovely poem - and there's a great mix of music, from traditional hymn to Latin chant - and an Irish Blessing! If you'd like to choose your favourite hymn or sacred music (and maybe dedicate it to someone who listens along with you?) email me - I'd love to hear from you. judithley@manxradio.com

I'm a college professor and screenwriter and have recently completed a feature female-driven adventure screenplay that incorporates aspects of Scottish folklore. It's called The Storm King and is about Skye Blackwood, the 18-year-old reluctant successor to a remote village’s leader. She's forced to take up the mantle when the adults of her community, including her older brother, abruptly vanish, pushing her to set out with a ramshackle team to find them and become the leader she never wanted to be. The script recently made the top 10% of the Academy Nicholl Screenwriting Fellowships, which is a top screenwriting competition. I'm excited!
