The lady's website is here. This podcast deals with the profound arrogance, hypocrisy and inhumanity of new atheism as well as once again highlighting the historic fault lines in the chaos of the Church that we believe perfectly explain why a self-identifying ex-'Christian'-cum-atheist can think and type like this.American Lady, we have been robust but we continue to be willing to speak personally if you will desist with the accusations. Having an incredibly original voice as a leftist comedian, our guest: Jamie Kilstein, has spearheaded a subculture of comedy fans and socially aware youth and has primed himself to become the voice of a generation. He's crafted a beat poetry inspired performance style laced with socio/political activism, and riddled with progressive politics and the chaos of contemporary culture. Additionally, he's a Marcelo Garcia trained Jiu Jitsu brown belt and Muay Thai fighter! In this episode we discuss the notorious roller coaster of emotions many comedians experience throughout their careers. Jamie dives deep into his own struggle with depression and how both jiu jitsu and comedy quite literally saved his life. An amazing conversation with a humanist that goes by the sobriquet ”Angry Atheist”. In this episode, It wasn't a fight about if your supreme being exists; that was left to your doubts! It was about being a free thinker, breaking free from domesticated religious beliefs, and how to be fully human. This is aimed to bring you out of the stifling insularity of your existence. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/talk-with-todah/message

Freethought discussion with Larry, Wombat, and Joshua.
Should Christians who believe in "young earth creation" be threatened by the notion of ancient civilizations that predate all major world religions? Only if their own worldview is so narrowly restricted with a literalist reading of the Bible. In the second half of my conversation with Andrew Gurevich of Portland, OR, we somehow tie together: apophatic theology, neurology, politics on the right and left, and paleolithic cave art. How is this possible? I'm not entirely sure myself, but somehow Andrew is able to tie all those seemingly diverse threads together and make it work.
How does a person go from evangelical Christian, studying at Bible college and seminary, to becoming an angry atheist and now an expert in paleolithic cave art? Believe it or not, this trajectory describes the life of this week's guest: Andrew Gurevich of Portland, OR, USA. A leading mythologist and teacher of world religions, Andrew is fast becoming an expert on not just ancient cave art, but also explores the connections between humanity, religion, spirituality, politics, and tribalism. In this first half, Andrew talks about his upbringing and how it's all come full-circle somehow, in this process of becoming who he is.
#87: Muslim Travel Ban and An Angry Atheist On this holiday weekend, Cellar Door Skeptics pushes out the episode early in celebration of the last Fourth of July under Donald Trump. Today the episode will discuss the supreme courts decision to allow for some of the travel ban to go into effect. The duo look at the Scotus opinion from the judges and analyze if the courts have over stepped their boundaries again. Cellar Door Skeptics then brought back Matt Chapman to talk about the angry atheist trope. They decided it would be a good segment to do given the holiday season. Many people have to suffer through family functions and get accused of being angry at religion. And after last weeks scathing episode on the latest Scotus downfall allowing for a private school to get government funds for their religious school, they had to address why they were not angry at Christians but at a failure of government. #MuslimBan #AngryAtheist #Scotus #Christian #DonaldTrump #IndependenceDay #4thofJuly Subscribe: http://www.spreaker.com/user/cellardoorskeptics Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CellarDoorSkeptics RSS Feed: https://www.spreaker.com/user/8326690/episodes/feed iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/cellar-door-skeptics/id1044088575?mt=2&ign-mpt=uo%3D4 Website: http://cellardoorskeptics.com Stitcher: http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/cellar-door-skeptics Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/cellardoorskeptics PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/CellarDoorSkeptics Intro Music: http://aloststateofmind.com/ Links ------ http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/26/politics/travel-ban-supreme-court/index.html https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/16pdf/16-1436_l6hc.pdf http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/jurisprudence/2017/06/how_the_supreme_court_paved_the_way_for_trump_s_muslim_ban.html http://www.scotusblog.com/2017/06/justices-agree-weigh-travel-ban-allow-parts-go-effect/ ------ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fundamental_attribution_error http://gretachristina.typepad.com/greta_christinas_weblog/2007/10/atheists-and-an.html http://educateinspirechange.org/spirituality/10-signs-personality-intimidating-others-never-tolerate-7/ ------ https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/matt2000/starship-awesome-3000 https://www.starshipawesome.com

I hear so often that the angry atheist isn't helping the movement. Being angry doesn't help our position or cause. It doesn't push the conversation forward. It doesn't help move people away from faith or belief. It only serves to fortify the religious in their rut of superstitious ideas. Or does it? When I was a believer, I got angry at all the caustic atheists, and wanted to prove them wrong. Doing so moved me to atheism. I realized that the jerk may be a jerk, but he was also right. Let's talk about the different ways people talk about atheism and within the atheism movement. Are the mean, angry atheists helping? Plus your calls. Let the awesomeness wash over you.
