Show NotesWe welcome again our great friend John Nelson as our guest. John has started an excellent academic blog, “Behind the Gospels”, which we discuss at length. We cover individual issues that John has covered, especially whether Matthew the disciple was the author of Matthews Gospel. We couldn't hold back from asking about some hot topics, such as whether ‘John' knew the synoptic gospels or ‘Luke' had read Josephus. The discussion also extended to wider issues like the cultural influences behind the Gospels, what we can say on the degree of factual material in them and the authority that traditions about Jesus's words and deeds may have held in the period before the gospels were written. Links:www.BehindtheGospels.com Doubts Aloud Links:Please give feedback and ask questions using:  doubtsaloud@gmail.com

You want to give generously to your church, but your non-believing spouse objects. What do you do?We occasionally get that question, and it's a situation that must be handled with care. If you or someone you know is in that position, don't miss today's program, as Ron Blue is here with some sage advice.Ron Blue is the co-founder of Kingdom Advisors and the author of many books on biblical finance, most notably “Master Your Money: A Step-by-Step Plan for Experiencing Financial Contentment.”Biblical Principles for Giving in MarriageThere are two key biblical principles to consider when navigating giving disagreements in marriage:Marriage is more important than money. While generosity is an important biblical value, unity in marriage takes precedence. Submission and honor in marriage matter. Ephesians 5:21 reminds us to “submit to one another out of reverence for Christ,” emphasizing mutual respect in financial decisions. Likewise, Matthew 19:6 affirms that a husband and wife “are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”Ultimately, financial decisions—including giving—should be made together, with mutual understanding and agreement.Ron's Personal Story: When His Wife Wanted to TitheRon has firsthand experience with this issue. When his wife, Judy, became a Christian, she wanted to tithe. But at the time, Ron was not a believer and giving was the last thing on his mind.Instead of forcing the issue, Judy decided to remain silent about it for two years. However, she lived a transformed life, which was compelling to Ron. Her quiet witness ultimately softened his heart and led him to faith in Christ. This aligns with the biblical wisdom of 1 Peter 3:1-2, which encourages wives to live in such a way that they may win their husbands to Christ “without a word, by the conduct of their wives, when they see your respectful and pure conduct.”Judy's patient, godly approach allowed Ron to come to faith in his own time, and ultimately, they found joy in giving together.Building Unity in Giving as a CoupleOnce Ron became a Christian, he and Judy intentionally set aside time to align their financial goals—including giving. Twice a year, they would take a weekend away to pray, discuss their finances, and determine their giving goals.Ron's perspective on giving is clear:The tithe is a starting point. Giving should go beyond the tithe, as generosity is a way to break the grip of money on our hearts. Giving should be joyful and unified. When spouses give together in agreement, it becomes a source of great joy.As Ron says, “The only way you can break the power of money is to give.”Practical Steps for Couples Navigating Giving DisagreementsIf you and your spouse are struggling to agree on giving, consider these steps:Prioritize your marriage. Remember, God values unity in your relationship more than any specific financial contribution. Listen openly. Take time to truly hear your spouse's concerns and seek to understand their perspective. Share why giving is important to you. Explain what generosity means to you personally and spiritually. Find a giving framework you both can support. This might mean starting small, gradually increasing giving over time, or designating funds for causes you both agree on.At the end of the day, God doesn't need our money—He wants our hearts. And He wants our marriages to reflect His love and unity. If you and your spouse are wrestling with this issue, focus first on fostering understanding and alignment. When you give together with a joyful heart, the blessing is even greater. If you'd like to read more on this topic, Ron Blue's full article on this subject is featured in our new quarterly publication, Faithful Steward. He was forced to resign, and they slandered his name. We only have $300 left and had a small business loan. What should we do?I received a letter in the mail stating that my student loans were put on some kind of permanent disability that I had never applied for. The letter mentioned being affiliated with a teacher, but I'm not a teacher. I don't know if this is a scam or if it's legitimate. What should I do?I'm calling to learn how to help my 20-year-old granddaughter start building credit. She needs to get a credit card and establish a credit history to buy a car in the fall. She works full-time but doesn't have any credit history yet. What's the best way for her to start building credit?I'm 55 years old and plan to retire in about 10 years. I recently filed an insurance claim for roof damage from a hurricane, but the claim was denied. Should I use the money in a money market account to replace the roof, or should I get an equity loan from the bank to pay for it?Resources Mentioned:Faithful Steward: FaithFi's New Quarterly PublicationBankrate | NerdWalletAnnualCreditReport.comLook At The Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and AnxietyRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA) or Certified Christian Financial Counselor (CertCFC)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions most days at (800) 525-7000. According to Schellenberg's argument from Divine Hiddenness, a nonresistant nonbeliever is, simply put, somebody who fails to believe in God in such a way that the failure is not itself the result of resistant self-deception. A key premise of the divine hiddenness argument just is the claim that such persons exist and/or have existed in the past. For most people, this premise will appear obvious and this appearance likely the result of their connections and communications with other people. People they know and understand. People they trust and respect. On the other hand, some people claim to be skeptical about this premise. Can we really know that these nonbelievers aren't resisting? To answer these questions, we've got to take a closer look at Schellenberg's concept of the nonresistant nonbeliever.

"Hello! My name is Abigail Eliza. I wear all the hats for Back Again, Back Again – if there's something happening in the show, that's me doing it! Back Again, Back Again is a narrative portal fantasy about ex-prophecy children, the end of adventures, and queer girls with swords. It follows the story of Ilyaas, who, on the night of her seventeenth birthday, gets portal-magicked away to a world called Rhysea – where she is told that she is part of a prophecy to save the country. The podcast picks up at the traditional end of all ""portal fantasy"" stories: prophecy completed, Ilyaas must readjust to the ""real world"" while still remembering everything she's seen. This is season two, episode four – Nonbeliever. In this episode, the king's palace has just been raided by the rebels (called the fretim in the show), rescuing Ilyaas and Rhia. However, Ilyaas has spent the entirety of the first season on the side of the kings due to a lack of information and an inability to understand the common language, Rhysean, something that also comes up a lot in this episode. Ilyaas, who mostly speaks English, is having to work all of her thoughts into a language she is, objectively, pretty shit at. Callia, who speaks not only Rhysean but a few of its dialects, has very little patience for this, especially as she mostly still views Ilyaas as a traitor. Ilyaas thinks Callia is a part of the big prophecy in Rhysea. Callia doesn't really think of Ilyaas at all, if she can help it. The Rhysean that you hear happening in the show – especially in this episode – is a conlang that I created for the sake of the show. As someone who works in foreign language learning and teaching, the politics of language are everywhere, and it's really cool to be able to explore them in a fantasy world. Thank you so much for listening – or, as we say in Rhysea, gratinoc!" cw: Small descriptions of violence, swearing Transcript can be found at: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1F3ICVjRpHNhfYp0wlks48uhhQ_-UxLUYp7vvGkG3_D8/edit https://backagainpodcast.wixsite.com/home Socials: backagainpodcast on both!

“Racism is the belief that groups of humans possess different behavioral traits corresponding to inherited attributes and can be divided based on the superiority of one race over another.[1][2][3] It may also mean prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against other people because they are of a different race or ethnicity.[2] Modern variants of racism are often based in social perceptions of biological differences between peoples. These views can take the form of social actions, practices or beliefs, or political systems in which different races are ranked as inherently superior or inferior to each other, based on presumed shared inheritable traits, abilities, or qualities.[2][3] “ “It is reasonable to ask what the characteristics of a true religion might be expected to be, and then compare Christianity against those expectations. This is not an unfair thing to do because, like other religions, Christianity purports to possess characteristics that can pertain only to an institution appointed by God. The following list contains some of the characteristics that Christians have claimed for their faith, and that a disinterested observer might reasonably expect the one true religion to possess*: The tenets, doctrines and practices of the religion should be distinctive and original. The tenets, doctrines and practices of the religion should be clear and unambiguous. Doctrines should be free from error. The religion should be internally consistent. Doctrines should not be contradictory or lead to absurd or irrational conclusions, nor depend upon irrational arguments. The religion should be unchanging and not culturally determined. Access to the religion should be equally available to all people. The religion should be fair. It should not favour any one group of people or put another at a disadvantage. Adherents should be united in their divinely inspired belief. In other words they should all believe the same things. The one true religion might be expected to be noticeably superior to other, false, religions. It should be possible to distinguish the one true religion from other belief systems. The religion should be a force for good in the world. The religion should not be intellectually dishonest. In the links above, each of these attributes are assessed against the record of Christianity. The end result is that Christianity dismally failed the test. It fails to rise above other religions in a fashion that would suggest that it is a true religion. Rather it contains all of the hallmarks of a man-made belief system.” The books of the Bible were selected by humans for canonical purposes, The Bible has interpolations in it, and The Bible has been tampered with. “Circle jerk: Group masturbation among men, usually sitting in somewhat of a circle formation. Daisy chain: A group of participants performs cunnilingus or fellatio on each other in a circular formation, permitting each participant to both give and receive oral sex simultaneously. Gang bang: A number of people are performing sex acts on one person, either in turn or at the same time. Threesome or three-way: Three people all having sexual relations, not necessarily simultaneously. Not to be confused with ménage à trois (literally, "household of three"). Foursome or four-way: Sex between four people. Not to be confused with ménage à quatre (literally, "household of four"). Double penetration: When a person is entered or penetrated in the vagina and/or anus by two people at the same time. This is usually when one person enters the anus while another enters the vagina; however, it also refers to two simultaneous penetrations in the same orifice. Spintrian: A term used by Suetonius to describe sexual group practices indulged in by the emperor Tiberius on Capri.[4] Monogamous group sex or same room sex (a.k.a. soft swapping): Couples engaging in sexual activity in the same room but in separate pairs, without any swapping of partners or other major sexual activity between couples. A sex party is a gathering at which sexual activity takes place. Sex parties may be organized to enable people to engage in casual sexual activity or for swinging couples or people interested in group sex to meet, but any gathering where sexual activity is anticipated can be called a sex party. There are a number of types of sex parties: Swinger party/gathering: A swinger party or partner-swapping party is a gathering at which individuals or couples in a committed relationship can engage in sexual activities with others as a recreational or social activity.[5] Swinger parties may involve various group sex activities. Partners can engage in penetrative sex, known as "full swap", or choose to "soft swap" in which they engage only in non-penetrative sex. New swinging couples often choose a soft swap before they are comfortable with a full swap, although many couples stay soft swap for personal reasons.[6] "Soft swinging" is when a couple engages in sexual activities with only each other while other couples perform sex acts in the immediate vicinity.[7] Technically this is a form of exhibitionism rather than "group sex" per se. Orgy: An orgy is a gathering where guests freely engage in open and unrestrained sexual activity or group sex; and a bunga bunga orgy is an orgy in which participants have sex underwater, such as in a swimming pool or a hot tub.[8]” Christ means inner beauty of all good people regardless of whether you believe or disbelieve; I don't use Christ in the Religious Right way. Al of the organized crime syndicates that I referred to in this episode are: Italian Mafia, Mexican drug cartels, D.C. street crews, D.C. street gangs, the prison gangs, and the motorcycle gangs. The saying in organized crime was: “Your life's clock is ticking.” The criminals would express their view of not being in the mood to keep certain people alive and asking if people want to be killed or not. My last detail about organized crime was that I was feared because I was considered good at war of words, public and private beat downs, and my physical prowess when it came to protecting oppressed persons. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support

Many of us find ourselves in such desperation for a romantic relationships, that we begin to settle for less and start overlooking red flags instead of settling for Gods best. And in this episode Louis and Danny speak about what the BIBLE says about dating a non believer, as well as the consequences of dating one, and what we SHOULD be looking for in a partner.

“The Grieving Nonbeliever's Bill of Rights 1. You have the right to experience your own unique grief. No one will grieve the same way you do. So, when you turn to others for help, don't let them tell you how you should be feeling. 2. You have the right to talk about your grief or not. Talking about your grief may help you heal, but so may giving yourself a break or a distraction. Seek out others who will let you talk as much or as little as you want. 3. You have the right to feel a multitude of emotions during your grief journey. Some may tell you that feeling angry, for example, is wrong. Don't take these judgmental responses to heart; find listeners who will accept your feelings without condition. 4. You have the right — even as a rational thinker — to behave in irrational ways in your grief. Knowing that your loved one cannot hear you does not mean you cannot speak to them if it makes you feel better. The same goes for keeping odd mementos, crying in public, and avoiding (or gravitating toward) reminders. Not everything you do to survive grief needs to be logical or make sense to you or to anyone else. 5. You have the right to be tolerant of your physical and emotional limits. Feelings of loss and sadness can fatigue you. Respect what your body and mind tell you. Get daily rest. Eat balanced meals. And don't allow others to push you into activities you're not ready for. 6. You have the right to experience grief “attacks”. Sometimes, a powerful surge of grief may overcome you. This can be frightening, but it is normal. Find someone who understands and will let you talk it out. 7. You have the right to make use of ritual if you want to. Collective rituals provide you with support from caring people, as well as a way to mourn. Private rituals are no one's business but your own and can help you live with your grief as you move forward in life. 8. You have the right to embrace your own personal knowledge and belief about the nature and meaning of life and death. If philosophy or science is important to your understanding of your loss, express it. If you can, be with people who share and support your lack of belief in deities, pseudoscience, the supernatural, and any kind of afterlife. If you cannot find other nonbelievers in your area, connect with them online. 9. You have the right to reject “help” that is not helping. This includes offers to pray and pressure to accept religion-based support or rituals. 10. You have the right to search for meaning and to make meaning of your loss. You may ask, “Why did he or she die? Why this way? Why now?” Watch for clichéd responses like, “Everything happens for a reason” or “They're in a better place.” These sentiments are not helpful, and you do not have to agree with them. Some questions may have answers, others don't. And in some cases, you can create meaning by acting, giving and creating in a way that memorializes your loved one. 11. You have a right to treasure your memories. Memories are one of the best legacies that exist after the death of a loved one. You will always remember. Instead of ignoring your memories, find others with whom you can share them. 12. You have a right to maintain your relationship with your loved one as they exist in your mind and heart. The fact that their body and consciousness are gone does not mean that they do not live on in everything they taught you and all the ways they affected you and others. Find ways to connect with your loved one's lasting impact on you and the world around you. 13. You have the right to move toward your grief and heal. Reconciling your grief will not happen quickly. Remember, grief is a process, not an event. Be patient with yourself, and avoid people who are impatient with you. Neither you nor those around you should forget that the death of someone loved changes your life forever.” --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support
