El Instituto Nacional de las Personas Mayores, dependiente del Ministerio de Desarrollo Social, salió ayer a responder a las críticas por el incendio trágico que dejó diez muertos en un residencial de ancianos en Treinta y Tres. La Asociación de Residenciales de Adulto Mayor (Aderama) había afirmado el mismo domingo, día en que ocurrió el episodio, que en este caso había “irresponsabilidad de las autoridades", y por eso reclamó la “renuncia de mandos medios y superiores” tanto del Inmayores como del área fiscalizadora del Ministerio de Salud Pública (MSP). Ayer se conoció un dato más: radio Sarandí difundió una denuncia que una socia de Aderama había presentado ante el MSP a principios del año pasado, advirtiendo por una serie de residenciales clandestinos que funcionaban “al margen de todo” en Treinta y Tres. Entre ellos, mencionaba al Hogar de Ancianos Adulto Mayor, que fue donde ocurrió el incendio. Según Aderama, esa denuncia no tuvo respuesta de las autoridades. Más tarde, Marina Baras, la directora de Inmayores, respondió cuestionamientos en rueda de prensa. "No era un lugar vulnerable, ni precario, o sea, estamos hablando de que era uno de los dos mejores lugares de residenciales que hay en Treina y Tres". Baras aseguró que el 75% de los 1.500 residenciales del país tiene la fiscalización hecha, y que el Mides y el MSP trabajan en forma “mancomunada” para trabajar en la regularización de los establecimientos que quedan. In this interview, Jeff talks to Sondra Baras about the legitimacy of the Jewish claim to the Land of Israel, and in particular, the area referred to as "The West Bank". Sondra explains why the "West Bank" should only be called "Judea and Samaria" and she unpacks why it is inappropriate to refer to her  - or anyone else in her community - as a "Settler" because of the legal and biblical right all Jews have  - and have always had - to the heartland of Israel. Sondra Oster Baras is an Orthodox Jew, born and raised in the US.  She and her husband moved to Israel in 1984, and shortly thereafter, she became an active spokes-person for the communities of Judea and Samaria. In 1998, Sondra Baras founded CFOIC Heartland, a Christian organization which focuses exclusively on the communities in the heartland of Biblical Israel. CFOIC Heartland raises funds for these communities,and they are the primary resource for connecting Christians from all over the world to the people of Biblical Israel. In September 2023, Sondra Oster Baras retired as Director of CFOIC-Israel and assumed the position of International President. She and her husband Edward raised five children in Karnei Shomron, where they still reside today. Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Giedrė Žickytė, Lithuanian Filmmaker and Director of “The Jump”About Harvey's guest: Today's guest is Giedre Zickyte, a highly acclaimed filmmaker from Lithuania whose latest film, entitled “The Jump”, chronicles one of the Cold War's most complex and suspenseful episodes.   On November 23, 1970, a Lithuanian seaman by the name of  Simas Kudirka, jumped from a Soviet fishing vessel that was anchored just off the coast of Martha's Vineyard, onto the US Coast Guard ship “Vigilant”, desperately seeking political asylum.  The US Coast Guard, however, returned him to the Soviets, who convicted him of treason and sentenced him to 10 years in a concentration camp.
