The 1973 Pascagoula abduction event may be “one of the most credible UFO incidents in modern history”—and it's not the only one. In the 1960s and ‘70s, bizarre sightings of strange creatures and glowing lights in the water began to be reported. But what else could be lurking deep beneath the waves? Under the ice in Greenland, NASA made a startling discovery. Shocking UFO files hidden in the Presidential Library claimed that the US made successful contact with an alien race. Futuristic, alien technology continues to be unveiled, including maybe the strangest use of artificial intelligence seen yet. Dive into all these topics with Edge of Wonder. Ocean Power Technologies CEO Philipp Stratmann joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce a significant milestone for the company: OPT has been officially recognized as one of the initial certified operators under the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International Trusted UMS Operator Program. This designation places OPT among the first wave of companies acknowledged for meeting stringent standards in the safe and proficient operation of uncrewed maritime systems. Stratmann emphasized that this recognition is not just symbolic but a powerful validation of the company's commitment to excellence in autonomous maritime operations. The Trusted UMS Operator Program was created by AUVSI in partnership with key industry stakeholders to set a unified benchmark for safety, training, and operational consistency across the rapidly evolving domain of uncrewed systems. The program responds to growing demand from government, defense, and commercial clients for a standardized, transparent framework to evaluate the qualifications of operators who deploy autonomous technologies in complex and sometimes hazardous marine environments. By becoming one of the inaugural certified operators, OPT has aligned itself with a select group of companies that are shaping the future of autonomous maritime solutions. This is especially relevant as demand accelerates for uncrewed systems that support missions such as offshore surveillance, environmental monitoring, maritime domain awareness, and subsea infrastructure inspection. In addition, Stratmann shared with Proactive, the company announced that it has completed its first WAM-V® 22 sea trials for a customer with substantial operations in Sub Saharan Africa. The sea trials were carried out at OPT's newly permitted test site in Southern New Jersey following site visits and operational reviews by the US Coast Guard. The sea trials, for a major specialized offshore services customer, was able to be completed at the company's newly permitted test site. This now enables OPT to us to test year-round on either coast, making it easier for customers to receive their products and further decreasing the time from booking to revenue recognition. #proactiveinvestors #oceanpowertechnologiesinc #nyseamerican #optt #PhillipStratmann, #USGovernmentContract, #OffshoreAutonomy, #MaritimeSecurity, #CommercialPlatforms, #GrowthStrategy, #BuoyBusiness, #VehicleBusiness, #InternationalExpansion, #ReadyToDeploy #AutonomousVehicles #MaritimeTech #CleanEnergySolutions #AUVSI #SustainableTechnology #MarineInnovation #EnergyEfficiency #UncrewedSystems #GlobalExpansion

TOM CLANCY LINE OF DEMARCATION starts with the destruction of a US Coast Guard cutter and the loss of her entire crew. But the USCG Claiborne was on an innocuous mission to open a sea lane between an oil field off the coast of South America and the refineries of southern Louisiana. The destruction of the ship—tragic as it is—won't stop that mission from continuing.  So, who would sacrifice twenty-two men and women just to slow down the plan? That's the question plaguing Jack, who is in Guyana working on a deal to get his company, Hendley Associates, in on the ground floor of this new discovery.  But Russia's Wagner Group and a pack of Venezuelan narco-terrorists have other ideas—and will risk war with the United States to see them through. It's up to Jack to identify the killers before they draw a bead on him . . . but how can he do that when the line of demarcation between friend and foe is constantly shifting? ABOUT THE AUTHORS:M.P. Woodward is the New York Times bestselling author of Tom Clancy Shadow State and The Handler CIA espionage series (The Handler and Dead Drop). Woodward served for a decade as a U.S. Naval intelligence officer before going on to an international career in tech and streaming media. He lives in the Pacific Northwest. Thirty-five years ago, Tom Clancy was a Maryland insurance broker with a passion for naval history. Years before, he had been an English major at Baltimore's Loyola College and had always dreamed of writing a novel. His first effort, The Hunt for Red October, sold briskly as a result of rave reviews, then catapulted onto the New York Times bestseller list after President Reagan pronounced it “the perfect yarn.” From that day forward, Clancy established himself as an undisputed master at blending exceptional realism and authenticity, intricate plotting, and razor-sharp suspense. He passed away in October 2013.For more info on the book click HERE

Today I talked to Peter Harmsen about his book Fury and Ice: Greenland, the United States and Germany in World War II (Casemate, 2024). The wartime interest in Greenland was a direct result of its vital strategic position--if you wanted to predict the weather in Europe, you had to have men in place on the vast, frozen island. The most celebrated example of Greenland's crucial contribution to Allied meteorological services is the correct weather forecast in June 1944 leading to the decision to launch the invasion of Normandy. In addition, both before and after D-Day a stream of weather reports from Greenland was essential for the Allied ability to carry out the bombing offensive against Germany. The Germans were aware of the value of Greenland from a meteorological point of view, and they repeatedly attempted to establish semi-permanent weather stations along the sparsely populated east coast of the island. This resulted in an epic cat-and-mouse game, in which US Coast Guard personnel assisted by a celebrated sledge patrol manned by Scandinavian adventurers struggled to locate and eliminate German bases before they could make any difference. It's a story seldom told, but the fact remains that Greenland was the only part of the North American continent in which German troops maintained a presence throughout almost the entirety of the war. At the same time, the US entry into the war triggered an enormous American effort to hastily establish the necessary infrastructure in the form of harbors and air bases that enabled Greenland to form a vital link in the effort to send men and supplies across the North Atlantic in the face of stern opposition from the German Navy. While Allied ships were passing through Greenland waters in massive numbers, planes were plying the so-called Snowball Route from Greenland over Iceland to the British Isles. This episode of Across The Margin : The Podcast features an interview with directors Dominic and Nadia Gill. Born in Oxford, United Kingdom, and educated at Shrewsbury, Dominic became a biologist who, at the age of 25, left the corporate world of environmental consulting to fulfill his dream as an adventurer and filmmaker. He set up shop creating and producing film and television content. Dominic's first adventure film Take A Seat: Alaska to Argentina, in which he rode a tandem bicycle from the top of Alaska to the bottom of Argentina, won Special Jury Prize at the Banff Mountain Film Festival in 2009 and has since been shown in over 400 cities worldwide. He also published the story of this journey in the book, Take A Seat. Nadia Gill, a former lawyer, left her job to join Dominic in biking across the United States in 2010 while they produced a television series: Sharing A Ride Across America. In 2015 they released their first feature documentary Coming To My Senses, chronicling the vision quest of former motocross athlete Aaron Baker as he crossed Death Valley in the culmination of a 14-year effort learning how to walk again. Together Dominic and Nadia formed Encompass Films, and their latest documentary, Planetwalker, is the focus of this episode. Planetwalker tells the story of black environmentalist Dr. John Francis, known the world over as “Planetwalker.” In 1971, after witnessing an oil tanker collision in San Francisco Bay, he gave up motorized transport in protest and relied solely on his own two feet. Months after that he took a vow of silence, convinced that listening rather than adding fuel to any argumentative fire was the way ahead. During the next 17 silent years — serenaded only by his banjo — he walked across the United States listening to and studying the environment around him. Planetwalker focuses on the period of John's life from the oil spill through his meandering 20-year journey across the States where he resumes speaking to work on oil spill legislation with the US Coast Guard. During this time, it seemed like the whole world, every creed and color, saw John pass by and interacted with him if only fleetingly. Planetwalker re-introduces the world to the inner-magic of Dr. John Francis, a central figure in the intersectional environmental movement who's story takes on new meaning today. Hosted on Acast. “You're Bill McCoy.” “Never heard of him.” This is the story of a crazy decade-plus when America outlawed booze…but the liquor kept flowing.  The Prohibition era marks a partial return to the Golden Age of Piracy, with bootleggers frequenting old haunts in the Caribbean, including Nassau, capital of The Bahamas. These sailors are also buying, selling, and drinking copious amounts of—you guessed it—rum. But how does all this booze get from the Bahamas to speakeasies in New York?  William “Bill” McCoy is a legendary rumrunner, one of the best. He'll be our captain as we explore Nassau's offerings, buy from the Bootleg Queen of The Bahamas, Gertrude “Cleo” Lythgoe and set out on a 1923 voyage up “Rum Row” to New York, carefully avoiding the actual pirates and the US Coast Guard. Once we square away a buyer, we'll take our haul to shore with Maisie Manders and enjoy a few well-earned drinks in Manhattan.
