PG columnist Noah Hiles joined the show. Noah has no idea what will happen at the end of this season if the Pirates yet again finish in last place. Noah suggested changes should be coming if we listen to what the front office said going into 2026. Noah thinks drafting and development has been a little bit better in the last few years, but it shouldn't be enough to save Ben Cherington his job. How much of the blame with pitching goes on Bill Murphy versus the players themselves? How much blame does Paul Skenes deserve for how this season has gone? John criticized how Skenes has looked in his last 3 starts with the Pirates needing their ace to answer the call. John joked as a man of heavy stature that Skenes does look like he's put on some weight between seasons and it may be affecting his performance. The guys asked John how the Pirates may twirl things this offseason if they finish in last place once again? Why is ESPN oddly optimistic about the Pirates? The Pirates will get Oneil Cruz and Konnor Griffin back before the end of the season, and ESPN thinks it could ‘save' their season. That idea feels like a pipe dream. Cruz should be back soonish, but Griffin won't be back until the middle of next month – and at that point, the Pirates could be mathematically out of it. Fan Graphs gives the Pirates under a 10% chance to make the postseason, but the odds don't even feel that high. Poni said people can still count on the fresh air at PNC Park if nothing else. Wow! With only Detroit's Tarik Skubal coming close to matching his production on the American League side? How badly would a Cy Young in a losing season for Skenes reflect on owner Bob Nutting, GM Ben Cherington and manager Don Kelly? Have the Pirates as a club taken Skenes' greatness for granted, in a strong rotation that also includes Mitch Keller? And what level of pressure is on Cherington and Kelly amid the team's latest losing skid? Our duo tackles those questions and more. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Mike explained the incentives of the Cam Heyward deal to the guys and they don't understand what all of the hoopla was about. Mike told the guys Chris Boswell is confident he will end up being the highest-paid kicker in the game, but the business (the team) wants to wait to pay its employee. Mike thinks Jabrill Peppers getting cut from the Patriots was a fit/scheme issue and don't think the Steelers are getting damaged goods here. Jason admitted he is wavering on his Ben Cherington claim that he would be gone at season's end, but he does believe the Pirates will still move on from their GM. Should the Pirates re-sign Andrew McCutchen? There is a good argument to bring back Tommy Pham, who has ended up being a pretty good offseason signing. Jason still has hopes Bob Nutting will look at the whole body of work and not just how the team played in the final month. Jason shared that Cherington is under contract through ‘at least' next season. Jason thinks Cherington stays if the Pirates finish this final month strong.

Did the team move pitcher Andrew Heaney to the bullpen so he wouldn't reach his contract's innings bonus? Would the Pirates really be better if owner Bob Nutting had hired now-Milwaukee Brewers general manager Matt Arnold instead of Ben Cherington? Could Andrew McCutchen see some action at first base? Our duo tackles those topics and more including Ke'Bryan Hayes' return to Pittsburgh with the Cincinnati Reds; they delayed callups of top pitching prospects Bubba Chandler and Hunter Barco amid the continued presence of Andrew Heaney on the roster; and Dennis Santana's early struggles in the closer role after inheriting it from the departed David Bednar.
