European Drama and Chrisie Smith

It was a drama-filled week at Wentworth CC for the DP World Tour's BMW PGA Championship, where LIV golfers collided with the DP World Tour stars. Hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell recap the crazy week, which started with a kerfuffle on the putting green and ended with an Irishman lifting the trophy (1:41). The LPGA season rolled on, and once again, the winner did something amazing en route to victory (8:12). The PGA Tour officially wrapped up the 2021-2022 season by giving out the Player of the Year Award, and it went to none other than Scottie Scheffler (9:27). The 2022-2023 Tour season kicks off this weekend in Napa Valley, and that means all the new guys who earned cards from the Korn Ferry Tour are making their debut (10:58). In Tuned In, Michael is excited to support his wife in New Orleans in November for her film, and Alex is ready for the fall baking shows to take over his television (13:11). This week's guest is Chrisie Smith, the Director of Sales, Marketing and Events at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya. New Mexico Golf Paradise and Derek Gutierrez

The #CoLPlaycation headed to Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico for a two day trip to golf paradise at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya. Hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell recap their trip to northern New Mexico, rounds at Twin Warriors Golf Club, horseback riding at the Tamaya Stables, and more (1:44). The Korn Ferry Tour was in action, handing out 25 PGA Tour cards at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship, where some heroics were made by pros to earn their way to the big game (11:59). The LPGA's Dana Open presented by Marathon gave Mexican Gaby Lopez her third career victory after a blazingly low Sunday (13:27). LIV Golf's Boston "tournament" included a lot of "firsts" for the fledgling tour, and friend of the podcast David Button was inside the ropes for the Thursday Pro-Am (14:01). Cantlay Repeats and Jim Jeselnick

Patty Ice earned his name and host Alex Lauzon cashed in as Patrick Cantlay repeated at the BMW Championship, putting himself in fine position to maybe repeat again with another FedEx Cup. Alex and co-host Michael Russell look at the rest of the firepower from the weekend, and who played themselves into the TOUR Championship (2:06). Before the golf started at Wilmington CC, Tiger Woods and the rest of the Tour's elites had a secret meeting where they discussed the game's future, including a new "tech-heavy series," which Alex and Michael wonder at what that means for the future (7:47). Those who were absent from the secret meeting included two international stars who are rumored to be headed to LIV, and who may be absent from the International Presidents Cup Team (10:14). As for the court battle brewing between the PGA Tour and the LIV golf stars, we're going to have a little while longer before they even enter the courtroom (11:20). The Tour rolls into East Lake for the TOUR Championship and the finale of the FedEx Cup, which includes the wacky staggered scoring system that is going to make placing bets for the weekend a little more difficult than usual (12:45). Zalatoris Finally Breaks Through and Hailey Hunter

The US Amateur made hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell very happy when they announced a Seinfeld inspired group, making the host's favorite TV show sport collide in a monumental way (2:20). But the real news was at the WGC FedEx St Jude where Will Zalatoris finally was able to get a W, after a four hole playoff. Alex and Michael wonder if this will now open the floodgates for the 2-year PGA Tour player (4:01). Meanwhile in the courtroom, a trio of LIV golfers tried to make their way back into the FedEx Cup Playoffs, and while they were unsuccessful, the golfing world was graced with a whole lot of interesting information about the LIV contracts (6:59). Rumors continued to swirl as well around the next batch of golfers headed to the LIV Tour, including the world #2 golfer, Cam Smith (9:12). Big shoutout to a CoL past guest Taylor Montgomery who was able to officially secure his PGA Tour Card (12:55). The FedEx Cup rolls on to the BMW Championship, now in Delaware, meaning the Tour pros will all be on the same page for a brand new venue (13:44). LIV Sues for More Golf and Fenti Fried Chicken

It was the regular season finale at the Wyndham Championship this past weekend, and hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell lament the depressing social media blitz of bogey putts and missed opportunities to keep PGA TOUR cards. Young gun Tom Kim took the top prize, but it was Sir Nick Faldo who had all the waterworks in his final broadcast from the 18th tower (1:44). LIV Golf made big noise this week as many of the defecting PGA Tour players sued the PGA Tour so they could play... more golf. Alex and Michael make wild predictions into what the lawsuit's outcome could be (7:03). At Muirfield, the AIG Women's Open got four extra holes of golf and one awfully good bunker shot to give Ashleigh Buhai her first major championship (12:04). The FedEx Cup Playoffs begin this week at the WGC FedEx St Jude, an event title rocked with irony, but a field that is vying to keep it going to claim the giant cash prize in three weeks (13:56). Tony Finau is the Hottest Golfer and Gianna Gravalese

At this weekend's Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit, Tony Finau shocked the world and claimed the title of the World's Hottest Golfer, claiming his second consecutive victory. Hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell ate their words and ponder Finau's future chances of winning the FedEx Cup and a major (1:39). Meanwhile at Trump Bedminster, LIV Golf made waves once again as Henrik Stenson proved why he jumped from Ryder Cup Captaincy to the Saudi backed tour, claiming victory in his first event against, as is now usual, poor performing field. Alex and Michael also share thoughts on David Feherty's new gig in the tower, and the heartbreaking announcement from Bubba Watson (5:56). The PGA Tour announced the new 2022-2023 season schedule and purse sizes, showing that LIV is making changes on the legacy tour as payouts increase by some $5-$8 million, or more, for many events in what will be the final wrap-around golf season (11:31). The newly minted CoL TopGolf Tour kicked off this weekend as Alex began a season of visiting different Top Golfs across the country with a trip to his local Austin driving range and watering hole (13:27). The final regular season event kicks off in North Carolina for the Wyndham Championship as the Tour regulars jockey for position to make it into the FedEx Cup Playoffs (15:35). It was another W for golf's hottest star this weekend as Xander Schauffele notched his second victory in 3 weeks. This week's John Deere Classic event is a bit of a snooze-fest ahead of the Open Championship, but you can always watch the Scottish Open instead on a major US network all weekend (15:26). The CoL Book Club continues with Alan Shipnick's "Phil," and the guys are knee deep in the emotional story of Phil's 2010 Master's victory, and Phil's growing gambling problems on and off the course (17:07). In Tuned In, the guys head to the movies and give us their reviews. Alex finally caught the new Tom Cruise blockbuster "Top Gun 2," while Michael got to see The King in "Elvis" (27:11). The PGA TOUR took over Canada this weekend, and the headlines were Rory, JT, and Tony Finau, who played together Sunday for one of the most exciting finishes this year. And as hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell share, it came at just the right time (2:04). Across the pond, the LIV Tour burst into reality as they hosted their first "tournament" outside of London. What a week in golf we had! On the PGA Tour, handshakes were given out by Jack Nicklaus, and the Memorial crowned its new champion in commanding fashion. Hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell comment on Billy Horschel's win, and take a look at how their picks fared in the annual pilgrimage to Jack's Place (1:56). Hottest Golfers on Tour and Jay Card III

The Charles Schwab Challenge ended in a playoff featuring the two hottest golfers on Tour, and Sam Burns beat good friend Scottie Scheffler to claim another win on his 2022 season. Hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell check in on Burns' performance, and Alex wonders if a personal appointment kept Scheffler from the winner's circle (1:42). The LIV Tour was supposed to finally drop names for it's upcoming tournament in London, but instead has once again put off naming names. Michael wonders if the Saudi-backed tour will ever take flight (6:20). The PGA Champions Tour, 50 year old Kiwi Steven Alker is making a claim as being the hottest golfer out there, as he carded a final round 63 to claim the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship (8:11). In Las Vegas, the Bank of Hope Match Play saw a former major-winner notch her ticket to the LPGA's US Open as Eun-Hee Ji took down the bracket. And now attention turns to the Women's US Open at Pine Needles and its $10 million purse (9:16). The Match returns this week, and it totally snuck up on Alex and Michael, as it featured no professional golfers, in favor instead of a bunch of bored NFL quarterbacks (11:48). The PGA Tour heads to Jack's place for the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village, and as usual, it's a completely loaded field (14:30). The Course of Life Book Club is back! A windy weekend led to a playoff and a repeat winner at Justin Thomas claimed this weekend's PGA Championship at Southern Hills. It was a wet and wild weekend at TPC Sawgrass. Hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell look at the long PLAYERS Championship weekend and the impressive win from Australian Cam Smith (1:52). The PLAYERS week was also supposed to be the biggest week of the year for the new Saudi Golf League/Premiere Golf League. So what big news did we get from Greg Norman and the new league? Spoiler alert: it wasn't much (7:28). Tiger Woods was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame this past week as well, and Alex and Michael wonder why an athlete can get inducted into the Hall when they still may have time left out on the course (8:39). The LPGA saw another record setting tournament weekend, as a new tournament record was set (twice!) and Denmark got to see their first LPGA victory (10:13). This weekend's Valspar Championship on the opposite Florida coastline may end up being a little weaker than expected after the Monday finish at The PLAYERS, but that doesn't mean Alex won't let you know who to put a dollar down on (11:33). Alex and Michael throw out some names to look at to win this weekend in what should be, as always, an electric event (14:46). In Tuned In, Michael, as a self-proclaimed Trekie, is all over the return of "Picard," while also checking out the new Taika Waititi show "Our Flag Means Death." Alex, meanwhile, is diving down the rabbit hole on YouTube and learning more and more about the Amish (18:06). The hate for Phil Mickelson boiled over this week as every sponsor jumped ship after his incendiary comments about the new Premiere Golf League, and Alex and Michael wonder if he will ever play in the PGA Tour again (5:11). America's 2023's Ryder Cup team has a captain, and it's the not very exciting Zach Johnson, a guy that the hosts just can't seem to love that much on (10:47). The LPGA Tour returns this weekend with the "Asian Major," and that means awesome golf at odd hours (12:55). This weekend is a double event on the PGA Tour, with some players in paradise for the Puerto Rico Open, and the rest playing in Bay Hill for the Arnold Palmer Invitation, which will be without defending champion Bryson DeChambeau (13:51). It was a wild weekend at Riviera, where Joaquin Neiman pulled a wire-to-wire victory, and host Alex Lauzon notched his first winner of the year (1:49). The Genesis Invitational also meant that host Tiger Woods would be present, and Alex's hopes and dreams continue to be dashed, and host Michael Russell's reality sets in, as Tiger refuses to put a timeline on his return (5:20). The weekend also featured a spectacular collapse of the Greg Norman and Saudi Arabia backed golf league, as professionals pledged their allegiance to the PGA Tour, and Phil Mickelson revealed his extensive involvement, and reasons why (7:35). In Florida, Bernard Langer continues to show what happens when you're one of the most prolific and consistent golfers in the world - you win (13:22). Alex went back out to the course this weekend, and was able to make up for his poor showing against Michael in a new D3 app match against the app's founder, Tom (14:41). The Florida Swing begins this weekend, albeit with a more normal looking field, as the guys head to The Honda Classic, where Alex thinks your money is best spent on someone who isn't expected to win (17:26). Regardless of the layout, hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell struggle to tell who won this week, Harris English or Hudson Swafford (2:05). The LPGA Tour kicked off the season with a pro-am event in Orlando, FL, where Danielle Kang returned to form to earn a win after a winless 2021 (6:47). Across the pond on the DP World Tour, Michael is ecstatic at the video of McIlroy, Hatton, and Morikawa struggling to hit a 1-yard fairway. But Alex is just excited to see Thomas Pieters back in the winners circle (9:42). The PGA Merchandise Show is finally here this week, and Alex can't wait to share everything he'll see and do in Orlando (11:08). The PGA Tour moves this week's event forward a day, which means Torey Pines will host the favorite Farmer's Insurance Open starting on Wednesday with a loaded field including favorite Jon Rahm (13:34). The PGA Tour wrapped up their Hawaii swing with the Sony Open and a whole lot of birdies, once again, as Hideki Matsuyama stormed his way to victory on Sunday (1:58). But it was Kevin Na who left a lasting impression for his Twitter performance this week, starting off 2022 with a massive mic drop moment (4:30). On the LPGA Tour, following loads of good news in the past couple weeks, reality came crashing down as the Monday qualifiers got less good (7:36). The DP World Tour, formerly the European Tour, returns to action this weekend with the likes of Colin Morikawa and Rory McIlroy (9:12). Next week's PGA Merchandise Show will include a special guest: our very own Alex (10:43)! The PGA Tour heads back to the mainland for the American Express, which features a loaded field and a return to La Quinta Resort (12:34). New Year's Resolutions and Steff Higgins

It's a new year, but there still were some major headlines from 2021 to cover, including the return of Tiger Woods at the PNC Championship. But while hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell marvel at Tiger's performance, Alex is really interested in John Daly (2:03). Tiger Swing a Club and Pam Maldonado

The golf world lost their minds this weekend because Tiger Woods posted a video of him swinging a golf club. Hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell break down the chances of Tiger winning in April at Augusta (2:34). Meanwhile at the RSM Classic in Georgia, low low scores dominated as Talor Gooch rolled to victory (6:01). And on the LPGA Tour, Jin Young Ko hit 63 consecutive greens in regulation to capture her second CME Group Tour Championship (8:00). In Saudi Arabia, Collin Morikawa breezed to victory while Rory McIlroy tore his shirt (his 9:55). Past guest Cyrus Jansen is getting ready to go full Bryson on his golf game, and Alex is ready for it. Meanwhile another past guest, Danielle Garcia made her way to a Top Golf and it wasn't exactly pretty (11:26). Coming up after Thanksgiving, Brooks Keopka and Bryson Dechamaeu face off in a 12-hole version of "The Match," which doesn't really interest Alex and Michael (12:50). It was another weekend of low scores in Las Vegas, but Sunday felt like 2016 as Rory and Rickie fought it out at the CJ Cup. Over on the LPGA Tour, they got to have a fantastic playoff under the lights. Michael and Alex will do whatever it takes to make this kind of fantasy situation play-out everywhere (7:52). The Tour heads to Japan again this weekend for the ZoZo Championship, where Michael is hoping to see a Sunday round of Xander Schauffele and Hideki Matsuyama (10:07). Back from vacation are hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell, and they both had productive weeks in Southwest Florida, including Alex's trip to Popstroke (1:54). But then it was time to get back to golf, and low scores in Vegas at the Shriners Children's Open (4:48). On the Champions Tour, Phil Mickelson ups his win average to 75% with a win in Jacksonville, begging the questions once again if he should go there full-time (6:26). The Tour stays in Vegas for the CJ Cup, but with a whole lot of star power, and Alex and Michael agree on keeping an eye on Xander (7:57). In Tuned In, Alex is watching the international phenomenon that is "Squid Game" while Michael is laughing it up with Steve Martin with "Only Murders in the Building" (10:10). This week's guest is the VP of Marketing for a company known for colorful golf balls. Volvik's Wes Whittingham chats with Alex about his love for the game, how popular colorful golf balls will be in 5 years, and Volvik's partnership with Disney to make some Superhero golf balls (13:33). On the college football front, Alex rebounds with an incredible week (44:01). His Patriots rebound as well, while Michael's Giants continue to fall apart (45:37). But Alex is all over his Red Sox after they defeat Michael's Yankees (47:00). And as the guys #AlwaysEndWithFood, Alex is getting ready for Halloween baking, while Michael finally found his way to a Buc-ee's (50:47).
