For this week's episode of the Plural Pod, Gareth and Joel continue their holiday specials. With all due respect to both The Beatles and The Chuckle Brothers, this one is entitled ‘From Me To You'. Gareth picked an album for Joel to hear for the first time and Joel returned the favour for Gareth. If you'd like to listen first so that you know what is being talked about, it's Tracey Thorn's ‘Record' and Jellyfish's ‘Spilt Milk'. “He's like someone who can see their dinner coming a mile away” The panel of peril receive a phone call from an old friend and feel the fog of memories lost clear from their minds. Settling into a long flight home, they turn on this week's film IT (Tommy Lee Wallace, 1990). The Losers are a group of ordinary kids, they like messing around in the woods, telling jokes, and being bullied by a bunch of douchebags. Maybe not that last one. But when a killer named Pennywise The Dancing Clown (Tim Curry) targets them, and the adults don't help, they take matters into their own hands. Watch the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8i3_2iGTQi8 ********PLOT SPOILER ALERT******** The Losers defeat Pennywise and think him dead, but when he returns 30 years later so too must they to finish what they started. Featuring an all-star cast including John Ritter, Annette O'Toole and Seth Green, IT tells the tale of Pennywise's quest for revenge against those damn Losers who took him down all those years ago. What did the panel think of this week's movie? How can they improve upon the villain's masterplan? And who will be anointed this week's most diabolical? This time (ram), special guest star Melanie Clark - international streamer and Who-fan - joins us to examine that Peter Capaldi phenomenon, 'The Happiness Patrol'. In today's episode of Sync Music Matters I'm talking to RTS Award winning Editor Mike Holliday. Mike has worked on plethora of high profile comedy productions including Horrible Histories for which he received a BAFTA on behalf of the production team, The BBC's hit comedy Ghosts, CODE 404 for Sky, The BABY for HBO, Dead Pixels, Man Down, Yonderland, Drifters and The Reluctant Landlord to name but a few. Editors are often auditioning music and making creative choices with regard to what, where and how music is used in any given TV production. As such I'm very keen to talk to them and understand their process. Mike talks about how he auditions and uses music which is invaluable for anyone who has an interest in having their music used in TV and film. He reveals some of the many parallels between composing and editing including the critical importance of rhythm and always being in service of the production as a whole. That and the fact that whether you are making music or editing footage we love revelling in the “nerdery” of it. We go Under the Skin of Ghosts and Code 404 and talk about how bands like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Rage Against The Machine have shaped his musical perspective. We also touch on the forgotten 80's classic The Man with Two Brains, and the Rotheram Born comedy duo the Chuckle Brothers which he was editing when he first started out. Staircases have always played a vital role in cinema; any time our hero or villain needs to ascend or descend a level, the humble stair is there to allow it to happen. Ripe for injecting symbolism into a scene or used metaphorically to show our protagonists character development, the stairs are also a place where fights, chases and sometimes comedy can occur. So join us and go stair-crazy with this weeks Top 5 Set On A Staircase. The legendary 2000 A.D. is a British sci-fi comic which has been around since the 1970's and has at one time or another received contributions from some of our most well-known writers and artists, including Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons, Grant Morrison and Garth Ennis. Undoubtedly the most famous of all its characters is Judge Dredd, a law enforcement officer in the dystopian future city Mega-City One. Sylvester Stallone has already played the character on the big screen but the movie struggled to find an audience as it was stripped essentially of everything that made the character and world he inhabits interesting. Alex Garland and Pete Travis rebooted the persona with Karl Urban starring as the titular Judge in 2012's DREDD. But would this version of the role resonate with the Dads?Obvious humour, catchphrases, pratfalls, silliness and the most ridiculous cranial and facial hair you are ever likely to see combine to give us Chucklevision, a British kids tv comedy starring Barry and Paul Chuckle (the Chuckle Brothers). In 'Trouble In Store' the half-witted mullet-sporters are left in charge of a supermarket and before you can say 'Operation Yewtree' our childish simpletons are neck deep in banana skins, floor polish and wee-jimmy Krankie's orifices. Chuckle? Did I fuck. We love to hear from our listeners! By which I mean we tolerate it. Try us on twitter @dads_film, on Facebook Bad Dads Film Review or on our website baddadsfilm.com.Until next time, we remain...Bad Dads

This week’s guest is the marvellous, exhilarating and captivating cellist, Gabriella Swallow. Seb and Verity took a trip to her fabulous North London apartment on a rainy September day for a chat ranging from bowling with Hugh Jackman in Lederhosen to taking John Adams for lunch in Manchester. Gabi initially made a name for herself specialising in contemporary music - At the age of 22 she made her Southbank debut with London Sinfonietta playing Mark-Anthony Turnage’s About Water. However, she took an extended break in her mid to late 20’s to have her family and support her husband’s flourishing career. Gabi discusses rebuilding her career and expanding her horizons post hiatus....she has many great stories including meeting the Chuckle Brothers and Jackson 5 at a festival, wild times with Nigel Kennedy’s band and leading a double life at music college. For any ‘90’s students out there Gabi references listings paper Loot. (TSAP S03E14) In this very special episode, Sam Hughes chats with actor David Bateson as he celebrates 20 years of portraying Agent 47 in the acclaimed Hitman series this year. They discuss how it all began, some of the highlights, how the character has been a part of him for so long and... The Chuckle Brothers?? Plus so much more! This is definitely one of our best episodes so don't miss this! "David Bateson has played the leading character of Agent 47 in the Hitman game franchise for 20 years since its first release in 2000. Agent 47 is an immensely complex character. David Bateson has brought a brooding, melancholic intensity to the Hitman character. His portrayal of a cloned assassin-for-hire is both dangerous and appealing in its flawed humanity. In the latest entry in the series HITMAN 2, the story of Agent 47 was told in a more personal way than in previous games -starting with his very recruitment as an assassin more than 20 years ago, through to the most challenging contracts that he has ever completed. Agent 47 must explore his own sense of identity, his relationship with his long-term handler, various intricate characters and roles as part of his professional work, and deal with the revelation that somebody has been tracking his movements for more than two decades. Having voiced Agent 47 for 7 Hitman games, David is intimately familiar with this enigmatic, multifaceted character. His prowess as an actor delivers a varied, different approach to many scenes than were originally conceived. Agent 47 is often required to take on the disguise of others and David convincingly plays a sundry of roles while on occasion, leaving room for the player to pick up a sense of the game's very dark sense of humour and self-irony. As the beginning of the game starts 20 years in the past, David's long and extensive history with the character allowed him to connect with the memories of voicing the character for the first time 20 years ago and build that into the sense of nostalgia that our players would have been feeling at the same time. He meticulously performs the different personalities and plot developments of Agent 47, whilst maintaining the integrity of the character. Added to which, his subtle and very dark sense of humor draws the player ever deeper into the world of assassination. Disguised as an Estate Agent, he calmly describes the dubious qualities of a house's various rooms (as seen through the eyes of an assassin) to some prospective buyers while simultaneously planning an assassination, is just one such example. David has added a new level of depth to the already complex character of Agent 47 while strengthening the relationship of the fans to the personality of this trained assassin."
