On this week's DJD classics episode, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and co-host Mike Davis catch up with one of his longtime competitors from the NASCAR Cup scene, Washington's Greg Biffle. After a successful career in NASCAR that spanned nearly two decades, Biffle quietly exited the sport following the 2016 season.Greg shares his story of how he got into NASCAR, where he ultimately headed south to Tucson, Arizona to participate in the NASCAR Winter Heat Series. It was there that he met and befriended NASCAR Hall of Famer Benny Parsons, who was impressed with the unknown racer's performance. As the story goes, weeks later Parsons was conversing with Jack Roush in the garage area at Michigan International Speedway about Roush's NASCAR Truck team. Parsons recommended Biffle to Roush, and soon after he received a call from Geoff Smith, the president of Roush Racing at the time. After a lengthy chat, a contract was faxed over to Greg and the next two decades of his racing career were in motion.Greg and Dale speak about the decline of Roush Racing and the factors that led to the team falling behind the competition. Greg explains the team failed to progress with the direction of the sport and it took them a long time to catch up once they were behind. The lack of winning equipment ultimately played a role in Greg leaving Cup racing in 2016, a year earlier than his contract stated. The interview also touches on some of Greg's rivalries over the years, and the stories behind them. Greg details his dust-up with Jay Sauter at Richmond and the monetary fine and points penalty that fell on him because of it. As a result, when he and Kevin Harvick made contact at Bristol a year later in 2002, he knew he wanted to avoid a fight at all costs. They also discuss his famous feud with Boris Said at Watkins Glen in 2011, and how a perfectly thrown water bottle caused a huge blow-out. Dirty Mo Media is launching a new e-commerce merch line! They've got some awesome Door Bumper Clear merch on the site. Visit shop.dirtymomedia.com to check out all the new stuff.FanDuel Disclaimer: Must be 21+ and present in select states. Dale Earnhardt Jr. welcomes Cleetus McFarland, one of the most recognizable stars in the YouTube automotive scene, to the Dale Jr. Download this week. Fresh off his ARCA Racing Series debut at Daytona, McFarland caught the eyes and hearts of race fans with his post-race interview and time spent in the Fox broadcast booth. Garrett Mitchell was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and the Cleetus McFarland character was born thanks to a viral video made by a burgeoning street racing film company he worked with. After splitting his time between video editing, covering events, and law school, McFarland decided to go full-time with his own YouTube page and rapidly grew into one of the biggest followings on the platform. McFarland turned heads in the oval racing world when he purchased the dilapidated Desoto Speedway in Bradenton, Florida, and turned it into his personal playground for content. He and Dale recount the story of how the purchase came to be, and how a run-in with the IRS and COVID restrictions almost stopped him dead in his tracks. In an effort to bounce back from the obstacles, McFarland hosted his first Freedom 500, a race held for state auction purchased Crown Vics. The races have since become marquee events, held at established short track strongholds such as Indianapolis Raceway Park, Stafford Springs, and Bristol. The guys also discussed his time spent with Greg Biffle in relief efforts for Hurricane Helene and how Greg has become a mentor in his stock car racing efforts.FanDuel Disclaimer: Must be 21+ and present in select states. Unlike the last one that featured a scary self-driving and glowing General Lee as a "spook talkin' medium," this one features a haunted house straight out of Disneyland. A beautiful woman returns home to Hazzard to collect her inheritance, a mansion and it's full collection of antiques, only to learn that it's haunted. But it's not REALLY haunted, it's just full of what we would call today as unwelcome, unsigned, unpaying tenants. They are made up of a father-and-son-bad-guy-team who use the basement as a place to smelt stolen silver into silver bars. The Dukes figure it out, stop the bad guys, and this time LUKE gets the girl. Top that off with an unbelievably funny performance by Boss, Rosco and Cleetus that uses phrases like "doo-dads", "gee-gaws", and "Hogglooms" to describe precious collectibles and you get one outstanding Halloween episode. 10 Silver Bars! What is a Cleetus? It's a mascot to a diverse and group from New York, Boston, and beyond who at least once a year escape to a remote location and camp or glamp together and throw fabulous theme parties. A Cleetus is a set of googly eyes you can wear around your fingers. It's a thing that brings ridiculousness, joy, community, love, and bonding for those who wear it, share it, and blare it! The White Cleetus was our theme party where everyone dressed in "high-end gay" resort wear in tribute to the fabuluos HBO series and drank delicious herbal teas blended by our reisdent herbalist. These gays, they're trying to murder me! . . . with kindness, joy, exuberance, and free expression. Cover art by Jenny Briskman.

This week we're joined by our new friend Jason Parr who spent 3 years inside a strange and insular group of counterculture Evangelicals known as Deliverance Bible Church (interview starts at 31:00 minutes). At the center of this unconventional church is a pastor by the name of Cleetus Adrian, a charismatic egomaniac who fancies himself some sort of prophet. If it sounds like I'm slinging mud right from the get-go, don't take my word for it. Check out the links below for an article about about the church, as well as a bizarre video of Cleetus “rescinding the blessings of DBC” from his enemies. This is the first time Jason has spoken publicly about his experience at Deliverance Bible Church, and it's no small thing to share the details of such a negative and formative experience. We really appreciate his willingness to talk to us and you, and we hope you enjoy the episode! Histories of Health and Materiality in the Indian Ocean World: Medicine, Material Culture and Trade, 1600-2000 (Bloomsbury, 2023): Introducing materiality into the study of the history of medicine, this volume hones in on communities across the Indian Ocean World and explores how they understood and engaged with health and medical commodities. Opening up spatial dimensions and challenging existing approaches to knowledge, power, and the market, it defines 'therapeutic commodity' and explores how different materials were understood and engaged with in various settings and for a number of purposes. Offering new spatial realms within which the circulation of commodities created new regimes of meaning, Histories of Health and Materiality in the Indian Ocean World demonstrates how medicinal substances have had immediate and far-reaching economic and political consequences in various capacities. From midwifery and umbilical cords, to the social spaces of soap, and perfumes in early modern India and remedies for leprosy, this volume considers a vast range of material culture in medicinal settings to better understand the history of medicine and its role in global connections since the early 17th century. Anne Gerritsen is Professor of History at the University of Warwick, UK, and Chair of Asian Art at the University of Leiden, Netherlands. At Warwick, she co-directs the Global History and Culture Centre. Burton Cleetus is Assistant Professor of History at Jawaharlal Nehru University, India, where he teaches Modern Indian History. He specialises in the history of medicine and science and has worked on the institutionalisation of Indian medical traditions in colonial and post independent India. Dukes Review: Poor Cleetus makes the mistake of being #MeToo'd by Daisy Dukes, and his heart has to pay the price until she finally confesses to using her sexuality for personal gain. Poor Cleetus. But, love know no boundaries - and just like Cleetus we all have to take the high road and go on to date a bank teller anyway. This episode features Sheriff Little and is the second episode after the shift to the wide push bar General Lee. Also noted in this episode, no-one suffered from food poisoning and was stricken with vomiting and diarrhea for 4 hours straight. Dukes Review: When I heard in 1996 that there was going to be a Dukes reunion I ran out and bought a copy of the National Enquirer. Why? Because pictures of the Dukes filming were in it for some reason? Entertainment Tonight had a segment called “hot rod heaven” with Bo and Luke laying on the hood of the General and talking to each other, and everyone was going to be in it. And then it premiered. And they had a different theme song. And Waylon Jennings wasn't the balladeer. And they had new sound effects for the General Lee, not to mention the General looked different and goofy. Why are the numbers, pushbar, tailpanel, roll bar all messed up? And the lighting and picture and coloring was weird. And other than Bo, everyone looked older….and maybe not quite as tight and right as they once were, but hey, Dukes is Dukes. Rosco is funny, Jesse is good, Luke is still stronger and faster than everyone, and Bo can still drive. Cleetus returns - which I'm glad to see - Cooter returns from serving in Congress of all things - Daisy…..is getting a PHD and has an affinity for eating ribs. It's basically just a two hour regular Dukes episode where the boys have to race the General Lee to save the farm (again), Enos proposes to Daisy and she says yes (again) only to then cancel on him (again), but even a weird episode of the Dukes is better than no Dukes. Plus, this is the one where Corndog's real General Lee made it's premier! Bonus info: the first time you see the GL on screen in this episode....is Corndog's car! 10 Corndogs. This week marks the return of friend and listener favorite Mike Finnegan! Mike is an all around great dude, loved in the automotive entertainment industry, and was the original co-host of the Kibbe and Finnegan Podcast Show (which became Kibbe and Friends in 2019). This week marks the end of the second phase of our sister show "The Kibbe and Friends Show" where we reviewed the final episode of all 7 seasons of The Dukes of Hazzard. Since Mike helped it all begin, I asked him on to celebrate hitting the big milestone. (Kibbe and Friends isn't going away however, now we get to go back and hit all of the early episodes that Corndog loved most....and maybe build a few more Dukes stunt cars!)
