Turbosmart is well known for many quality performance accessories including wastegates, blow-off valves, fuel pressure regulators, anti-lag valves, boost controllers and more, but until recently they stopped short of selling turbochargers themselves.Use ‘PODCAST75' for $75 off your first HPA course here: https://hpcdmy.co/hpa-tuned-inAt the World Time Attack Challenge, Matt Wright gives us some insight into how Turbosmart decided to not only sell turbochargers but to sell their own designed in house with help from industry experts like Harry Hruska to get the ball rolling. There's no two ways about it, this move simply makes sense for a company like Turbosmart to explore.Unlike how design was done by the pioneers of aftermarket turbocharging years ago using a lot of prototyping, these days Matt explains how the use of computer-aided design (CAD) software and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) means a lot more theories can be discussed and tested before physical prototypes are made, giving Turbosmart the chance to explore a lot of design elements that traditionally would simply be too expensive to entertain. Also touched on are some of the material and manufacturing considerations, turbo selection and how leveraging industry experience helps decide what target markets want a wider range of turbocharging options/solutions.

Join Rob as he explores the psychology of designer purchases, from clothes to watches to cars. He talks about the delicate balance between quality investments and wasteful spending and by sharing personal experiences, stories and real world examples, Rob reveals how true wealth often manifests in subtlety. KEY TAKEAWAYS High-end brands like Patek Philippe and Hermès create artificial scarcity and complex buying processes to maintain exclusivity and increase demand, requiring significant previous purchases to access their most coveted items.  True quality investment pieces often have no visible logos and maintain or increase in value over time, while items covered in obvious branding typically depreciate rapidly.  Ferrari maintains brand value through strict control, even banning celebrities like Justin Bieber and Kim Kardashian who violate their standards for car modification and resale.  Luxury watches like Patek Philippe can serve as both investment vehicles and networking tools, opening doors to valuable business connections.  In the luxury car market, value isn't always about the badge - sometimes less prestigious brands offer better performance and value (like Audi RSQ8 vs. Lamborghini Urus).  Expensive designer clothes with prominent logos often indicate insecurity rather than wealth, while truly wealthy individuals tend to prefer understated, high-quality pieces.   BEST MOMENTS "If you want to go broke, buy brands. If you want to get rich, build a brand." "A Rolex Daytona is a better savings account than a savings account and a better door opener than a crowbar." "For less than an Urus, I got an RSQ8, which looks better than an Urus and a 992 Turbo S, which is the fastest car out of anything except two, three and five million pound hypercars."    VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter   https://robmoore.com/podbooks rob.team ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. Have you ever wondered how small aftermarket companies are able to drastically improve on parts from OEMs and huge players like Garrett or Borg Warner that have massive R&D departments and even bigger budgets behind them? If you ask this week's guest, Robert Young of Forced Performance and Xona Rotor, he'll tell you: “We try harder and we're better at it”. Of course, the reality isn't quite that simple… Luckily we've got a full two hours to dig into this topic and many others surrounding the world of performance turbocharging.Use FORCED25 to get $25 off HPA's Boost Control Tuning Course: https://hpcdmy.co/boostbOn this episode of Tuned In, we start by looking at how Robert became the turbocharger guru he is today as the name behind Forced Performance and Xona Rotor — the latter formed in partnership with Greg Jones of Tial Sport. This is a story that involves years spent studying physics and mechanical engineering, as well as hands-on experience at turbo shops and with his own projects that ranged from old Ford Fairlanes and fast air cooled VW drag cars, to the early DSM drag world of rapid Mitsubishi Eclipses.  Both Robert's companies produce ultra high performance aftermarket turbochargers and turbocharger components for a range of vehicles, and as one of the main brains behind these sought-after products, Robert is an absolute goldmine of turbo knowledge. This means that the conversation quickly dives very deep into the world of boost, discussing a huge range of topics — journal vs ball bearing, billet compressor wheels, compressor maps, turbo sizing, and so much more. This episode is a true turbo tech info dump in the best way possible. If you have any interest in going fast, don't sleep on this fascinating conversation with a big brain of the forced induction world.

All Hail Unicron: Episode 72 Skibbidy Ohio GYAT INTRODUCTION   Anybody Get Anything? —---------------------------------------------------------   Dear Shatte….Hi guys, Last episode was a bit like the old days when there was a lot of news and it didn't matter who made it. I know this because I'm listening to Shattered Cast Uncut again beginning with episode #70. I think that's the time I started listening. I'm currently at #94 and saw all your young fat faces (I'm old and from Europe)  It's a bittersweet experience. That chemistry of 6/7 people was awesome. It's also bittersweet because that's almost 10 years ago. (2015) But when I look at my collection there are several mentioned toys that I still haven't swapped out. And somehow they give me the feeling those times were better or at least more exciting because everything was new and we had hope. My question is; which time do you prefer most? The time everything was new, or the time you have options and can wait for the next obvious gaps? I know the answer depends on what or which you collect. If you disagree too much, please look at where we are now. (But is it more exciting?) Thankyou for all those years and I'm still listening. Kind regards, Quint the Quinturion Movie/Show News    —----------------------------------------   Dear Mr. All Hail,   First of all, I want to give a shout out to Justine regarding Go-bots. I first got into Go-bots before transformers and still have my childhood collection including 2 Turbos to this day.   My question tonight is how do you all handle conversations about transformers with general people outside your collecting circles? For example, when someone finds out you are into transformers but then spouts out obviously wrong (I.e. saying that they had that exact masterpiece figure growing up as a kid) or very strong opinions that you know will be a waste of time engaging in (I.e. how every collector must still be living inside their parents basement).   I for one am very cautious to engage or maybe just make a quick comment to move the conversation along, but it's always awkward.   Thanks. (Maybe it's a better question when you have Bobby Skullface as a guest host )   I will confess that mine is a Gigapower Sludge that belongs to the one and only Preorder...  I still stand by my statement that the thumb joint was a poor design.   Follow up question... I have heard that Justin is really good at fixing broken toys.  Want to take a shot at poor thumbless Sludge?   Love the show, keep up the entertaining work.   Chris D Official: Unix Square Combot Optimus, Megatron, and Starscream can sort of transform https://news.tfw2005.com/2024/07/23/unix-square-combot-optimus-prime-prototype-images-516016 https://news.tfw2005.com/2024/07/28/acghk-2024-unix-square-conbot-megatron-revealed-more-517544 ThreeZero has plenty of non-transforming Transformer stuff from SDCC https://news.tfw2005.com/2024/07/24/san-diego-comic-con-2024-threezero-mdlx-transformers-one-figures-more-516371 Oh my god! I get that Hasbro wants to increase profits and that by doing these simple things, they can.  Just like with the recent Autobot 5 pack that consisted of Hound, Wheeljack, Jazz, Sunstreaker, and Trailbreaker.  The only one most people wanted from that 5 pack was Hound, but the people that bought the other four figures previously now have to pay more for figures they got.  I get the other 4 had minor changes done, most noticeable was the change from clear/translucent plastic to the solid painted plastic.  They also did the same thing with the previous Kup and Cliffjumper where they had clear plastic issues for sale first and then later came back with the painted version that better resembles the toon aesthetic. In short, I'm done upgrading unless it is a significant improvement on the current figure.  Don't get me wrong, overall, I'm very happy with the line since the War, Siege, and Earthrise.  We've got some good figures.  I'm just tired of paying more or essentially repurchasing slightly better figures.   You also talked about Beast Wars and Beast Machines and how they weren't out in all markets when they were released.  I was one of those market.  Beast Wars aired late and the second season was airing the same time as the first season of Beast Machines. You all said that there really wasn't much linking them together other the the same characters and voice actors.  When I was that age, mid to late teens, I thought Beast Machines was ripping off Beast Wars.  My little brother who was a tween, thought the same thing.  It was real weird.   Either way.  Still look forward to listening and the new podcast.    Joe S.   P.S. Tell Oscar when he gets back that the rash cleared up and he shouldn't have anything to worry about. —-------------------------------------------   Hey all,   Hopefully the full crew is back and Robert was able to escape from prison.   I'm sure you all talked about it but if not, what are your thoughts on the new studio series prime? We all have spent so much money collecting for this hobby. Will it ever be done for you guys? For me, I go back and forth trying to decide if I actually like collecting these figures or just the initial rush from opening something new.   Do you all collect multiple versions of each character or do you stop when the perfect figure in your eyes comes out? I have so many MP primes but am still getting the fans toys one. I think it depends on the character.   Thanks again for the pod, Emon Discussion: Email your questions to: Hailunicroncast@gmail.com    Special Shoutouts: Dustmightz for providing the beats for the theme song! New Renault Alpine A110s were spotted testing in Fla. Will the divine A110 come to the US? We definitely hope so!5/1/2024 is the 30th anniversary of Aryton Sennas death. We discuss this great and complicated figure.Trauma surgeon safetyThe Porsche 911 turbo turns 50 this year. We say happy birthday! Adams talks about its history and evolution then lists the 5 most collectible models. And then the three of us pick our all-time favorite 911 turbo. A Porsche dealer in Charleston, SC is suing a former sales manager for taking bribes from customers who wanted in-demand cars (think GT3, GT3 RS, 911 S/T, and 911 Turbo S). CoC wonders if this practice isn't more widespread, and why dealerships don't have small committees make these important decisions rather than individual employees. Finally, Steve-0 takes Mercedes to task for dumping too many EQS BEVs on their dealers (who don't want them), having to cut EQS prices by OMG $20,000, and for insisting on making their heretofore wonderful V8 C63 sedan a four-cylinder hybrid. Join at www.Patreon.com/pcartalk Pcar Talk Podcast Show Notes Segment 1: Rezvani Retro Style Porsche Rezvani, known for its tank-like SUVs, is building a retro-style Porsche based on the 992 chassis. The Porsche will be available in three lines: Carrera S, GT3, and TurboS, with only 50 examples to be built. These Porsches won't be bulletproof like their SUVs, and the base kit starts at $150k, requiring the buyer to supply the car. The design is a modern take on the classic 935, and initial renderings look interesting. Discussion Point: Despite not personally associating with the market for Rezvani's SUVs, the high starting price and exclusivity of the retro-style Porsche may attract buyers. Is this a cool concept or just a gimmick, and why? Segment 2: Porsche's Performance at Long Beach Porsche took 3rd place at Long Beach, securing another podium but not a win. The nature of the track made it challenging to make overtakes, with Porsche holding 3rd and 4th positions for most of the race. Discussion Point: Thoughts on Porsche's performance at Long Beach, considering the difficulty of making moves on the track and the team's ability to secure points. Segment 3: Gunther Werks 1995 911 Carrera and the Second-Hand Market Gunther Werks' 1995 911 Carrera, with only 2,289 miles, is for sale at $1.5 million, showcasing the high values of air-cooled Porsches in the second-hand market. This pricing demonstrates the significant second-hand value of these cars, emphasizing the potential for original buyers to make good money. The market for heavily modded/custom-built Porsches is growing, with numerous well-known and lesser-known builders entering the scene. Discussing the sustainability of this market and whether the younger generation will value these custom builds as the current market does. Discussion Point: Considering the growing number of builders and modifications, will these other builders be looked at as the RUF of our generation in 20 or 30 years, and why or why not?
