NHK reported on May 28th that the city of Higashiosaka announced that it has decided to revoke the designation of two offices operated by a nonprofit organization (NPO) providing employment support for people with disabilities, after determining that they fraudulently received over 120 million yen in subsidies by falsifying service provision records. The city is also demanding repayment of the funds. One of the offices responded to inquiries by stating that it plans to contest the decision in court and will seek a reassessment of the penalties. Since this archive episode aired early in our podcast, organizations have paid off billions of dollars in medical debt, and many hospitals have stopped suing patients for small claims. However, the problem of medical debt is far from over and now is the best moment to do something about medical debt. In this interview, Berneta Haynes, Staff Attorney with the National Consumer Law Center, talks in depth about what medical debt is, who is affected by it, why it's a massive issue in the United States, and how to start solving this problem. In the US, getting sick or suffering an accident can lead to costly bills that trap a patient in a debt and disparity cycle when they lack money, insurance coverage, or live with a chronic condition. The National Consumer Law Center seeks to help communities of color and low-income populations by teaching them to manage their debt, handle collectors, and know their rights. Berneta explains the provisions and protections the Affordable Care Act and the No Surprises Act have to protect consumers from unfair medical bills and aggressive collections while highlighting changes and actions that improve the law, reduce debt, and expand the support umbrella across the country. Tune in to learn more about the issue of medical debt and how to tackle it best! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Dan Wetzel, Ross Dellenger & SI's Pat Forde kick off the show by digging deep on how different the spring Transfer Portal window is than the winter one. They analyze why less big name players are entering, and rather more large programs are purging their teams of back end players. They then narrow their focus on Colorado, as Coach Prime loses more players to the portal. They discuss if there's importance in losing former 5-start DB Cormani McClain and if fans should worry about their roster turnover.Later, Dan brings up the final result of Michigan's recruiting investigation. They joke about how during all of this, Jim Harbaugh is out in Los Angels living his best life out in a van. They wrap up the show with two major People's Court incidents: a group of train car beer bandits, and an elephant on the loose in Montana.1:30 Spring Transfer Portal movement29:30 Colorado loses large group of players to the portal41:42 Michigan receives their punishment for their recruiting investigation1:01:52 People's Court: a beer stealing ring, and a loose elephant in Montana

Everyone who slaves over a 50 hour a week job, sacrificing time from the family, the stress of meeting other people's expectations, living paycheck to paycheck, dreams of exiting the rat race. The hope of early retirement drives them to save more, work harder now, and one day they can tell their boss, “Take this job & shove it”. But few understand the reality of what it looks & feels like after that event, and how it is easy to become a non-person in early retirement.
