Twenty-six foreign heads of state and government, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong-un, will attend China's V-Day commemorations, according to Assistant Foreign Minister Hong Lei. Twelve months later, the bloodshed in the region has also spread to Gaza and Lebanon and Iran has been drawn into the conflict.
