Sometimes we need something to pick us up. Few things are better for a tired and aching soul than a melody. My cherished spiritual brother, sweet singer David Dome from London, is my partner in "emunizing" melodies. We take a pleasant melody and add some soul to it with emuna lyrics and David's rendition. Here's a taste of what we did to an old Irish ballad by the name of "Wild Mountain Thyme." Emunized, it's now "Neshama, Come Home". Enjoy it. Lyrics by Rabbi Lazer Brody Music and Vocal by David Dome Oh Mashiach times a comin' And the trees are sweetly bloomin' And The Voice from the mountain Calls in love and in emuna Come home Neshama Come home.... And we'll all go together To hear The Voice on a mountain And we'll sing a song forever Come home Neshama Come home I will then say a prayer By yon high and holy mountain My love song for my Father Flows like waters from a fountain Come home Neshama Come home... And we'll all go together To hear The Voice on the mountain And we'll sing a song forever Come home Neshama Come home..... Come home Neshama come home Neshama come home Hashem forever be with me For there never is another And it's His Voice on the mountain Calling you and me dear brother Come home , Neshama Come home...... And we'll all go together To hear The Voice on the mountain And we'll sing a song forever Come home Neshama Come home My brother Come home My sister Come home Neshama Come home....
After about two months without a sponsor, the Phoenix women have secured one at the eleventh hour.A deal fell over just last week, and the team were starring down the barrel of playing their first game tomorrow without a main sponsor.Today it was announced team finally have not one sponsor but two. They are New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport (NZCIS) - which is has signed on as the principal partner and Comrad Medical Systems has also stepped to become a premium partner.General Manager David Dome says it's taught him just how hard it is to get support for women's sport."A lot of people pay lip service to gender equality and wanting but when push comes to shove very few people come through, and we're lucky today," he told Nick Mills.Listen to the full interview on Wellington Mornings.

The trans-Tasman bubble has finally arrived and will come into effect from April 19, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced today. The news is a huge boost for New Zealand sport, with several teams competing in trans-Tasman competitions and having to base themselves in Australia. Here's all you need to know about what the trans-Tasman bubble means for New Zealand sport.LeagueWarriors CEO Cameron George said today's trans-Tasman bubble announcement was a positive step towards the club returning home later in the NRL season.George confirmed a month ago the Warriors had decided to extend their stay in Australia until June 21 while continuing to monitor developments."Today's announcement of a travel bubble is cause for excitement but it doesn't immediately affect our plans," he said."Our position is that we will stay in Australia until after playing Newcastle on June 19. We had discussions with the NRL and our players and staff about our plan to ensure we have some stability for the first 15 rounds of the season."Our desire hasn't changed. We want to be back home as soon as it's feasible so we can have our team playing in front of our families, members, fans and our supportive sponsors."When it's safe to do so, we look forward to sharing the biggest homecoming party with everyone at Mount Smart Stadium but we need to be absolutely sure we will be able to travel to and from Australia with confidence to ensure our place in the competition isn't jeopardised."As we have done throughout we will keep monitoring the situation and will seek the best possible advice."As it stands, the Warriors' first home game at Mount Smart Stadium will be their 16th-round match against St George Illawarra on Friday, July 2.The Warriors plan to travel to Auckland on June 21 following the clash against the Knights. There is then a break in the NRL schedule for State of Origin's standalone second match at Suncorp Stadium on June 27, giving the Warriors time to relocate to Auckland.RugbyWhile the travel bubble doesn't have any effect on the schedule and format of Super Rugby Aotearoa, the six-week crossover tournament between New Zealand and Australian clubs is set to go ahead.Super Rugby Trans-Tasman will feature an additional 26 games over six straight weeks, kicking off on May 14, with a final scheduled for June. All teams will play two home games and two away games, as well as a potential 'Super Round', where all matches played in round three will be played at one location over one weekend. The trans-Tasman bubble will also likely make All Blacks tests with the Wallabies significantly easier, providing both a financial boost for rugby governing bodies as well as making fan travel possible. In a statement, NZ Rugby said today's announcement "gives us even greater confidence to push forward" with plans for the trans-Tasman Super Rugby competition as it "provides certainty to our teams, fans and stakeholders".Tomer Hemed of the Phoenix in possession. Photo / PhotosportFootballThe Wellington Phoenix, who haven't played an A-League match in New Zealand for over a year, will continue to base themselves out of Wollongong in the New South Wales. However, the Phoenix are open to holding two A-League games in New Zealand following the announcement."Although the club will continue to base itself out of Wollongong in New South Wales until the end of the season, this decision now opens up the possibility to play up to two matches in New Zealand during the 2020/21 A-League season," the club said in a statement."The club has previously stated that returning home is a goal. It's important for the fans, our corporate partners and of course players and staff members - some of whom will have been separated from their families for over six months."In anticipation of such an announcement being made, the club has been working on a plan to have the team and support staff return. This includes travel logistics, liaising with ticket providers and inve...
The Wellington Phoenix won't now kick off their A-League football season until the New Year. The Phoenix are based south of Sydney in Wollongong, which is in one of the affected regions. The A League has decided that all games will remain inter-state in January meaning the Phoenix will now play their opening match of the season against Sydney FC on January 2nd. The Wellington Phoenix will welcome back some old friends - or new foes - to the capital for the first round of the A-League.Their first opponents are expansion club Western United, coached by ex-Phoenix gaffer Mark Rudan, and featuring ex-skipper Andrew Durante among a handful of other Phoenix players.Phoenix coach Ufuk Talay reckons the October 13 match is a great way to start. He's sure they'll give Rudan a great reception. The Phoenix will also play two games at Eden Park in the 2019/20 A-League football season. The new season draw features a December 7th game against Western Sydney, before returning to Auckland in mid-February for a home game against Melbourne City. All other home games are at Wellington's Westpac Stadium.
Wellington Phoenix general manager David Dome hopes the rumours of the club's demise can now be put to bed.Agreement has been reached for the A-League to be spun off from Football Federation Australia into a new commission co-owned by all the clubs. The Phoenix have endured an uncomfortable relationship with the FFA in recent year, forced to meet metrics to survive.Dome says that the move takes all the conjecture off the table that has been around for a while. He says that the financial pressures had not affected players but it had bothered fans. "The chatter you get in the media does unsettle the fans, but in terms of day to day business it hasn't been too bad." He says that there has been no conflict with other A-League clubs about the move. The change comes as Sarpreet Singh announced yesterday he was signing with Bayern Munich. The 20-year-old midfielder has completed the transfer from the Wellington Phoenix and will join the world's fourth largest football club immediately in arguably the largest transfer of a New Zealand football player.Singh has signed for Bayern's youth side Bayern Munich II on a three year deal and will play in the third division of German football next season, with a view of him being a member of their first team should performances go well. The Bayern scouts were made aware of Singh after his standout performances for New Zealand at the under 20 World Cup in Poland."The scouts found me at the World Cup, and then watched some of my Phoenix games in my last couple of seasons in Wellington," Singh said."They flew my family and I over to Germany to look at the facilities and see if I liked them and if this could be my new home for the next three years, at least."Singh said he was humbled that a club the size of Bayern was interested in him and has been impressed with the facilities at the campus that he'll be staying at for the next few months, where he hopes to pick up some German classes."They presented the plan for me when I got here. They see me developing here and if I do well there's always an opportunity to train with the first team. The second team trains at the same time right next to the first team, so if they need players they can easily pull some in."I'm here now for good, I've completed my medicals and testing. I'll stay in Munich until the break, where perhaps there will be some time to come home."Dome says that the transfer of Singh to Bayern Munich was testament to the significant investment the club had made into the Academy and youth programmes."We are thrilled for Sarpreet and his family and are extremely proud of what he has achieved to get to this stage of his career."We wish him all the best in Germany and look forward to seeing him progress all the way through to Bayern's first team as he continues his development as a professional footballer."He says that it is a huge good news story for the club, but the move won't affect the future of the club."Before very long, we'll have our squad for 2021."Singh, a Wellington Phoenix Academy graduate who had a stand out season for the club in the A-League 2018-19 season has played 38 games for the Phoenix' first team, scoring nine goals across two seasons. He joined the club's Academy in 2015 after coming through the Phoenix's Auckland based feeder club, Onehunga Sports where he joined at eight years old before moving to Wellington Phoenix at the age of 16.

The Wellington Phoenix hope taking a home game to Sydney will boost their important crowd metrics.Their February 23 A-League game against Sydney FC will be played at Campbelltown Stadium, across town from their opposition's usual home ground. The Phoenix were told to boost their crowds by A-League bosses if they wanted a licence extension.General manager David Dome says with consecutive home games being played away, it's a chance to boost their crowd tally."We're still yet to see the crowd come back to Wellington in big numbers, so Auckland have become very important in that regard. We're hoping the fans turn out in Sydney."But Dome insists they will still take games to smaller New Zealand centres. He says more New Zealand venues were investigated with Westpac Stadium unavailable, but a mix of financial issues and timings couldn't be sorted.Dome says they will absolutely look at taking games to the likes of Christchurch."They are a good outfit to work with down there, it just wasn't good time for them. We'd like to go back to Waikato, that's a fantastic stadium there, but again the timing wasn't quite right and we couldn't get the model to work there."LISTEN TO DAVID DOME TALK WITH D'ARCY AND GORAN ABOVE
LISTEN TO DAVID DOME TALK WITH D'ARCY AND GORAN ABOVESydney FC 1Wellington Phoenix 3The Phoenix produced one of the best away results of their 12-year history with a 3-1 win in Sydney.Six days after being denied a deserved victory against unbeaten leaders Perth in a match marred by an unwarranted red card, Wellington improved further in an excellent display across the Tasman. The Phoenix were sharper, worked harder and played with greater desperation to upset the odds and add to hopes that an unexpected transformation is under way.A couple of statistics underline the notable nature of this win — the Phoenix had lost seven and drawn one of their last eight games against Sydney; they won just one away game last season and had not even scored an away goal this season before tonight. The result was particularly sweet for Phoenix coach Mark Rudan, an A-League champion with Sydney FC who played alongside several of tonight's opposition staff, including coach Steve Corica. On the back of a dire three-match losing run, Rudan successfully instilled confidence into his side last week for the game against Perth. The focus this week was on being brave and wanting the ball, and Wellington delivered again. After taking six games to score their first goal from open play, the Phoenix were almost unrecognisable from last month's incarnation. Roy Krishna scored a tidy brace and thrived on the service provided by his fellow attackers, with the likes of Sarpreet Singh, Alex Rufer and Mandi a constant threat on the ball. The Phoenix set the pace from the outset, forcing a corner in the opening minute and taking a first shot in the fourth.Sydney responded with the best early chance, Adam Le Fondre clipping a good cross over the crossbar from close range. Le Fondre was lively, showing why he has scored nine goals in as many games since arriving in Sydney, and the Phoenix did well to contain him.But for 20 minutes, Wellington completely outplayed Sydney, scoring three goals. The first two exploited Krishna's pace superbly in the 21st and 30th minutes. For the first, Singh curled an outstanding pass in behind the Sydney defence for the Fijian to run on to, and he produced a composed right-foot finish into the bottom corner. For the second, Mandi passed from a similar position on the left and Krishna scored with his left foot into the opposite corner. It's been quite a week for the Fijian. He became the club's record scorer last Sunday, then a New Zealand citizen on Thursday, and added another two goals tonight before being forced off on the hour with a hamstring complaint. Given his form, the club will be hoping any injury is not serious.Steven Taylor capped a remarkable first half by scoring his first Phoenix goal, guiding a header into the top corner from an excellent Liberato Cacace cross.A Tom Doyle own goal proved the catalyst for a Wellington collapse against Adelaide two weeks ago, with a 1-0 lead turning into a 3-1 defeat. Andrew Durante put the ball into his own net soon after Taylor's goal tonight but the Phoenix were spared a similar examination of their mental toughness when referee Jonathan Barreiro blew for offside.Sydney had more of the play in the second half but Wellington proved frustrating opponents and made the hosts work hard for their only goal, scored in the 89th minute by Michael Zullo after Louis Fenton looked to have been fouled in the build-up. But no matter, the goal was a mere consolation and took little gloss off an outstanding Phoenix performance.Wellington Phoenix 3 (R. Krishna 21, 30, S. Taylor 38)Sydney FC 1 (M. Zullo 89).Halftime: 3-0.
LISTEN TO ROB MORRISON TALK WITH JASON PINE ABOVEFootball Federation Australia has confirmed the decision to red card Wellington Phoenix defender Ryan Lowry against Perth Glory was wrong.Substitute Ryan Lowry was sent off after the VAR reviewed a tackle where his studs brushed a Glory player's legs following a tackle.Perth then scored an equaliser moments later to deny the Phoenix a second win of the season.Phoenix boss David Dome spoke with A-League boss Greg O'Rourke this morning, who has consulted with his head of referees and admitted the call was incorrect. The Phoenix will now be asking to have the red card rescinded.Wellington Phoenix chairman Rob Morrison is calling for Football Federation Australia to be held accountable for the decision.Morrison told Radio Sport's Jason Pine it's not simply a case of censuring the referee involved."We've had issues with the VAR last season and this season and I think we have to look higher up the food chain. The referees have bosses, the referees assessor has a boss. Those are the guys who should be held accountable for this and it is impacting the game," Morrison said."...what you demand from them is consistency and clarity and we don't get that from the refereeing. There needs to accountability and the FFA needs to be held accountable for this and they are not."Morrison had issue for the fact that the Phoenix continue to have referee Adam Kersey in charge of games."We get inexperienced referees. I think there is a clear bias against the Phoenix. The referee last night he goes out, tries to do a job, he doesn't pick which games he gets but he's refed 21 games in four or five years in the A-League. Eight of those games have included the Phoenix. That's not a statistical anomaly it's a statistical bias."Morrison said at some point the FFA have to look at the assignments and 'fairly allocate the referees'."We don't get the experienced referees and it impacts our games."Morrison also said an issue was the lack of funding going into refereeing."The clubs have all demanded that the FFA needs to invest more money into referees. We have some fulltime referees now but you've got to do the same with the assistant referees."Frankly at the moment I don't know why they're called assistant referees because they don't assist the ref. They are linesmen or linespeople and we should go back to calling them that until such time as they do start making decisions."
