Paul's answer to the divisive factions in Corinth is a call to unity: one body, centered on one Lord, sharing one baptism. Paul asks them to consider three profound questions (1 Cor 1:13): Can Christ be divided? Who was crucified for you? Into whose name were you baptized?Experience a call to dive deeper into your baptism. The more we die to ourselves, the clearer stands the cross before our eyes, and the greater our hunger for brotherhood rooted in the finished work of Christ. If we have become wrapped up in our own devices that hide the light of glory, let baptism be our undoing. The sermon today is titled "One Baptism: Sharing A Common Bond." It is the third installment in our series "City Lights: Bearing Witness To A Culture In Crisis." The Scripture reading is from 1 Corinthians 1:10-13 (ESV). Originally preached at the West Side Church of Christ (Searcy, AR) on September 1, 2024. All lessons fit under one of 5 broad categories: Begin, Discover, Grow, Learn, and Serve. Shakespeare's Henry V has its share of great speeches, but the best-remembered in our culture is found in Act IV, Scene III, as the king addresses his men before the Battle of Agincourt, a fight in which they know they are greatly outnumbered. He calls his men a “band of brothers”—very familial words for a mixed group of peasantry and nobility, especially in a society in which one's birth determined so much in one's life. The Apostle Paul continues to call out his own brothers (and a sister!) in the Lord in this final section of 1 Corinthians, people from different backgrounds and stations in life. Like soldiers on a battlefield, they find themselves united by their common mission and love for their King. Their dedication to the mission and to one another encourages us to better our commitments to Jesus and to our brothers and sisters in Christ.

In Psalm 133 we see the heart of God revealed, when we are encouraged to live together in unity. This does not mean that we will agree on everything, or always see eye-to-eye, but rather we have a common bond that ties us together - Jesus! In verses 2 and 3 we are drawn to metaphors that speak to the way in which we should come together, like a fragrant oil made from a variety of ingredients or the morning dew which softens all the ground equally. The bond which ties us is greater than than the differences that divides us.

George Joseph learned the importance of good hospitality from his days as the owner of a Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation business. This lesson served him well when in 2014 he found himself with the task of taking over Common Bond, a single-unit bakery café he had invested in. The popular bakery received critical acclaim but was difficult to operate and not financially successful.   Join us as George shares his story of a company restructure, commissary kitchen development, corporate team building and expansion to the current 12 units with 2 more under development. Common Bond presents an updated version of the European neighborhood bakery coffeehouse offering an equal amount of savory and sweet items, coffee, and sandwiches.   In this episode, we learn how Common Bond developed and successfully operates multiple versions of the brand. The "Bistro" concept is their counter service bakery/café, the "Brasserie" offers full-service evening service while the "On the Go" is the smaller, limited menu drive-thru version.   "Multiple presentations of our concept doesn't create any additional difficulty, instead it provides us greater opportunities for expansion," says George. "The runway of core menu offerings, color scheme and certain design elements are consistent in all variations.”   George's simple 3 steps of service teach his philosophy of Greet, Engage and Serve! This people-first approach to hospitality has resulted in a positive work environment full of motivated staff and satisfied guests.

On this episode, we are joined by keyboardist and songwriter Ojo Taylor, guitarist and writer Gym Nicholson, long-time lead vocalist Sim Wilson, and drummer Gary Olsen of the Orange County rock band Undercover for an expansive conversation recorded in front of a live audience at the Audiofeed Festival in Illinois. Undercover emerged in the early 1980s at the pole position of the frenetic “second wave” of Jesus Rock that saw an explosion of New Wave, Punk, Rock, and pop bands like Lifesavors, Altar Boys, Lifters, Common Bond, Crumbacher, Youth Choir, and others fill high school auditoriums, bowling alleys, parks, and church youth halls with a righteous racket that thrilled teens, worried some parents, and eventually set the stage for the big business era of Christian rock in the 90s. Ojo Taylor not only led Undercover, though, he was also a curator of this bourgeoning scene – managing labels, producing albums, and putting together one of the most important early compilation albums – which spins when we crank up the now sticker-covered Jukebox for an overview of those heady, loud, formative years.   Ojo made more waves in what's left of this underground community when he publicly admitted that he no longer holds the same religious beliefs for which he rocked so passionately back in the day. Like others, his personal spiritual journey has taken him in a direction that does not include the Evangelical faith of his younger years. But earlier this year, when a Christian music festival invited the long-defunct band to reunite for a special show, they agreed – and rocked Audiofeed (and before that, the Anaheim House of Blues) quite successfully. Why would a band with differing beliefs agree to gigs like those?   As Ojo says, “Belief is overrated. Agreement is overrated. Love is underrated.”   Find full Show Notes, including photos and video from Undercover's set at Audiofeed HERE or at TrueTunes.com/Undercover   Undercover Music List   Opening Segment Phil Keaggy & Rex Paul – Full Circle (podcast theme) Undercover – Man, O, Man; World Come Crashing Down; He's In Love With You   Interview Segment Undercover – Excuse Us; I'll Be a Fool; Daddy-O; God Rules; Cry Myself to Sleep; Darkest Hour; Is Anyone Thirsty?; Work It Out; Devotion; Dark Night; Bridge of Life; One to One; Promenade; Land of Luxury The Altar Boys  – I'm Into God Freedom of Soul – Caught in a Land of Time   JUKEBOX Blessed Hope – Something More Bob & Joy Cull – Sail Away Undercover – One of These Days The Proclaimers (U.S.) – Rejoice Stephen Crumbächer – It Don't Matter Youth Choir – It's So Wonderful The Lifters – Listen Children The Omega Band – Idols Sharon McCall – From the Grave C.I.A. – Your Choice Malcolm and the Mirrors – Apathy The Altar Boys – Go for You Lifesavers – She's On Fire SFC – Phase III Adam Again – Eyes Wide Open The Electrics – Get to Heaven The Violet Burning – Low (Third Wave) The Prayer Chain – Chatterbox (Third Wave) D.A.S. – Beautiful World (Third Wave) Dakoda Motor Co. – Wind ‘N' Sea (Fourth Wave) Mortal – Paradigm One (Fourth Wave) Fold Zandura – Deep Surround Seven Day Jesus – Strength   Spot Breaks Phil Keaggy & Mike Pachelli – Maccadocious (Two of Us)

Welcome to Episode #12 of the Last Call Trivia Podcast! As always, our show kicks off with three general knowledge Trivia questions in Round One to get the ball rolling. In Round Two, our Trivia Team gets to try their hand at a round of questions all about genericized trademarks. Round OneToday's show starts off with a Books Trivia question about a multinational conglomerate publishing company that was founded in 2013. Next up, we have an Anatomy Trivia question…or is it a spelling Trivia question? Either way, our Trivia Team brainstorms through a handful of the 206 bones in the human body in search of the correct answer.Round One concludes with a Movies Trivia question about a heated debate between Ben Affleck and the director of Armageddon. Bonus QuestionToday's Bonus Question is a follow-up to the Armageddon question in Round One. So if you're a big fan of the movie listen up…or maybe don't. Because in today's Bonus Question, we're talking about the number of scientific inaccuracies in the film as called out by NASA themselves. Spoiler alert: it's a lot.Round TwoAs usual, Round Two of the game is themed after a particular topic, and today we're talkin' about Genericized Trademarks Trivia. P.S., the common bond between zippers, aspirin, and popsicles is that they're all genericized trademarks themselves! Round Two starts with a Tools Trivia question. One member of the Trivia Team is able to draw on their experience from theater set design to help brainstorm some potential answers.Next up, we have a Products Trivia question which is a fittingly general category for the theme of genericized trademarks.Round Two wraps up with a Language Trivia question that allows our Trivia Team full of Anglophiles to put their knowledge of British slang to good use. Final QuestionIt's time to finish up the game strong with a multi-part Final Question in the category of Companies. Who's ready to show off their business acumen??In today's Final Question, the Trivia Team is asked to name the country where four specific companies were founded. While the Team is able to breeze through most of them, one particular company throws them through a loop. Listen in to see if you can reason your way to the right answer!

Technology. Community. Common Bond. NFTs are here to stay. After being in the space for some time, we have realized that NFTs can create an experience that nothing else can. They give direct access from business owner to customer in the forms of discounts, promotions, meet-ups, private events, and more NFTs. The possibilities are endless. With Project Sandlot we want to build an experience for athletes and sports fans, alike. We all were once kids that had to head down to the park or the ball field to play pick up. Well now, we can recreate that feeling with your own digital representation on the blockchain! Beyond that, Major League University is established in the mindset and leadership field for athletics. This will become an access token to all things MLU via discounts, freebies, and events. This is all very confusing to some people and that is OK. We will continue to educated and help anyone that asks! We want you to enjoy this technology and the communities as much as we have since this journey began. Enjoy and have a great day. #NFT #NFTCollection #NFTCommunity #ProjectSandlot ************************************************************** Twitter: @ProjectSandlot Website: www.majorleagueuniversity.com (ProjectSandlot Coming Soon!) What is up, we are back. You might know us as Major League University but we are coming to you as Project Sandlot but we will get to that in a minute. A lot of our audience is really unfamiliar with what we are going to get into today. Stay till the end and you are going to get some really good information in terms of what we are going to get into, what Project Sandlot is and what is an NFT which we are going to dive into shortly. But first, Ray Mac, how are you doing? I am great! I am just so excited and it is a whole new world! I think our heads have been spinning a little bit because we have too many ideas but we are narrowing it down and I am so excited about it. Well let's get down to it, what are NFTs? It stands for Non-fungible token, and basically it is something that is represented on the block chain. So you are taking a token, or a digital representation of anything. It can represent art, tickets, videos. For us it will be simple .jpegs as well as providing access. So further beyond the art, which is great, it is almost like an all access pass to everything that we are about and the people that we are going to partner with. We will get more into that but it is basically a ticket that never expires. That is a great way to put it. How does it all work? New NFTs. Make an NFT. What is in an NFT?
