HUGE thanks to Claudio for sitting down and chatting. It was awesome to hear from someone that has RACED in some of the biggest races in the world, won a National Championship in Team Pursuit, and now coaches at Astana. If you like training articles, be sure to check out the blog, and get in touch with us for a Free Power File Analysis. www.evoq.bike/blog Now, to the show notes: The early years; what was "training" like when Claudio was young UCI Races as a Junior, how did his training get broken up amongst rides with friends? 2006-2010: The Pro Years! Running indoor experiments in his lab...aka basement! Can you increase someone's internal motivation? What was training like in the U23 years (we jumped around a bit) What's the most important thing in training...no, he didn't say consistency or volume!! This was a good one. A great chat around: 1) Strength and Power 2) Aerobic Power 3) Endurance Long Rides --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/evoqbike/support

The cyclocross social podcast is back for the 2021-22 season! Today Noah is joined by Twan and Issam to talk about the Worldcup in Tabor! Todays main talking point is the win of Lars van der Haar, who won his first worldcup since 2017! We dive into what made the difference today for him, why Iserbyt didnt win for once, and what Hermans could have done without his puncture. We also talk about Vincent Baestaens, David van der Poel and the Italian duo of Bertolini and Dorigoni. For the womens race we talk about the insane ride by Pieterse today. Could she have done anything different in order to take the win, or was Brand just too strong? We also look at the race from Betsema, Alvarado and Wost. After that we take a short look at some U23 riders who did good today, as they didnt get a separate race. The Men U23 did get a separate race however, so we do take a look at the results of that race, aswell as the resutls of the juniors races. Listen to this, and much more, in this episode of the cyclocross social podcast! Any comments, reactions and feedback can be sent to Noah@cyclocrosss.com

The cyclocross social podcast is back for the 2021-22 season. In todays episode Noah, Twan and Issam talk about the first round of the X²O Badkamers Trofee which took place on the Koppenberg. There wasnt a lot to say about the mens race, as Eli Iserbyt was just simply a cut above the rest. So, the focus isnt on that, but more on where he stands against the big 3. We also discuss the comments about Pauwels Sauzen potentially becoming Pro Conti to ride a Grand Tour. As usual there is time to talk about some other riders in the top 10, like the duo Meeusen Loockx from Hens Maes and Michael Vanthournhout who didnt have a great day. There was much more to discuss about the womens race, with the win of Clara Honsinger being the main topic of the day. Also attention for the strange news around Alvarado and Worst, who have had strange reports about their injuries. The podcast ends with a look at the U23 race and the other races in Europe. Listen to this and much more in this episode of the cyclocross social podcast!

Hvordan startede hans rejse i cykelsporten? Hvem hjalp ham? She has been the USA Triathlon National Team's youngest member since she first made the team in 2017. Knibb was inspired to become a triathlete as a child after she watched her mom, Leslie Knibb, compete in an IRONMAN race and noticed the positive atmosphere. She tried a kids' race and was hooked on the sport from there, working her way through USA Triathlon's youth elite and junior elite pipelines. Up to this day, her favorite part of competing in triathlons is the camaraderie within the triathlon community, as well as the challenge of always growing and improving within the sport. In high school, she joined her school's cross-country team and swam for Nation's Capital Swim Club while continuing to compete in triathlons. She was named the Washington D.C. Gatorade Cross Country Runner of the Year and the D.C. State Athletic Association Runner of the Year in both 2014 and 2015. She was the 2015 and 2016 USA Triathlon Junior Elite national champion, the 2015 ITU Junior World Championships silver medalist, the 2016 and 2017 ITU Junior World Champion and the 2018 Under-23 World Champion— one of just three women ever to capture world titles at both the Junior and U23 levels. She also became the youngest woman to earn a spot on the podium at an ITU World Triathlon Series race in 2017, earning silver in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.   Knibb is a 2020 graduate of Cornell, where she ran NCAA track and cross-country for four years while balancing her elite triathlon career. She also joined the Cornell swim team her senior year. Today, Knibb trains in Boulder, Colorado, with Origin Performance Squad, an elite international training group coached by Ian O'Brien. Knibb considers the ITU Under-23 World Championships to be one of her favorite moments of her career because she accomplished a solid performance across all three disciplines.   Elite Triathlon Career 2021: Won gold at the 2021 World Triathlon Championship Series Yokohama on May 15, qualifying for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Triathlon Team • Made her Olympic debut on July 27 in Tokyo, placing 16th in the women's individual event • Won a silver medal in the debut of Triathlon Mixed Relay at the Olympic Games, alongside U.S. teammates Katie Zaferes, Kevin McDowell and Morgan Pearson. In a statement, the cyclocross champion announced that she never knowingly took a banned substance, and she made the decision to retire back in March. Fifteen-time U.S. national cyclocross champion Katie Compton, 42, has received a four-year suspension on competition from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) after testing positive for a banned substance, the agency announced on August 11. Compton tested positive for an anabolic agent on an out-of-competition test taken on September 16, 2020. “Her urine sample was analyzed using a specialized test, known as Carbon Isotope Ratio testing, that differentiates between anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) naturally produced by the body and prohibited anabolic agents of external origin. Anabolic agents have powerful performance-enhancing capabilities and can give an athlete an unfair advantage over fellow competitors,” the USADA statement explained. Compton's ban begins retroactively, from the day her positive sample was taken. That means all of her results, race points, and prizes received since September 16, 2020, are forfeit. Compton released a statement addressing the USADA's announcement. She said her results for that sample originally came back negative for any banned substances. USADA decided to re-test it after her Athlete Biological Passport (bio-passport) was flagged for an “irregularity.” The second test of the sample came back positive for an anabolic androgenic steroid, Compton said. “This news comes with great heartache and sadness, and it is the worst possible way to end my cycling career. I need to preface this news with the fact that I have always been a clean athlete, and I am proud of how much I have accomplished racing clean and being very careful with whatever I put into my body, especially after dealing with so many health issues throughout my life. I provided a sample for USADA in September 2020 that came back negative for any banned substances, it was not even atypical. That news was communicated to me in the same way it has always been via a letter from USADA. I've received that same letter after every test I've submitted for the last 19 years. In early February of 2021, after returning from a difficult race season, I learned that the same sample from September was re-analyzed due to a bio-passport irregularity and found to be positive for an exogenous anabolic steroid. This was devastating news to me as I have never intentionally or knowingly put anything like that into my body. I know how delicate women's hormones are, and I would never choose to take anything to jeopardize my health and, as a result, suffer irreparable damage to my endocrine system. And not only that, I never took anything for ethical and moral reasons; I've been a strong proponent of clean sport my entire career and feel doing anything to enhance one's own natural ability is cheating, full stop.” Compton also said that she decided to retire in March. You can read her full statement here.   What's New in the 303: Boulder 70.3, Course Record Smoked, Electric Crowd, Close Women's Pro Race The male winner, Sam Long who grew up a few miles away, capped a perfectly imperfect day by setting a new course record. The temperature, cooler than predicted, helped keep the day from blowing up. The winds and smoke played havoc with some, but they ushered in many stories and memories on a course shared by a recent Olympian, top pro's and 2,500 age group athletes from all over the country. Emma Pallant-Browne won the women's race and moved up six spots in the PTO rankings making her an almost shoe-in for a captains pick (to be announced Thursday) for the upcoming Collins Cup. Not only did she take home $7,500 for winning Saturday, she will make at least $18,000 by making the European Collins Cup team. Olympian Taylor Knibb's debut performance at a 70.3 could hardly be called beginners luck finishing second, but she did learn a few things like needing to master the water cup grab; check out this interview with her. It will be interesting if she might be a captains pick for the Collins Cup even though her ranking puts her far out of the field (because she has been racing short, ITU races).  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgPCrcBc7eQ   Triple Bypass August 21 Packet Pick-up Please being a facemask, just in case local requirements change for indoor activity. "Staadionijutud" | Lishanna Ilves: pärast EM-i olen kodus peamiselt tööd teinud

Kergejõustikuteemalises taskuhäälingusaates „Staadionijutud“ on augusti esimeses episoodis külalise rollis selle suve üks silmapaistvamaid atleete, Eesti kõigi aegade kolmandaks kaugushüppajaks kerkinud Lishanna Ilves. 21-aastane Ilves krooniti juunis esmakordselt täiskasvanute klassis Eesti meistriks suurepärase isikliku rekordi 6.66-ga. Paar nädalat hiljem Tallinnas toimunud U23 vanuseklassi EM-il teenis Nebraskas esimese ülikooliaasta seljataha jätnud naine kuuenda koha 6.42-ga. „Pärast Euroopa meistrivõistlusi võtsin aja täiesti maha kaheks nädalaks. Pärast EM-i olengi kodus tööd teinud,“ sõnab Järvamaalt pärit kergeatleet esialgu veidi üllatuslikult. Seejärel selgitab ta: „Meie perel on Koerust kolme kilomeetri kaugusel oma talu. Ette tuleb loomade karjatamist ja kõike muud, mida talus on vaja teha. Ehitame näiteks praegu lihaveisekarjale aedu. See on füüsiliselt päris raske, sest kuuekilose kuvaldaga tuleb poste maasse taguda. Näiteks mu jõunäitajad on praegu äärmiselt kehvad. Hvordan startede hans rejse i cykelsporten? Hvem hjalp ham? Hvorfor blev han ikke World Tour-rytter efter U23-VM-bronzemedaljen i 2017? Hvorfor stoppede han karrieren i en alder af bare 25 år? Og hvordan husker han de store opture og hårde nedture? Alt det sætter en ærlig og reflekteret Michael Carbel ord på i dette portræt over 3 etaper. Navn: Michael Carbel Svendgaard Født: 7. februar 1995 Hold: Horsens Cykleklub (2006-2011) Team Blue Water Junior (Herning) - 2012 og 2013 Cult Energy (CT) - 2014 og 2015 (PCT) Team Stölting (PCT) - 2016 Team Virtu Cycling (CT) - 2017 Team Fortuneo Samsic (PCT) - 2018 Team WAOO (CT) - 2019 NTT Pro Cycling (WT) - 2020 Vært: Anders Mielke

Haley Batten burst onto the elite World Cup scene this year, taking the podium at back-to-back races in Nové Mesto and Albstadt, and securing herself a place on Team USA for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. Haley joins Payson from her training camp in Italy to talk about the whirlwind of success she's achieved during her first year out of U23. They talk about why her first podium came at a moment when she was beginning to doubt herself, how her mindset has changed since she made the Olympic team, and what it's been like to race against longtime friend Kate Courtney. They also talk about her life off the bike, most notably her choice to pursue higher education. She explains why getting a college degree remains so important to her, why she chose an unconventional approach to education, and her experiences going to university in Canada.

Episode 8 is here, download on all platforms, link is here - https://linktr.ee/insidejoggingpodcast   With my day ruined yesterday by penalties on Sunday, we recorded a day later than usual. Big week in British running as Bird & Muir set records in Monaco, the U23's were in action at the Euro Championships in Tallinn and 10000m English champs are crowned at FastFriday (which Josh Lunn was absent from). Huge week in English football too, but I'm not prepared to talk about yet. Josh Lunn professionally announced his injury for the fans on Instagram, and was a DNS for Fast Friday 10,000m (another DNS for the Inside Jogging Podcast team...). He's been busy not running, but we don't think he's entirely sure that he knows what his achilles is. He's also not the happiest this week, so its a cheery show for you all! Matthew Clowes kicked off his week with a 4:45am run, and has been out on his travels again. Only one brief hotel review this week, but has a nice downhill tempo and a beautifully consistent long run session to talk about. He's happier than the other two, and talks us through a work morning that involves decapitated heads.   Aaron Scott is depressed, but tries to put on a brave face, after all it's only another 55 years to wait until the next one. He has had an up and down week, but finished it off with a half decent tempo on Friday and a solid long run with the boys on Sunday. He's not happy about the UK footpath scene, and is considering writing into the local councils with his complaints.   Don't be shy, send us in your comments, feedback and reviews and we might give you a shout out on a future show. In the mean time, have an average week and we will be back on track with a show next Monday. The next one will include a big interview, as we finally get our lives back on track and organise this thing!

Professional soccer player Foster Langsdorf joins Max and Michael in this week's Marathon Minute episode.  Max and Foster go way back, having competed against each other in the college and pro ranks, and played as teammates for Portland's U23 team and Timbers 2.  Foster grew up in Vancouver, WA and saw soccer as an outlet of energy and expression at an early.  He was not highly recruited coming out of high school, with no scholarship offers and eventually accepting an opportunity to walk on at Stanford.  Foster went on to make the team and in the next four years become a 3 time national champion, 2 time all American, 2 time pac 12 player of the year, and all time leading goalscorer in pac 12 history.  But Foster didn't stop there, he signed as a homegrown for his childhood club the Portland Timbers and is now playing in his 4th season in MLS. Tune in to hear Foster talk about his thoughts seeing Max get sent off after a foul on him, his mindset in evolving from a walk on to all American, the difference between motivation and discipline, some of the origins of his work ethic and some amazing stories.

And both talk about why having creative outlets makes them better racers.
