October 23, 1993 The sixth game in the Toronto Blue Jays -- Philadelphia Phillies World Series was a rematch between Game 2 starters Terry Mulholland and Dave Stewart. Toronto scored in the bottom of the first on a Paul Molitor triple, Joe Carter sacrifice fly, and Roberto Alomar RBI single. Paul Molitor added a solo home run in the fifth inning while the Toronto fans were chanting "MVP" for Paul, bringing the score to 5--1 for Toronto. Ultimately, Molitor became the first player in World Series history to have at least two home runs, two doubles, and two triples. In the seventh inning, Philadelphia fought back with five runs to take a 6--5 lead. The big hit of the inning was a Lenny Dykstra three-run homer. The inning brought an end to Stewart's night, leaving the game with six innings pitched and four runs given up. Philadelphia closer, Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams came on to pitch the bottom of the ninth with his team clinging to a 6--5 lead. After beginning the inning by walking Rickey Henderson, Williams tried to counter Henderson's speed by using a slide-step pitching delivery. This was the first time in his career he used the slide step and his pitch speed may have been decreased as a result. The walk to Henderson was followed by a Devon White fly out and Paul Molitor would single, moving Henderson to second. Joe Carter came up next and with the count 2--2, he hit a three-run home run to win the game and the World Series crown. That pitch allowed Blue Jays radio announcer Tom Cheek the opportunity to utter his famous quote "Touch 'em all, Joe" when Joe Carter ended the series. Carter joined Bill Mazeroski as one of the only two players to win a World Series with a home run in the bottom of the ninth inning of the deciding game.

Francisco Lindor joined the 20-20 club for the third time in his career last night, becoming the first Met to do so since Carlos Beltrán in 2008, and a moment he took pride in. There are more footsteps that Lindor can follow from Beltrán, an elite group that he'll have the chance to join in the next few seasons.Beltrán hit 435 home runs in his career and stole 312 bases, making him the only switch-hitter to go 300-300 in his career. Lindor is currently at 206-145, and he's 29 years old. More than doubling his career steals on the back end is a huge ask, but with the new bigger bases and his great speed and baseball sense, Lindor should have a good shot at going 200-200.Only four other switch-hitters have joined that club with Beltrán: charter member Howard Johnson, Devon White, Roberto Alomar, and Jimmy Rollins.Soon enough, there will be another player in the club near and dear to Lindor: his former Cleveland teammate José Ramírez is just eight steals away from getting to 200 to go with 210 dingers. Ramírez is two homers and two steals away from matching Johnson with five 20-20 seasons. The only switch-hitter with more is Beltrán, who did it seven times. This is a public episode. Fans were able to re-live those memories as the stars like Joe Carter, Dave Winfield and Devon White came back to town to celebrate the occasion. That team also had a few connections to its Pioneer League affiliate that won its first title a decade earlier. This week marks the 40th anniversary of the Medicine Hat Blue Jays taking home what would become its only championship. Pat Borders, David Wells and Jimmy Key were among those who were with the Baby Jays that season. On this week's episode, we take a trip down memory lane with a couple of key members of that team: Keith Gilliam and Kash Beauchamp.

I could talk about Scapie's arrogance, Rory's cruelty, and Frank's devastation here...but I would rather focus on the title of the episode. How amazing is that? Has a more glorious phrase ever been penned, let alone uttered? What does it mean? Can you really imagine it? It's a powerful image...one that leaves me awestruck. Astounding. Featuring: Epic Echoes, Series 3, Episode 10: "Hit the Books," in which the Flashpack meets the infamous Baroness Bertha von Sutner; Rory St. John's This Day in History and update Where Are They Now In History, giving important lawncare advice; Tract or Fiction?, Series 4, Episode 01: "The Thing," a tale of horror and demonic possession totally better than The Exorcist; Scapie Stories from a Cat in the Dark, in which Scapie tells us his version of S. Baring-Gould's "On the Leads," to Devon White; a few leftovers of Listener Mail; deep soulsearching for the four hosts. POP! Download it now! AND, send your comments to castinwax@gmail.com!

Scapie returns from his exile (be it in discrace or no) and it welcomed back with open arms. Rory St. John tries to begin a new section of the show...we'll see if it catches on. Meanwhile, Frank and Jordan have a mild disagreement, towards the end. Featuring: Guard Duty, Series 4, Episode 09: "Golden Rules," wherein The Stallion and one fo the new recruits discuss the Earth Guard and Guard Duty; Rory St. John's This Day in History and update Where Are They Now In History, ruminating on car insurance, and lying a bit; Debatitorium, Series 2, Episode 06: "Chocolate vs. Vanilla," beginning the second round by definitively deciding between the two flavors; Scapie Stories from a Cat in the Dark, in which Scapie tells us his version of William Maginn's "The Man in the Bell," to Devon White; a cruel jape of Listener Mail; back to the usual for the four hosts.
