SOMETHING came from Baltimore the Podcast" is now has it's own show called, "Something came from Baltimore THE SHOW!" You can hear the show on exclusively on "TheBocX.com" Thursday's at 7:00pm EST. I recommend that you check out this radio station, it has a sound that I really love. There is something special going on. This was my first interview EVER! So I was so excited and I waited and waited and waited for her to call me, and I was supposed to call her. I never made that mistake again. So, she really only have 15 minutes left to chat and we knocked it out. The radio used an editor at the station to edit the interview and I did not like it. This is mine....I like it! I am a big fan of Joey DeFrancesco I used to watch him when he was a young guy in Philadelphia with his Dad at the Orltibz Jazzhaus. It was in Northern Liberties which was totally run down at the time and down right scary, but you would hear the music a block away and when you opened the doors, there really was not a stage, but the band was basically in your face it was a long room and you had to walk around the band to get to a seat. Papa John and Joey D had duel Hammond B, it was pretty awesome. What did not make the interview was that I saw Joey in a Soul Food Restaurant in Atlantic City and he said that was one of the worst sets up ever and they still talk about it. It was a mess, I paid $25 to sit behind the band. "In the Key of the Universe" was my favorite album of 2019, I will always be a fan of Joey D's. San Gabriel 7 is a Blues, Funky, Jazz Band from the LA area, they have been around for years but this album they joined up with Femi Knight on vocals and she cooked up some great lyrics. I can only compare this band to Steely Dan, awesome musicians and layers of disarming mystery woven into the lyrics. The album is called, "Red Dress" come listen in and enjoy the party. Music Star on the Rise alert. I have Vanessa Collier on the phone with me today on Something came from Baltimore. Vanessa is my first artist that I interviewed for the podcast twice. The first time, was back in June 25, 2019 the episode was called, Vanessa Collier is gonna back you cry. The interview was more of a fandom expression, Vanessa’s latest album, “Honey Up” was released in 2018, so I just wanted to chat with her about her young career. In the Baltimore area, Vanessa OWNS the blues scene as her blankets the tristate with live shows, and they sell out. Vanessa is always picking up awards, two years in a row 2019 and 2020 she won the Best Instrumental Horn award. And today, I got stuff to chat about, Vanessa Collier just released a follow up to “Honey Up” and it is called, “Heart on the Line” released on August 21,2020. This collection is mint R&B soul with some good blues. Vanessa plays the sax put on this recording, she focuses on my the vocals, and the tunes are catchy and solid. In 2017, Billy recorded, Rebirth and picked up a Grammy Award for Best Jazz album in 2018. I loved "Rebirth" and ranked it in my Top 3 albums of the year. So, I was excited to learn that Billy Childs just released a new recording on August 28, 2020 on the Mack Avenue Record label called, "Acceptance” and just like "Rebirth", it is a memorable and an instant classic recording. This is a fun interview with Billy Childs, were we play "20 Questions" at first he was reluctant but by the end of the interview we chatted for over an hour, and went deep into topics he normally does not get a chance to talk about. Brenda Nicole Moorer is triple threat, a stunning model, and in demand working actress, a jazz singer who is channeling 70’s R&B retro vibes from legendary soul singers Minnie Riperton , Melba Moore, and Phyllis Hyman. The album is on the Ropeadope Record Label and it is called, "MARROW". "MARROW" is a band-aid for the soul, it uplifts and chills you out, like legendary albums for the 70’s…it feels good. Keep Brenda Nicole Moorer on your radar, she is an a fast track to stardom similar to Gregory Porter and Janette Monet Buy the Album: https://www.brendanicolemoorer.com/ Remember to subscribe to SOMETHING came from Baltimore! Imagine: What if you were 22 years old and you just released your debut album and it is a hit? How would you feel? That is a question that I get to ask Immanuel Wilkins, who is a 22 year saxophonist from Philly, who happen to meet up with pianist Jason Moran, who latter will produce his first album, and will get a “green light” from Don Was the boss of the Blue Note Jazz label. The album is called, OMEGA and it was released on August 7, 2020 and a month a later, you have a hit on your hands Today on the phone I have Immanuel Wilkins and we will chat about OMEGA, cheese steaks, and Mary Turner. We are dipping back into the breaks this week because the talent in Bobby Buzz is undeniably great. With a heart-felt foot in the past, Bobby plays from a tracklist decorated with all manner of famous if not infamous samples. But its with the other foot in progress that he pushes breaks and basslines to fresh place that only creatives dare to go. The combined effect keeps you both guessing and moving. Two features of dance floor that we just can't live without. Enjoy this set with many stylings from his recent gig at Future Sound of Breaks in Orlando. Like Jason Brown says. "Yeah, he's a bad ass." Listeners familiar with Nihal Kanwar aka Trafficc’s boxout.fm show ‘Rush Hour’ know that this New Delhi DJ tailors his selections for an intense time on the dancefloor. Reflecting some 80s and 90s reminiscent raw energy, his hectic mix for Wild City is no exception.. Nihal adopted the name Trafficc after realising that the credit for his expansive sonic palette goes to all the hours he spent listening to music while stuck in New Delhi’s traffic. His dynamic taste in music, meanwhile, can be traced back to his formative years which involved lessons in western vocals and Indian classical music, starting a punk band, being a metalhead, and hosting hip-hop artists in his college dorm room. The ability to traverse through styles, thus, is inherent for Nihal, and it comes into effect in this mix. Unified by the aim of keeping the listener sweating it out on the dancefloor, the tracklist features cheerful electro, jarring techno, energetic breakbeat and heavy hardcore. The set’s consistently high intensity is driven by contrasting moments (like when Nihal follows up the dark techno of Russell E.L. Butler’s ‘Tree Frog Whistle’ with the gleeful breaks of ‘Second Movement’ and ‘Don’t Go’). Nihal’s own collaboration with Monophonik, titled ‘Lose Yo Mind’, which features on the mix, blends seamlessly with Jensen Interceptor’s adrenaline-pumping electro and DJ Normal 4’s leftfield take on ‘La Arabia’ - complimenting Nihal’s reputation as a producer as well as a DJ. New Music Worldwide is a weekly mix series hosted by Thris Tian. This week’s New Music Worldwide comes from DJ Normal 4. DJ Normal 4 is a founding member and co-creator of Aiwo Rec. Raised close to Düsseldorf in the Ruhr Area, a former strong and lively industrial conglomerate city. It is now a bygone and dead epicentre of German heavy Industry, full of dusty factory skeletons and abandoned industrial complexes. This harsh backdrop is evident in his productions. One foot in the fields of the the glorious summer of ‘92′ and one in the ‘no future 4 ever‘ sounds emanating from Düsseldorf via Amsterdam to London, Lyon to The Hague today. With high praised releases for respected Berlin label Klasse Wrecks his sound has captured the zeitgeist that led to killer remixes on Dekmantel, Especial and more.

Originating from Hong Kong Mr. Ho has amassed a serious reputation as a selector and label boss through his imprint Klasse Wrecks alongside Luca Lozano. The label has carved a niche for itself through it's visual identity associated with early rave culture and nostalgic days spent dancing. However, the releases themselves have been strong and singular in their sound. Dj Fett Burger, Cardopusher, Helena Hauff, Marco Bernardi, Dj Normal 4 and many others have all released records with the label which was only formed in 2015. Fast paced and assertive Klasse Wrecks is hot property. Mr. Ho is sought after as a disc jockey, his sets tastefully curated and diverse in style. We are delighted to have him contribute to our Ransom Note mix series...

In an age of odd dj names there is little as bizarre as that of Dj Normal 4. The mysterious producer has amassed a reputation as a bit of a breakbeat connoisseur in recent months having released music on Klasse Wrecks and Brothers From Different Mothers. More recently he has also featured collaboratively alongside Luca Lozano and Bufiman. His sound quite clearly draws upon influences found amongst the golden days of rave culture. Old school samples and broken percussion feature heavily amongst his sets and in much of his own music. His online presence would indicate that he might not take himself too seriously, which in a time when techno dj's seem to be becoming increasingly moody is much appreciated. We are delighted to be able to welcome Dj Normal 4 to our mix series for an edition which is anything but predictable.
INTERVIEW > inverted-audio.com/mix/dj-normal-4-luca-lozano @djnormal4 and @lucalozano unleash gusty hails of fast-hitting drums, catchy hooks and shredding breaks all wrapped in one, geared towards smashing up the most milk-warm dancefloors out there.
