The Los Angeles Dodgers went into Tuesday night riding a four-game losing streak, hoping that Clayton Kershaw could get them back into the win column to calm fans' nerves. However, it was the Milwaukee Brewers' young buck Jacob Misiorowski who outdueled the future Hall of Famer, handed LA another loss and started to raise some concerns among the Dodger Blue faithful. Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss why they're not overly concerned about the Dodgers' recent play and what big problem does worry them if it's not fixed by the postseason. They then dive into the extremely impressive 10-game winning streak by the Toronto Blue Jays, leaving them one win shy of tying their franchise record that now sees them alone at the top of the AL East. Later in this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake and Jordan are joined by Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Bryson Stott to talk about his time in Philly, taking pride in being a batter who sees a lot of pitches and why it might take a little while for Las Vegas to catch onto baseball. The guys then close the show by discussing the home run race between Aaron Judge and Cal Raleigh, before sharing some insights on the 2025 Futures Game and Home Run Derby.(1:40) - The Opener: The Miz outduels Kershaw(13:17) - Dodgers' struggles(22:52) - Blue Jays on a 10-game win streak(30:04) - Bryson Stott joins the show!(42:56) - Around the League: Fallout in D.C.(48:00) - 2025 home run race (52:11) - All-Star Week updates Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:

An eventful week of Brewers baseball included a 4-3 record, including a thrilling debut for top prospect Jacob Misiorowski, who worked five no-hit innings in a 6-0 win. His arrival also meant an abrupt departure for Aaron Civale, traded to the White Sox after expressing dissatisfaction with his move to the bullpen. Plus: The Brewers may have just been right about Quinn Priester. The confusing nature of Freddy Peralta. The continued struggles of Joey Ortiz. An offense that still needs a spark. In Three Up Three Down (47:00), there's some tension in a battle with the Cardinals, Sal Frelick's screamer and Abner Uribe continues to shine. In Remembrew When (1:03:30), a look back to the 1980s and perhaps the buzziest pitching debut in franchise history. Curt Blanche (1:08:00) tackles a popular food item. Then, JR sits down with Jacob Misiorowski himself (1:15:15), talking his memories growing up watching the Royals, Miz the wrestler, the Futures Game, draft night and how he tops that first outing. Record Date: 7/7/2024 Rundown [Intro] Colson Montgomery was named to MLB's Futures Game. Montgomery spoke to how his 2024 season has progressed in Charlotte and what he's focusing on. [6:46] Garrett Crochet will be representing the Chicago White Sox at MLB's All-Star Game. [24:36] What's wrong with Michael Kopech and why he shouldn't be the White Sox closer anymore. [34:03] On a positive note, Lenyn Sosa has been on a roll. Will he continue getting enough runway to prove this hot streak is sustainable? [41:23] Luis Robert Jr. is also on a tear, and Josh pitches a trade partner in the Seattle Mariners. [48:58] Series Preview: Minnesota Twins. Can the White Sox actually win a game this series? When it comes to evaluating a farm system, few things offer a better glimpse of the external view than the trade deadline and nothing gives greater clarity on the internal view than when there's a need at the major-league level. Consider the Cardinals. St. Louis Post-Dispatch baseball writer Daniel Guerrero recently visited Memphis, Tennessee, to scout just that -- how actions at the big-league level relate to the production and development of top prospects at the higheset affiliate. Guerrero returned with stories for StlToday.com on Jordan Walker, Thomas Saggese, Victor Scott II, and several pitchers. And he joins the Best Podcast in Baseball and baseball writer Derrick Goold to discuss if there's advancement coming from Memphis or just idling talent in Memphis. An injury to Steven Matz at the beginning of May opened a spot in the Cardinals' rotation, and as they await the lefty's return they have at least twice had a chance to promote a prospect from within to make those starts. They did not. Actions always speak louder than rankings, and for the Cardinals their actions at the big-league level have suggested they feel it's more important for some of their prospects to continue developing in Class AAA Memphis than have their routine upset with a spot start, or, in some cases, that they're not ready to contribute to the majors even in a spot start. It's a telling decision from the team that also strikes at their situation in the outfield. The Cardinals are going to need contributions from the the organization in both the outfield and on the mound, and how they utilize their top affiliate is a chance to scrutinize the prospect pipeline and player development. The two baseball writers conclude the episode by making their picks to represent the Cardinals in the Futures Game. The Best Podcast in Baseball, sponsored by Closets by Design of St. Louis, is a production of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, StlToday.com, and Derrick Goold.
