Welcome back dear listeners! This week, we are joined by Stratik, who invites us to stare deeply into the world of melodic techno with their mix: Eye of the Beholder. (disintegration ray not included) Stratik, a lover of raves and electronic music; a DJ of 14 years, operates out of Billings, MT. They have dazzled stages at Tesseract, Resurgance, Polaris, and an endless list of house parties and clubs. Inspired by the mystical, spiritual, and psychedelic meaning of music, they've set their gaze on a melodic mix that includes artists such as Detuned, Tinlicker, Daniele Di Martino, VNTM, and more. But hey.. don't let me spoil it all, come see(hear) for yourself! A few words from the artist: "This is one of my favorite sounds I haven't had the opportunity to play live for people yet. I love to tell a story with my mixes, there should be highs and lows and surprises that sweep you off your feet, and that's what I try to achieve with every mix I record. I hope this music can teleport you somewhere else, if only for a little while. I love you and I love all humans and pray to see peace and prosperity on earth and unity in our life time.

Greg answers questions about beauty being “in the eye of the beholder,” what it looks like to follow the greatest commandment and how to teach it to students, and how to explain to a skeptic what we mean by “faith.”   Topics: How could biblical writers talk about certain women being beautiful if beauty is in the eye of the beholder? (03:00) What does following the greatest commandment—loving the Lord your God with all your heart—look like, what does it mean, and how should I teach it to students? (19:00) Can you help me explain to a skeptic what we mean by “faith”? (41:00) Related Links: You Don't Have to Choose between the Head and the Heart – Greg Koukl discusses living “coram Deo.” Faith Is Not Wishing by Greg Koukl Faith Isn't a Way of Knowing; It's a Way of Trusting by Tim Barnett

In this episode of Entrepreneurial Appetite, guest host and artist Porschia Danielle sits down with Maria Williams, the visionary founder of In the Eye of the Beholder Black Art Gallery and the Art of Four initiative. Maria shares how a single news segment sparked her mission to amplify the voices of Black artists in San Antonio—a city that lacked a dedicated Black art gallery. What began as a community-driven initiative to empower four artists evolved into a full-fledged gallery space committed to equity, impact, and legacy. Maria opens up about the challenges of sustaining an art business, the fluctuating nature of the art market, and why representation in galleries matters just as much as in museums.Listeners will gain insight into how art collecting, artist support, and community engagement form an ecosystem of cultural resilience—and how Maria is working to pass the baton to the next generation of Black cultural leaders.Support the showhttps://www.patreon.com/c/EA_BookClub

Dr. Beck shares how her clinical work as a nurse and nurse-midwife led her into research, how she “fell into” traumatic birth as a focus, and why listening to mothers' own words and metaphors changed everything.Together, they explore breastfeeding after birth trauma, the role of dignity and respect in preventing trauma, and the possibility of post-traumatic growth—not as a silver lining, but as a real, complex outcome of surviving something life-shattering.This episode is for survivors, clinicians, nurses, midwives, OBs, lactation consultants, and therapists who want to better understand the lived experience of birth trauma and the research that gave it language.Together, Kayleigh and Dr. Beck explore: ✨ How she found her way into researching postpartum depression and traumatic birth ✨ Why qualitative research (and metaphors!) can crack open truth in a way numbers never could ✨ The powerful two-path framework for breastfeeding after trauma ✨ What surprised her most after decades of listening to survivors ✨ Post-traumatic growth and the ways some parents rebuild after everything collapses ✨ How clinicians can prevent trauma by protecting dignity, autonomy, and humanityResources & Links

Pastor Taylor Shippy - 1 Samuel 16:1-13This morning, we explore the likely familiar story of David's anointing in 1 Samuel 16—and how even the prophet Samuel nearly chose the wrong king. God challenges Samuel to see as He does—looking for qualities beyond the physical. But what if God's challenge to Samuel is also our challenge? That God may be challenging us to see others the way He does—not by outward appearance alone, but with the eyes of grace, compassion, and discernment. This morning we're invited to adopt God's vision: to look beyond the surface, notice the overlooked, and love others with the eyes of Jesus.

We also try to look at the long term effects of the bill: how did it change how our government will work for the people going forward and what does it mean politically for the midterms and beyond?

Since last week we've been to Pride night, and Pottymouth has checked out the Smokies new ballpark, and crosstrained with Bananaball. Patti opted out on Bananaball because there are two kinds of people in the world. Although Cosmic Baseball could be a thing… The All Star Game is loaded with former boyfriends and just a few new ones, and the Derby could be all our guys. Congrats to Justin Verlander on what must be a very beautiful new baby, and thanks for the timing which let Brett Wisely back up to the bigs. More fans behaving badly, this time to Ketel Marte, and good work to the hometown fans for much-needed support. Police Blotter and more crosstraining as we report on horrible men in two sports. Franco gets away with abhorrent deeds and Tucker denies it all. More World Baseball Classic participants are announced and we are eyeing a trip to Puerto Rico. And thank you, Trea Turner, for not ticking off the baseball gods.We say, “I went and did the Banana thing,” “A light beer but way more of it so the math should work,” and “Whiskey with the Canadians in the basement.” Fight the man, send your game balls to Meredith, get boosted, and find us on Bluesky @ncibpodcast, on Facebook @nocryinginbball, Instagram @nocryinginbball and on the Interweb at nocryinginbball.com. This week, we're taking a look at the Twilight Zone episode “Eye of the Beholder.” Janet Tyler lives in a world behind a set of bandages, ones that cover not merely her face, but her thoughts. This is her final visit, the last chance for doctors to fix her deformed face. If they are successful, she will be able to take her place with the rest of normal society; however, if her visage is unchanged, she will need to be removed–one way or another. You see, in this Twilight Zone reality, people need to look a certain way and conform to that way, else they are not allowed to co-exist with the rest of society. Oh, the State does allow for undesirables to live; they just can't live with everyone else. They must be removed. By the end of the episode, it is clear that Rod Serling has something to say about how we so easily accept the State coming in to take control, and I have a bit to say about this as well. In this KOI episode, we'll talk about why Serling uses “The State” as concept; we'll dive into whether or not there is any hope for us to cling to at the end; and I'll reveal my moment of awe, a bit of a plea for the importance of discomfort. So, grab your keys, and let's open up this door to the fifth dimension. As always, spoiler alert. If you have note seen the episode, go check it out and then come back here for the analysis. We're walking through Rod Serling's class Twilight Zone series and asking difficult questions about life. So, if you love The Twilight Zone, science fiction, or even just philosophizing about life, consider joining us on this journey. There's always room for more. US President Trump's mega-donor Musk was strongly critical of the “big, beautiful bill” currently before Congress. The bill contains many things markets are worried about. Musk's opposition may embolden some Republican senators to oppose parts of the bill (Musk has more money than Trump, but their recent political forays have not been universally successful).
