Friends of the Rosary,Today, the Octave Day of Easter, is the Sunday of Divine Mercy. We rejoice in the mystery of Divine mercy, a gift to humanity that the world needs to accept and understand. From the Beginning, the Divinity revealed His nature as love itself. The love of the Risen Lord forgives, reconciles, and restores life. The origin of Divine Mercy Sunday is from a revelation from Our Lord to the Polish nun Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska.Following Jesus' request, Faustina Kowalska initiated the Divine Mercy devotion. On May 5, 2000, five days after the canonization of Saint Faustina, the Roman Catholic Church decreed that the Second Sunday of Easter would be known as Divine Mercy Sunday.Divine mercy is God's refusal to leave us in our fallen condition. Christ Jesus enters our hardened hearts, banishing fear and sin, and He says, “Peace be with you.”"I shall sing forever the Lord's mercy" (Ps 89 [88]).— Jesus to Sr. Faustina | Excerpts from the Diary of Faustina KowalskaOn one occasion, I heard these words: "My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of My most tender mercy. Every soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My love and mercy throughout eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness. It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy.""[Let] the greatest sinners place their trust in My mercy. They have the right before others to trust in the abyss of My mercy. My daughter, write about My mercy towards tormented souls. Souls that make an appeal to My mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask. I cannot punish even the greatest sinner if he makes an appeal to My compassion, but on the contrary, I justify him in My unfathomable and inscrutable mercy. Write: before I come as a just Judge, I first open wide the door of My mercy. He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice."From all My wounds, like from streams, mercy flows for souls, but the wound in My Heart is the fountain of unfathomable mercy. From this fountain spring all graces for souls. The flames of compassion burn Me. I desire greatly to pour them out upon souls. Speak to the whole world about My mercy." On Good Friday, 1937, Jesus requested that St. Faustina make a special Divine Mercy Novena to be recited from Good Friday through the following Saturday in preparation for the Feast of Mercy.Jesus also asked that a picture be painted according to the vision of Himself as the fountain of mercy. He gave her a Chaplet of Divine Mercy to be recited and said that it was appropriate to pray the chaplet at three o'clock each afternoon (the Hour of Great Mercy).Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Friends of the Rosary,God's plan for marriage points to a lifelong unity of a man and a woman. Marriage is a mystery, sacrament, and vocation for mutual love and fulfillment of the husband and wife, the procreation of children, and their education. Jesus explained this way, as we read today in the Gospel (St. Mark, 10:2-16) ”From the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and motherand be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together,no human being must separate." Divorce tries to break this life-long bond commitment and the law of the Creator, who determined what's best for the human race. Sadly, the deep religious meaning of marriage has been, in recent years, dramatically compromised. Marriage is about serving God's purposes; it's a sacred calling, as much as priesthood. Friends of the Rosary, Today, October 5, is the Memorial Day of the contemporary saint St. Faustina Kowalska, Virgin, the apostle of the Divine Mercy. Jesus appeared to Faustina as the King of Divine Mercy, choosing her to deliver the message of his merciful heart of love for all people, especially sinners. Our Lord asked her to have a picture painted of him as she saw him — clothed in white, with red and white rays of light streaming from his heart. The rays represent the blood and water that flowed from Jesus's side on the cross. Under the image are the words, "Jesus, I trust in you." Many people did not believe Faustina at first. The sisters in her convent thought that Jesus could not possibly have selected her for this great favor. After all, she was an uneducated peasant girl. Her superiors often refused to give her permission to carry out Jesus' requests. Church theologians, too, doubted her word. Jesus told Faustina that he loved her obedience and that his will would be done in the end. In 1934, an artist completed the painting of the Divine Mercy according to her instructions, and it soon became a focus for devotion. Faustina continued to record the appearances of Jesus in her diary under the title Divine Mercy in My Soul. St. Faustina came from Poland. Pope Saint John Paul II was also Polish and had a great devotion to the Divine Mercy. He made it a feast day on the second Sunday after Easter.
Friends of the Rosary, Accompanying Jesus and the Twelve Disciples were women like Mary Magdalene, Joanna, the wife of Herod's steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others. In this journey, these women provided for Jesus and the disciples out of their resources and were helping to proclaim the Kingdom of God, as we read today in the Gospel (Luke 8:1–3). Jesus, breaking the social conventions of that time, invited women to participate fully in the life of discipleship. Great women have followed Jesus over the centuries. Across history, we find role models like St. Monica, Clare of Assisi, Terese of Avila, Thérèse of Lisieux, Edith Stein, Mother Teresa of Kolkata, Faustina Kowalska, and many others. Friends of the Rosary: Most of the souls in hell are those who disbelieved that there is a place for the dammed. This is what St. Faustina Kowalska wrote in her diary after having a vision of hell. “I, Sister Faustina Kowalska, by the order of God, have visited the abysses of hell so that I might tell souls about it and testify to its existence.” In October 1936, she was led by an angel to what she called the “chasms of hell,” which she described in her diary as a place of “great torture.” ”Fire penetrates the soul without destroying it — a terrible suffering. “Despite that darkness, the devils and the souls of the damned see each other and all the evil, both of others and their own.” St. Faustina was shown different levels of hell. “There are caverns and pits of torture where one form of agony differs from another,” Faustina recorded in her diary. ”There are special tortures destined for particular souls. These are the torments of the senses. Each soul undergoes terrible and indescribable sufferings related to the manner in which it has sinned.” The vision of Faustina was meant to save souls, as the divine is giving us yet another chance to stop sinning and seek conversion before it's too late. In the matter of heaven, hell, and salvation there is not very much room for speculation. The Scriptures are clear in their teaching and furthermore, it has been the unanimous teaching of the church and the witness of saints and mystics that many are damned and few are saved. Friends of the Rosary: Yesterday's solemnity drew our attention to the mystery of the Trinity — God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The sublime truth of the Trinity is ageless. Its power to transform souls has illuminated the hearts and minds of saints over time. St. Teresa of Ávila wrote: “The three Persons are distinct from one another; a sublime knowledge is infused into the soul, imbuing it with a certainty of the truth that the Three are of one substance, power, and knowledge and are one God.” St. Catherine of Siena: “Eternal Trinity! You gave us not only your Word through the Redemption and in the Eucharist, but you also gave yourself in the fullness of love for your creature.” St. John Paul II: “A great mystery of love, an ineffable mystery, before which words must give way to the silence of wonder and worship. A divine mystery that challenges and involves us, because a share in the Trinitarian life was given to us through grace, through the redemptive Incarnation of the Word and the gift of the Holy Spirit.” St. Faustina Kowalska: “When One of the Three Persons communicates with a soul, by the power of that one will, it finds itself united with the Three Persons and is inundated in the happiness flowing from the Most Holy Trinity, the same happiness that nourishes the saints. This same happiness that streams from the Most Holy Trinity makes all creation happy; from it springs that life which vivifies and bestows all life which takes its beginning from him.” St. Francis de Sales (from a consecration prayer to the Trinity): “I vow and consecrate to God all that is in me: My memory and my actions to God the Father; My understanding and my words to God the Son; My will and my thoughts to God the Holy Spirit.” Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! + Mikel A. | RosaryNetwork.com, New York • June 5, 2023, Today's Rosary on YouTube | Daily broadcast at 7:30 pm ET
Friends of the Rosary: Today, on this Sunday of Divine Mercy solemnity, we meditate upon the mystery of God's merciful love. The Divine Mercy devotion to Jesus Christ emphasizes his infinite love and mercy toward sinners. In 1931, St. Faustina Kowalska had a vision of Jesus. He appeared before her as the “King of Divine Mercy”, wearing a white garment and with two rays of light shining from his heart. Jesus told Polish nun St. Faustina to paint an image of him as he appeared before her, with these words below: Jesus, I trust in you. Jesus then asked her to have the painting blessed on the first Sunday after Easter and to celebrate that day as the Feast of Mercy. He also asked St. Faustina to serve as an example of God's mercy for all of mankind. On May 5, 2000, five days after the canonization of Saint Faustina, the Vatican decreed that the Second Sunday of Easter would be known as Divine Mercy Sunday. In her Diary, St. Faustina, the mystic of the twenty century and apostle of the Divine Mercy, wrote what she heard from Jesus: “My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners.” “The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet.“ “My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness. It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy.” “Let the greatest sinners place their trust in My mercy. They have the right before others to trust in the abyss of My mercy.” “My daughter, write about My mercy towards tormented souls. He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice.” “From all My wounds, like from streams, mercy flows for souls, but the wound in My Heart is the fountain of unfathomable mercy. From this fountain spring all graces for souls. The flames of compassion burn Me. I desire greatly to pour them out upon souls. Speak to the whole world about My mercy.” Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! + Mikel A. | RosaryNetwork.com, New York • April 16, 2023, Today's Rosary on YouTube | Daily broadcast at 7:30 pm ET
Friends of the Rosary: No form of devotion is more widely practiced and recommended by popes than the Holy Rosary. Many saints encouraged us to pray the Rosary daily, as the Blessed Mother asked. Among them, Teresa of Avila, Francis de Sales, Louis de Montfort, Alphonsus Liguori, Don Bosco, Bernadette, Maximilian Kolbe, Faustina Kowalska, John Paul II, and Padre Pio. The authentic Rosary is a combination of vocal and mental prayer, each of which is essential to the devotion. As Pope Leo XIII said the Rosary "is composed of two parts, distinct but inseparable — the meditation on the mysteries and the recitation of the prayers. It is thus a kind of prayer that requires not only some raising of the soul to God but also particular and explicit attention." As Pope Pius XI stated, they err "who consider this devotion merely a boresome formula repeated with monotonous and singsong intonation" In the words of Pius XII, "the recitation of identical formulas, repeated so many times, rather than rendering the prayer sterile and boring, has, on the contrary, the admirable quality of infusing confidence in him who prays, and brings to bear a gentle compulsion on the motherly heart of Mary." Saint Faustino must be honored, and grateful, to share his name with so holy and consequential a nun as Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, who was canonized in 2000, and whose optional memorial was added to the Church's universal calendar in 2020.Saint Faustina was a peasant in the best sense of the word. She could read and write but otherwise attended school for only a few years in her rural village in central Poland. Her large and pious family needed her hand on the plow, financially speaking, and so at the age of sixteen young Helen Kowalska obtained work as a housekeeper in nearby towns. She was expert in the domestic arts of sewing, cleaning, cooking, and the related skills which convert a house into a home. These skills served her well, but not long, in the convents where she resided throughout her short life. While she felt called to be a religious sister as a child, Helen's parents were reluctant to let her enter a convent at too tender an age. But then, in her late teens, Christ appeared and spoke to Helen in mysterious and deeply personal encounters, demanding that she not keep Him waiting much longer. These visions propelled the pious teen to seek acceptance in a big-city convent. She moved to Warsaw at nineteen, received advice from a sympathetic priest, and knocked on the doors of various convents hoping that one of them, just one, would accept her. One finally did. After proving herself in its novitiate, she took solemn vows and spent the rest of her life as a faithful nun doing humble chores alongside her religious sisters in convents in Poland and present-day Lithuania.Like so many saints, the unseen vigils, prayers, mortifications, fasts, and sufferings were Faustina's real life, while the visible realities seen by her fellow religious and the occasional visitor were of lesser importance. And what went unseen in Saint Faustina's life was astounding! This humble nun experienced remarkably vivid, high-octane, technicolor, 3-D visions of Jesus Christ in the chapel, behind the door, in her cell, and around every corner for many years. Jesus' strong voice spoke to her in a direct and unmistakably clear manner about His desires for her life. He commanded her, repeatedly, to spread the message of Divine Mercy. So Faustina had an artist paint a famous image of Christ with two rays emanating from his chest, promoted a liturgical feast day in honor of the Divine Mercy on the Sunday after Easter, and kept an exhaustive diary chronicling the content of her vivid spiritual experiences.Saint Faustina's message is not really Saint Faustina's message. It is God's message. God wants mankind to know, and to feel, the Divine Mercy oozing out of the heart of Christ. This mercy, unlike human or judicial mercy, can wash away even the most wretched sins. God's mercy is not in competition with his justice but is an over abundance of justice. God knows all things and forgives all things when His mercy is freely requested. The modern western world is very focused on questions of justice – racial justice, economic justice, environmental justice, etc… But it is, at the same time, opposed to judging. This dichotomy of favoring justice but abhorring judging is incongruous. The modern west suffers from similar tensions regarding the virtue of mercy. An American Cardinal noted years ago that modern secular culture permits, even promotes, practically everything. It seems that no moral aberration, sin, or dysfunctional behavior is not smiled upon as a rightful expression of personal freedom. And yet…modern secular culture forgives almost nothing. “Just Do it!” But, beware, when you do do it, you might never be forgiven for having done it. The message of Divine Mercy is that because all can be forgiven, all relationships can be restored. Relationships precede our rights and even our choices. We are more than our choices! We are more than our rights! And when we receive mercy, or extend mercy to others, our relationships with ourselves, with friends, family, nature, and God are restored.Every expression or reception of mercy is like a mini jubilee-year. Every traveler returns home, every field lies fallow, and every debt is forgiven. Mercy is the father waiting on the ridge. He sees the ragged figure on the horizon limping home in the evening light. The petition for mercy. The granting of mercy. The tight embrace. The relationship restored. The ring on his finger. The robe on his back. The calf on the spit. The feast begins. Divine Mercy conquers all.Saint Faustina, your humble and generous service to the Church included sharing your visions and the message of Divine Mercy. Help all who seek your intercession to be blessed with your same virtue and your same docility to God's will.

Today we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday, reflecting on God's merciful love in our lives along the road of faith that is provided through the cross and resurrection of Christ. Throughout our journey, we each need mercy which comes in the form of forgiveness, grace, and patience. As we reflect upon scripture and how Thomas doubted, yet he was invited back into the fold with Jesus showing up in his life, may we too understand that we are never void of God's merciful love. During this episode I give a brief history of Divine Mercy Sunday and Jesus' powerful encounter with St. Faustina Kowalska. We also share in the countless examples throughout the Gospels where Christ's mercy heals others, he reaches out to those on the margins, and pours out his endless love. Jesus sees the beauty in the soul of each person he encounters and he is calling each of us to holiness so we might become more like him. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/dan-jason-ef3/message

--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jlio4/message

Even in the face of terrible tragedy like suicide, Catholic doctrine is clear that there is always hope. This is particularly the message of Divine Mercy taught by St. Faustina Kowalska (originator of the Divine Mercy Chaplet). Unfortunately, too many Catholics don't truly understand what the Catholic Church has to say in these matters. It's important not only for those who may have died, but for the sake of those left behind. Join Matthew Leonard and Fr. Chris Alar of the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception, for an honest and powerful look at hope and Divine Mercy in action.

These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full." -John 15:10-11 Prayer: Lord Jesus, You have created for me a life full of triumph and tribulation. Help me to learn from each and every experience, for all things happen for a reason, and all things happen according to Your almighty plan. In all humbleness, please bless me with a state of happiness; accepting with a smile all that you send into my life. For I know that my happiness pleases you, O Lord, and brings me closer to the joys of heaven. I ask this in the name of Jesus, whose love reigns forever. Amen. Meditation: Act in such a way that all those who come in contact with you will go away joyful...Go through life like a little child, always trusting, always full of simplicity and humility, content with everything, happy in every circumstance. There, where others fear, you will pass calmly along, thanks to this simplicity and humility. -St. Faustina Kowalska
