Sexier Than A Squirrel: Dog Training That Gets Real Life Results
Fireworks are an oddity for dogs (and most animals). They're loud, they're booming, they light up the sky spontaneously and a lot of dogs are caught off guard by the noise and vibrations. If your dog is frightened by loud noises such as fireworks, don't panic! The good news is you know they are coming, so now is the time to prepare for them.So just how can you help your dog through a night of fireworks? Here are our top tips!Download the Taking the Fear Out of Fireworks eBook! It's FREE!absolutedogs.me/fireworks Control the controllable! You'll be able to guide and help your dog through the fireworks season far more effectively by focusing on setting them up for success, rather than getting stressed, depressed or angry about the presence of fireworks in the world.Guard your dog's optimism!Fireworks and loud noises are downright terrifying for ANY dog, even if they seem to be okay around loud noises right now. One negative experience is all they need for "okay" to become "worried", "scared" or "totally terrified" so it's important to not only grow your dog's optimism and confidence through games, but it's equally as important to fiercely guard their optimism by setting them up for success whenever fireworks or loud noises might be near. Some of our optimism-guarding tips are:Don't take your dog for walks on evenings when you know fireworks might be around – go earlier in the day or simply play games at home instead!Give your dog a safe space like a covered crate or a dog-safe darkened room with closed curtains!Play loud music, white noise, radio or TV (some people even say drumming music is great to mask fireworks) – and ensure you also do this BEFORE the fireworks start to mask those loud noises and prevent your dog from hearing them as much as possible! It also helps to do lots of dry runs throughout the year and play your loud music randomly all year round to ditch that routine and stop your dog from predicting your "fireworks routine" and becoming worried anyway!Don't give your dog access to doors or windows while fireworks are happening! We've got SO MANY more tips for you in this epic episode so make sure you check it out – these are tips to make YOUR life and YOUR DOG'S life so much easier and more comfortable when it comes to Fireworks Season (and any other noisy, worrying times throughout the year)!Dive in and take a listen - and while you're here, leave a review for us and share with us what was your biggest takeaway!Support the show

“Why shouldn't we have fun at work if we can? Why can't we enjoy the people that we're working with?Matt May of Premier Team Building & Interactive Experiences joins me on today's episode of Master Delegator to discuss why you should take the fear out of team building, why team building is not a bad word, what positive team-building experiences entail and when & how to host a productive team-building experience that benefits everyone on a team. How To Get Your Team Into Team BuildingAs a business owner and leader, getting everyone on board with team building can be difficult because of the differences among team members, so Matt, a sought-after speaker, published a guidebook, Take the Fear Out of Team Building, to share his solutions based on surveys, common opinions, and misconceptions of what team building is.What happens there will determine whether an extrovert or introvert will enjoy it or not. Matt believes in the nature of man, which is the desire to win, and therefore he makes fun and collaborative interactions for individuals to express their competitive sides while also allowing them to enjoy their time with the people they work with.Allowing people to have fun through team building can help boost their morale and motivation as team members at work, resulting in a more productive environment. As an expert, Matt also advised hiring experts in team building; those who know what they're doing and with whom you can connect in order to achieve the desired results and figure out what works best for you and your team's comfort level.Positive Impact Of Team Building Look at team building as a very important investment in your business that will make sure that you and your team are happy and working together. People who are happy are pleasant to be around with and when everyone is in a happy disposition, it also increases their productivity.About Matt MayMatt May, Founder and CEO of Premier Team Building & Interactive Experiences. Minute 59 - Pooping the Fear Out
My guest today is Kate Colbert, the Founder & President of Silver Tree Communications and Silver Tree Publishing and the author of the newly released book Think Like a Marketer: How a Shift in Mindset Can Change Everything for Your Business. Kate provides great marketing advice for people in any kind of business, and she tailored this conversation for the financial professional. Now, this isn’t about converting accounting and finance professionals into marketers – It's about helping people like accountants make better decisions about their accounting practice by thinking like a marketer. In Think Like a Marketer, Kate discusses the five principles that will help you make this mindset shift and change everything for your business: Communicate for connection and meaning, not just to transact sales. (For a little bonus reading on this subject, check out this article in the Journal of Accountancy: “Networking Tips for Quiet People: A Little Preparation Can Take the Fear Out of Networking”)You live and die by your customers' insights. You may think accounting professionals are a group of subject matter experts who are all about the data and numbers, right? But thinking like a marketer requires looking at numbers that most professionals just aren't. For example, when is the last time you did a client satisfaction survey?Market yourself in a way that's strategy religious and tactic agnostic. This is not about where you go to church – If that you have a marketing strategy that you’re confident in, you need to be sticking religiously to that strategy. But in terms of the tactics you apply and the activities you do in marketing, you need to be really open-minded and agnostic.Create cultures and processes that align with your brand. What are you willing to do differently in your day-to-day processes, up to and including the way the building is laid out, in order to really deliver on the story that you’re telling to the marketplace about what makes you a better accounting firm than the accounting firm down the street?Do everything in service of maintaining a virtuous cycle of creating value for the customer while capturing value for you. I am confident if you execute to these five principles, you'll begin to see signs that your marketing is resonating with your audience and having an impact. “It doesn't matter where you are in your journey. Whether we're talking about a book that you just wrote, or if we're talking about a business that you founded, or a business that you work in, the perfect time to start thinking like a marketer is now.” Resources: Learn more at thinklikeamarketerthebook.comJoin the Think Like a Marketer Community: facebook.com/groups/1757442721002369Connect with Kate on LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/katecolbertThink Like a Marketer: How a Shift in Mindset Can Change Everything for Your Business -- Change Your Mindset is produced by Podcast Masters Learn more about your ad choices.
