Our journey begins at the First Church of Christ, Scientist, where the forlorn spirit of "The Lady of The Stairs" continues her endless vigil, mourning a love lost to the flu pandemic. Her tragic story is just the tip of the iceberg, as we explore seven of Louisville's most haunted locales, including the Seelbach Hilton Hotel, home to the sorrowful "Lady in Blue." Each story weaves a thread of the city's haunted heritage, inviting listeners to peer into the past where the lines between the living and the dead blur. From the historic decks of The Belle of Louisville, haunted by its former captain and a fateful deckhand, to the whispering winds of Cave Hill Cemetery, we delve into the supernatural phenomena that locals and visitors alike have encountered. The Louisville Palace Theatre, with its myriad of spectral inhabitants, and the mysterious occurrences at Phoenix Hill Tavern, add layers to Louisville's ghostly reputation. Our episode concludes with the chilling tale of Annie Whipple, whose spectral presence in Old Louisville's Inn at the Park serves as a haunting reminder of the city's dark and mystifying legacy. debt ceiling talks end after briefly resuming, McCarthy's top negotiator says The debt limit negotiations between GOP negotiators and the White House ended Friday night with no progress after meeting for roughly an hour and a half. And there are no set plans for the next meeting, according to negotiators, who just left the Capitol. "At the direction of the Speaker of the House, we re-engaged, had a very, very candid discussion, talking about where we are, talking about where things need to be, what's reasonable and acceptable," Rep. Garret Graves of Louisiana said. Graves said "It's indefinite right now" when asked if talks plan to resume Friday tonight or Saturday. Russia may lack reserves to respond to Ukrainian counteroffensive: Officials Western officials said Russia's forces in Ukraine are so badly depleted that Russia may lack the reserves to effectively respond to a major counteroffensive from Ukrainian troops in the coming weeks. One official said Russia does not appear to have a dedicated reserve force to react to a major breakthrough from Ukraine. The assessment, given by Western officials speaking on condition of anonymity to reporters, suggested they back Ukraine's capacity to attempt an ambitious offensive soon and that the weakened state of Russian forces is increasingly favorable for it, although there was no certainty it would succeed. While the officials could not say when the counteroffensive would begin, they said the forces Ukraine has gathered and equipped with Western help are now at an "increasingly high level of readiness." Jim Brown, one of the NFL's all-time great running backs, has died at age 87 Jim Brown, a blazingly fast running back and a star of the Cleveland Browns in the 1950s and 60s, has died. The Hall of Famer was 87. His wife, Monique Brown, announced on Instagram that he "passed peacefully last night at our LA home." "To the world he was an an activist, actor, and football star. To our family, he was a loving and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Our hearts are broken." NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell called Brown a gifted athlete athlete and "one of the most dominant players to ever step on any athletic field." In a statement, he also singled out his involvement in the civil rights movement who became a forerunner and role model for athletes to become involved in social initiatives outside their sport. In his nine seasons playing for the Cleveland Browns, Brown established himself as one of the sport's all-time greats. But football merely was the start of a life filled with accomplishment....and controversy. New Mexico gunman died in hail of police gunfire, likely his grim and final wish, chief says A teenage gunman who killed three elderly women in New Mexico likely got his grim, final wish: to die at the hands of police, officials said. On Monday, at about 11 a.m. MT, 18-year-old Beau Wilson stepped out of his home and opened fire on neighboring houses and passing cars, police said. He was supposed to graduate from Farmington High School the next day. The rampage only ended when responding officers fatally shot Wilson in front of First Church of Christ, Scientist, at 713 N. Dustin Ave. Before officers cut him down, Wilson ditched his AR-15, one pistol, and a bulletproof vest, officials said. A doorbell camera also caught Wilson screaming "Come and kill me" during the barrage, police said. Nancy E. Head attends the non-denominational First Church of Christ. Nancy is a lifelong resident of Blair County in central Pennsylvania, dwelling for most of her years in Altoona―with a brief interval in Logan Township. She is a graduate of Penn State and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She teaches Advanced Placement English at Great Commission Schools and composition classes at Penn State Altoona. Nancy is a United States Armed Forces Mother and a member of the Blair County Republican Committee and Toastmasters. Nancy worked in both radio and print journalism before becoming a high school and college-level teacher. She blogs about Church and social issues twice weekly, and CBN.com has published several of her devotionals. Her experiences as a single mother raising five young children showed her how poverty alleviation is an issue for the church and an issue requiring a Church in accord. Written in an easy-to-understand, conversational style, Restoring the Shattered is an account of Nancy E. Head's journey through single-motherhood and poverty. The permanent divide between her and her husband led to a shattering of their family as the children settled into separate camps. The story begins when Nancy and her children have little to eat. Through a miraculous intervention, God provides—and leads them along their way. Other interventions and more guidance came from people of different denominations, illustrating Christ's love through the larger Church. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H2QDPRM/

Pastor Todd unpacks Paul's teaching in Ephesians 4 by exploring the five-fold ministry (apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers) and looking at how this five fold ministry existed in perfect unity in Jesus. Jesus was the perfect embodiment of all five and Jesus has imparted Himself to His Church. First Church of Christ has been a church for 100 years. Many people have served Jesus along the way to get us to today. But the question for us all who are here right now is this: what will people say about us 20, 50, 100 years from now? The key to making the impact God is calling us to make is this: to see that we are sent.
