One of the more interesting stories behind a cigar release at the 2025 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Showcame from Black Star Line Cigars. The cigar is called Meadowood, MLK, and it's a cigar that pays homage to Martin Luther King. Meadowood was a tobacco farm located in Simsbury, Connecticut, owned by the Cullman Brothers. Before attending college, King worked at this farm, where he found inspiration to become a pastor by delivering small sermons to his fellow employees. This is a story that many people are unfamiliar with, but Black Star Line Cigars' Meadowood keeps this history alive. Full PCA Report: https://wp.me/p6h1n1-wLV

It’s been five years since the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic. What began as a mysterious “flu-like” illness spread rapidly, killing over one million people in the United States and over seven million worldwide. That’s according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data. And while half a decade has passed, many frontline workers remember the months of fear and uncertainty as though it was yesterday. This hour, hospital workers and a grocery store worker reflect on how the pandemic forever changed their jobs, what lessons they continue to carry forward today, and how they resist “collective forgetting” when it feels like the world has moved on. Heidi shares how she and Curtis met as teenagers in Vermont and maintained their relationship through college before Curtis began exhibiting symptoms of ALS. When he was diagnosed, Heidi left her job to care for Curtis full-time. She moved with him to his small hometown to be closer to his support system and cared for him over the next year as his condition deteriorated. Heidi and Curtis married 22 days before his passing to declare their commitment to one another. After Curtis' death, Heidi found new love and purpose, going on to write a book about her caregiving journey of living with and preparing for the death of her partner from ALS. She married again and became a mother of four children. Heidi also now cares for her own mother, who has Parkinson's disease. Throughout the episode, Heidi emphasized the importance of self-care for caregivers and making future plans for support systems. She shares lessons learned from her extensive personal experience of caring for a terminally ill partner through the challenges of ALS. About Heidi: Born in Hartford, CT, Heidi Erdmann Vance McCann graduated from the Loomis Chaffee School, where she discovered the power of words. It's Monday, June 10th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus $130,000 for funeral expenses for martyred missionary couple in Haiti More than $130,000 has been raised online for the funeral and related expenses of husband and wife missionaries who were murdered in Haiti, reports MyChristianDaily.com. Davy and Natalie Lloyd, who served with Missions in Haiti, were killed in a gang attack, as violence has engulfed the nation. One GoFundMe campaign has raised close to $57,000, while a second fundraising effort has raised over $76,000. However, while the generosity of Christians has been exemplary, MissouriNet reports that online scammers are taking advantage of people wanting to help the families. Missouri State Rep. Ben Baker, who is the father of Natalie, explained that con artists have been creating fake fundraising pages to try and steal donations meant to help bring his daughter's body and her husband's body back to the U.S. Israeli Defense Forces rescue four hostages from Gaza Four Israeli hostages were rescued 245 days into their captivity, reports The Jerusalem Post. Working with other law enforcement officials, the Israeli Defense Forces, rescued them from two separate nearby locations in central Gaza in a high-risk joint operation. They include Noa Argamani, age 25, Almog Meir, age 21, Andrey Kozlov, age 27, and Shlomi Ziv, age 40, all of whom were kidnapped by Hamas and brought to the Gaza Strip from the 'Nova' party. This is the third such successful operation to rescue hostages since the war started on October 7th. An uncertain number of Palestinian terrorists and civilians were killed during the operation. The Israeli Defense Forces implied that dozens of terrorists were killed, but left open the possibility that potentially some dozens of Palestinian civilians might have also been killed. Interestingly, the U.S. provided intelligence on the hostages before Israel's successful rescue operation. Biden's DOJ indicts doctor who exposed transgender child mutilation at TX hospital Here in America, Biden's so-called “Department of Justice” is at it again. This time it indicted a small-town surgeon who revealed that ghastly transgender surgeries were being secretly committed on minors at Texas Children's Hospital after the hospital had purportedly discontinued its transgender program, reports LifeSiteNews.com.    Dr. Eithan Haim identified himself earlier this year as the anonymous whistleblower who provided evidence of the ongoing so-called “sex-change procedures” for children as young as 11 to Manhattan Institute journalist Christopher Rufo last year. Dr. Haim said that U.S. marshals showed up at his home earlier this week, summoning him to court to face four felony counts of alleged HIPAA violations.    Haim, a 33-year-old general surgeon, has always maintained that no medical privacy laws were broken when he provided evidence of Texas Children's Hospital's continued transgender program to Rufo. He told the Daily Wire, “It's my responsibility as a doctor, as a physician, to expose this to the public. If I don't, then this abuse can continue. I knew that future generations, like my children, would never be able to forgive me if they knew I had the chance to do something and I decided to stay silent. It requires average, everyday doctors to stand up and speak out against things like this.” Luke 12:2-3 says, "God has determined that the secrets will be uncovered, the truth will come forth, and God's thought about every behavior and action will be vindicated." Voddie Baucham: Pervasive sexual sin sign of God's judgment Pastor Voddie Baucham warned that the pervasive sexual sins of the prevailing culture are signs of divine judgment, but that the Gospel still offers hope and that American Christians should plead with God for revival while preparing for persecution. Baucham, who is on leave in the U.S. from his position as Dean of Theology at African Christian University in Lusaka, Zambia, preached from Romans 1 during an event last Saturday at Lamar Baptist Church outside Dallas. He cited some of the points he made in his new book entitled It's Not Like Being Black: How Sexual Activists Hijacked the Civil Rights Movement. Baucham noted the irony that he was making his remarks on the first day of pride month, which he referred to as "pride goes before destruction month." He noted that the Apostle Paul ultimately spends much of the first chapter of Romans explaining how the wrath of God manifests in the world by giving mankind over to sexual depravity and "a debased mind.” Romans 1:18-19, 26 says, “The wrath of God is being revealed from Heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. … Therefore, God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.” Baucham said, "We are living in a time, in an era when there are people who are desperately wicked, and in desperate need of repentance and faith, in desperate need of the Gospel.” In describing the evil culture in Romans 1, he said that the destruction starts with a denial of God and His authority, as well as a desire to suppress the truth, which he noted has long been readily apparent in modern culture. Baucham said that the consequence of such a worldview, first leads to general sexual immorality, which he explained first manifested in the Sexual Revolution and in the separation of sex from marital commitment and family. He also said contraceptives, abortion and the crisis of fatherlessness are connected to such an attitude. Baucham then explained that "dishonorable passions" are the next stage of divine judgment against a wicked culture, and suggested that the scale at which modern society is subject to them is historically unprecedented. … “Whenever we're pursuing one of God's good gifts outside of the boundaries wherein God gives that gift, it never brings us the satisfaction that we crave. And on top of that, it always brings us guilt and shame." Correction on Dwight D. Eisenhower's title In Friday's newscast, I incorrectly claimed that Dwight D. Eisenhower was a Major General on D-Day. Actually, his title on June 6, 1944 was Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force. My apologies. 24 Worldview listeners gave $7,268 And finally, toward our goal of raising $28,550 by this weekend to help keep the newscast on the air, 24 Worldview listeners stepped up to the plate.  That's the most response we have had since Monday, June 7th. Our thanks to Daniel in Mexico City, Mexico who gave $5, Nathan in Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia who gave $25, Gjon and Lynne in Bridgewater, Massachusetts who gave $33, as well as Jeremy in Grants Pass, Oregon, Jeffrey in Forest Hill, Maryland, and Patricia in Portland, Oregon – each of whom gave $50. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.The correct pronunciation of the tower is debated. In this podcast episode, host Gary introduces Jamie Sternberg, a high-profile trademark attorney in Connecticut who is active on LinkedIn. They discuss Jamie's career path and her work in trademark law, including her decision to pursue law school after Metallica sued Napster for copyright infringement. Jamie shares her experience working in various law firms and emphasizes the importance of mentorship and building a professional network outside of the firm. One of the key topics Jamie and I discussed was the importance of mentorship and building a network for young attorneys. Jamie suggests finding a mentor within the same firm or a colleague who is a few years older to provide guidance and support. The value of having someone to talk to outside of the firm is immeasurable, providing a safe space to discuss challenges and seek advice. Jamie also emphasized the importance of building a network outside of the firm. This can lead to business opportunities and make job transitions easier. She shared her journey of building her network through her trade assoociation and attending conferences. She also highlighted the significance of having a personal brand as a lawyer. Clients often choose an attorney based on their personal relationship and reputation. Jamie advises younger attorneys to start building their brand early by being active on platforms like LinkedIn and getting involved in industry associations. Jamie provided valuable advice for lawyers looking to progress in their careers. She emphasized the importance of analyzing goals, taking action, and not procrastinating on steps that can lead to desired goals. Jamie Sternberg is based in Simsbury, Connecticut and is a Partner with the law firm Saunders & Silverstein LLP. She has passionately practiced in the field of trademark and copyright law for 18 years. Jamie has significant experience with strategic trademark and copyright protection, enforcement, defense, transactions, and litigation for businesses all over the United States and the world. On a daily basis you will find Jamie managing worldwide trademark, copyright, and domain name portfolios, providing strategic intellectual property (IP) advice, enforcing and defending client's IP rights, settling infringement disputes, negotiating IP agreements, or litigating before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and in court. Over the course of her career, Jamie has registered hundreds of trademarks with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, taken down thousands of infringing domain names, websites, and mobile apps, and resolved a high percentage of infringement disputes in her client's favor without resorting to litigation.   Clients regularly praise Jamie's accessibility and her ability to creatively solve problems. Jamie has been recognized as a top trademark attorney by World Trademark Review WTR 1000 (2022, 2023) and by the Super Lawyers organization for her IP practice in Connecticut (2022). Jamie has been an International Trademark Association (INTA) committee member since 2014 and currently serves on the Internet Committee. She is a co-author of the 2022 book Women in Law: Discovering the True Meaning of Success, and regularly speaks and writes on trademark and copyright issues.   You can connect with Jamie at jsternberg@sandsip.com, www.sandsip.com, and https://www.linkedin.com/in/jamieplatkinsternberg/.

It's Friday, July 7th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus.  (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Children in Niger, Africa brutalized by Muslim jihadists Children bear the brunt of the devastating impact of Muslim Jihadism in Niger, Africa. They face the dual horrors of being targeted and killed, as well as being recruited and displaced from their homes, reports International Christian Concern. Matt Wells, Amnesty International's Crisis Response Deputy Director, said, “In Niger's Tillabéri region, an entire generation is growing up surrounded by death and destruction. Armed groups have repeatedly attacked schools and food reserves and are targeting children for recruitment.” Radicalized Islamic groups are plaguing the Sahel region in Africa, a land mass 620 miles wide and 3,360 miles long which runs from the Atlantic Ocean on the West Coast to the Red Sea on the East Coast. Muslims are attempting to establish a caliphate in the region and frequently target Christians in their attacks.  Please pray for the salvation of those who persecute the church that they would repent of their sin and trust Christ as their Savior.  And pray that God would comfort and strengthen the children who are targeted. Psalm 37:27-29 says, “Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever. For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake His faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed; the offspring of the wicked will perish. The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever." Cocaine found at the White House Cocaine was discovered on Sunday night in the West Wing of the White House. Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed the controversy on Wednesday. JEAN-PIERRE: “Where this was discovered is a heavily traveled area where many White House, West Wing, I should be even more specific, of West Wing visitors come through this particular area. The Secret Service is investigating this.” Donald Trump asked, "Does anybody really believe that the COCAINE found in the West Wing of the White House, very close to the Oval Office, is for the use of anyone other than Hunter & Joe Biden?" The Washington Examiner reported, “It has been widely speculated that the president's son Hunter Biden, who has had a history of cocaine addiction, may have been involved. He was seen on Friday headed to Camp David with his father for the second weekend in a row and celebrated the Fourth of July on Tuesday with his family at the White House.” DeSantis raised $150 million in first quarter On Thursday, Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis' campaign for president announced strong fundraising results. He raised $20 million in his first six weeks, reports The Epoch Times.  That trumps Donald Trump's total of $18.3 million raised during the same time period. In addition, DeSantis' independent Super PAC, Never Back Down, raised $130 million since launching in early March. Arizona Attorney General refuses to enforce pro-life laws Arizona Democrat Attorney General Kris Mayes declared Monday that she will not enforce pro-life laws in the Grand Canyon state. She has been empowered to ignore abortion measures she disagrees with by left-wing Democrat Governor Katie Hobbs, reports LifeSiteNews. During an interview with Capitol Media Services, Mayes said that she is taking all prosecutorial power over abortion-related cases away from Arizona's 15 county attorneys and reserving it for herself, under the authority given her by an executive order Hobbs signed last week, which in turn cites a state law granting the state attorney general “supervisory powers” over county attorneys. That statute does not explicitly allow for prosecutors to be barred from acting on entire categories of offenses, but Hobbs and Mayes have interpreted it as doing just that. No one should be surprised by Democrat Attorney General Kris Mayes' refusal to enforce pro-life laws.  After all, her candidacy was endorsed by both Planned Parenthood of Arizona and National Abortion Rights Action League. Arizona's top law enforcement official is blatantly ignoring the wise counsel of Proverbs 31:8. “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.” College student gets an “F” for citing “biological women” University of Cincinnati Professor Melanie Nipper gave her student, Olivia Krolczyk, a big fat “F” because she dared to use the term “biological women” in her class assignment about trans athletes, reports The Cincinnati Enquirer.   The student went on TikTok to complain. KROLCZYK: “I got a zero on a project proposal in my class because I used the term ‘biological women' which apparently is not allowed anymore. She even said it was a good project proposal, but I got a zero because I used this term that's exclusionary and not allowed anymore.” The teacher was rightly reprimanded by the University of Cincinnati administration. Unfortunately, after getting woke pushback, the college foolishly rescinded the reprimand, claiming it was "issued in error." Margaret Hanson, the College of Arts and Sciences interim dean, said the reprimand was removed from Professor Nipper's file, according to an email sent to Nipper on June 29th. Worldview listeners from Georgia, Oregon, and California weigh in Worldview listeners continue to share what they like about the newscast. Max Wood in Macon, Georgia wrote, “I eagerly look forward to the daily inspiration your program provides its listeners.  Each show reminds me of two important principles of Christianity that a pastor once gave me. First, there will be struggles. Second, the final victory is in Christ.” Jeff V.  in Beaverton, Oregon wrote, “I like how biblical responses are included with news stories.  But most of all, I like how homosexuality is described for what it is, terms like ‘faux homosexual wedding' or ‘sexually perverted lifestyles.'  This portrayal surely is considered hate speech by some, but true nonetheless.  Reading these accounts is like a breath of fresh air.” And Carrie Lee in San Jose, California wrote, “After hearing my first episode of The Worldview about a year ago, I knew I had to make it a part of my daily routine.  Much of the news presented here I don't hear anywhere else.  I share some of what I hear with my young son who was shocked to hear about Christian persecution in the world.  I also appreciate the compact length which makes it easy to slip into my day right after devotionals.  Thank you for your important work.” In addition to what you appreciate about this unique newscast, please tell me when and where you listen to The Worldview.  While you're at the breakfast table, driving in the car, or doing chores?  Email me at Adam@TheWorldview.com and include your full name, city and state, or country if outside America. 17 Worldview listeners gave $2,675 Toward our immediate goal of $20,000 by 12 midnight tonight to provide the resources to keep the newscast going another year, 17 Worldview listeners stepped up to the plate.  That's a record so far this week. Tips from Trestle: The Senior Living Food & Hospitality Podcast

"That place is TOXIC - don't work there!" If you've been around the hospitality industry, you've heard this before. But the best kitchens with the best culture will be the ones that do culture the right way. That's what I talk with Andrew Moret about on this week's TFT podcast. Andrew has worked in those toxic kitchens, and has seen what it can do to team morale and performance. He has also seen it done right, and has taken his experience to elevate the employee experience for his teams at Oakmont Senior Living. We get into the lessons learned, how to translate that into the right culture, and how instilling and making your leadership team responsible for that not only makes for happy employees, but also has a direct impact on diner satisfaction and the bottom line. Andrew Moret is Vice President of Culinary Services for Oakmont Management Group, the fastest growing premier senior living provider on the west coast. He leads the culinary teams at over 60 communities throughout California and Nevada to provide seasonally curated meals while accommodating individual dietary preferences and needs. By cultivating strong leadership among his team, Andrew elevates the senior living dining experience and advocates for residents to ensure that being a senior is an enjoyable lifestyle and not a diagnosis. Andrew is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and has over 15 years of leadership experience in all aspects of fine dining and food operations. As Executive Chef, he opened The Trumpet Vine in Simsbury, CT, and he developed a “Food Medicine” program at St. Helena Hospital in St. Helena, CA. Before bringing his knowledge and skills to senior living, He worked in two Michelin starred restaurants in the Napa Valley and as a private chef in the San Francisco Bay area. Extensive training beyond the CIA included the Sichuan Culinary Institute in China and the award-winning 2941 in Washington, D.C. By cultivating strong leadership amongst his team Moret strives to continue to elevate the senior living dining experience and be a driving force in the industry. Tips From Trestle is a podcast focused on discussion about senior living food & hospitality. Carly Kyd is the creator and owner of Queenie's Cocktail Bar, a mobile cocktail bar based out of Simsbury, Connecticut. In our delightful and light-hearted conversation, we learned about Queenie's origin story, the hilarity of trial-testing drinks (the words 'pond sludge' and 'frog spawn' may have been uttered), and why Carly's husband and fellow bartender often gets sidetracked by guests towards the end of the night. Carly was also straightforward about the challenges of starting an alcohol-based business in Connecticut AND about how it felt to have her first full year in business be 2020! We learned that gin isn't nearly as popular here as it is in England (and possibly spent way too much time delving into the hows and whys of this mystery), and she taught us a new tip for how to successfully pee in a wedding dress.Carly was a delight to chat with, and learning about her bespoke creations and how they bring life to any party made Regina and Cate want to sit outside, gins in hand, and listen to Carly's lovely British accent some more. Where to find her: www.queeniescocktailbar.comEmail: carly@queeniescocktailbar.comSocial media: @queeniescocktailbar on Instagram, @barqueenie on Twitter *Recorded February 1, 2021*Find the hosts on social:Podcast: @weddoweddingpodcastRegina: @weddingsbyreginamarieCate: @catebarryphotographywww.WeDoWeddingPodcast.comwww.WeddingsbyReginaMarie.comwww.CateBarryPhotography.comIntro/Outro MusicInstant by Nettson https://soundcloud.com/nettsonCreative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3.0Free Download / Stream: http://bit.ly/al-instantMusic promoted by Audio Library https://youtu.be/3MPl9jeVOR8––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

This is what I'm here to do. Being spiritual, giving readings is the easiest thing I've ever done. And that's how I know it's right. Everything else has been hard. -Kim Gedney Most psychics will tell you that they always had a 6th sense. They just “knew” things. But that was not always the case for Kim Gedney. The daughter of a drug addict, she had no time to think about anything else but survival and at one point, decided she wanted to end her life. That's when her phone began to ring and ring and ring. When Kim finally answered the phone, the person on the other end changed her life forever with his message and that is where this story begins. Now a wife and devoted mother of two sons, Kim is a medium, a psychic, a healer and a spiritual and intuitive life coach. Her ability to tap into exactly what her clients need is what sets this exceptional woman apart. We settled into our interview at a little bed & breakfast in Simsbury, CT called the 1820 House for an interview that focused on a three things Kim believes to her core: 1. Your gut is never wrong. 2. Your mind can mess you up every time. 3. Faith is the belief that there is something more. Curious? Hit that download button for some earthly and spiritual wisdom to kick off 2021. #psychic #medium #spirit #believe
