We are back with the final episode of our Angus season! Join the girls as they discuss Kate Middleton Conspiracies (admittedly, in poor taste, considering what came to light shortly after this recording), Armie Hammer's Arm and Hammer Fortune, and the final two chapters of Louise Rennison's innaugural novel. Will Georgia redeem herself? Will the Sex God ever love her? What book are the Chicks doing next season? Be sure to tune in and find out!
What in the hell are we still doing here? Georgia is stalking Lindsay, Herr Kemeyer is keeping his balls still, and things are just haywire with Angus. We discuss Dune, which Aubree has never seen, and we lose it over tea towels. Karyn would hang with Kylie Jenner over T-Swift. Turn on, tune in, and drop out!
We are finally back with the penultimate episode of this season! In this episode the chicks cover June through July of Georgia's year, as well as all the crazy shit that happened at Woodstock '99, Karyn's new hobbies, and Aubree's sweet new puppy!
Happy Weekend! The gals are back from the past (took us a little longer to release this episode than we planned) to discuss Georgia's February, Elon's November, Karyn's adventures, and much much more! Tune in as we get back on track with Georgia's dumb teenage ass, and ponder what in the world the rural NC costume designers were thinking when Aubree's dad played Leonardo Da Vinci.
The Girls discuss Jada's insane behavior, Britney's new book, life after grief, Karyn's first burlesque show and virgin Rocky Horror experience, and of course, January (aka "Exploding Knickers")!
Actress Tanya Reynolds talks about why being an introvert is a superpower, her final Sex Education scenes and when books come into your life and act like medicine. Tanya is perhaps known best for her scene-stealing role as Lily Iglehart in the Emmy award-winning Netflix show Sex Education, but has been gracing our screens with roles in Outlander, Death in Paradise and more recently 2020's film adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma, alongside Anya Taylor-Joy and Bill Nighy. Tanya was named as one of Screen International's Stars of Tomorrow in 2020, and has recently been treading the boards at London's Almeida Theatre in critically acclaimed play A Mirror. Tanya's book choices are: ** Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison ** Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë ** My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferante ** Quiet by Susan Cain ** Everyone in this room will someday be dead by Emily Austen Vick Hope, multi-award winning TV and BBC Radio 1 presenter, author and journalist, is the host of season six of the Women's Prize for Fiction Podcast. Aubree went on a cruise and everything is crazy! We discuss our lives, smut books, and "December" from Angus. Why is Georgia so homophobic??
In this episode the girls discuss December, nepo babies, AnCaps, and much much more!
Comedian London Hughes joins Vick from LA to discuss her new memoir, how she tried to climb into a TV set aged five and why she's found greater success in America than the UK. London is a stand up comedian, TV writer, presenter and now a rising star in Hollywood. You may have seen her as a guest on numerous TV panel shows, or in her Netflix special To Catch a Dick, which was based on her critically acclaimed Edinburgh show of the same name. London's refreshingly outspoken attitude to her sexuality paired with her confidence, exuberance and wit have earned her the respect of American comedy A-Listers Kevin Hart and Dave Chapelle. But it hasn't been an easy journey. In her hilarious memoir, Living my Best Life, Hun, which has just been published, London catalogues the bullying she experienced throughout education and the many setbacks she's faced on her journey to stardom as a fearless black female voice in an overwhelmingly white male industry. London's book choices are: ** The Bed and Breakfast Star by Jacqueline Wilson ** Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison ** Ugly by Constance Briscoe ** The Last Black Unicorn by Tiffany Haddish ** You are a Badass by Jen Sincero Vick Hope, multi-award winning TV and BBC Radio 1 presenter, author and journalist, is the host of season six of the Women's Prize for Fiction Podcast. Hi Smooches! It's the return of Liz! But this is more like a time-capsule-Liz. We recorded this episode very shortly before she went into labor a few months ago, so some of our topical references are already a bit dated and there's a tiktok we mention that I simply could not find. Mea culpa. In this episode, we revisit a couple of our favorite books from when we were very young adults: Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging, the 1999 young adult novel by English author Louise Rennison; and The Princess Diaries book one by Meg Cabot, published in 2000. Revisiting our childhoods? I can't imagine that any trauma might come up... Stay tuned. Hey Friends! We are back with another episode covering "Angus, Thongs, and Full Frontal Snogging". This week we also talk about our hot takes on the Titan disaster, what the hell happened to the Education Connection lady, and what we've been up to lately. Why is Georgia such a bully?! Why is Aubree incapable of doing an Austrailian accent without offending our Aussie listeners? Tune in to find out!

IT'S SEASON SIX, BAYBEEEEE! How have we made it this far?! Karyn and Aubs had to find something fun to read after last season… so here it is: “Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging” by Louise Rennison! The chicks give a little deep dive on Louse Rennison's life (and death), talk about what they've been up to lately, and jump right into the first section of the book! LETSSGOLETSSGOLETSSGO
Have you ever reread a book and discovered that's what you based your entire personality around? Kaycee and Ashley's teenage years (and beyond) were totally shaped by Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging, the 1999 British YA novel by Louise Rennison. They spend much of the episode connecting their experiences of youth with the awkward, hilarious Georgia Nicholson and pondering how the character taught them how to let their weirdo flags fly. Other topics of discussion include the beauty of lists, spending half their teens walking around with soaking wet flared jeans, and coming to grips with their own mortality after talking about the trends that have re-emerged from their teen years. Plus, a good pet digression inspired by the titular Angus, Georgia's huge cat. Back from a brief hiatus, Mary dives into the quintessential YA novel that is Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging. What it lacks in plot it makes up for in pure 90s British humor. Included is a surprising amount of black magic, a shocking amount of incest, and a pleasing amount of one-liners from a toddler. Other highlights include an ongoing lesbian crisis, an unhinged cat, and early Dalgona coffee preparation. Episode Source Material: Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison

If you are a book lover of a certain age, you may have spent a lot of time reading authors like Judy Blume, Paula Danziger, Gary Paulsen, or Christopher Pike when you were a teenager. Although books began to be categorized as ‘young adult” as early as the 1960s, when we were teens we didn’t know that, and we certainly didn’t care what the boring grownups were calling the books we gravitated to. While it blows our minds to think that it has been 30+ years since the end of the 80s and early 1990s, a lot has changed in the book publishing industry since the time when we were young adults. Young adult literature is everywhere and has many subgenres, including dystopian, romance, and historical fiction. Our guest this week, Mindy Jett, is a self-professed book nerd who still gravitates toward YA fiction even though she has teenagers of her own. She talks about how reading YA is just like immersing yourself in a sci-fi world or a different time period except it is the world from a teen perspective. We discuss how reading YA fiction has given her more insight into her own children, and how much nostalgia from her own childhood plays into her love of books from that era. This is our last regular episode of 2020. Next week we will have a wrap-up episode where Carrie and I discuss some of our favorite books of the year that we overlooked during past episodes. Then we will take several weeks off for the holidays but will be back in early January to start season 4 with a whole new crop of cool and interesting bookish guests. On Episode 106, Alli and her guest explore one major question: how good (or not-so-good) does it feel to read a book that feels like a time capsule of an era gone by? As you'll hear in the episode, there are plenty of upsides and downsides, all discussed in the context of Louise Rennison's 1999 YA hit Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging. The conversation jumps from ‘90s movies and bad hair to toxic friendships and teen confidence. Jessica Goodman is the author of They Wish They Were Us.
