Ed's in Venice, so Alex and Kirsten discuss the FUKT.Purist Satirical Hypercar Reveal, fake engine sounds and smells, privacy, surveillance, Angeles Death Highway, Waymo in San Diego, Dumb Headlines, the Rivian R2, CyberCab challenges for 1st Responders, and Alex makes a prediction.EPISODE TIMESTAMPS00:00 — Welcome to The AutonocastAlex and Kirsten open an Ed-free episode and discuss Ed Niedermeyer's trip to Europe for the premiere of Alex Gibney's Elon Musk documentary.04:27 — FUKT Global and the Ultimate Car-Culture SatireAlex introduces FUKT Global and Angela's Death Highway, unpacking a viral AI-powered parody of modern enthusiast cars, EVs, synthetic driving experiences, and automotive marketing.08:39 — Fake Engine Sounds, Fake Manuals & Fake Gasoline SmellsWhy FUKT's fictional electric “Purist” brilliantly skewers synthetic transmissions, artificial engine sounds, simulated shifting, and the auto industry's attempts to recreate analog driving.12:02 — Surveillance, Flock Cameras & the Future of Driver PrivacyThe parody gets more serious: 14 interior cameras, connected vehicles, driver monitoring, and the provocative idea that “safety should follow the driver, not the car.”13:26 — Is This the Nightmare Future of Human Driving?Alex explains how mass-market vehicles could become increasingly automated, monitored, and restricted while true analog driving becomes a luxury available primarily to wealthy enthusiasts.15:00 — Can Technology Preserve Driving Freedom?A vision for future EVs that could reproduce the performance, sound, feel, and dynamics of classic Mustangs, Porsche 911s, and other enthusiast cars while balancing safety, privacy, freedom, and agency.17:03 — What Would an Autonomous-Vehicle Satire Look Like? The hosts imagine applying FUKT's approach to the AV industry: billion-dollar fundraising, robotaxi promises, surveillance, shifting timelines, and technology pivots.19:00 — Tesla Cybercab and the Power of “Narrative Command”Kirsten examines the optics surrounding Tesla's Cybercab event and how a relatively small deployment can appear enormous through social media, influencers, and Tesla's ability to control the autonomy narrative.21:01 — Tesla vs. Waymo: Perception vs. DeploymentAlex argues that Waymo may have thousands of vehicles operating while Tesla has far fewer Cybercabs, yet public perception increasingly treats the companies as peers in the robotaxi race.22:35 — Robotaxis Without Steering Wheels or PedalsZoox and Tesla Cybercab introduce a new safety challenge: what happens when a driverless vehicle without conventional controls becomes disabled or stuck?23:51 — First Responders and the Driverless-Car ProblemKirsten discusses emerging California rules addressing how autonomous vehicles interact with police, firefighters, emergency personnel, teleoperators, and roadside incidents.26:09 — Riding Waymo in San DiegoFresh from Waymo's newly launched San Diego service, Kirsten describes pricing, pickup locations, routing, passenger experience, and how the service compares with Uber.28:04 — Would You Put Your Child in a Waymo Alone? The discussion turns from abstract AV safety to a much more personal threshold: what would parents need to know before allowing a child to travel alone in an autonomous vehicle?29:06 — Robotaxis, Uber & Personal SafetyKirsten explores the tradeoff between a driverless vehicle that may require passengers to walk several blocks and a human-driven Uber offering true door-to-door service.32:42 — Why Autonomous Cars May Not Kill Car OwnershipAlex argues that parents and existing car owners may prefer personally owned autonomous vehicles that are always available rather than relying exclusively on shared robotaxi fleets.33:39 — The Cybercab First-Responder QuestionThe hosts return to Tesla Cybercab and debate how vehicles without manual controls can be moved when software, connectivity, or autonomy fails.35:23 — Tesla Cybercab, FMVSS & NHTSAKirsten explains the federal self-certification process, Tesla's Cybercab approach, vehicles without traditional controls, and NHTSA's inquiry into whether alternative systems satisfy federal safety requirements.37:47 — Is the NHTSA Inquiry a “Something Burger”?Alex and Kirsten debate how significant the federal scrutiny really is—and whether Tesla will simply continue deploying until regulators establish a boundary it must address.39:01 — Can You Drive a Cybercab With a Controller?A discussion of service modes, remote assistance, emergency controls, and reports and images suggesting unconventional ways Cybercabs might be maneuvered without a steering wheel.39:23 — The Waymo Headline Where Nothing HappenedThe hosts dissect a San Francisco Chronicle story about a toddler, a crosswalk, and an approaching Waymo—and debate clickbait versus meaningful AV safety journalism.42:26 — Why One AV Incident Can Affect the Entire IndustryAlex and Kirsten discuss how autonomous vehicles are often treated as a single technological category, meaning a serious incident involving one company could damage public confidence in every AV developer.44:28 — Has the Consumer AV Safety Debate Already Been Won?Alex clarifies his argument that, whatever unresolved regulatory and technical issues remain, autonomous vehicles are increasingly becoming normalized in the minds of ordinary consumers.45:14 — Kirsten's First Drive of the Rivian R2Kirsten previews her extended Rivian R2 test, discussing its driving experience, interior materials, ergonomics, improvements over the R1, and some surprisingly important design details.47:44 — Could the Rivian R2 Replace Alex's Tesla Model S?Alex explains why Tesla FSD—or an equivalent point-to-point driver-assistance system—has become a requirement for his next new vehicle, while Kirsten prepares to test Rivian's latest ADAS capabilities.48:15 — The Future of Driving & The Autonocast PartyThe episode closes with thoughts on how long human driving will remain practical and an early preview of the tenth annual Autonocast party.Topics: Tesla Cybercab, Waymo, autonomous vehicles, robotaxis, Tesla FSD, NHTSA, FMVSS, Zoox, Rivian R2, Uber, AV safety, autonomous vehicle regulation, first responders, driverless cars, automotive surveillance, Flock cameras, EVs, human driving, car culture, AI, ADAS, privacy, mobility, and In this interview of Just Tap In, Emilio Ortiz sits down with Ke'oni Hanalei for an exploration of Hawaiian and Mu/Lemurian wisdom, humanity's future, and what Ke'oni describes as a coming “completion event.” Drawing from teachings passed through his grandmother and a lineage spanning more than a thousand generations, Ke'oni shares Lemuria, Atlantis, the fifth world, Christ consciousness, reincarnation, heart coherence, prophecy, human evolution, and the spiritual meaning of our age. Together, Emilio and Ke'oni examine the idea that humanity may be moving through an Atlantean cycle, that AI could represent an evolutionary threshold, and that the transition ahead may be about remembering sacredness, self-love, authenticity, and inner authority. The conversation moves beyond lost civilizations into spirituality, consciousness, awakening, New Earth, ascension, Lemurian teachings, Atlantis, AI and consciousness, reincarnation, ancient wisdom, prophecy, and the evolution of the soul. Ke'oni explains why he sees Mu as the absorption of love, Atlantis as the challenging of love, the fifth world as movement beyond attachment to time and material reality, and love as the destiny of this universe. He and Emilio also explore whether technology will reveal if humanity repeats old patterns or completes them, why “unity consciousness” should never become assimilation, why inauthenticity may be spiritual disconnection, and how self-reflective love could become part of what comes next. This episode is for anyone drawn to Lemuria, Mu, Hawaiian spirituality, consciousness expansion, the fifth dimension, New Earth, Christ consciousness, sacred wisdom, human potential, and where humanity is headed next.___________________PODCAST CHAPTERS00:00 – Ke'oni Hanalei Intro1:03 - Opening a 20,000-Year-Old Mū Prayer3:09 - The Great Reassembly Happening on Earth4:39 - Raised Inside a 1,017-Generation Lineage11:32 - What Earth Changes Are Trying to Tell Us15:19 - The Plasmic Beings Who Came Before Lemuria17:40 - The Waters & the Coming Completion Event18:31 - How the Completion Event Could Affect Humanity19:36 - The Fifth World, Lyra & the Six Star Lineages22:18 - Why the Fifth Element Is Gravity23:05 - Is the Human Heart Actually a Black Hole?25:08 - Christ Consciousness & Escaping Reincarnation28:44 - Your Life Purpose May Be Coded Into Your Name34:55 - The True Origin & Destiny of Humanity38:07 - What Really Happened to Lemuria?40:58 - Lemurian Shapeshifters & the Atlantean Timeline43:07 - How Close Are We to the Completion Event?46:15 - Is AI Repeating What Happened in Atlantis?48:34 - The Fern Predicting a “Quantum Leap” for Humanity51:23 - The Greatest Form of Self-Harm52:43 - His Grandmother's Greatest Teaching54:03 - The Problem With “Unity Consciousness”56:51 - Could AI Actually Free Humanity?59:06 - What Would an Authentic New Earth Look Like?1:04:11 - The Ancient Way His Grandmother Raised Him1:06:43 - What We Still Don't Understand About Time1:10:55 - What Must Humanity Correct Now?1:12:33 - After 20,000 Years of Wisdom, What Are Humans?1:13:11 - Ke'oni's Message to Future Humanity1:14:53 - What Happens When We Finally Complete the Trauma?1:15:45 - Closing: Restoring Humanity's Buoyancy___________________Guest: Ke'oni Hanalei, Mū-Hawaiian Lineage Holder✦ Website | https://www.pohala.net/✦ Free ‘ULU Membership | https://www.ulu.pohala.net/Host: Emilio Ortiz✦ IG | https://www.instagram.com/iamemilioortiz/✦ Subscribe to Channel | https://www.youtube.com/EmilioOrtiz___________________© 2026 Emilio Ortiz. Ever drive on Highway 401, switch lanes because the one beside you looks faster... and somehow end up beside the exact same beige Corolla fifteen minutes later?Welcome to Toronto. And come to think of it... welcome to running a business. In Episode 401 of The MindShare Podcast, David Greenspan uses one of Toronto's favourite sources of frustration - Highway 401 - to talk about what happens when business slows down, we start watching everybody else's lane, changing direction, getting distracted and wondering whether somebody else knows something we don't. September is here, and Realtors everywhere are talking about the Fall Market. But September showing up on the calendar doesn't automatically mean you're mentally or operationally ready to take advantage of it.David walks through how to get yourself back into rhythm after summer, identify what slipped, reconnect your daily activities to the goals that actually matter, and protect the revenue-producing work that keeps getting buried underneath email, administration, social media and everything else competing for your attention. He also digs into what to do when the market feels slow, why you shouldn't abandon a strategy because of a few bad conversations, how to use your own numbers to decide when to adjust, and why September should be about creating movement rather than expecting every conversation to immediately turn into a transaction. The road is in front of you.Figure out where you're going, stop changing lanes every time somebody beside you moves a little faster, and get yourself moving. What You'll LearnWhy the Highway 401 traffic analogy is a lot like running a businessHow watching what everyone else is doing can interrupt your own momentumWhy September arriving doesn't automatically mean you're ready for the Fall MarketHow to identify what slipped during the summer and decide what actually needs to come backWhy trying to restart seventeen habits at once usually makes things worseHow to reconnect prospecting, follow-up and other business activities to goals you actually care aboutWhy your destination should determine your business decisions instead of whatever lane looks fastest todayHow to identify the one thing you're avoiding even though you know it needs to get doneWhy you can work ten hours and still avoid the activities that create businessWhich revenue-producing activities deserve protection in your scheduleHow to evaluate activity based on numbers and conversations rather than how the market feelsWhy life events continue creating real estate opportunities even in difficult marketsHow to define a successful September using things you can actually influenceWhy getting your rhythm back may be more valuable than expecting immediate transactionsHow to “recalculate” when your original plan, market or goals changeWhy there is still plenty of year left to create meaningful business momentum00:00 – Welcome to Highway 401The traffic story, the beige Corolla, switching lanes and why running a business can feel exactly the same. 04:00 – The Fall Market Is Here. Are You Actually Ready?September has arrived, but the calendar changing doesn't mean your habits, routines and business are automatically ready to go. 06:30 – What Slipped During the Summer?Database cleanup, follow-up, prospecting, content, planning and the routines that may have loosened up while you enjoyed summer. 09:15 – Stop Changing LanesWhy constantly copying what other Realtors are doing can disrupt your own momentum, and why your destination should determine your strategy. 10:55 – Commercial Break13:05 – What Are You Avoiding? The one thing you already know you should be doing over the next couple of weeks - and the real reasons you keep putting it off. 15:05 – Protect the Activities That Create BusinessWhy email, admin and social media will happily consume your entire day unless you deliberately protect conversations, follow-up, appointments and relationships. 18:10 – What Would a Good September Actually Look Like?Moving away from unrealistic transaction goals and focusing instead on reconnecting with people, building pipeline, booking appointments and getting your rhythm back. 20:50 – RecalculateWhat your GPS can teach you about adjusting when the market, your goals or your original plan changes - without having an existential crisis about it. 22:25 – Stop Preparing to PrepareWhy you don't need the perfect Fall Market plan before making the call, cleaning up the pipeline or creating something useful today. 24:45 – Your September Action PlanFive questions to identify what slipped, what matters, what's stealing your attention and where you want your business to be by September 30.The Fall Market isn't going to magically fix your business because the calendar says September.Your job is to get yourself moving again.Figure out what slipped over the summer, reconnect your daily activities to something you actually care about, protect the work that creates revenue and stop changing direction every time somebody else's lane looks faster. And when something genuinely isn't working?Recalculate. You don't need to spend September staring in the rear-view mirror at what you should have done earlier this year. There are still almost four months left, and that's a lot of time to create movement when you're focused on the right things.Related Episodes:Ep400 | Too Much Shit to Do? Could a U.S. military intervention in Mexico actually happen—and what would it look like if it did? Ed Calderon joins the show and we break down the growing tension between the United States and Mexico, the strategic importance of northern Mexico's manufacturing base, and why a future conflict could extend far beyond the fight against cartels and fentanyl. The conversation explores the potential consequences of military intervention, including mass migration, border shutdowns, trade disruptions, economic shortages, and the possibility of cartel groups transforming into organized guerrilla forces using drones, IEDs, precision weapons, and other modern battlefield tactics. We also examine why Mexico could become an extremely difficult environment for a prolonged U.S. military campaign, how deeply interconnected Mexican and American communities are, and why recent operations against historically powerful cartel figures may signal a much larger geopolitical shift. In this episode of Billion Dollar Babie, Tara sits down with Jordan Cheyenne to break down the mindset shifts she believes helped take her from a broke single mom making $1,500 a month with $100,000 in debt to building a multimillion-dollar life. Jordan explains why your childhood programming around money may still be controlling your reality—and why simply working harder isn't always the answer. They dive into manifestation, abundance, the subconscious mind, limiting beliefs, hustle culture, feminine energy, detachment, and learning to embody the person you want to become before the external results arrive. Jordan also reveals how she trained her brain to believe her dream G-Wagon was already hers before eventually buying it. The conversation also explores why wealth triggers people, how family beliefs can unknowingly limit you, and why becoming successful may require becoming an entirely new version of yourself. Most people think that socialism will come to America suddenly through either a violent revolution or in some other dramatic fashion, but what if Americans simply voted for it one entitlement, one regulation, and one government guarantee at a time? In this episode of The P.A.S. Report Podcast, Professor Nick Giordano takes the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) platform at its word and follows democratic socialism to its logical conclusion. From rent control, social housing, and single-payer healthcare to public ownership of major industries and a new constitutional system, this episode examines how socialist policies could transform private property, the economy, individual freedom, and the relationship between American citizens and government. What You'll Learn In This Episode: The Road to Socialist America: How democratic socialism could advance through incremental policies, government guarantees, and greater dependency without a violent revolution Private Property and the Housing Crisis: How rent controls, government housing policies, and restrictions on landlords could weaken private property rights while driving greater government control of housing Healthcare, Redistribution, and Government Dependency: Why single-payer healthcare and wealth redistribution could expand bureaucratic power without eliminating inequality Nationalization and the American Economy: What DSA proposals for public ownership of major corporations and essential industries could mean for investment, innovation, economic growth, and prosperity The Constitution and a Democratic Socialist Republic: Why the DSA calls for a new constitution, abolition of the Senate, and fundamental changes to the presidency, Supreme Court, federalism, separation of powers, and checks and balances Episode Chapters 00:00 – What Would a Socialist America Actually Look Like? 03:20 – The Democratic Socialist Platform: Government Control From Cradle to Grave 13:00 – How Socialism Takes Hold: The Incremental Path to Government Dependency 20:18 – Socialist Control of Housing, Healthcare, and the Economy 25:44 – From Private Property to Government Control of American Industry 36:52 – How Socialism Dismantles the Constitution and Checks and Balances 43:12 – The Socialist Endgame—and How Americans Can Stop It

What would it look like if your family had a constitution, a shared document of values, mission, and legacy that guided every generation after you? This week, Jon Goehring and Coach Jim Johnson welcome Brad Dufrane, managing partner of New York Life's Finger Lakes office, 30 year veteran of the financial services industry, marathon and Spartan race finisher, and one of the most genuinely warm and thoughtful leaders the Lounge has had the pleasure of hosting.Brad opens with the three things he wishes someone had told him on day one of his leadership journey, humility, gratitude, and servant leadership, and makes the case that these are not soft skills but the foundation everything else is built on. He is candid about the fact that none of them came naturally to him early in his career, and shares how intentional work with a positive psychology coach transformed the way he leads both at the office and at home. The conversation goes deep on hiring and team building, including Brad's powerful reframe of the classic people-first hiring approach. Rather than falling in love with a candidate, he coaches his emerging leaders to fall in love with the process, because a great process filters for the right people every time. He also shares three interview questions he swears by, including one that almost always catches candidates off guard and one that opens the door to the most authentic conversation of the entire interview.Brad then unpacks the concept of the family constitution, inspired by the book What Would the Rockefellers Do, and explains how his family built a living document around shared values, giving, and generational legacy. He shares the origin story of his family's annual giving tradition, which started with a Saturday morning he almost resented and turned into a 30 year practice now carried on independently by his own children.Jon and Coach also draw out the connection between Brad's physical discipline, running marathons and completing Spartan races alongside his wife Wendy, and his professional and personal effectiveness. His answer brings the conversation back to the same idea that runs through everything he shares: the difference between living life by default and living life by design. The episode closes beautifully with Brad answering the same question he asks every candidate he interviews, and his answer is worth staying for.Whether you are a young leader trying to find your footing, a seasoned leader looking to be more intentional at home as well as at work, or simply someone who wants to build a life and a legacy worth passing on, this episode will challenge and inspire you.Connect with Brad: LinkedIn at Brad Dufrane: https://www.linkedin.com/in/bradley-dufrane-fscp-chfc-clu-clf-lutcf-86499194/Email bdufrane@newyorklife.comGrab Little Billy and Beans on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Little-Billy-Beans-Brad-Dufrane/dp/B0C5P7VXN7

This week, host Sam Ko goes upstream from our usual clinical and business topics to sit down with Dr. Roberto Malinow, emeritus professor at UC San Diego, member of both the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Medicine, and one of the world's leading researchers on synaptic plasticity and NMDA receptor biology. His work has been cited more than 30,000 times, and his recent perspective piece takes a very different view of what's actually happening during a ketamine infusion. The core of this conversation is his hypothesis that ketamine works by selectively weakening hyperactive brain circuits, but only the ones actively firing while the drug is on board. It's a finding that raises some genuinely uncomfortable questions about the standard set and setting approach, and points to chronic pain treatment as a practical place to start testing these ideas clinically. You'll also hear about the brain's "disappointment center," the lateral habenula, and why it may be hyperactive in depression, the Stanford anesthesia study and what it suggests about brain activity during treatment, and a wide ranging look at consciousness, optogenetics, the gut-brain connection, and what basic science still doesn't fully understand about how psychiatric drugs work. What You'll Learn in This Episode· Revolutionary ketamine mechanism - How Dr. Malinow's hypothesis suggests ketamine works by weakening hyperactive brain circuits, but only when those specific circuits are actively firing during treatment· The disappointment center concept - Understanding the lateral habenula as the brain's disappointment center that inhibits dopamine and may be hyperactive in depression, serving an evolutionary purpose in reinforcement learning· Challenge to set and setting orthodoxy - How activating negative thoughts or painful experiences could possibly enhance therapeutic outcomes· Neuroplasticity fundamentals - How synapses can be rapidly modified and why NMDA receptors are crucial for both strengthening and weakening neural pathways, forming the basis for learning and memory· Rapid vs. delayed therapeutic effects - Why ketamine can work almost immediately while traditional antidepressants take weeks, and what this reveals about different mechanisms of action· Chronic pain treatment implications - How activating pain circuits during ketamine infusions might be more effective than current protocols, and why chronic pain could be the ideal testing ground for this hypothesis· Basic science translation - How laboratory findings about synaptic plasticity and NMDA receptors connect to real-world therapeutic applications in depression, PTSD, and pain management· Optogenetics technology - How scientists can now deliver light-sensitive proteins to specific neurons, allowing precise activation or inactivation of brain circuits to study behavior and memory· Memory manipulation research - Fascinating studies showing how specific memories can be turned on and off using targeted brain stimulation, with implications for trauma and addiction treatment· Consciousness and synaptic function - Exploring the complex relationship between individual neurons and higher-order brain functions, and why bridging these levels remains challengingEpisode 59 show notes:00:00:00 Teaser: Those hyperactive circuits…00:00:24 Episode Introduction and Guest Overview00:01:12 Sam Introduces and Welcomes Dr. Roberto Malinow00:02:41 Background: From Reed College to The MD/PhD Path00:05:17 Why Basic Science Won Out Over Clinical Medicine00:06:06 The Lecture That Started It All: Professor Rodolfo Llinás and Synapses00:06:51 How Ketamine Interacts with the NMDA Receptor00:07:47 The "Disappointment Center": What the Lateral Habenula Does and Why It Matters in Depression00:09:16 The Standard Set and Setting Approach in Outpatient Ketamine Clinics00:10:12 The Three-Part Hypothesis: Neuroplasticity, Hyperactive Circuits, and Negative Thoughts00:11:49 Written Exposure Therapy and PTSD: Priming Circuits Before the Infusion00:12:53 Chronic Pain as the Easier Testing Ground for the Hypothesis00:14:20 Activating the Pain Pathways During a Ketamine Infusion00:17:23 The Anesthesia Study (Heifets/Stanford): Why the Brain Needs to Be Active00:18:48 What Would a Human Study Design Actually Look Like?00:20:41 Animal Study Evidence Supporting the Active-Stimulus Hypothesis00:21:33 Zooming Out: Synapses, Consciousness, and the Shakespeare Analogy00:23:18 Optogenetics Explained: Using Light to Control Specific Neurons00:27:31 What Don't We Understand About Depression?00:28:29 Lateral Habenula in Animal Depression Models and Dr. Malinow's Own Experiments00:29:13 The Dystopian Scenario: Using Ketamine-Like Drugs to Wipe Out Ideas00:31:31 Common Misconceptions Clinicians Have About Synapses00:32:47 What Surprised Dr. Malinow Most About Studying Synapses00:35:15 Why Ketamine Works Rapidly While SSRIs Take Weeks00:37:30 The "Party Trick": Learning Is Neuroplasticity in Real Time00:39:13 NMDA Receptors and Their Role in Learning and Memory00:39:47 Optogenetics Research: Turning Fear Memories On and Off in Animals00:42:08 Glutamate: 90% of Synaptic Transmission Explained00:43:55 Synapses in the Gut: The Enteric Nervous System00:45:58 The Gut-Brain Connection and Future Research00:46:23 Papers Worth Reading in the Ketamine Space00:47:50 The Psychedelic Renaissance: Psilocybin, the Disappointment Center, and What's Next00:50:20 Could the Activation Hypothesis Apply to Psilocybin and MDMA as Well?00:52:57 Rapid-Fire Questions Begin00:53:19 Time Travel00:54:19 Hidden Talent00:54:48 Alternate Career00:55:42 Advice to 18-Year-Old Roberto00:56:29 Final Thoughts and Call to Action for Clinicians00:57:00 Where to Find Dr. Malinow's Research (UCSD Website)00:57:40 Sam's Closing Remarks00:58:32 Episode EndingThanks for listeningConnect with Dr. Malinow:Website: https://biology.ucsd.edu/research/faculty/rmalinowEmail: rmalinow@ucsd.edu

Stories about the Sox have given the guys plenty of news to react to, and the latest batch continues to highlight just how dysfunctional the front office has become. Sam Kennedy's quotes about selling in early June brought the reality of the season into sharp focus, leaving the boys asking whether simply winning series is what fans should even want for the rest of the year. The team's recent form won't stop Jared, Steve, and Tyler from heading to AMB. They recap their latest Fenway Friday experience—including an interview that will be released soon! The AI theorist who thinks consciousness is a software agent — and that God, AGI, and the apocalypse are all pointing at the same thing. What you think is "the world" isn't outside you. It's a simulation your brain produces, and the self that experiences it may not exist in the way you think it does.J oscha Bach is an AI researcher and cognitive scientist whose work sits at the intersection of computation, consciousness, and the architecture of the mind. He's one of the few thinkers willing to explain what experience actually is in mechanistic terms — without retreating to mysticism or handwaving. We cover: -why the world you perceive is a model your brain generates — not the physical world itself -what's actually wrong with Roger Penrose's quantum consciousness theory -why simulating a connectome won't produce behavior -what neuroscience is still missing; whether AGI is possible on current hardware -how religion functions as an operating system for civilizations -why atheists like Sam Harris may be more Protestant than they realize The self is not the substrate. For over a year, one of my most sought after guests to come on the show has been Chris Sherlock of Retina Rescue.  Way back in December 2019, I had a chance to sit down and have a discussion with Chris and I have wanted to have another opportunity ever since and it finally happened! Episode 107 is all about Chris Sherlock and his experience repairing and collecting the Kodak Retina system.  I promised Chris, I would make it very clear that he is still retired and is not taking in any new work, but Chris is still active on YouTube, publishing complete walkthroughs of CLAs on Retinas and other cameras. Joining Chris are Anthony, Paul, Stephen, Theo, and Mike and a long list of callers, including A.J. Gentile, Aaron Knesal, Ben Ryerson, Doug Willoughby, Eric Schneck, Fernando Villava, Joao Gomes, Greg Harp, Howard Sandler, Michael Boudreaux, Norris Liu, Pat Casey, Robert Rotoloni, and Will Pinkham. Chris starts things off with how he got started repairing cameras, all the way back in the 1970s working for Kodak in Wellington, New Zealand and then continues onto his first Retina models and why he started his site. We discuss a wide range of Kodak Retina models, from the folders, solid bodied rangefinders, to the SLRs.  Chris, Mike, and others share their favorite models and which ones we recommend for first time shooters and which ones have issues to look out for.  Chris explains what kinds of problems the Retina cocking rack may cause and why the later cameras have a long silk cord in them. It wouldn't be a Camerosity Episode if we didn't get off track, so we can thank Howard for bringing up the Voigtländer Ultramatic, Theo gives an update on the most recent Sydney Camera show, Greg Harp shares his recent 1930s Canon Standard pickup, and Aaron talks about his Yashica 44 TLR he bought from Paul. As always, the topics we discuss on the Camerosity Podcast are influenced by you!  Please don't feel like you have to be an expert on a specific type of camera, or have the level of knowledge on par with other people on the show.  We LOVE people who are into shooting or collecting cameras, no matter how long you've been doing it, so please don't consider your knowledge level to be a prerequisite for joining! The guys and I rarely know where each episode is going to go until it happens, so if you'd like to join us on a future episode, be sure to look out for our show announcements on our Camerosity Podcast Facebook page, the Camerosity Discord server, and right here on mikeeckman.com. We usually record every other Monday and announcements, along with the Zoom link are typically shared 2-3 days in advance. For our next episode, we are will be revisiting Canon rangefinders.  The last time we spent a majority of an episode on these wonderful cameras was way back in Episode 18, so we thought it was time to invite some newer fans of the show to call in and share which models they love and whatever else they want to talk about!  We will record Episode 108 on Monday, April 27th at 7pm Central Daylight Time, 8pm Eastern Daylight Time, and 6pm Canada Saskatchewan Time.  For more time zones, please consult the World Time Buddy calculator and plug in your time.  Make sure you set your calendars and look out for the show announcement at the usual locations and be prepared to join us! Creativity, Trauma, and the Nervous System: Why Healing Expands What's Possible

Illuminated with Jennifer Wallace

What if healing from trauma is not just a psychological process, but a fundamentally creative one? In this episode, Jennifer Wallace and Elisabeth Kristof are joined by Laura Dawn, a psychedelic-informed author, researcher, and mentor who has spent more than two decades exploring how altered states can open creative pathways, support trauma recovery, and reconnect people with vision and possibility. Laura opens by naming something most people carry but rarely say out loud: the moment someone told them they were not creative. Research by Brené Brown suggests that around 80% of people had an experience in childhood that planted a limiting belief about themselves—and for half of them, it was about creativity. From there, the conversation expands into something much bigger: a reframing of creativity itself. Not as a talent or personality trait, but as a fundamental function of being human. Drawing on her graduate research and the Five P's of creativity framework, Laura maps creativity onto the arc of healing. She shows how psychological flexibility—one of the strongest predictors of post-traumatic growth—is also directly linked to creative capacity. The connection between trauma, recovery, psychedelics, and creativity is not metaphorical. It is neurological. Together, they explore how trauma narrows perception into rigid patterns, and how healing—through nervous system regulation, somatic work, and in some cases psychedelic-assisted therapy—reopens the mind to new ideas, new narratives, and new ways of being. The conversation also challenges the culture of speed and optimization, reframing slow living as a deep psychological restructuring rather than an aesthetic. And it asks a larger question: what becomes possible, individually and collectively, when we begin to value creativity and beauty as much as we value productivity and output? In This Episode, You Will Learn: Why creativity is not a personality trait but a fundamental dimension of what it means to be human How the industrial education system planted limiting beliefs about creativity that still shape adults today The five P's of creativity framework and how it maps onto psychedelic preparation and integration Why psychological flexibility is a predictor of both post-traumatic growth and creative achievement How the default mode network drives self-referential rumination in trauma and addiction, and how psychedelics disrupt that loop Why nervous system preparation before a psychedelic journey changes what becomes possible in and after the experience The surprising connection between compassion, forgiveness, and creative capacity Why slow living is actually a profound re-patterning of how we relate to time, not a lifestyle trend What creativity looks like as a mechanism for healing complex trauma, not just as an outcome of it Chapters 0:00 - The Healing Journey as a Creative Act 01:32 - Welcome and Introducing Laura Dawn 03:07 - What Is Creativity? The bank refused the loan — but 40 years of whole life insurance quietly said yes. In this episode, Mary Jo shares one of the most powerful real-life examples she's ever seen of what traditional whole life insurance can become over time — even when it's not structured for Infinite Banking. This client started buying whole life policies at age 20 and simply stayed consistent for over 40 years. No fancy strategy. No Infinite Banking design. Just patience, discipline, and a commitment to paying premiums no matter what. When the bank refused to help him rebuild after a major loss, his life insurance stepped in — providing liquidity, flexibility, and control the bank never could. What followed was a complete shift in leverage, power, and perspective. This episode breaks down: Why canceling whole life is often a massive mistake How base-only policies quietly build serious strength over decades What banks don't understand about policy loans And why this client didn't even realize he already owned a bank If you have whole life insurance — or have ever been told to cancel it — you need to hear this.

In this episode, Garrett Gunderson, author of What Would the Rockefellers Do?, joins Cameron Christiansen and Anthony Faso to discuss how the wealthy think differently about money and how to design a fulfilling life.  Unlike conventional wisdom, the Rockefellers didn't rely on chasing high rates of return but focused on keeping money in motion. High-income dentists are some of the best producers on the planet… but many are still financially fragile. One injury, one unexpected life event, one production dip—and the whole system starts to wobble. In this episode of Dentistry on Fire, I sit down with my friend Michael G. Isom (founder of Vault A.S. and co-author of What Would the Rockefellers Do?) to unpack the biggest money mistakes high earners make—and the systems that create real certainty. We talk about why “more income” doesn't automatically equal financial freedom, how your identity can get dangerously tied to production, and why that creates stress at home and in the practice. Then we break down the concept of being your own bank—a strategy focused on liquidity, protection, and control using cash value mechanics—so you're not dependent on a traditional bank when life happens. If you're a dentist who wants peace of mind, better decision-making, and a path to legacy, this episode will change how you see money. Why high-income earners can still be one setback away from crisisThe “money lie” that keeps dentists trapped in stress and overworkHow production swings can create an emotional roller coaster at homeWhat “be your own bank” actually means in simple termsCash value basics (explained in plain English) and why liquidity mattersHow policy loans work (and how they differ from bank loans)The protection/asset-defense angle most dentists never considerHow to build certainty so you can lead better—and live better 00:00 Intro: High-income dentists, fragile finances00:02 The biggest money lie high earners believe00:03 Michael's rock-bottom story + turning point00:13 Money pressure, identity, and leadership00:23 Shiny-object spending + boredom in practice00:30 Vision, purpose, and staying focused00:35 Production swings → stress at home00:41 What “Be Your Own Bank” means00:48 Cash value explained simply00:49 How policy loans work (vs banks)00:56 Real examples: using liquidity strategically01:01 One action to take this week + resources01:03 Best way to contact Michael01:04 Closing + legacy mindset #Dentistry #DentalPractice #FinancialFreedom #InfiniteBanking #WealthStrategy
