Imagine the moment you're holding a scalpel over your own skin, knowing you need to cut into yourself in order to save your life. Leonid Rogozov was doctor who was a novice at surgery, but found himself needing to do exactly that in order to survive. In this episode, we talk about self-surgery and tell the story of the man who performed his own appendectomy while stranded at an Antarctic Research Station. Then we play the quiz game with Glen Tickle, who just completed a comedy tour of Hungary. Comedian Glen Tickle says he owes much of his creative live to seeing Kevin Smith's CLERKS when he was in high school. A New Jersey native like Smith (and like the film's characters), Glen didn't just see himself on screen -- he also saw a style of creative expression that felt achievably close-to-home. Now a comedian and father of two, he also felt compelled to shout-out the goofy dad king of modern children's programming, Bandit. Then, Jordan has one quick think about Totally Killer.***With Jordan Crucchiola and Glen Tickle

This one is being posted a little later than I wanted to. I couldn't help it. I had to go to Florida...again!! It's like that time a few years ago? When I went down to Florida for that acting gig but it ended up just being some sort of informercial scam, and I just couldn't remember all that Spanish!! But it's okay. They fired me and I got to hang out with the rest of the crew on the beach before they drove me to the airport. This time was different. This time was kind of boring to be honest. I didn't get to do much. I did record some of the hot heat that was thick like molasses but I'm not going to feature that on this episode. This episode just rolled out of me. I was like one of those bowling ball return chutes. I started clunking and clanking and the next thing you know I spit a giant bowling ball out of my mouth. And then you stuck your hands in the finger holes!! Gross!!!!! But it's not gross. I'm just messing with you. I was actually just going to continue typing until the episode was totally uploaded. You know, a sort of "stream of conciousness" thing? But this fucking internet connection is so slow!! What the fuck? And I just had the cable guy here a few weeks ago to replace the box and for about 3 minutes it was working like a charm but I guess we're back to the old shitty internet service. What can I do? I guess I could call and compl- OOH look!! The episode is done uploading. Phew. I was really going to have to start treading in some dangerous territory if it didn't wrap up soon. But good good. We're all set. Enjoy the episode!!Support the showhunchbunny.com

On this episode, I talk all about Star Trek: Deep Space Nine with none other than comedian extraordinaire Glen Tickle!! We talk all about all sorts of things ranging from Marvel movies to people that star in Marvel movies. And of course, there's the obvious thing about his name. It rhymes with tentacle!!!! I wanted to say something so bad, but we didn't bring that up. It's not appropriate for this type of heady discussion. Either way, it's a good time and it's here for everyone to enjoy!!To investigate more on Glen, see when and where's he's performing and to link to his social media stuff, go here: https://www.glentickle.com/Support the showhunchbunny.com

This episode of the Hungarian Heritage podcast is the third in a three part series of guests who are all of Hungarian decent, that were all born in the United States, but have three very different experiences about being a Hungarian American. In this series we touch upon what their Hungarian connection has been throughout their lives so far, how they have stayed connected with their Hungarian heritage, and for this episode you will hear about how my guest has just recently taken the leap to make a deeper connection to his previously untapped Hungarian Heritage. In this third episode of the series, you will hear from Glen Tickle, and he has a healthy fraction of Hungarian heritage, but as you will hear in the episode, he spent most of his life with little connection or information about his Hungarian ancestry. Recently, though, that has all changed for Glen Tickle, and you will hear all about Glen's language learning experience, his quest for Hungarian citizenship, as well as, how he weaves being Hungarian into his comedy act. Most importantly, you will find that Glen's experience being a fraction of Hungarian, doesn't make him any less excited to embrace the Hungarian Culture. So, thanks for listening to this episode about Glen Tickle's Hungarian American experience, and I hope that his words have inspired you. Don't forget to check the show notes below for information on how to follow Glen Tickle and find out where and when he will be performing his comedy act. Remember, even If you only have a fraction of Hungarian heritage, you can still embrace that part of your culture and enjoy all that it has to offer, just like Glen Tickle. In this episode I talk with Comedian Glen Tickle (his real name!) about his comedy special, "Good Grief; A Comedy About Loss And Being Bad At It." After the death of his brother Mark, Glen started writing jokes about his grief as a way of processing his own emotions, and ultimately turned it into a full hour of comedy. A big topic in comedy is how to turn tragedy into hilarious bit. No two comics know this better than Glen Tickle and Winston Hodges. They have both been able to transform family deaths into hilarious comedy specials. This is no easy task, but they speak candidly about their process to finding the light in life's darkness and how you can do the same. In this episode, I had the absolute privilege of speaking with Glen Tickle, standup comedian, writer, husband, father, and the creator of one of my favorite specials of all time, “Good Grief.” We talked about what it’s like being in comedy while faced with loss, writing jokes about grief because it’s the only thing you want to talk about, learning how to play to the audience, Buckaroo Banzai, how 100 people can be in a room and if 99 are having a good time but 1 person isn’t, that’s the person a performer will focus on, how being unable to stop making jokes about uncomfortable topics isn’t new, when making jokes about tragedies doesn't go over well (like Gilbert Gottfried), how comedians can make jokes about their personal tragedies but not other people’s tragedies (like Tig Notaro), the incredibly dumb things people say to those in grief, how you should only say “let me know if you need anything at all” if you really mean it, how your kids prepare you for hecklers, how surprised Glen was to find others who used humor to cope, and how therapy is just a place to have your material reviewed. For more information about Death Is Hilarious, visit deathishilarious.com To get in touch, email deathishilarious@gmail.com. Hi everybody! In this episode I interact with Glen Tickle. Whether it's our jobs, our way of life, or we actually lost someone close to us, we've all had to cope with loss. Dealing with grief is an incredibly difficult task, and with emotions running high, sometimes all we can do is laugh. Comedian Glen Tickle released an entire album devoted to it, so we invited him onto the podcast to learn how he dealt with the experience of losing a brother, but how he turned it into nearly an hour of poignant, funny, and cathartic comedy. I mean, how awkward is it when we have to figure out just the right thing to say to comfort someone else experiencing grief? We prove you CAN laugh at that. In this episode, we talk with Glen about: -If anyone in his family was mad that he made an entire comedy album based on the death of his brother. -Glen's quarantine project, Jerk Magazine. -Laurie Kilmartin's album about her dead dad. -The conception of his album, "Good Grief: A Comedy About Loss And Being Bad At It." -Stolen jokes / parallel thinking. -Reincarnation. -The weird things people will say to comfort you when you experience loss. -How Glen worked out an entire hour about death to prepare for the album recording. -Producing an album. -Drawing crowds while touring as a little-known comedian. -The inexperienced comedian's most frequent mistake. -The Michael Richards incident. -Similarities between delivering a eulogy and a wedding speech. -The difference between telling jokes about your dead brother and hearing jokes about your dead son. -Sneaking easter eggs and inside jokes into your bits. -Feeling bad about doing comedy so soon after losing a loved one. -Therapy. -How comedians tend to handle the stages of grief differently. -Was Glen's brother actually in the CIA? -Stating cold, unfeeling facts to deal with grief. -Is it okay to 'um' and 'uh' as a comedian? -Why "I don't know what to say" might be the best thing to say to someone dealing with loss. -And more! Additional bonus footage available if you become a Patron. Visit patreon.com/youcantlaughpod for exclusive access. Produced by Golden Ox Studio | Music: Producedbyzip

Buckaroo Banzai with Glen Tickle Somewhere on a hard drive, at the top of a Word doc, etched in ones and zeroes, is a single phrase. One we wrote down at the inception of this very show, a combination of comedy and film and sex appeal so potent that no man-made medium of sound could even hope to contain it: “Glen Tickle on Buckaroo Banzai” Please enjoy. Glen Tickle is a working comedian. He's not a total unknown but he's certainly not in the same atmosphere as Sarah Silverman or Chris Rock either. So how does an artist make a living? Last year he made $30,000 but in others he made far less, and he's been paid as little as $20 for a gig. This episodes explores how artists negotiate the promise of a potentially large career with the constant turmoil of sometimes not knowing from where your next check will come or for how much it will even be. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/wallet-voyeur/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/wallet-voyeur/support
