“J-E-double-F” is how the golden-haired grappler introduced himself to a national audience in 1993. “J-A-double-R. E-double-T” is how he finished that introduction. If you're a longtime fan of professional wrestling it has been impossible to miss the name of Jeff Jarrett in the squared circle. The third-generation talent grew up in the business of steel chairs, heel-turns and backstage politics. And if you've watched his career unfold you know this Tennessee-born natural heel has a unique history. A heel who for many years would tell you he was both the “World's Greatest Wrestler” and “World's Greatest Entertainer”. That self-styled bravado drew the ire of fans and the notice of promoters in this unusual industry.

I'm back with another Episode of #BringThePain and my guest is a long time friend that I first met through our Buddy Doc Roto. Thomas AKA Kickman was our hockey analyst back in the Scout Army days. He brought a different aspect to Daily Fantasy Hockey as he explains. Then we talk Seasonal Fantasy football since we have been in so many leagues over the years. We talk about so many topics in this episode that this is my longest episode ever and I couldn't have pulled it off without Kick. He has wanted to talk to me about Verne Gagne for months after I released my March Madness style Greatest Wrestler of All Time list. That leads down a path of wrestling memories and so many spots from the past I don't really know about because of my age.We have such a great time on this one as we talk about the NFL, NBA, NHL and local sports. We talk about the importance of local sports and how it ties into the Major sports as well as Wrestling. From the old school territories to the product we seen on the TV so much now we bring up how hard it was to watch some of the federations back then. It truly was an honor to catch up with Kick and I hope you have a great time on this journey back in time with us and how things look now a days even with the #Coronamania running wild! This may be a long one but I think you will be #Entertained so that is enough talk... Let's get to it! #OhYeahFollow me on.. The event aims at honoring excellence and achievement in the horror and sci-fi genre and coincides with the opening night of the annual special event at the theme park Halloween Horror Nights in October. **My favorite match is the Undertaker vs Mankind, King of the Ring (1998)This was the infamous hell in a cell match that was probably Mick Foley's greatest career match. This is one of the most popular matches of all time and the highlights of Taker throwing Foley off the top of the cell or through the cell are used all the time. While it may not have been the best technically wrestling match of Undertaker's career, it was one of the most exciting. The feud between Mankind and Undertaker was very underrated. This match contained some of the most insane stunts ever performed in the WWE.Here is what happen this week in the WWEOn Smackdown: WWE recognized the Greatest Wrestler of all time by playing Undertaker's boneyard match. In Riddle's inauguration to Smackdown, Riddle defeated A.J. Styles in a non-title match. Roman Reigns has been out of action since a week prior to WrestleMania 36. He was interviewed by The Hindu Times, in summary, he is not worried about the WWE workplace. He does not trust the performers because they travel a lot. (*) In other words, you cannot trust anyone on what they do outside the performance center. There is not a bubble established. Reigns is cautious on the safety of his family. Talks about Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton moving to NXT. Orton requested to work with Tommaso Ciampa. No word on Daniel Bryan's potential opponent. And Vince McMahon is allowing Raw and Smackdown to appear on NXT. The WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony is being planned for Summerslam. There is no word about the date or place on Summerslam. The Greatest American Bash returns on the NXT Brand. The event was first established on July 6, 1985, under the National Wrestling Alliance, NWA by Jim Crockett Promotions. Episode 52: A Tribute to Harley Race: Bobby and Jeremy pay their respects to wrestling’s one and only Harley Race. Harley recently passed away on August 1 at the age of 76. On this week’s episode Bobby and Jeremy talk about, “The Greatest Wrestler on God’s Green Earth.”
There are a lot of cliched names for all-time greats, and many of them apply to Harley Race. A Man’s Man. A Champion’s Champion. A Hall Of Famer’s Hall Of Famer. And so on.
There are a lot of cliched names for all-time greats, and many of them apply to Harley Race. A Man’s Man. A Champion’s Champion. A Hall Of Famer’s Hall Of Famer. And so on. There’s a reason why on The Wrestling Brethen shows the term “WWHD” (What Would Harley Do?) comes up from time to … Read More "Vol. 29: Harley Race, The Greatest Wrestler On God’s Green Earth" The post Vol. 29: Harley Race, The Greatest Wrestler On God’s Green Earth appeared first on Classic Wrestling Memories.
Jonathan Hood was joined by Kris Zellner on the passing of Harley Race. They discussed Harley's career as NWA Champion, his run with WWF, booking in Central States Wrestling in Kansas City and much more. Follow TWT: www.twitter.com/wrestlingtwt www.instagram.com/wrestlingtwt Follow Kris: www.twitter.com/kriszellner Podcast: https://soundcloud.com/btspod http://placetobenation.com/category/podcasts/exile-on-badstreet/ Former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Harley Race referred to himself as "The Greatest Wrestler on God's Green Earth" and with good reason. After winning three AWA World Tag Team Championships, the NWA World Team Championship and becoming the first United States Champion, Race won no less than seven NWA World Heavyweight Championships. The Handsome One won those titles from WWE Hall of Famers, Dory Funk, Jr., Terry Funk, Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair. Race's seven reigns stood as a record number of World Heavyweight Title reigns until Ric Flair won his eigth in 1991. To this day, only a handful of men can claim to have won more World Heavyweight Championships than Harley Race and none would dare claim they are tougher. During the 1970s and early '80s, Race was the NWA's most dominant champion, representing the sport's oldest World Heavyweight Title with pride and defending it all over the world with his raw-boned and rugged mat style. His impact in sports-entertainment was so great that WWE made Race the first NWA World Heavyweight Champion to engage in historic title unification matches against WWE Champions like "Superstar" Billy Graham and Bob Backlund. Race finally joined WWE full-time during the company's national expansion, and was introduced to a new generation of sports-entertainment fans worldwide as "The King" Harley Race. Clad in regal robes and a crown, he faced the late Junkyard Dog in a memorable encounter at WrestleMania III in front of over 93,000 fans at the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan and was the one of the earliest King of the Ring tournament winners in 1986, years before that event became an annual pay-per-view spectacular. Harley Race was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2004 and is still regarded as one of the most legitimately toughest men in sports-entertainment history.
This week James Stewart and Mike Riley discussed Chris Jericho as being the greatest wrestler of this generation, notes from the Steve Austin Tony Kahn podcast. How they would re-book the upcoming WWE Stomping Ground PPV and Riley thinks Jon Moxley will win the New Japan G1 tournament.
Olympic, World, Big Ten and NCAA Heavyweight Wrestling champion Kyle Snyder joined Bruce on Wednesday. Kyle spoke about his dominant 2017-2018 season, the upcoming NCAA Wrestling tournament in Cleveland and wrestling in the Olympics until he's 35 years old.
The fall out of the Elimination Chamber has been pretty interesting, you guys. Ronda Rousey signed her WWE contract, and put Triple H through a table. On RAW, we saw great injustices committed against The Miz. We saw John Cena decide to take his WrestleMania case to SMACKDOWN LIVE, but we decided to talk about PROGRESS instead. On 205 LIVE we saw some good lucha things, and we saw some good story line followup on NXT! Plus, what the heck happened with PWG this week?! We're talking about it, and taking some questions from Facebook!
