We're rockin' the suburbs on this month's Talking Taker as we finally cover The Undertaker's cinematic debut! Join wrestling superfans Alex Doriot and Travis White on their encyclopedic exploration digging up The Dead Man as we take our time-traveling hearse back to 1991 to cover the cult classic film "Suburban Commando" starring Hulk Hogan, Christopher Lloyd, Shelley Duvall, and, yes, Mark Calaway as a bounty hunter trying to hunt down the international space agent Shep Ramsey. Our Pod Street Krew has been begging us to cover this movie for years and boy did it deliver! We'll break down all the insanity including Hulk rapping on the soundtrack, the nighttime street mime, freeze ray guns, the absolutely bonkers rapid timeline of the movie, Shep's incredible wardrobe, Larry Miller stealing the show, drunk Army captains, flying skateboards, and, of course, Taker's infamous one line of "dialogue" in the movie. Plus we read some 5 star reviews from Amazon, share some behind the scenes trivia, and answer the age-old debate: is "Suburban Commando" a Christmas movie?! All that and we take a look back at the year of Undertaker Sightings in 2024 including his blockbuster WrestleMania run-in and his role in the Presidential election. Download, enjoy, and Taker Easy!    Today's episode is brought to you by "Reconstruction", the new full length album from Travis White! This week, we talk about suburban commando, a film that would have been better served by a 17-minute ruin time. This one was so tough to get through that our generally grating and nasal voices actually have a soothing effect when compared to the source material in question. Let's get into it! Hulk Hogan helps the hapless while heaping heaps of havoc! Doing a doggy dirty by fencing its face for a film! Totaling a traffic light with extra-terrestrial tommygun! Attempted adolescent automotive assault! Skyward skateboards, flying felines, and catapulted kids! Schwarzenegger switcheroo! Space Wine! Paperboy pummeling! Shelley Duvall was in The Shining! Rabbit Rebar! Bob's deep south streaming! Cocker spaniel face-cages! Kid corvette collision comedy, and much, much more on this week's episode of The Worst Movie Ever Made! www.theworstmovieevermade.com

Shat the Movies: 80's & 90's Best Film Review

Before Hulk Hogan was tearing up shirts at the Republican National Convention, he was a movie star battling galactic threats alongside Christopher Lloyd. That's why Shat The Movies die-hard Tom (formerly of Crane, Texas) asked us to review "Suburban Commando." And when the time came to crowdfund Tom's commission, Carlos The Mailman led the charge to make it happen. Fast forward a few years, and it's finally here: Gene and Dick are diving into a movie originally written for Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, loaded with mime jokes and featuring a young Elizabeth Moss and Undertaker.  We dedicate this episode to the late Shelley Duvall, who tragically passed just hours after we recorded. Unfortunately this is the last week of Hulkaman... I mean Wrestlemonthia for the year 2023. The last week that your host will dawn their tiny brightly colored underwear (which is all they wore during recordings) and talk about the...greatest... of the great, movies starring professional wrestlers.  Just as last year we're ending the month with arguably one of the most famous wrestlers of all time Hollywood Hogan!Last year Josh and special Wrestlemonthia guest Ricardo De Love aka Richard Gilver were ditched last second by Jesse to talk No Holds Barred on their own. Jesse decided that his addiction to laxatives was more important than the podcast. Well this year Ricardo De Love kicked the feet out from under Jesse and threw the laxatives across the ring. This year the three of them are hammering out Suburban Commando! At the end of this match Josh, Jesse , and Ricardo De love will help decide once and for all whether SUBURBAN COMMANDO IS.... A BLOODY GOOD FILM?We encourage everyone to watch along while you listen and make sure to comment and let us know what you think. Genreblast boys Nathan D. Ludwig and his partner Chad Farmer join me in reveling over Hulk Hogan's early 90s movie career staple - Suburban Commando. Directed by Burt Kennedy, produced by Howard Gottfried, and written by Frank Cappello. The film stars Hulk Hogan, Christopher Lloyd, Shelley Duvall, and Larry Miller. Additionally, a young Elisabeth Moss briefly appears in her film debut. The film was originally titled Urban Commando, and was intended for Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger. When these two opted to make Twins (1988), the script was bought by New Line Cinema as the follow-up to another Hulk Hogan film, No Holds Barred. The screenwriter for this masterpiece, Frank Cappello joins the guys to discuss the 1991 classic Hulk Hogan movie, Suburban Commando. We break the film down, and then Frank joins us to talk about how much the film changed from his orginal script, along with some behind the scenes story about the making of the film. Did you know it was inspired by an old Sci-Fi Classic from the 50s? This movie came out when we were 6th graders and so that probably has something to do with why we love it. As always we pick the top performers in the film, break down the best quotes in the script and give out the coveted Will Patton Award. Also, what wrestler could they remake this movie with today and have it still be just as cheesy? We want to hear from you so feel free to email us at ThisShowIsTrash@gmail.com and follow us on Facebook.com/BadMoviesRule - thank you for listening - we love you!
